@@magnabueno5360same, those kinds of attacks are arguably the most unsuspecting dangerous move some monsters have in their arsenal. They can dish quite surprisingly high damage depending on your defense, rage status and what types of monster/rank you fought them. And they give little to no i-frame compared to the tumble after you got your ass blasted half way the area, but at least you're safe most of the time, can wirefall and in worst case scenario lying on the ground a little bit longer is literally can save you a cart if you use it wisely. This made me rethink, hard, about using Flinch Free or not on my main set as I'm pretty much don't have the attention looking at my health bar when I'm seeing an attack that looks like it barely scratches me.

i feel the subtle points of the theme further symbolize his fall. It's less majestic and heroic, more fast paced, raw and intimidating, almost as if the sky comet we all love turned into something more desperate and insane.

Grinding all the way to Hunter Rank 100 was totally worth it now that I got to fight Crimson Glow Valstrax. His original counterpart was not that hard once you got used to him, but this Variant is so much harder than I'd like to admit. He's one of the best hunts in Rise, hands down.
I managed to see CGV before HR 100 because I found it in someone else's expedition quest that I had randomly ended up in. I wacked it with my hammer so it would show up in my hunter's notes & then I noped out of there on my doggo
OG Valstrax already had some of those red glow when enraged so I'm pretty sure Crimson Glow is just and older, more experienced Valstrax and I love it.
They absolutely nailed Valstrax in Rise. He´s as much of a fun fight as in Gen Ultimate. The new rendition of his theme slaps too. That HR farming was very much worth it.

@@fen6300 not to worry, outside of the elder dragon list specifically, Ahtal-Ka is definitely one of my favorites. Favorite monster of all time tho is definitely Mizutsune
At 1:57, especially when he does his laser move, that's when everyone who fights him for the first time realizes... This isn't normal Valstrax, usually they are tame, passive, they fly around and accidentally crash into airships, but never go out of their way to cause harm or misfortune to us, at some points you might even consider them sights of worship or deities heralding chaos or good fortune in some lands, not here. Here, it comes to ground, and it wants to be known; it wants to find you, slowly peel you apart piece by agonizing piece until you scream for forgiveness, then send a blade into your chest before bisecting you or incinerating you with its laser. But, while it shows so many horrid things, it also tells us that it is asking for help in ending its suffering because nothing else seems to work because it KNOWS what Hunters can do. That got more depressing than I liked, but this is a Valstrax that fell from grace of course...
The percussion is so good in this version; it really adds to the frantic feeling that comes with battling Valstrax; dramatic impacts and pulse-pounding thumps make the action all the more invigorating. Really suits what Crimson's changes bring to the vibe of the fight!
@Cephalon Simaris he is *weak* in comparison with *Zenith Plesioth* , the hipcheck was so power that destroy MHO and MHFrontier like the Guildmam eating you food in MHW.
Valstrax is such an amazing Monster. If you think about It from an In-universe perspective...It can Literally run away at any second and nothing will be able to catch it...But it is so Adamantly attached to the fight that it will either kill you or die trying...
This theme some how reminded me of Chaotic Gore Magala's theme, and it makes sense consider how the nature of them are kinda similar (both went berserk due to pain)
Valstrax was a thrill ride in MHGU, and Crimson Glow is just as much of a thrill ride in Rise. I absolutely lost my shit when I saw the reveal! I was among those who were already very experienced with Valstrax going in, so Crimson Glow felt like an average Monday morning stroll with a few new (and awesome) bells and whistles. But even despite that experience, Valstrax *never* gets old for me. This was a monster that I gladly farmed in and out to make all weapons and the armor in MHGU, and you can bet that I had absolutely no reservations about doing it again. I had 100+ hunts in MHGU, and I'm sitting at 70+ in Rise already. I just absolutely love this monster and its gear! It was also super cool to watch the newcomers from World/Iceborne experiencing Valstrax for the very first time. Brings me straight back to the old days!
This theme is amazing! To be honest, I hadn't paid enough attention to the music when I fought for the first time against this Valstrax, but as soon as I played this I got shivers down my spine! It took me 81 hunts to get both gold crowns and I haven't gotten over it.
I absolutely love how Valstrax literally dive bombs you from afar if you are fighting another monster and minding your own buds. He just just says F you and crashes EVERYONE.
I personally love it, it might not top the OG version for sure but then again this is a variant of Valstrax so I don't mind the changes that badly, still better than what they did with Glavenus's theme in World.
People say that the GU version is the better one, which is perfectly fine, the original was more up beat I'll admit... but ya know what's the one thing that the Rise version does better than the original? THEY ENCORE THE CLIMAX OF THE SONG! 1:05 - 1:34 is honestly THE best part and why I can't help but prefer this over the original.
I really like this version if Val’s theme but tbh, I like the old one better. The old one sounds more intense than this one. Nevertheless, still a really good theme 👍
Take away the fancy name and this pretty much is just regular Valstrax. It has regular Valstrax's entire G-Rank moveset from GU, plus the new stuff which would need to be added regardless to account for wirebugs.
Nature. Peregrine falcons dive into their preys from the back. We can also think about falcons with the roar, and the main design that includes a beak and claws...
@@shadowdragun they can definitely do that in only one hit to their preys ,if the dive successfully hit them though. The reason is that they are the fastest creatures on this planet. And they generally show you how when diving for food. Ambush is nothing else than a representation of this hunting style, if you stand still when the valstrax is in the air you will always see it coming from your back, but never in front of you, just like its feathered counterpart.
Am I the only one who think that this version is Stressing us out? Like if we don't kill it rapidly we might witness the end of the monster hunter world?
I may be the odd one out with this but I really prefer this compared to the original track in GU. The new percussions make the flow and pace of the track much faster, matching perfectly the flow of the fight and the vibe of the monster. I realize they may sound less aggressive compared to the og track but I feel that it suits more the agile and speedy movements of crimson Val. In addition, I love how capcom fully committed on the chorus, looping the main leitmotif twice, it makes it sound much more iconic! Last but not least the subtle swells of the trumpet sections add a lot of depth to the tracks giving this feeling of an actual rocket lunch!
I never get tired of Monster Hunter OST. Is one of my favourite things of this game, the music fits so perfectly with the moment, the monster... Is amazing how the composer is able to get the monster personality, behaviour and attacks and transform it into the perfect intervals, harmonies, etc... To me is probably the best OST in videogames history. The power of Zinogre, the gracefulness of Mizutsune dance, the colossal steps of Gammoth, the primal feeling of Glavenus, the brutality of Rajang, the calm and warmth that you feel when you are in the village... What about the silence when you fight Khezu because is blind? AWESOME. I could talk hours about how they play with sounds in this game. Even the main theme is preparing you for the absolute epicness that this game is!! I repeat it again, to me this is probably the best OST in videogames history.
So last night I finally got to Hunter Rank 100 and got to fight this thing, I have this Veteran Friend who got me into the series (Rise being my first game) and he had helped me grind Hunter Rank that day cause I had bought GenU, and we agreed I had to beat Crimson Glow Valstrax in order to move onto that game, and when we got to Valstrax we were both so hyped, he'd been making jokes for a few days about how he'd laugh so hard watching me die against Valstrax, but he asked me when we got into the quest if I wanted to fight it alone, I was like "yeah!", because as the friends put it, I'm a bit of a masochist when it comes to MH. So after getting max Spiribirds I engaged Valstrax, and within 15-20 minutes I didn't cart, and I even cut the tail, but It was exhilarating for me to be honest. I did eventually cart once but held my ground, fast forward 10 minutes left, and my friend was concerned, he had been watching this entire time and was like "Want me to step into help?" Valstrax wasn't even showing the Low Health symbol yet, but I was like "No, let me get to 5 minutes then you can step in." Eventually the 5 minute mark hit and the friend asked again, I said yes, and we killed it within 3 minutes after that. My friend, even though he had to step in was impressed with the fact I managed to live against Crimson Glow, he expected me to lose all my carts basically immediately. I only lost one cart the entire time, and the cart was very far into the fight. Overall, I have to say Crimson Glow really got my Adrenaline running, it's my favorite fight of Rise. Now I've moved onto Gen U and am looking forward to fighting Mizu in it!
I love how in Rise, Valstrax has reached its peak. Meaning in the Crimson Glow stage of its life, it doesn’t know what it’s doing most of the time. But in XX it’s a legendary creature that can outmaneuver everything it fights or is after
Because GU Val is the glorious shooting star, his theme is filled with freedom, Rise Val is just the dude filled with insanity because of his own dragon energy overflowing
The end of its roar makes it sound like it’s in pain. Almost makes me feel sad for it. Also makes me wonder if that’s why it always looks for a fight, perhaps this will be the one to end its suffering at long last
Man this fight always puts you on edge, similar to the bloodbath diablos. One of my favourite flagships and I can't wait to fight it! (You need hr100 to fight it btw)

@Thomas Wray I feel like they did that on purpose because most of the players itching for new content are already at 199+
This boi was great. Going for one weapon or armour piece a day, maybe two.
Third fav Elder behind Cham and Nami.
@Thomas Wray rank grind seems to be the easiest in this game as opposed to any other monster hunter game.

I don't trust anymore attacks that barely flinch you, or don't at all.

I've kinda got mixed feelings on the changes here. On one hand, the song feels a lot faster, which fits, but on the other, I feel like a lot of the high points don't hit just as hard. In the end though, it's still Val's theme, and it's still great-
Maybe because Val instead of the glorious shooting star from GU, has become a dragon filled with insanity because of his own overflowing energy
i feel the subtle points of the theme further symbolize his fall. It's less majestic and heroic, more fast paced, raw and intimidating, almost as if the sky comet we all love turned into something more desperate and insane.

Even his theme sounds like a start of a space battle.
The sole reason I still play Rise is because of this guy. I've not seen his fight, but my god he is a badass monster.
Does anyone else hear a glimpse of the Pokémon main theme on the trumpets at 0:36? I hear this when hunting
welcome back, ace combat dragon. i missed you.
This theme is amazing! To be honest, I hadn't paid enough attention to the music when I fought for the first time against this Valstrax, but as soon as I played this I got shivers down my spine! It took me 81 hunts to get both gold crowns and I haven't gotten over it.
Absolutely love fighting this guy, no wonder he's loved by almost everyone
I like both themes, basic Val is more noble and collected while crimson glow is fucking psychotic and the themes do a great job of signifying that
I absolutely love how Valstrax literally dive bombs you from afar if you are fighting another monster and minding your own buds.
I never played MHGU so seeing this NASA monstrosity was super exciting! Definitely one of the best first time Valstrax battles I had on RISE.

I really like this version if Val’s theme but tbh, I like the old one better. The old one sounds more intense than this one. Nevertheless, still a really good theme 👍
After playing 4 monster games (with rise as one of them), after the first time I hunted this monster, he already became my favorite in the series
I'm surprised we still didn't get the OG with Crimson Glow.
I don't know if I should give it to this or the old one because they both capture valstrax really well

Am I the only one who think that this version is Stressing us out? Like if we don't kill it rapidly we might witness the end of the monster hunter world?
The first 20 seconds are the last music you hear before the Crimson Comet crashes with an ear-ringing blast
I’m with you on this. Both are great, but the rise version is slightly better to me.
"DM, can't we fight something harder than rats?"

Hmm, I wonder who this vet friend of yours is, sounds like a pretty cool guy if you ask me

eardrums out a minute in at Mach 6
I love how in Rise, Valstrax has reached its peak. Meaning in the Crimson Glow stage of its life, it doesn’t know what it’s doing most of the time. But in XX it’s a legendary creature that can outmaneuver everything it fights or is after
I like the fast pace, but the original is more glorious sounding imo
Because GU Val is the glorious shooting star, his theme is filled with freedom, Rise Val is just the dude filled with insanity because of his own dragon energy overflowing
Valstrax is a comet crossing the sky
Crimson Glow is a Meteor falling into the earth
The end of its roar makes it sound like it’s in pain. Almost makes me feel sad for it. Also makes me wonder if that’s why it always looks for a fight, perhaps this will be the one to end its suffering at long last
And now, Elden ring have a boss who ambush like the valstrax...
And the theme was playing in my head
Probably my favorite elder and possibly favorite monster in general
