      the thing that sucks is that most vacations that jobs allow are 2-3 weeks long, only nurses pharmacists and doctors could afford the time to travel this way, but they choose business class, and of course elderly for whom it is too much stress to take an airplane

      And the food is usually better than at many hotels too! lol Remember, regular people live and work there and they need to stay happy too. :D You can strike up some cool and interesting conversations with the crew, because as you can see, you're eating with them as a guest on their ship. The Captain and fist officer eats with them too. They're usually a tight-knit group because they have to get along pretty well to run a ship well.

    I am addicted. I'm going to go and watch every single video you have on this.
    I've always been a HUGE fan of smaller living. Tiny houses. Walking across America. Camping and just self sufficiency living. But this is a whole new level of being on your own style travel.
    It may be a bit more expensive than most, but if you get 3 meals, your own room and all that room to explore.. then yes, it is a new and exciting way to travel!
    You've opened my eyes to a whole new thing!!!!
    Also.. could you of gone up into the cargo containers and up to the bow of the ship?

    • @TheTravelingClatt
      @TheTravelingClatt  7 лет назад +3

      No you couldn't go into containers but YES you could go to the Bow of the ship. And you sound like my kinda dude Andrew! Live it up bro you got the right mindset

      you can simply book cruise trips on freight ships, starting from tiny lake or river boats up to gigantic container ships. you can book routes like europe-america or america-australia and be on a ship for a month if you want. most freight ship companys take passengers with them on the ships. often you have access to restricted areas as well, sometimes escorted or even free come and go. just google it tho

    There is a difference between a "boat" and a "ship." My understanding is that a "boat" is a seagoing vessel that can be carried on a larger seagoing vessel. "Lifeboat" is a good example. The larger vessel is called a "ship". "Ships" on the other hand, cannot be carried on other seagoing vessels. You traveled on a ship, not a boat. No one on the crew would have called your vessel a "boat." Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

    You are just lovely! Thanks for posting such quality info. This is on my list of things to do in the next couple of years. One question I have as a solo female traveler... are there women on the boat? Like, employees, I mean. I am sure I'd be safe doing this alone, boats are usually run pretty strictly... I just wonder and I'd feel better if there were at least a couple other women.

    According to a game Monstrum there's got to be a lower decks on the ship with some nice little eggs layed out in containers. Try to verify this in later videos, instead of showing gym, which existence on all big ships is not in any doubt.

    Is this drastically cheaper way of travel? Or did you do it solely for fun? Or both?
    Really amazing either way!

      +Benedict T. Not cheaper. I did it for the experience but it is not a means of transportation at all!

    How does the immigration work in ships? My dad is a seafarer and I haven't asked him yet about it.

    Okay so old video I get it, but for curiosity was this the first time you had been on a ship? I have thought about doing some cruise ship travel because I am older and have the time and am wondering how I would handle it. The difference is that I spent a couple of years in my youth in the US Navy.
