The Mets had a great late run this season but what the Dodgers are doing with their injured pitching staff is the story. This seems kind of nuts even with the offense.
It's very similar to what the Detroit Tigers did with their pitching staff. Detroit ace Jack Flaherty was traded to the Dodgers, and they were left with former Dodger reliever Kenta Maeda and a bunch of other guys. So they decided, let's do the pitching rotation differently. Let's have 3 or 4 guys come up every game, pitch around 3 innings as hard as they can, then give the ball to the next guy. The Detroit Tigers went from being one of the worst teams in MLB aside from the Chicago White Sox to a team who took the Cleveland Guardians to 5 games in their divisional series. That's a remarkable turnaround.
Better hope they get healthy soon. Can't afford to play the Yankees with short handed pitching. Ngl, the dodgers let the Mets score so many runs, the Yankees might score 20 in a few games.
