Yes! I was waiting for you to get to this one. Knew you'd love it. The classic Aerosmith lineup is Steven Tyler (vocals, piano, harmonica), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Joey Kramer (drums). Tyler & Perry are the primary songwriters. They are known as "The Toxic Twins" as kind of a spin on the nickname of the Mick Jagger/Keith Richards songwriting team known as "The Glimmer Twins," and as a reference to their substance abuse issues. In their early days, they were largely dismissed by critics as a knockoff of The Rolling Stones. Steven Tyler has said the worst part was that it was true. The really interesting thing about Aerosmith is that by the early 80s, they had largely been written off as washed up drug addicts. Perry & Whitford had both left the band. But by the mid 80s they were able to stage a comeback, due to their getting clean and to a collaboration with Run DMC which saw the two groups re-working the Aerosmith classic, "Walk This Way." The song & video garnered Aerosmith an entirely new audience, and they've been going strong ever since. Since about 2000, they have been working with songwriters from outside the band, which, arguably, has weakened their material. But it would be hard to discredit them as Rock & Roll survivors. -JR in Miami

Love this song and this era of Aerosmith. There’s an acapella version of this on RUclips that I’d highly recommend. Steven Tyler’s voice without any music is unbelievable. Try “What It Takes” if you want another one of their songs with a similar sound.
Angel is near the very top of the list of my favorite Aerosmith songs, especially the live version from “A Little South of Sanity” it’s has a little more depth and feeling. If wanna go a little further down the rabbit hole and check out one of their lesser known songs I highly suggest “Kiss Your Past Goodbye”. It’s a gem, and probably their most underrated song in my opinion. Wasn’t released as a single, no music video, but damn if it doesn’t hit.
Another Desmond Child gem! The number of hits this incredible songwriter has made during the 80s and 90s is simply ridiculous. Bon Jovi, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Joan Jett...
Aerosmith is my favorite band and always has been. Some consider them America's greatest rock and roll band. One song for you to react to is Round and Round off of the Toys in the Attic album, not one of their main stream songs but in my opinion it's one of their heaviest songs, definitely one for the "stinkface" head nod if you know what I mean🎶🎸🥁🎤🇺🇲
I’m loving that y’all got back to Aerosmith, Steven Tyler does have a great, sustained, in-tune rock scream. I’d love to see you get back to some Pearl Jam, as Eddie Vedder is phenomenal at belting out some great sustained notes. Check out a live performance of “Release” “Alive” or “Porch”. Another amazing primal scream genius was Jim Morrison of The Doors! You need to check out some of their live performances of “Back Door Man” or “Five to One”. Absolute Fire 🔥!!!! Love the channel! Keep em coming! Been with y’all since the beginning & it’s been a great ride!

What it takes - is another awesome tune from that same album I believe
We need some Journey!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys have hit on every 80's band but somehow keep missing Journey. So many hits to react too.
You noticed that too, huh? Once they hear Steve Perry do 'Mother, Father' Live in Houston, they'll be hooked.
I listen to a wide range of music, stretching all across the board. Areosmith is and always will be one fo my top favorite bands.
Love this song and this era of Aerosmith. There’s an acapella version of this on RUclips that I’d highly recommend. Steven Tyler’s voice without any music is unbelievable. Try “What It Takes” if you want another one of their songs with a similar sound.
The biggest love songs were made in the 80s, and this one was on the top tier. SO HUGE!!!
Steven Tyler is out of this world! He's amazing. Joe Perry on lead guitar rocks
One of the greatest ballads of all time. Stevens killer voice, the overall musicianship, and powerful lyrics.Whats not to like!!
"You're the reason I give, When I break down and cry. Don't need no reason why" always had a problem with this lyric. SHE'S the reason why.
You're overthinking it.
Saw Aerosmith in 96, 97 & 99 and each one was phenomenal !!!!!
Great pick! This has got to be in my top ten Aerosmith songs ❤ I also recommend their song "Pink," for a more playful side of them.
One of the all-time great rock ballads.
The man is just s versatile vocally. He can YODL!
Pearl Jam "Do the Evolution"
@@jamesskilling7363 I could listen to Eddie Vedder sing the phone book and be good with it. 👍
I'd recommend the MTV Unplugged version of "Black" for Pearl Jam.
@@shannoncopeland4506 they did Black unplugged a while back, though it is maybe the greatest performance of that song ever done. Eddie’s passion and emotion during that performance was absolutely amazing.
@@jamessinacore6991 Good to know. I'll have to look that one up.
I love Aerosmith!! My favorite album is Big One's
Saw them in concert and they are amazing! And Steven's voice is remarkable!!
If I was to rank order top rock voices my list would Include. 10. David Bowie, 9.Ozzy Osborne, 8. Elvis Presley, 7 Tom Petty, 6. Janis Joplin 5. Axl Rose, 4. Bruce Springsteen, 3 Robert plant, 2. Chris Cornell. 1 Freddie Mercury. honorable mentions Steven Perry, Eddie vedder, Ann Wilson, Rob Halfords,John Lennon Roy Orbison, Roger Daughtry, Deborah Harry and Mick Jagger
One of the all time greatest ballads !! Oh the greatest memories of coming home from elementary school and turning MTV on and this playing on tv!!
Aerosmith and Run DMC “walk this way”! One of my childhood hits.
1988 was a terrific year for music, as was the entire decade. This song was one of TONS of bangers from that time period, as I'm sure you know :)
There are 2 Aerosmith songs ( I’m sure there are more, but these are the 2 I know) where Steven Tyler Tyler’s gets to the top of his range. One is Dream On which you’ve already reacted to. The other is What It Takes which was a hit in the late 80’s.
This is my FAVORITE Aerosmith song!! 😍
Two other singles from the "Permanent Vacation" album besides "Angel" are "Dude Looks Like a Lady" and "Rag Doll." If you want to hear Steven Tyler absolutely shred his vocal cords, listen to "Draw the Line."
I love both of those songs!
The 70s Aerosmth will always be the best ..
"The male Jaice". Yeah, I see it for sure! His is one of my absolute favorite voices ever!!! It soothes me.
Love your rock reactions. Jay, if your ever in the mood for a killer guitar solo, try
1. Scorpions- Rock You Like a Hurricane
2. Dokken- In My Dreams
3. Winger- Madalaine
You guys are soo refreshing and know quality classic bands! So you are now up near the top of my favorite reactors. Steven Tyler just legendary! Many bangers by him.
you need to react to aerosmith "crazy", "crying", "falling in love (is hard on the knees)" and pink. good ones you will enjoy
Aerosmith ie and Steven Tyler has melted many a females heart with his charisma, style and presence and delivery on stage.
You should really listen to “Love in a Elevator” or “Pink” for a lighter side of Aerosmith…. At their live show in the 90’s they sounded exactly like their studio cuts… absolutely phenomenal!!!
YES! Please Pink! (official) I request it often when people do Aero but nobody ever reacts to it because it doesn't get enough "votes" If you want to see Steven be himself as in dress, weirdness, fun etc. That is the video you need to see! (although I love "Love in an Elevator" also)
Dream on fak yeah, still my fav, amazing it got no airplay when it was released now it’s one of the biggest on RUclips, “I don’t wanna miss a thing” Also as a later bud is awesome too as it shows their versatility
Agree
My Mom is 62, I'm 42. We freaking LOVE Steven Tyler, so glad y'all like Aerosmith too!
I saw them in Huntsville, AL in 1990 and they are by far one of the most entertaining, rocking bands I have ever experienced. Joan Jett opened for them and the entire night is one I remember vividly. Great song choice. I love Back In The Saddle on a beautiful day driving with the windows down.
How often do u see a band selling platinum in the 70's... then crashed & burned in the early 80's... got rejuvenated by a rap remake of a 1975 hit song in 1986 ... then make a major comeback in 1987 w/ a record ('Permanent vacation') that outsells all their past albums?
Only Aerosmith 🕊
That is the truth, it is a breath of fresh air,to see in person, how music impacts ones spirit?..love you guys ,,and Thank you,,,,,for being REAL.....
I named my cat after this song. She saved my life just by existing. She has been gone for a long time now but I still love this song.
One of my favorite 80s power ballads.
The 80s hit Aerosmith in the head with a sledgehammer, and they ran with it.
