- Magnamalo is a hulking Fanged Wyvern that bears some resemblance to a tiger. It is primarily clad in purple and yellow plates of armor, with a red underbelly. The head has a short, tigrine snout, holds two foldable tusks under its cheeks, and sports a large pair of jagged yellow horns, just underneath which are its long, thin ears. Both the forelegs and hindlegs end in four-clawed digits, and each foreleg is armed with a single large serrated blade, which is kept folded back, parallel with the leg. Magnamalo's tail ends in a spear-like tip composed of three spikes that can flex outwards to form a trident shape.

Magnamalo’s appearance is based on the armor of a dead samurai while it’s purplish flames are meant to resemble the onibi/will-o-the-wisps.
And the tail and blades on the forelimbs are based on spear and katana, 2 weapons commonly used by samurai

Some interesting lore about this guy:
-Magnamalo's hellfire, while not the souls of those it has devoured, is still a product of it consuming things - it is a waste gas created during its digestion. It uses the hellfire to keep its shell in tip-top shape. It maintains its supply of hellfire by consuming the bone marrow of its prey - this is why it seems to kill more than it needs to eat.
-On the matter of the shell, the white parts, which are often coated in hellfire to temper them, only ever grow once. Also, this white shelling, particularly the horns, is the means by which Magnamalos judge mating fitness. The males with the largest and most ornate horns will score the most ladies - as a result, Magnamalos fight carefully to prevent their white shells from being broken. A Magnamalo whose horns are broken is forever cut out of the mating game, as he is shunned by others of its kind...or rather, scorned.
-Many Magnamalos whose horns are broken will simply go out into the wilderness to die. But some do not. Scorned Magnamalo, a variant that appears in Sunbreak, is one such individual that refuses to just give up on living. Instead, it amps up its hellfire by consuming more and more bone marrow, and acquires more and more territory for more prey. Freed from the burden of having to care for its white shelling, it can truly go all out - this gives Scorned the capacity to take on elder dragons and actually win. When a Scorned Magnamalo consumes an elder dragon's bone marrow, its hellfire can become tinged with Dragon element, coloring it a hellish red rather than the usual purple and giving anyone who can actually survive the blast a nasty case of Dragonblight. However, this lifestyle is ultimately self-destructive, and it will either die biting off more than it can chew in terms of what it goes after, or perhaps its hellfire goes completely out of control, killing it from within.

Maybe he is an ancient protector of some ancient ruins (ancient civilization) haha

Now the fool seeks to return to the Shrine Ruins and undo the rampage that is Magnamalo.

So I may be stupid but I just discovered that when Magna changes zones and you take long enough to catch up, Magna will start licking his wounds. At that moment I realized he resembled a cat far more than any wolf.

DEFINITELY Thunderlord Zinogre would be a match. Hell maybe even Stygian Zinogre. With the whole Dragon Lightning goin on. Just know it would be the greatest turf war ANY HUNTER can witness.

Hellblight acts like Blastblight, but with a Wirebug-exclusive twist. If you use the Wirebug, you can pull yourself out of the Hellblight and leave it as a trap for Magnamalo. If he attacks it, it explodes and throws off his balance, knocking him down the first time and requiring multiple attempts for consecutive knockdowns. When he releases his gas, he has the same strategy as Nergigante: attack those spots as much as you can. Once you reach the damage threshold, the gas will explode before he can close his vents and causes him great pain, knocking him over. If you let him build up enough gas, it will turn a dark pink and he will be able to use one of his many super moves (one of which greatly resembles Nergigante's Heaven's Ruin move).
His telegraphs are very tricky to figure out, but always remember that he will not just sit there and let you attack him. If you feel like you are doing too much damage without him attacking, he is about to hit you almost without warning. Never let your guard down with him and don't let up on the offensive.
His breaks are the same as where his gas releases: head, back, forelegs, and his tail can be severed (it cuts of a chunk of the tail blade similar to Glavenus). His weapons all use Blast.
The Armor set INFLICTS Hellblight on you but the blast does scratch damage to you while the unfortunate monster near you will take a crapload of damage, on top of that you inflict more damage, playing further more off the 'Cursed Samurai Armor' motif.

@@gigaacademia9313 Mainly you'll want to drop that blight near them and let it detonate on em. Though if it goes off on ya ANYWAY it won't be a hinderance whatsoever due to it doing scratch damage with the full effect of the set.

His design screams corrupted warrior to me. His theme feels like an honourable duel against a demon and fighting him is the perfect level of difficulty to me. He is everything I want in a monster hunter fight and more. I'm so happy this was our flagship for rise cause he just feels so good to fight.

Update. Hearing this theme while farming Magnamalo for Magna Orbs: Agony
I'm predicting that Magnamalo isn't going to be the real bad guy of Rise and that it's going to be more of a red herring that turns out to be fighting to stop a greater evil of some sort. It's design shares obvious similarities with a samurai warrior and something about it's battle theme especially conveys a "tragic hero" kind of feeling to it.
That’s how theyve been doing monster hunter for years. The monster they advertise the game with is called the flagship, they always keep the final boss under wraps. 4 was advertised with Gore Magala, and they didn’t show the Shagaru until the end of the game

This theme is so damn good. One of my favourites of all time across all the games.
I didn't really like Magnamalo at first, I thought he looked kind of weird and just another Zinogre-like monster. Now, hearing his theme and seeing more footage of him, I think he's awesome.

This is a very very bad ass theme, and probably my favorite of the new themes in general.
We thought we were done with demo Magnamalo, but today, Capcom released him once again in the form of an Event Quest, and even stronger than before! Not only are we facing the High Rank version now, but we've been given the honour of getting one shot by him with our best armour set! But even if we were to beat him, he'll most likely want another rematch in Sunbreak. Whenever we'll face this dreadful Magnamalo again, I'll be ready. This theme will motivate all Hunters to face him!

End of the tutorial and a final exam for any newbie. It's all uphill from there.
Despite playing MH before Rise only on PSP (I didn't like World enough to even get through low rank), I managed to get to Magnamalo without failing any quests and did him in without carting once. Then Nargacuga and Rathalos happened, where I not only carted, but failed multiple times. To Rathalos mostly by being careless and not focusing on the game, but Nargacuga is still my nemesis, each and every fight with it requiring proper prep and undivided focus.

Magnamalo releases a gaseous form of nitrogen trioxide (a very volatile compound with the same coloration) as a sort of waste product as it digests it's prey. This leads to the possibility that the gas will be hindered if Magnamalo gets tired (or perhaps he never gets tired). The fact that his ability has nothing to do with other monsters becoming aggressive means that it is not responsible for the Rampage. Since that appears to be the case, what is causing the Rampage and the appearance of Apex monsters (also called Alpha to separate them from 4th gen Apex versions)?
I get the feeling that the Elder Dragon responsible is something immensely powerful and based off of a very dangerous youkai or perhaps even a god. My guess is that it is something like Yamata-no-Orochi, an eight-headed serpentine dragon who sought to devour the fairest of maidens only to be slain by the god Susano'o before getting it's eighth victim. It is possible that Kamura Village has something from this Elder Dragon that it wants back, which is serving as an heirloom for Hinoa and Minoto. Not only would it fit the legend, but the story goes that after Susano'o slew Orochi, he discovered a blade inside of the monster's body which he named Ama-no-Murakumo. This sword would later come to be known by a more famous name: Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, which serves as one of the Three Imperial Treasures of Japan.
What do you all speculate?

In Tri, Ceadeus is the cause of earthquake, not Lagiacrus
In P3rd, Zinogre was Kicked out by Amatsu
In World, They thought Nergigante is responsible for elder crossing and why Elders are acting weird while it's actually from Xeno
In Iceborne, The Guild thought the song was come from Velkhana. Only to found out it's from Shara

@@alvin7642 In Iceborne, Nergigante was theorized to prioritize Elder Dragons that were far too powerful for their own good. That is why it went after Zorah and Shara. This would also explain why we always fight Nergigante (not AT) in a specific area in the Elder's Recess: it was waiting for Xeno to reveal itself. Nergigante was simply following it's instincts to hunt down Elder Dragons, possibly lured to the New World by Xeno as well (how else would it know to show up every decade?). Magnamalo may be acting on either fear or perhaps curiosity as to why so many other monsters were attacking Kamura Village. The question is: does it have some kind of connection with the true cause of the Rampage or is it just another victim of circumstance like Velkhana was?

He is already an elder dragon level monster.He isn't triggering the calamity but is creating those apex monsters,who seems to be monsters almost getting killed by him.
Here after 2.0, he's capable of evenly fighting with kushala and teostra meaning he's already elder dragon level
@@sonicthehedgehog3327 thats wrong, apex monsters are described as Monster lords by Master Hojo. Exceptional Monsters that take control or cause a rampage. Japanese they're called alpha or pack leader basically meaning that ibushi and Narwa aren't the only sources of the rampage but mostly the main cause of a rampage, sometimes an apex will fill that role instead
