  • We all know that alcohol is a toxin with numerous effects on our health - from weight gain, to sleep and mood disruption as well as causing multiple cancers, diabetes, heart disease, gut dysbiosis, liver damage and dementia - even at "socially acceptable levels."
Many of us drink in moderation and don't consider it to be a "problem"- but today I'm discussing an interesting way of reframing your relationship with alcohol and being very clear about where it might be causing problems in your life.
I came across an amazing community called "One Year No Beer" and joined their 28 day alcohol free challenge.
    WEBSITE LINK - www.oneyearnob...
This challenge is supported with emails, videos and connecting with others on the same journey, and invites you to experience how you feel without alcohol for a prolonged period.
Like me- a break from drinking makes most people realize that we are being held back by alcohol, and without it many things improve! My personal goal is to be someone who drinks "as much as I like as often as I like"- which will amount to very little, and not very often.

Such a great video. I have recently started reevaluating my alcohol consumption. As you mentioned, I was drinking mindlessly….never affected my relationships, no headaches, not even my sleep was affected as I always stopped drinking by 630 or 7pm having heard that was better. But I just felt I poured my drink just because it was 430 or 5 pm and time to unwind. I don’t think I will ever stop completely as I enjoy wine and travel too much, but I am certainly reducing my consumption very much, and this video helps greatly. 🥰

Best thing I ever did was quit. Started off as a 30 day thing but I felt so much better after 30 days I quit. I have a drink once in a while but FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!. Better moods, less up and down moods. So, so glad I gave it a try.

I’ve had alcohol 3x in the past 2 years and feel great. Other than that immediate short-term buzz, it just doesn’t have much to offer me and my body thanks me. SO glad I rarely drink anymore. I don’t miss it.

My family all drink. I find the occasional red wine when out for dinner or lunch is a nice treat

After gallbladder surgery at 63 I found that alcohol just didn’t break down well in my system any longer and caused a lot of digestive issues. I quit drinking except for a rare drink on occasion. I do feel better in so many ways. But I have to say that I was astounded to see just how many events and activities involve alcohol consumption. That really makes it hard to not drink and being around people who are drinking when you aren’t, is actually pretty annoying. I wish there were more things to do that didn’t involve alcohol. You can’t even watch decorating shows without people showing off their bar areas. I don’t remember alcohol being so important 20 years ago.

I cut out alcohol when I started menopause. It did nothing for me but cause more hot flashes and really wreaked havoc with my sleep.

Some people can have a healthy relationship with alcohol, but I would still challenge every person to examine how much better they feel without it -if they haven't gone a block of time without it, they simply might not realize how much better they could feel! Ultimately, it's everybody's individual choice.

Appreciate if you would reference “Type 2 Diabetes” VS “ Diabetes”. For public health- children & adults with Type 1 Diabetes confront challenges given their autoimmune situation & need for glucose, when blood sugar is low. T1D diagnosis has Nothing to do with their diet or exercise pre T1D. Helps if the medical community doesn’t generalize “Diabetes”, since it’s not accurate.
