I was driving in the last innings and saw fireworks near San Gabriel. Thought maybe Dodgers won so I asked my friend to look up the score. He said the game was tied. But then immediately afterwards Yankees retook the lead. I thought for sure it was over-especially since I didn't see any more fireworks.
Boy was I happy when I got home and looked up the score.
That's. Cuz it was over till he hit the homer.....😂 They were lucky to win that they played flat and without Ohtani and his amazing baseball IQ and excellent awareness you would have lost....he is Awesome and I am a Yankees fan, Yankees win in 6 games
@@dancyr6686 The Yankees were the better team throughout most of the game, but they weren't when the stakes were highest. If Game 1 is any indication, this is going to be a _tight_ series.

@@samiam619 I just watched it - the parallels are striking! Both Game 1. Both with two outs. Both batters injured. Both walk-off homers by leftys. Here's where the Gibson at bat is so amazing (not to take anything away from Freeman!): Gibson was really badly injured - left hamstring, plus ligament damage in his right knee. Freeman's ankle is almost back to 100%. Gibson facing the best reliever in the game, who hadn't given up a homer in almost 2 months. Freeman facing a pitcher pitching for the 1st time in over a month. Gibson went down 0 - 2 on the first 2 pitches, then fouled off the next 3! With every swing, Gibson was limping more. On the tenth pitch of the at bat, Gibson homers on an outside pitch - amazing!
Weather your a yankees or dodgers fan u should b proud of your team for this series win or lose..the stardom level and history and just to be alive to witness this epic match up..wow what a time. Orioles fan here and im just telling all u yankees and dodgers fans that win or lose your still a winner in my book. May the best team prevail.

What a way to end it a walk off grand slam is crazy
It was incredible to watch this live and be at Disneyland at the same time. Hearing people react to the grand slam at Disney was the best.
What an exciting game! I'm a New Yorker, but a lifetime Red Sox fan, so I'm rooting for the Dodgers against the Evil Empire, and this made me very happy.

A woman after my own heart. My Mom is from Mass and my Dad is from So. Cal. She's 91 and I'm glad she got to see the Sox win the World Series. 2004 was amazing and shocking.

Uk cricket fan here. I’m a part time watcher but will be absolutely glued to this World Series. What drama. Game one did not disappoint. Amazing. And great for your sport. Hope it continues what seems to be a renaissance.
I think this match up was honestly something baseball absolutely needed, who knew game one could come close to meeting the expectations of the fans?? That was drama incarnate!

I'm not a fan of the commute to Chavez, now I think about it, I have been to a few Dodger's games back around 1989 when I was a kid. They used to give out actual wooden miniature bats to fans.
So happy for Freddie to be able to celebrate with his dad after the game....and then go home to his son and share that moment with him and his family.
The shortstop for LA Dodgers is unbelievable. He literally saved a couple of runs because of his outstanding defense. 👍

@@SheepRfaggg Fernando Valenzuela, a former Dodgers player, died just 4 days prior to todays game. In the pre-game, the commentators talked about him, and played a little tribute for him. So OP is saying Fernando was there tonight as an angel, helping make this historic game. 🙂

I was lucky enough to see WS home games for 63 and 65 series. Grampa built the stadium and we sat next to Jerry and Vinny, Danny Thomas and crew. One series a cakewalk against Twins, the other a battle with Yankees. This was a very intense game and one of the best Ive seen in a series. Miscues, HR takeaway, errors, and glorious baseball heroism. Freddy be the man tonight ay

yankees vs. dodgers is such a classic franchise matchup that i purchased a streaming service to watch this series.
i put $20 on the los angeles dodgers on the draft kings app and watched the coolest game and ending i have seen in years! it was so fun! go dodgers! (i have close nyc ties, yankee fans have always annoyed me ;)

I think it's seven. The Dodgers only had one as the Brooklyn Dodgers but have done it six times since which is more than most teams. They also shared a championship as the Bridegrooms in 1890. They should have played a tiebreaker.
