Tobi-Kadachi Theme (My Original Composition)

- An alternative score I created for the Kadachi family (Tobi-Kadachi and Viper Tobi-Kadachi).
I call this piece "The Rite of Passage". It was composed with (Viper) Tobi-Kadachi in mind, with lots of woodwinds, drums and voices (Rhodope 2 choir by Strezov Sampling) to create a tribal track. It's exciting, a little menacing, like the first time you encounter the beasts. The sizzling shakers/cymbals and shaken tambourines fit the static buildup (0:43) of Tobi-Kadachi, but also hints to its serpentine nature.
When I think of the Kadachis, I think fast and nimble (slicing sounds at 1:10), predatory, aerial, electric/paralysis (synths from 1:20 to 1:43) and poison (creepier music 1:23 to 1:56, as well as the overblown flutes throughout that make me think of poison darts). Basically, snake meets flying squirrel.
NOTE: I know Viper Tobi-Kadachi lives in a cold environment because he was released with the Iceborne DLC, but even when reading his biological description, there is so little logic to him living in a snowy environment. I believe he is MUCH more suited for a jungle, where he won't be spotted from miles away like an orange pylon and where he can venture anywhere in warmth and humidity, not limited to underground caverns. Migrate, my friend!

This theme sounds like it would fit perfectly with a Peacock Spider Temnoceran, dancing around you in exquisite colorings :D
That would be very cool, it’d be neat if they were based on kabuki since both make those very dramatic dances in a sudden rythmic burst

Also fun fact, some spiders (maybe all, I don’t remember) “sing” for their mates! They beat their 2 body segments together and tap the ground with their feet to create multilayered, complex songs!

You’re absolutely right. I’m glad the tribal sound seems to be fitting for other monsters too, actually. In a way, this could be an ecosystem theme for monster battles in a jungle, flooded forest or the Ancient forest type of areas.

Though it kind of goes against tradition to give monsters not on Elder Dragon-level vocals, this was a very well thought out piece.

Rise's soundtrack is much more focused on vocals, just about every theme has them, so it wouldn't be too out of place in Rise.

This is an awesome jungle battle theme! I could see it fitting Tobi, Bishaten, Kecha Wacha, Royal Ludroth, Gobul, and various other monsters in the jungle!
I've got a couple suggestions for future themes!
The first is Rathalos. In every game since the original, Rathalos has never had his own distinctive theme, he's always just had the area theme that your fighting him in. Capcom emphasizes that the original Verdant Hills battle theme is his, but if that was the case then why doesn't it play for him in other games? I imagine his theme would be something triumphant and heroic, befitting a King and deserving of the Flagship of the series! Maybe with some melodies from Proof of a Hero!
The other is the deviants. All of them (with one exception) have that same godforsaken track. It's not a bad theme, none of Monster Hunter's music is outright bad, but it shouldn't play for these unique and extremely powerful monsters! All of the Flagship deviants deserve their own themes without a doubt. Maybe Deadeye as well?
I’m actually currently working on Rathalos. I’m torn between making it like you said (royal/heroic) or similar to his past “theme”, which is full of anxiety and dissonance that screams danger. I’ll probably do a bit of both, I might use choirs or electric instruments, or I’ll do 90% horns and strings like more traditional MH music.
I feel like I want to create something that fits, but isn’t just an alternative track that could be used in the game. If I target the battle aspect and Rathalos’ concept, I think I can produce something epic, though not everyone will agree. It’s more fun to go outside the lines a bit I think (ex: my khezu theme and Tobi with choir).

The vocals in this *really* remind me of the vocals from Sahvyt's theme in Dauntless, which isn't a bad thing of course, but it really it stuck out to me in particular.

All the instruments are plug-ins. There’s quite a bit of editing involved too of course. Some of them sound a little fake on their own, but in a good mix can be quite convincing.

@@dumithegreat3892 Symphobia (strings and ethnic flute samples), Rhodope 2 (voices), some percussions that came with Komplete 12 and the woodwinds/more percussion from Logic Pro, including the panpipes.

this slaps hard, loving the bongos and choir. although I wish it has some parts to show its electrical elements like how Zinogre and Astalos has some audible electric guitar playing to show the elements they represents
It’s very subtle, but there is a static noise playing in some parts to represent the electricity and « static » nature of the fur.
Really sounds like a MH4 map theme

The theme is fire, but so much (going on) with choirs and all for an early game electric squirrel?
It might just be me. but It sounds a bit too slow and a bit too muted for a lightning squirrel that flies, jumps, and attacks really quickly. The song itself though is incredibly cool and I love the tribal aesthetic going on in the vocals!
