As soon as De Bruyne steps on the pitch, you have a massive problem. His ability to find space in tight areas is second to none and every touch he takes is perfection. Play foden over him against Arsenal and Arsenal win the league last season. Foden is an incredible talent but De Bruyne is the best midfielder in world football.

Better player than Keane, Better tempo setter, more dominant physically (6 ft plus), tactical fouls, passing, he's a creator and a metronome, and he has goals in his locker. UCL Final, Bayern, Villa final day, winner against sheffield just a couple weeks ago, assist in the super cup if you want to bring big moments into it. Agree to an extent. Think it really helps he's been in a Pep side and not a Mancini or Pellegrini team. I just think if were objectively talking the most complete midfielder to ever live it has to be Gerrard. Besides trophies there isn't a single facet of the game he wasn't incredible at. Vision, long-range passing, finishing, set pieces, leadership, work rate, tackling, loyalty, etc. KDB is as offensively gifted but nowhere close in the other categories.

@@BiggestBirdonMars I don't know if I can agree with KDB being "one of the best players in the world" while on loan at Werder Bremen then two seasons at Wolfsburg. He was incredible but Kai Havertz was also star in Germany too.
But that's the thing- Gerrard did play CAM when Torres was in the team and was phenomenal... had 60 G/A in those three seasons. He's also played the box-to-box role and DM in his last three seasons which included a 13 goal 13 assist season. There's just no CM like him.

Adam actually knows Man U history and whips out old school references relatively frequently. I haven't really heard Buvey ever reference anything City pre 2010 [pre Pep even]. Buvey also rarely mentions how EASY it is to be a City fan, particularly with Middle East oil money at your back. Being a City fan is easier than being one of any other pro sports team in the world. Hands down. Includes club rugby, NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, etc.
Since Ferguson left Man United, the two teams have played each other 25 times. Man City have won 13, Man United have won 9 (other 3 were draws obviously). Considering Man Utd have been very up and down in that time it’s relatively close so could be interesting.
It’s only interesting when they play each other, for the other 36 games of the year it’s not even close
It’s a derby, form means nothing. City have also won 20+ trophies in that time and united won about 2.

Scholes and Giggs are probably the 2 most over rated players in history, played in the best team in the world for about 40 years between them and only scored double figures in the league 4 times between them. Nostalgia is the only reason they're rated these days, if they were playing now they wouldn't get near City's players and I don't even like City. Also in terms of success like Buvey pointed out, people say City bought their success, which they did, but don't say the same for United who regularly outspent everyone and broke transfer records under Ferguson.

KDB is a wonderful player. Undoubtably one of the best in the world over his time at city. However if you think he was a better passer of the ball than Scholes then you either were not around at the time, have a very short memory of are just in denial.
Scholes was well known to commonly in training hit his teammates in the back of the head over and over again from 40 yards for a laugh.
Scholes was simply for a large amount of time overshadowed by Beckham as was every other player in PL history.
KDB is a different gravy, and I am old enough to watch prime united teams back in the day.

Towards the end of his career when Scholes was playing very deep he was being referred to as the English Pirlo (Scholes was also the only PL player Pirlo named in his all time best Champions League squad) as a comparison to one of the best passers in the history of the game. As you should also then remember there were calls in the media for Scholes to be reintroduced to the England squad when he was over 35 for the way he was completely dominating/dictating PL games with his passing range across the pitch from deep.

Yaya, Scholes, Keane, Giggs, KDB, Silva, Beckham, and I’d even put Rodri in there.
It can't be dismissed because say Man City win like another 3 or 4 CL's leagues in the next 20 years & another 10 or 11 titles then it's a debate.
Man Utd were behind Liverpool as a big club until Ferguson, then that changed. The way Peps going if he stays at City, he can end up with a record similar to Fergusons.
If City have another decade like 2013-2023, I'd argue we'd be bigger than them either way. It's not really a number's game, if you have failed to win the Prem for 20 years and your rival just won it, it doesn't matter if you got a couple more Prems than your rival, you are inferior. We did hype up Onana and he has been bad so far, we are not even 15 games in yet. De bruyne is by far the best premier league era midfielder, scholes was a cf for a lot of his career and he was never the best player in any of the title winning man united sides. Passing-wise he's top 2 with beckham on crossing and he's by far and a way the best through-ball, playmaking, dynamism, making split second decisions in congested areas.
