Big and menacing, the Lord of the Sea is a powerful leviathan.
Monster Hunter Tri was my first Monster Hunter game, and I recall the theme fondly. In this alternative score, I start with a lilting theme in 3/4 to imitate the rocking feel of a boat. Once the trumpets kick in, I quote a semblance of the original Desert Island Theme, but in the new menacing context. Synths and other electronic pulses keep surging (pun intended) here and there to suggest his thunder abilities.
The melody eventually slithers up and down an octatonic scale, faster and faster, as the pulse grows more intense before looping back to the main theme. I wanted weight, lilt and conjunct (scale-like) passages to represent the sea, the serpentine monster, and the didgeridoo/synth and full orchestra for the extra flavours.

Sounds pirate-y, and I appreciate that you kept the “To One With Life” motif in there!

And yet again, Wsiaki never fails to deliver. I was actually playing Tri when you dropped this, and I immediately had to start a Legiacrus hunt. (I am currently fainted on the ground, watching said Legiacrus disappear into another zone.) The music fits better than I could have imagined had I not been playing, and I’m so glad you did one of my favourite monsters.

Honestly the first minute gives siege monster vibes, potentially for siege hunt vs an adult Ceadeus? The other half, though, is much more brutal in nature, something which fits a more mobile and vicious predator like Lagiacrus. Overall it has that sea/coastal tone, which really fits Lagiacrus. Also, that addition of "To One with Life" is just perfection, so powerful! Absolutely love this track!

A return to more intensity! I love the melodic strings over more fast/intense percussion. I've never fought lagiacrus (I was too bad at video games when my family owned a Wii to enjoy Tri), but the design alone is so intriguing, and it's nice to see a theme for him!
This is exactly what i needed. Perhaps it could have sounded more menacing overall to capture what it was like to first face Lagi during the monster guts harvest, but i still love it.
I remember the excitement and the dread of finally fighting this thing!
This is so fire once again, keep up the stellar work!!

@Canal25bits I have some ideas I want to try, nothing recorded yet. It won’t be by the 20th, the next couple of weeks will be crazy (3 school concerts, a gig with a band, 3 days of school field trips…) but maybe after the mayhem the progress will pick up. End of February / early March is my goal.
You should make a Gold Rathian theme! It should Imo incorpate the majesty and beauty of Mizu, while also having the booming threat and danger of rathalo's theme!

I don’t have a way of recording footage from consoles other than my PS4, but I know there’s something I could technically purchase.
Or if someone wants to mute the soundtrack and send me their footage (at least 6 minutes of fighting) that could work!
This is such a good spin on the theme, very unique and is very fitting for lagi make me wanna open Tri up just for a hunt!

It’s been on hold a couple weeks, I’ve been playing a few concerts and shows. Last show is on Tuesday, so I’ll get back to it next week. Mid March is looking more likely.
I have a question do you have plans to launch the alatreon theme this March and after that you are going to do banbaro right?? and then there will be a vote of 3 monsters that you will do first I just want some update on the alatreon theme, how is development going?
I’ve got something in the works, I’m putting every free hour of my time into it. I’m trying to finish the music by this weekend. Once that’s done, I’ll need to give my ears a break to mix and master it and make it presentable. We’ll see, I made some good progress today.
I sent a message in the video with the list of monsters that you are going to make, the themes, please see there and how the development of the alatreon is going, this is the last time that0p0 I will say no If you're worried, is there any chance of it coming out at the end of this month or only in April because I'm very anxious that I would need to use it to do a Brazilian series that I'm doing in Minecraft but I'll wait ok
