Everyone seems to be complaining about the change in style, and I'm just sitting here loving this multi-city-inspired album that is giving off a 60s/70s rock'n'roll feel. The Foos have kept modern rock alive, now they're reviving classic rock. These guys are heroes - "My Hero"s to be exact! :)
Foo Fighters will forever be one of my all time favorite bands. No matter what different styles they pursue, I'll always support them. They're keeping true rock surfaced enough to stay alive above ground. Legends. Rock on guys!!!
I don't mean to spam the comments section, but I think some people are forgetting the concept that created this album. Of course the styles of each song will be somewhat different and this album will definitely be different from other Foo albums. But if you understand and know the background to how this album was inspired to be made, you'll definitely get it. If you don't, look it up, it'll help you get it. And if you absolutely hate it, to each his own, but still don't give up on them. This is basically a concept album so it doesn't define them permanently from here on out. Either way, I'll always love these guys.
Thank you, that was what I was just preaching. lol When the Foo Fighters go back into the studio with the sole intention of just making another great rock album and nothing else; THAT is the day we'll hear their greatest music to date. For now, I'll do more than just enjoy these awesome little experiments and "love letters to American music". These 4 songs are fantastic.
Thanks man. haha I've had it since I was like 13. I'm 19 now, never wanted to change it. xD But yeah, no matter what, the real fans will stick by and appreciate what they're doing here. It's awesome.
Awesome haha. Don't take this weirdly, but I'm gonna subscribe to you because it's rare to find cool people on RUclips, haha and I just like bookmarking them as 'hey, this dude's cool.'
Four incredible songs down, four to go. I can't imagine what the whole thing is going to sound like; halfway through it already has my vote for Album of the Year!
I met you on one of the darkest days of my life, thank you for spending that moment with me and my girl - you are still writing those songs for me....I will always treasure that day!
What Did I Do? / God As My Witness" There you go again, putting words into my mouth. This one's for you to know, and for me to find out. All that trouble, and you on about. How you gonna know, til you hear it out loud. Stop, ask myself what did I do? what did I do to deserve you? Come on, tell me now what did I do? what did I do to deserve you? I heard every word comin' from the 13th floor. Your song came along, and I heard the voices telling me to save yourself, I'll behave yourself. I stop, ask myself what did I do? what can I do to preserve you? Come on, tell me now, what can I do? What can I do to conserve you? Your name, year of fame, I could see the writing on the wall. Come on, flip a coin, bet it's going to tell you to save yourself, I'll behave yourself. Your man, channelin', knowin' by the x on his hand You raise, runaways singin' at the gate, to save yourself, I'll behave yourself. So here I go again, putting words into your mouth. This one's for me to know, and for you to find out. All that trouble and I'm on about, how you gonna know, til you hear it out loud. All of your heroes, where are they now? I'm lost, deliver me, I crossed the river finally. God as my witness, yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight. God as my witness, yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight. God as my witness, yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight. God as my witness, yeah you gonna heal my soul tonight. God as my witness, yeah you gonna heal my soul tonight.
I haven't had much faith with in the music industry, for a long time. Then came the Foo Fighters!!!!!! Thank you guys. I believe again!!! Rock on!!!!!!!!!
Just listened to the remaining 4 songs "Outside", "In the Clear", "Subterranean", and "I Am a River"...SO AWESOME. Love the back half better than the first half by a thousand miles!
I am addicted to the FOO FIGHTERS....I cannot go a single day without listening. Vey talented musicians. The journey they were on when they wrote the music and lyrics was a journey of a life time. We are all getting the benefit of that soulful trip.
In the end of the track, i listened Queen: "so you think you can stone and spit in my eye" Bohemian Rhapsody guitar's riff. Another great track! Keep rocking Foos! I'll be waiting here in Brazil :)
This album to me is the what the foos stand for pure rock and admiration for it, it tells story of the beginning, in my opinion better than wasting light! but thats a sore topic for some
"God as my witness, gonna heal my soul tonight"This is album that just felt, sounded great the first, but gets better every times. Awesome project.Thank-you, Foo's.
My personal favorite song on the album. Got to see them play it live for the first time ever when they did their taping for Austin City Limits about a month ago.
Okay, people please. We all have our own opinions which differ from each other. One may hate this song one may love it. I personally love it,but that doesn't mean I have to go and pick a fight in the comments section with someone who says they're disappointed. Music feeds our souls, so listen to what you enjoy and find inner peace (that probably sounds religious but it's not). Look at the bright side, this song (like many others on the album) where wrote as a love letter to american music. Bands such as the Foo Fighters make music because they love to, it's their passion. They are doing a project like this as an experiment of sorts, and the concept is amazing but really hard to pull of! Anyways, what I'm trying to say is at least this isn't Nikki Minaj or some other shit that is made for the pure purpose of profit. And if you like music by Nikki so what? It's your opinion to so why should everyone else jump on you. Music is amazing and we all share a love for it; so why do we have to jump on someone if their taste differs from ours?
Christon Varner-Halback It's just like saying "Oh My God" That statement alone doesn't determine one's religion. Although Dave is a Christian (I think, correct me if I am wrong) I feel people are interpreting the song wrong.
***** I thought the same thing about Dave being a Christian until I saw the Sonic Highways tv show when he says he's not even sure if he believes in god and also states unambiguously that he's not religious at all in the Nashville episode whilst talking about how the music from that area is influenced by gospel. I'm an atheist and I definitely judged this song by it's name before i even heard it, but it's one of my favourite's off the album. So what if it was intended to be religious anyway? It wouldn't make the music any more or less beautiful in it's own right!
Love seeing the "new video, foo fighters" update on my phone. It reminds me of how close the album is to be released and how excited I am to pick it up and listen to it relentlessly for days.
IDGAF what people say about this band, the Foos keep getting better and better! I always say they will never top their last album and they never cease to amaze me and I love them that much more for it! This album is going to be fucking fantastic!!! Too the Foos!!
This is pure beauty. One of the best songs I've heard in a while! I love the concept of this album and THIS is one hell of a great song! I already hope to hear this live at Rock Im Park next year. :D
I caught the "All You Need Is Love" riff pretty much instantly, and automatically assumed it had to be deliberate. Just like how Oasis used the "Imagine" piano riff on "Don't Look Back In Anger", in fact, this is probably the most epic "homage" I've heard since then!
Thanks! I didn't catch "all you need" riff until you mentioned it. This song has really grown on me. They did a great job of representing Austin's past and future both lyrically and musically.
I love this shit and if you don't then oh well man. What can I say? Foo Fighters are one hell of a band and always have been. I cannot wait to hear the rest of the tunes on this record. I am buying this album now. I am and always will be a Foo Fighters fan. They will always be my favourite band. Nothing will change about that
this goes to all the people hating this album i think you all should be glad that dave and the rest of the band are still around giving us some kick ass music im really blessed listening to this music its great !!!!
Wonderful, each album with his face, and the face of this album is very mature. And it is one of the few bands currently in my opinion that is the height of rock in the world!
The best comments you read down every new song that is released of Sonic Highways are the comments by people who actually know how this album is written, probably cause they watch the HBO sonic Highways show as well. And with the knowledge of that docu this album is actually a incredible piece of music! So to all the people who did there research, Thank you!
Dave I am really sorry about Taylor. I been to 1 funeral of my friend and I got another fkn one to go to as my friends are dropping too young and too soon, and these 2 were friends. I know exactly how you are feeling. Love to all of you especially Taylor's family.
I don't get why people are hating on this. Sure it's not their hardest rocking music but it's still good. I for one like that this different musical styles show off their range. This was a very ambitious musical project and in my opinion they've executed it nearly flawlessly
I see this album is a love letter to rock n roll, and not really a Foo Fighters record. That's just me though. Fantastic, I love all the songs. This record is perfect for what it is.
I think the album's been really good so far. Really cool to see the different styles each song takes on. I don't see how people dislike it so much. I've been enjoying it a lot. You can hear the passion Dave puts into this one at around 4:00 and onwards. Killin' it.
Foo Fighters...you guy,s do a killer good job with everything you do...i wish i could see you guy,s in concert...but hey keep the great Music Coming we love it man
Damn this is great! Foo Fighters have never done anything like it but it is truly great!!! I knew they were gonna bring something great for the Austin track!!!
"Your man, channeling, know him by the X on his hand" hits different when you've been front row at a FF show with X's on your hands. Don't know if I, or anyone, will ever see them live again. RIP Taylor 😞
I think it rocks....comparisons to Foo's 'other' songs are inevitable, yet are irrelevant. This has the classic energy, power, passion and all-things Foo........watching the songs performed at the end of each of the Sonic Highways TV episodes, played at volume, made my spine tingle. They continue to rock, continue to be one of the world's hardest working bands, and they remain The Foo Fighters. Fans are divided....and i get that......but even the Foo's must evolve, and they have done here....but not at all in a bad way. My ears continue to hear - without them having any choice at all - the same hard, driving force & passion that The Foo Fighters have always brought to me.....and i look forward to much, much more of that..
This is a really important album for rock, and the foo fighters really put out an amazing record. Not only that but they are practically releasing it for free before the release date. In an industry filled with garbage right now, this album is really solid.
This has a more Sweet Home Alabama vibe, I'm not saying that ripped off somebody else, but these songs are making my day, I go to school listening to this songs and I'm very amazed how Foo Fighters make a Wonderful record, just from going into different studios, Man I Can't wait for the album to come out, only 3 days left!
I've been watching to the series and listening to the songs, carefully. What I think, so far, of the album is that it is more a tribute to music than a Foo Fighters album, and I'm saying this as positive thing. Until I listen to the whole album I can't say if the songs are good or bad. So far, I'm enjoying the process. Peace.
If you dont like the new songs you probably don't and won't get it. But that's cool it just takes a little time and listening to some more and you'll probably start to like the new stuff. Dave G. Is definitely a rock n roll Ninja. Peace and have a blessed day.
People.. If you're saying foo fighters don't sound as themselves.. Literally no album of them has the same sound. They always reinvent themselves and in a way make it happen as a foo fighters record. I think that dave still did a pretty good job on that concidering the fact that he must've had a really hard time doing this in one week and changing from influence every week. Plus you shouldn't go around saying they're not foo fighters anymore you should just listen if you like the music.
Many people don't like these new songs, but in my opinion, they're awesome. Foo Fighters show why they're different from many other bands that do always the same kind of sound. It sounds different, but we know their identity.
Heck yeah 😁😁
Foo Fighters will forever be one of my all time favorite bands. No matter what different styles they pursue, I'll always support them. They're keeping true rock surfaced enough to stay alive above ground. Legends.
Rock on guys!!!
Day after day when I listen to FF, its hard to live without taylor's drumming.
GrohlStatus Absolutely agree. And all the real Foo fans will be right here no matter what. Btw, badass username man hahaha
Thanks man. haha I've had it since I was like 13.
Alright! I'll do the same! haha
Thanks for all the legendary tempos brother, rest in peace Taylor! We all miss you!
Foo Fighters are unquestionably one of the best rock bands in the history of rock, and they continue to inspire others to create.
Four incredible songs down, four to go. I can't imagine what the whole thing is going to sound like; halfway through it already has my vote for Album of the Year!
A live version of "Outside" was released a few hours ago, it's great.
Mitch Wotton 3 to go...
Mitch Wotton yes but it sounds like the break on The Pretender repeatadley
does not u lil shit
Listen to it very carefully.
And then I might listen to what you say
This song is an incredible mix of Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Queen and God knows what else hahaha. Beautiful masterpiece!
That riff at 3.45 is similar to All you need is love by the Beatles
Foo fighters my First band....♥️♥️♥️
This has Classic Rock written all over it. Great song, things just keep getting better.
This is too much guys, I cried a lot with this song. Is just perfect.
God as my witness, it's going to heal my soul tonight.
💗
I'm not religious but that composition and lyric just bring me to tears, as does 'River.
such a magnificent album. 🙌❤
Grohls best bit of vocals IMO
I met you on one of the darkest days of my life, thank you for spending that moment with me and my girl - you are still writing those songs for me....I will always treasure that day!
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I love bands that grow and expand their wings. The Foo has done this time and time again. Love love this. Only complaint? Wish it was longer.
I don't think these guys have ever put anything out that sucks. Good job fellas. I like it.
Really feeling this song!! Something about it, the rhythm and vocals throughout, but especially at 3:30 onwards!!
What Did I Do? / God As My Witness"
There you go again,
putting words into my mouth.
This one's for you to know,
and for me to find out.
All that trouble, and you on about.
How you gonna know, til you hear it out loud.
Stop, ask myself what did I do?
what did I do to deserve you?
Come on, tell me now what did I do?
what did I do to deserve you?
I heard every word comin' from the 13th floor.
Your song came along,
and I heard the voices telling me to save yourself,
I'll behave yourself.
I stop, ask myself what did I do?
what can I do to preserve you?
Come on, tell me now, what can I do?
What can I do to conserve you?
Your name, year of fame,
I could see the writing on the wall.
Come on, flip a coin, bet it's going to tell you
to save yourself, I'll behave yourself.
Your man, channelin', knowin' by the x on his hand
You raise, runaways singin' at the gate,
to save yourself, I'll behave yourself.
So here I go again,
putting words into your mouth.
This one's for me to know,
and for you to find out.
All that trouble and I'm on about,
how you gonna know, til you hear it out loud.
All of your heroes, where are they now?
I'm lost, deliver me,
I crossed the river finally.
God as my witness,
yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight.
God as my witness,
yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight.
God as my witness,
yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight.
God as my witness,
yeah you gonna heal my soul tonight.
God as my witness,
yeah you gonna heal my soul tonight.
One of my favourite concerts is Foo Fighters! Their energy and friendship came through!
I've cried many times to this song, especially the second part. Just beautiful.
I haven't had much faith with in the music industry, for a long time. Then came the Foo Fighters!!!!!! Thank you guys. I believe again!!! Rock on!!!!!!!!!
i just love how the song transforms into a different tune! Awesome! just reminds me of old rock music...... ! brings me back in time!
Just listened to the remaining 4 songs "Outside", "In the Clear", "Subterranean", and "I Am a River"...SO AWESOME. Love the back half better than the first half by a thousand miles!
Subterranean by far is the strangest song, GREAT foo vibe and into new territory with Ben Gibbard on vocals. LOVE IT.
Waiting for the Foo's to come back to Toronto.I saw them last time they were here. They are an amazing band.
I am addicted to the FOO FIGHTERS....I cannot go a single day without listening. Vey talented musicians. The journey they were on when they wrote the music and lyrics was a journey of a life time. We are all getting the benefit of that soulful trip.
I was a little uncertain about this album at first but the more I listen to it the more I love it. Another great piece of work by Foo Fighters.
In the end of the track, i listened Queen: "so you think you can stone and spit in my eye" Bohemian Rhapsody guitar's riff. Another great track! Keep rocking Foos! I'll be waiting here in Brazil :)
As músicas desse álbum estão lembrando outras músicas demais, sei não... k' Pelo visto "The Fears and The Famine" vai ser a melhor música desse álbum.
Carascoroscovaldo tmbm to achando
Não chega nem no chulé do primeiro. Aquele sim é um álbum foda, o melhor pra mim.
não tinha notado essa parte do Queen, bem legal !!
This is righteous! Sonic Highways is going to be a classic album, no doubt!!
Just one of the most beautiful lyrics that I heard ever
This song is so brilliant. Especially the part at the end where he keeps repeating "God as My witness" GOOOOOOD so good
Whats with the hate? I think its a brilliant album
Me too
Me three -6 years later
Some people just hate change, this album is great for me, but you can't please everyone
Opinions right, I think its good too lets be friends
This album to me is the what the foos stand for pure rock and admiration for it, it tells story of the beginning, in my opinion better than wasting light! but thats a sore topic for some
Amazing guitar solo. Simply beautiful
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
"God as my witness, gonna heal my soul tonight"This is album that just felt, sounded great the first, but gets better every times. Awesome project.Thank-you, Foo's.
This song is the best yet! Gives me chills! Would love to see it performed live!
My personal favorite song on the album. Got to see them play it live for the first time ever when they did their taping for Austin City Limits about a month ago.
They just keep getting better... I cannot wait for this album to come out!!
Anyone who doesnt know and love Gary Clark Jr already start listening to him! Really enjoyed this track overall! The others are still growing on me!
I swear to god, these new songs are like the fucking greatest thing on the face of the earth!
There isn't a bad song on this album yet. This may be my new favorite album. I cannot wait. Super hyped. Keep on rocking Grohl and company!
Okay, people please. We all have our own opinions which differ from each other. One may hate this song one may love it. Agreed. That bit about "inner peace" doesn't sound religious at all to me; peace is peace regardless. Good points, and thank you for saying it.
Christon Varner-Halback It's just like saying "Oh My God" That statement alone doesn't determine one's religion. Although Dave is a Christian (I think, correct me if I am wrong) I feel people are interpreting the song wrong.

This album can't come soon enough. Need more Foo in my life!!!
Foo fighters, Keeping rock alive! don't ever stop.

My god this is absolutely incredible! Every song so far on the the album is amazing...one of the best albums to come out in the last 14 years.
Love seeing the "new video, foo fighters" update on my phone. It reminds me of how close the album is to be released and how excited I am to pick it up and listen to it relentlessly for days.

This is pure beauty. One of the best songs I've heard in a while!
I love the concept of this album and THIS is one hell of a great song!
I already hope to hear this live at Rock Im Park next year. :D
I LOVE being one of the few that enjoys Sonic Highways, more for us
I caught the "All You Need Is Love" riff pretty much instantly, and automatically assumed it had to be deliberate. Just like how Oasis used the "Imagine" piano riff on "Don't Look Back In Anger", in fact, this is probably the most epic "homage" I've heard since then!
Tal cual!! Agreed!
Thanks! I didn't catch "all you need" riff until you mentioned it. This song has really grown on me. They did a great job of representing Austin's past and future both lyrically and musically.
My only problem with this is the fade , I need the God is my witness part to still be playing now. Never ever stop.

I am buying this album now. I am and always will be a Foo Fighters fan. They will always be my favourite band. Nothing will change about that
These guys are doing what noone else did before and they are doing it perfectly IMO.
Every song..makes every Friday better.. so glad I pre-ordered..The Show is astounding.. Foos Forever!!
this goes to all the people hating this album i think you all should be glad that dave and the rest of the band are still around giving us some kick ass music im really blessed listening to this music its great !!!!
The feel of this song reminds me of the There is Nothing Left to Lose album
@3:29 as if fuckin Queen have written this. One of my favourite pieces ever written by the Foo's, total chills ❤
Wonderful, each album with his face, and the face of this album is very mature.
And it is one of the few bands currently in my opinion that is the height of rock in the world!
Best foo fighters album ever!! And best song ever composed by them: "outside".
The best comments you read down every new song that is released of Sonic Highways are the comments by people who actually know how this album is written, probably cause they watch the HBO sonic Highways show as well. Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I can’t believe it’s been 5 years already since this came out
Has to be my fave so far! Keep going foos and this album will be another amazing album!!!
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Gary Clark Jr. You're a legend.
I don't get why people are hating on this. Sure it's not their hardest rocking music but it's still good. I for one like that this different musical styles show off their range. This was a very ambitious musical project and in my opinion they've executed it nearly flawlessly

One of my favorite tracks of this album! See you soon, Foo Fighters in Chile next week!
Greatest rock band ever, no question.
Zgadzam się
Ever heard about Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Motorhead?
Andronk Not even the best foo's album. Probably the worst in all honesty. The best rock album ever is Led Zeppelin 1
XxCrazyRedneckHackerxX i can agree with that.
IMO its AC/DC but hey we all have opinions.
Gary Clark jr. Solo is amazing
I think the album's been really good so far. Really cool to see the different styles each song takes on. I don't see how people dislike it so much. I've been enjoying it a lot. You can hear the passion Dave puts into this one at around 4:00 and onwards. Killin' it.

Seeing Gary Clark Jr do the solo in the the live concert: Priceless.
Every time i listen to these four songs, i like them even more. Foo Fighters rock!
Foo Fighters...you guy,s do a killer good job with everything you do...i wish i could see you guy,s in concert...but hey keep the great Music Coming we love it man
Classic Queen style Rock, every song has surprised me. First album im actually goin to buy in a long time.
RIP Taylor 😞

putting words into your mouth.
This one's for me to know,
and for you to find out.
All that trouble and I'm on about,
how you gonna know, til you hear it out loud.
All of your heroes, where are they now?
I'm lost, deliver me,
I crossed the river finally.
God as my witness,
yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight.
God as my witness,
yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight.
God as my witness,
yeah it's gonna heal my soul tonight.

THIS SONG #FeelLike90's
I've been watching to the series and listening to the songs, carefully. What I think, so far, of the album is that it is more a tribute to music than a Foo Fighters album, and I'm saying this as positive thing.
Until I listen to the whole album I can't say if the songs are good or bad. So far, I'm enjoying the process. Peace.
My favorite song on the album. Well done Foo's
Absolutely incredible!! Great variety of instruments in it, from soft piano to the rocking old grunge sound! Can't wait for the rest of the songs! :)
Many people don't like these new songs, but in my opinion, they're awesome. Foo Fighters show why they're different from many other bands that do always the same kind of sound. It sounds different, but we know their identity.
If it was not for this album, the rock & and roll would be dead.
