Georgia said the CGM is the most empowering thing for people. This is why the pharmaceutical industry, big food and establishment dictors are against CGMs. They don't want you to be empowered because that hurts their bottom line. This has been an ongoing issue.
Thank so much for explaining the connection between what we eat and various health issues. It is also useful to understand what to exclude from our diet. 👍
I've learned from Craig Emmerich that if you overstep your own personal fat threshold, you can keep insulin levels steadily elevated which can also lead to insulin resistance. So, it's important to keep track of fat intake as well as eating low carb.
I think there are three ways to measure ketones. Urine strips, ketone monitors and breath readers. I believe each of those measure a different kind of ketone.

Here’s the hard part for me: I’m a Christian and the Bible mentions bread- a lot. Personally, I’m feeling so much better without grains but I wonder if we should eat it sparingly and trust in Gods providence. I will take Jesus in the form of bread on Sunday but will rarely if ever have it otherwise…anyway, my ramblings that may not matter to some.
They made it with just 2 ingredients and it was very popular in the Bible. We are being poisened with processed foods, and GMO toxic chemicals , personal care products, prescription....
Things changed, there were no GMO back then, people didn’t eat so frequently, people fast (unintentionally ) ie people ate dinner and stopped (fast) until next day breaking the fast so they used to fasting
Unfortunately I've been using the over the counter cgm Stelo and it's pretty inaccurate for my wife and I. The only good thing is, for me at least is that it's consistent in its inaccuracy. It reads about 20 points higher than blood test at all times. So at least I can see basic trends.
My ketones consistently run .2, .3 or .4. I am eating almost carnivore and way less that 20 g carbs always, intermittent fasting and have lost 28 lbs. since June 2. My only non-carnivore is occasional 1/4 cup kefir to restore micro biome per my gastroenterologist for diverticulitis, which is a few carbs. I am getting the results and went from 217 to 188 - 189. Eating 1200 to 1600 calories/day, which is low I know but lots of energy.
I would call kefir part of a carnivore diet, myself since the milk comes from an animal. I guess kefir can be made from coconut milk, but I would consider dairy products as animal products, this carnivore.

The 5 foods as particularly harmful to brain health: Processed Foods: High in refined sugars and unhealthy fats, which can lead to inflammation and cognitive decline. Sugar: Excessive sugar intake is linked to depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Trans Fats: Found in many processed and fried foods, trans fats are associated with increased risk of Alzheimer's and other brain diseases. Refined Carbohydrates: Foods like white bread and pastries can cause blood sugar spikes and contribute to brain fog and mood swings. Artificial Sweeteners: These can disrupt gut bacteria and negatively impact brain function

At mark 9:44, Dr. Ede may have confused some viewers by saying that one can lose the ability to turn glucose into carbohydrates for energy. It is, of course, just the opposite: turn carbs into glucose for the brain.
Thanks, awesome information. I was wondering while Dr. Ede was talking about melatonin, since Vitamin D is also a hormone could taking it as a supplement disrupt this system as well? My issue, until going ketovore, was pain and fatigue when taking a vitamin D supplement, (I had possible Lyme, post-sepsis Lyme syndrome, dx was Juvenile arthritis, also chronic TBI from sports in adolescence) so I’m really trying to work on my mental health, but also keep immune system working properly. My Vitamin D level was in range recently (41), I’m wondering if I’m processing it better because I upped the fat significantly on this animal-based diet/lifestyle. I wonder if the supplements weren’t causing toxicity because I just could not process the Vitamin D out of my fat cells on the SAD (sans seed oils and most processed foods)
When I first started eating ketogenic, including meats in my diet and removed carbs, my vitamin D level shot up without me even taking a supplement. My doctor was very pleased and said “whatever you’re doing keep doing it!” I now take vitamin D liquid with K2 in Winter as we don’t get much sun in the UK. But I think a keto/carnivore diet definitely improves vitamin D metabolism.
Unrefined carbs may be worse than refined carbs. Refined carbs still have the bran and germ. This is where the anti-nutrients such as phytates and lectins reside. Not that I recommend it but white flour for example is merely the endosperm of the kernel pure. Not as bad as including phytates and lectins.
I would like to see some statistics about the success on carnivore. Having done first 4 years on mixed keto and going on full animal based keto and further on full carnivore since, I have moved more towards optimal health with a mitochondriac paleo approach. My way of lifestyle has saved me tons of money and unimaginable health. It involves the skill of exclusion, which I learned during my five year carnivore experiment, that is exclusion of all things not existing in the past. My "past" is since 1800. This pretty much involves all electrics used and all chemicals used. As it is clear at this point that is impossible. We all are subjected to constatnt non-native electromagnetic pollution from the skies above and from the wiring in our urban living environment. But that is where I will be going non the less. Why? You might ask? Because the signaling system of all life forms on this planet, are sensitive to magnetic differences more than 10 000 times less than what we confront every day 24/7. Knowing the mechanism and understanding it is another matter than living according to it.
We also know that not all whey protein is created equal… There’s isolate and concentrate; there’s organic and nonorganic and grass fed; there’s all natural and with additives. The whey protein I use is from raw dairy, grass fed Jersey cows (A2), all natural with no additives… What are your thoughts on this type of quality whey protein?
protein powder should only be used under certain circumstances. For example, if you're out camping, and can't carry fresh meat. Or for a cancer patient who can't keep food down. It's 'worse case scenario". If you're trying to lose weight, like Dr. Ede's said, whey protein powder (any type) will spike your insulin the same as glucose. Long term, you should be trying to control that.
While legumes in general are not great for human consumption, sprouted and subsequently fermented legumes are excellent. An example is natto, which is soybeans fermented by Bacillus subtilis, the richest source of Vitamin K2 or menaquinone, essential for reversing osteoporosis by mobilizing Calcium from soft tissue into bones.

Lower than what? That is the real question. It is not an idle question, nor is relative risk an absolute figure. Sure, whole grains are lower risk than UPF and high sugar/ high carb SAD diets. It doesn't mean it is the lowest risk. Low carb / zero carbs is the lowest risk of T2D.

Dr. Ede doesn't like legumes nor whey as a protein source. As someone who does resistance training, what would be an acceptable source of protein that doesn't require cooking?
Here are the views of the medical community on the keto diet. First, regarding meat consumption: Not strictly necessary: While keto often emphasizes higher fat intake from sources like meat, it's not a strict requirement. Plant-based fats (avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil) can also be primary sources of energy on keto. Quality matters: If meat is included, the medical community generally recommends leaner cuts and emphasizes the importance of overall dietary patterns, not just individual foods. Regarding legumes and the keto diet: Nutrient-dense: Legumes are rich in fiber, protein, and essential nutrients, which are generally considered beneficial for health. Carb content: The main reason legumes are often limited on keto is their carbohydrate content. However, some legumes (like lentils) can be incorporated in moderation depending on individual carbohydrate goals. Not inherently "bad": The medical community generally does not view legumes as "bad" for health. They can be part of a healthy diet. Overall views on the ketogenic diet: Potential benefits: There's evidence suggesting keto can be helpful for certain conditions like epilepsy, and some studies show potential benefits for weight loss and blood sugar control in the short term. Sustainability and long-term effects: Concerns remain about the long-term sustainability and potential risks of keto, such as nutrient deficiencies, kidney stones, and elevated cholesterol levels. Individualized approach: Most medical professionals emphasize that dietary needs are individual. What works for one person may not work for another. Key takeaways: Balanced perspective: It's crucial to get information from reliable sources and consider a balanced perspective. Consult a professional: If you're considering keto or any significant dietary change, consult a doctor or registered dietitian. They can help you assess if it's appropriate for your individual needs and health conditions. It's important to remember that nutrition science is constantly evolving. Stay informed and make choices that align with your health goals and values.

@@dahVEEDBBone Stelo
We’ve heard from a few clients that this non-Rx CGM works decently. It’s a lot more affordable. Look up hello lingo. (I didn’t try it so don’t know for sure).
I'm going to have to listen to this again. So much good information.
I agree, I was so confused as to how to cure my recent prediabetes until I purchased a CGM. Dr. Ede explained glucose and insulin so I can fully understand. Nutrition for mental health is heart warming, mental health affects every family. God Bless you both, thank goodness Judy showed up in my queue this morning, I subscribed.
She is brilliant ❤
Excellent video. Dr. Ede is a truth teller. Thank you.
This was excellent, share it with all your friends and family.
10 days into keto diet I must say I´m surprised of the benefits so soon, after a few days I was feeling better, my mind is clearer than ever, my focus is improved, lost a few pounds, sleep better, my whole body are more calm and even my virility has improved.
Only 10 days!
She explains insulin resistance so well!
Your new hair-do is very flattering. It makes you look young and pretty.
Georgia said the CGM is the most empowering thing for people. This is why the pharmaceutical industry, big food and establishment dictors are against CGMs. They don't want you to be empowered because that hurts their bottom line. This has been an ongoing issue.
It's criminal
Thank so much for explaining the connection between what we eat and various health issues. It is also useful to understand what to exclude from our diet. 👍
What a great discussion and I learned so much! Wonderful guest and thank you for such great questions!
EXCELLENT INTERVIEW WITH AMAZING INFORMATION!! THANK YOU!❤❤
Loved Dr. Ede's book.
I have Dr Ede’s book. Love it!!
Judy, you ask the BEST questions!!! 🙏❤🙏
I've learned from Craig Emmerich that if you overstep your own personal fat threshold, you can keep insulin levels steadily elevated which can also lead to insulin resistance. So, it's important to keep track of fat intake as well as eating low carb.
Loved Dr. Ede's book! Middle Tennessee Rita ❤
Yes, she’s amazing! She is one of my favorites. ♥️
Such enriching knowledge
Is a keytone meter using breath for analysis a good alternative to other measurement methods such as strips and blood? Thank-you.
I think there are three ways to measure ketones. Urine strips, ketone monitors and breath readers. I believe each of those measure a different kind of ketone.
This was brilliant
One of the best videos on this topic! In a class of its own. Ben Bikman is on this level. Plus quite a few other, less "deep-divers", Thank you!!!!!
@8:02 "because you can't fortify a whole food" you should try and compare the eggs from my chickens with the eggs from any store,,I'll bet mine have been fortified. Great talk btw.
It's not the same bread from ancient times. It's what we have done to it that makes it bad. God Bless.
They made it with just 2 ingredients and it was very popular in the Bible.
We are being poisened with processed foods, and GMO toxic chemicals , personal care products, prescription....
Same for fruits, they arent the same now at all !
People seem to not be able to process how everything is now processed!
Things changed, there were no GMO back then, people didn’t eat so frequently, people fast (unintentionally ) ie people ate dinner and stopped (fast) until next day breaking the fast so they used to fasting
Two of my faves together ❤
Unfortunately I've been using the over the counter cgm Stelo and it's pretty inaccurate for my wife and I. The only good thing is, for me at least is that it's consistent in its inaccuracy. It reads about 20 points higher than blood test at all times. So at least I can see basic trends.
Thank you for sharing
lengthy, but very good and nuanced
Thank you both for sharing this important information.
Excellent info! Thank You!

Magnesium or taurine can lower glutamate levels so magnesium taurate ! I read a study on Pubmed that used magnesium taurate for 7 days and depression and anxiety was gone .
”Legumes: the most important dietary predictor of survival in older people of different ethnicities”
What does Dr. Ede think about the use of MCT oil?
How can I find information on her course to take for ketogenic diet please
Man no wonder I couldn't lower my inflammation and lose weight. I was thinking isolate whey protein was good. Also 1 year into carnivore, when I fast for 15+ hours for my blood test, my ketones go to 7.8 according to the blood/urine test. Not sure if I should worry about it.
That's not a very long fast to have ketones go that high. I would be concerned....
@@eleanorsendeavors29 yah it's sky high. But I always feel okay so I dunno. 😅 But I usually do 2MAD or 3MAD cuz I hunger. I don't like fasting.
ppl keep say that whole grain is better than refined. our molars tells that we not supposed to eat any grain at all, see if you can figure this out.
I thought grain was a perfect human food until we messed it up?
Don't eat any grain...it may be useful for bulking up combined with meat but it has not health benefits.
@underated17 never was. that's why we have tooth decay, especially our molars
@@underated17the adverse health effects are well documented since we started agriculture 12k years ago or so... Tooth decay is just one of the effects, but pretty much any modern disease blamed on "bad genetics" is probably caused by eating grains and modern fruit.
@@gabrielbarrantes6946 I have a rare blood type supposedly adjusted more to modern agriculture, I seem to feel great eating grains and whole grains and a variety of plant foods. I am not sure if that has something to do with it.
When she said avoid "cereals" she refeers to "industrial cereals" , and not "spelt" for example ! Spelt could be fine as a daily source of carbs , right ?
The 5 foods as particularly harmful to brain health:
Processed Foods: High in refined sugars and unhealthy fats, which can lead to inflammation and cognitive decline.
This was your Best guest ever. Wow. ❤
Amazing!!!!!!!!
I love this ♥️♥️♥️
Wow the doc is looking younger and younger😃
Anyone knows what is Keto level measure device? Of course I will do more research, but listening here it seems it's better than CGM checking keto, not just for blood sugar level
Hi Judy I would love to hear an interview with Dr Jamnadas
Oh yeah, good idea.
My depression and painic attacks for 35 years are gone with keto and carnivore. I had to take medications for 35 years. No medications now. Cronic insomnia gone too.
Amazing to hear this! Can I ask how long it took and what your carnivore diet looks like?
@Ceej474 I became kieto first. I have Ibd and first gave up grains and beans after reading books on gut health. Then eventually dairy and fruit jad to go. When I added magnesium in large amounts. Ionic. 800 mg it really made a huge difference for me. That's when I felt so much better and got off medications. So it was graduall for me. I was so depleted in magnesium. I oould not tolerate fiber from vegetables and had to stop them too. I eat alot of fish because I digest it well, venison elk beef all ground . 3 egg yolks week. I don't do great with eggs yet either. Suet and coconut oil. I have a hard time with animal fat right now. Still healing 2 autoimmune diseases and oxalate dumping symptoms too. Great moods though.
@@amyfarrell8799Magnesium diffeciency causes autoimmune diseases. Mitochondria will go down without it. Carbs deplete it quickly due to their high metabolism effect. Add thing that complements magnesium.
Effects of whole grains on insulin resistance in overweight and obese adults: a Meta-analysis]
”Conclusion: Daily intake of 140 g to 160 g of whole grains improves FPG (fasting plasma glucose) levels in overweight and obese adults.”
Great video, love your content, Judy; but woooo, what an unflattering pic of Dr Georgia Ede for the thumbnail.
I love her! I have her book in my pile of "must read" this year. lol
From someone dealing with insomnia, can insulin affect sleep? I don’t take drugs unless it’s necessary after days of not sleeping. Sleep deprivation has a large impact on the brain, feeling like you’re losing your mind. I’m trying carnivore because everyone says it improved their sleep. I have not found that to work for me. I’m healthy, exercise, and everyone says I look great, but I’m exhausted and can’t think straight.
What is the brand of CGM that we can buy without a prescription
Is this the wife of the protein power Dr? He was my first real try at keto.
No, his last name is Eades
At mark 9:44, Dr. Ede may have confused some viewers by saying that one can lose the ability to turn glucose into carbohydrates for energy. It is, of course, just the opposite: turn carbs into glucose for the brain.
Any recommendations on a cgm?
Really do enjoy these videos but just way too long to appreciate fully.
My doctor was very pleased and said “whatever you’re doing keep doing it!”
I now take vitamin D liquid with K2 in Winter as we don’t get much sun in the UK.
Citation on whey protein please! I love my whey protein and glucose never over 140. Guess I need ketone meter.
Glucose will not rise after taking whey, your insulin will spike, and that is what you should be controlling as well.
Hi Jerry, eat eggs, meat, fish, Greek yogurt to get your protein. Whey protein powder is processed and almost nutrient dead.
protein powder should only be used under certain circumstances. For example, if you're out camping, and can't carry fresh meat. Or for a cancer patient who can't keep food down. It's 'worse case scenario". If you're trying to lose weight, like Dr. Ede's said, whey protein powder (any type) will spike your insulin the same as glucose. Long term, you should be trying to control that.
whey protein isnt needed at all.
What about the benefits of the immunoglobulins and colostrum found in whey powder.
I’m not totally on board that whey powder is not beneficial for us.
I’m thinking that, in smaller doses/amounts, whey powder is probably very beneficial for us.
Where can I purchase the patches that last up to 2 weeks?
I would like to know if sprouting seeds and legumes removes or reduces toxins.
Wish I could heal and know what to do foodwise so many opinions and praying for direction and healing for so long and Just getting worse and more disease and uncurable progressive damage and dont know what to do foodwise
Love you girls. AWESOME work xoxoxoxoxo
And others say legumes are super when properly prepared

Intake of whole grain foods and risk of type 2 diabetes: results from three prospective cohort studies
”Conclusion: Higher consumption of total whole grains and several commonly eaten whole grain foods, including whole grain breakfast cereal, oatmeal, dark bread, brown rice, added bran, and wheat germ, was significantly associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.”
Interesting about alcohol and liver metabolism... priority...v interesting
Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant which is absolutely good to the health. You should also include this information. Right?
I take it in acute inflammation. However it is not recommended for teenagers as it can postpone puberty. Hence, it messes up hormones by reducing it. As a 53yo woman, i most certainly don't want to reduce my hormones.
Dr. Ede doesn't like legumes nor whey as a protein source. As someone who does resistance training, what would be an acceptable source of protein that doesn't require cooking?
Meat, eggs, milk. The more raw the more nutrients.
Dr Thomas Chaffee advertises some kind of carnivore bar on his videos...
Buy pre-packaged meats
Beef jerky, beef sticks.
Here are the views of the medical community on the keto diet. First, regarding meat consumption:
Not strictly necessary: While keto often emphasizes higher fat intake from sources like meat, it's not a strict requirement. Plant-based fats (avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil) can also be primary sources of energy on keto. Quality matters: If meat is included, the medical community generally recommends leaner cuts and emphasizes the importance of overall dietary patterns, not just individual foods.
Regarding legumes and the keto diet:
Nutrient-dense: Legumes are rich in fiber, protein, and essential nutrients, which are generally considered beneficial for health.
Overall views on the ketogenic diet:
Potential benefits: There's evidence suggesting keto can be helpful for certain conditions like epilepsy, and some studies show potential benefits for weight loss and blood sugar control in the short term.
Key takeaways:
Balanced perspective: It's crucial to get information from reliable sources and consider a balanced perspective.
