- Mizutsune has a long slender body just like most other Leviathans. However, it is one of the few Leviathans to actually have fur on its body. This fur covers its chest, underbelly, legs and tail. Its scales are light colored and resemble those of a fish. Its head has a long snout and is beautifully adorned by many fin-like appendages. These fins are pink with yellow markings, and they can also be seen on its back and tail. Its feet are said to be quite different from other Leviathans and allow Mizutsune to move swiftly on land. Mizutsune is able to breath bubbles at its enemies and able to produce these bubbles in its fur. It is unknown at this time what the bubbles do though many believe it hinders the movement of prey. It can also fire pressurized jets of water from its mouth, much like Plesioth.

I seriously love how they made a pink snake that shoots bubbles and is covered in flower petals and slides on soap to attack and they managed to somehow actually make it intimidating
It also literally screams "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!", kind of like it's having fun.
He's a fox not a snake lol. He clearly has legs and on top of that his name breaks down to mizu (water) and kitsune (fox)

lol mizutsune monsters are actually pretty docile. However, during mating season, the males become very aggressive, and those are the one’s you’re always fighting.

If you look at his tail, he has 9 spikes and 9 "points" that the fur parts of the tail make. So he is a 9-tailed fox in a way.
Its Japanese names translates to Tamamitsune, which comes from Tamamo-no-Mae, the actual nine tailed fox yokai. So yes, it is based on that.

However the coral highlands dont have enough water and are Mountain like zones. The majestic Malfestio would fit perfectly there. Mizutsune could go around at the sea side near the forest where Great Jagras usually goes to eat Aptonoth. Thats a good habitat for Mizutsune and would be as beautiful if you hunted it at night. And it would teach Anjanath who's the boss lol
It wont have any predators for it so it would be the apex of that area as Rathalos aparently dont go there (and Mizutsune are actually above Rathalos in difficulty so I dont know...)

I would like to see Amatsu as well... even being an Elder Dragon it still looks like a leviathan.
I gotta admit I like the design and colour of this Monster. Such a beautiful creature and it even has an awesome Theme.
Not only that, but to think it's probably one of the most reasonable monsters in the series according to it's ecology and such, saying it prefers to avoid conflict and would rather sleep and eat fish.

@@sisiyoru5130 A lot of the old themes were remixed to make them sound more orchestral, so that it fits into World considering it tends to be a more realistic game. As a result, some sound better or worse.
It looks like Capcom is doing the same for Rise to make the themes sound more Japanese-esque based on Mizutsune's theme alone. But Mizutsune's theme was already Japanese as hell.

I love how Mizutsune’s theme has a wafuku style. It really suits this monster since in my opinion, mizutsune gives out a kabuki vibe with all the twisting and jumping around.

I thought I would hate this guy before I fought him, but he turned out to be an awesome fight and this theme is so amazing, it's one I never get tired of.
Mizutsune brought me to monster hunter. I was browsing themes one day, doing a few wiki dives, enjoying the cool designs here and there and the music - and then, I found this absolute masterpiece and saw this beautiful monster and I just was in awe! I had to look up what game he was in, expecting it to be on a system I didn't have (like so many others) and imagine my delight and desire when I realized he was on Gen-ult, on the nintendo switch! I snapped up that game and, well, here I am. I love him in gen, i love him in rise, and his armor is so cool.

My favorite monster was the Gore Magula, until I saw this majestic beast. Plus, the theme is just simply amazing.

Mizutsune is still my absolute favorite monster in the series, I adore this bubbly floof. Although Amatsu, Nargacuga, and Legiana are definitely up there too.

my favorite monster despite never playing a MH game. its so god damn gorgeous looking with the pale scales and skin contrasting the deep purple fur. and the bubbles and soap theme to its attacks are unique and funny while still looking interesting.

This dragon, called the Tamamitsune, was originally a Chinese dragon báilóng, but this Tamamitsune has additional Japanese fox and snake motifs.
Byron is also enshrined in many Japanese shrines. in Japan. Byron is called 白龍Hakuryu. Means white dragon in english
Byron has also appeared in Pokemon
[Japanese name] ハクリュー Hakuryu
[English name] Dragonair
It will also appear as a Hakuryu(white dragon) in Studio Ghibli's anime movie "Spirited Away".
And this music uses a lot of traditional Japanese instruments such as shamisen, shakuhachi, wadaiko drum,Hyoushigi(Wooden stick) etc...

After watching some MH Frontier and MH Stories footage, I realized that there are very few monsters that escape the "muddy colors" problem. Mizu is one of them. Let him be in all new games.

I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the Fated Four are DLC, but for now according to the 15 anniversary picture, they seem to be focusing on the other flagships monsters.

+Aeropulse If I see a gunner helm that looks better than the blade (Gravios in 4, mizu in Gen), I get the gunner one and just upgrade it a lot. I use mizu blade and gunner, and used B.grav blade and Gunner in 4. Sometimes style is more important.

Stephen Lewis its apparently an instrument called a Hyoshigri. They’re wooden clappers covered in camellia oil, which makes the sound.
Hoping to maybe see this monster in Rise, I think it would fit the theme/world so well for that game.

IMO this one sounds better for a fight, the new one sounds more like you’re dancing with Mizu (which to me is still very good but I get how someone would prefer this)
Per. Cu. Ssions. Audible ones. The beats in Rise sound like they're muffled A LOT (Chameleos' theme is a great example). It can also be a design choice to use softer beats, but it just makes everything less intense. When I listen to Mizutsune's Rise theme, the shamisen plays where this version's drums were, so it's almost inaudible. I couldn't name the instruments because I'm unfamiliar, and a freaking noob, I believe I hear snares and a jiggly instrument 8 times per beat, then during the chorus, the small and big Japanese drums (you know the ones), wooden clangs, plus a taiko-daiko-type-drum in the background going crazy. I totally see that part being played during a Japanese festival. I don't know why I mentioned that.

I love everything about Mizutsune other than fighting the damn thing. I kept rolling underneath it when trying to vault off of it. And it moves around so much! Not great when you've just activated Demon Riot.

It is a delight to fight with adept dual swords, though
+Danodan94 I personally go for striker light bow gun or aerial/adept sword and board. I can abuse my range and mobility as well as become a stylish hunter with it. Aerial/adept sword and shield let me stay close to or on top of the beast, and no sell my way through attacks.

No 1 in popularity poll monster since it's debut: 2nd & 3rd are Zinogre and Nargacuga, Zinogre was like 5 times consecutive champion in a roll before got dethroned

I was doing a good job kicking it's ass in the Bulldrome quest during it's first appearance and the only reason I didn't kill it is because Drome died first and the quest ended.

i focused on Mizu and it killed me

I spent the first 45 mins of that quest killing this beast, I only suffered with a penalty for getting knocked out cold, most of my load out famished, and a dull blade, I almost failed the quest but I managed to kill the bulldrome on the last minute
In my second playthrough, knowing it will have double health in bulldrome quest and I still went in with HBG.
Didnt kill him, just caught him cuz I ran out of ammo.
i don't know which i like better... this or okami's rising sun... i love this kind of music. gets me pumped for the hunt! never understood why the okami quest wasn't related to this monster. would/ve been epic! at least i can battle this as prowler wearing it.
This one still beats the new version of the theme imo, the vocals dont add much and they muted the rest of the instruments to make the vocals be more prominent removing a lot of the energy this song had originally.
I completely agree. I feel that the vocals take away from the actual melody of the song, effectively making the vocals the "melody" since they overpower the actual melody itself at times. Bugs me a lot lol.
The Fated four need to be in world, Gammoth fits perfectly in the Hoarfrost reach, Astalos on the ancient forest, Misutzune on Coral highlands like a guy mentioned in the comments and well we already have Glavenus and also their subspecies would be awesome
2:40 i can picture he delivers a classic anime protagonist one liner or just dancing around in a mock last attacks of an already battered foe while he himself is badly wounded. I have a strange mind, I know, but don't we all?

What an elegant and beautiful looking monster.
Although we never see them in any of the games, I'd love to get the opportunity to encounter a colony of Mizutsune females, or even males outside the breeding season - the only Mizus we hunt are males that are overflowing with hormones. Normally Mizutsune are incredibly docile, even harmless as long as they are not threatened or harassed.
You could walk into a group of female Mizus, plop yourself down next to one that was fishing and throw a fishing line into the same body of water, and they wouldn't even give you a second thought.
I call this the Elegant leviathan.

My favorite monster. I love this monster so much I refused to kill it in game. I always captured it. I don't know what happens after that but at least I didn't kill it. Also you get more resources and this thing never drops some part I forgot.
Well thanks to the latest game, World, we now know that monsters are re-released after the scholars are done researching them.
In World, when you capture a monster they usually end up in the arena, so if you don't take that arena quest, they probably just kill a lot of would-be hunters in the arena and get fat in captivity
Any monsters captured in Monster Hunter are given to the person who gave you the quest. That person then does with the monster as they see fit, usually dissecting it for research and giving us the materials they don't need. In World, any monster captured is studied and then released into the Arena or back into the wild.
