Honestly 170r is top of the mid range, dsr+ is bottom of the high ends... two totally different feels. That $100 price difference is mire than worth it
Good comparison. Planet markers all feel to fat to me. The luxe has always felt the best. I’d love to see a comparison between the dsr+ and the m3s. Seems like everyone likes the dsr better and yet the m3s is still the “flagship” id like to hear your thoughts on why that is.
I've always been an eclipse guy. I had a Geo 2.1 when it first came out and almost didn't sell it when I exited the game a couple years ago. Thinking about getting back into it now and it just seems like the dsr+ is the way to go. Most people don't realize that you really only have 2 or 3 shooting preset modes (10 bps ramp, semi capped if you're playing with rentals and whatever you and your buddies play on the field) and once you get your stuff dialed in(takes a couple weekends on the field) you don't really use the electronics. What matters is how it feels and what you prefer. Dye guns have always felt amazing in the hands and it seems like the reliability is there. As much as I have an emotional connection to PE... The dsr+ seems like a no brainer. With respect to the feedneck, you can get a $12 part to put a thumbscrew on it.
This is why I went 170r over an AMP and DSR+, I just want to know it's going to work, I can settle for a 10% less quality shot feel or comfort for this trade off.
@@nyphon I was gonna do the same because of that reason but I didn’t want an old ass gun even tho it’s the basically the same as the top guns today if I’m gonna finna spend around a rack for a gun I want the new new
@@KrustyFish i had this thought too since the 170r is 2 years old now, but at the same time i dont think even a 180r would change much. its a weird spot to be in.
I have the old dsr and a 170r and tend to use the Dye more. Think planet needs to raise the price of 170r and put a FL barrel on it. Can't go wrong with either.
Call PE you get a British dude in their facility who's built and serviced these markers from the ground up, loves and plays paintball, yet still gives you EXCELLENT cust service. call dye you get a typical cookie cutter cust service rep. Alot to be said for that.....caveat, I'm sure this is different if you're a retailer.
Not a fan of PE and how they feel and shoot. I didn't like the original dsr and how close the trigger guard was to the frame, and this vibration. But I will give the dsr+ a test run soon. 170r is vanilla and plain.
the Boss/employee tension is ruining this video. it feels like he's trying to control what he is saying in the middle of the video. that stuff needs to be settled off camera, if you don't want to look dishonest. it's insulting to the viewers intelligence, and a generally uncomfortable vibe. I think these guys are totally awesome, but on camera it's either total freedom or regulated off camera.
The dsr is buttery smooth and I prefer the feel over the 170r. Shooting a cs2 at the moment
Not a must have or anything but adding to reliability, Eclipse also puts a water-resistant coating over their boards whereas Dye does not.
Still see a lot off water/paint damage on pe boards just looks at the pe tech page and this is not me defending dye by any means

I miss my 170R and my punishers shocker...i need to get back in the game lol
Yes DYE makes a great Marker but not better than Planet Eclipse! That G Tech is sic solid gun it not to thin ! What a solid gun !
I'm surprised you didnt mention the SFR on the DSR+

170 has been rippin for me 😊
I like my dsr+ more than my 170r but it’s all really feeling if you know how to take care of your gun

So basically planet should get rid of the 170r and only sell cs2s lol
Will we ever see Keegan again?
The mech frame is bare bones you have to move over the ASA and the grips. Thats 6 screws unless you buy them
I hate the joystick with a passion. It is why I sold my DSR.
Dude on the left is definitely a Dye fanboy!

I've called Dye for technical help many times, and every time I have gotten a factory tech on the call immediately, and had excellent help from them.
Second for talking to a paintball tech when I called dye direct
Was the weight with Batteries?
Yes
The weights they listed PLUS the weight of whatever battery you put in....🙄

Planet eclipse is worlds better.
Chode....hahahah I died
Nerd!!!!
So basicaothe dsr is prettier and the 170r is better performing 🤔
