It’s because all their songs basically sound the same. They figured out a successful formula and ran with it. No disrespect. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

The Foo Fighters are as fresh as the day they started up. This song is a perfect composition, just as good as any Mozart concerto. The theme is there, the melody is strong, the form has the variation of the melody. It is a classic David G composition. When I heard this song I bought it right away and went home to learn the guitar part. As a listener and a guitarist, this song is a delight to play an listen to. Frederick Frost-Mpls MN
Thank you guys for continuing to make amazing music in an era where crap reigns supreme. 3 songs out and its an amazing album already! I cant wait for more. You guys never disappoint!
As it reminded you of " once and for all" let me ask you, do you know if this song is just a demo? I have "Echoes and Silence..." and it isn't there and I always wondered if there's a problem with the Brazilian version of the album or something like that, do u know if there's any version where this song is included on the album? Tks
Dave, Taylor, Nate, Pat, and Chris....I wouldn't be a musician if it weren't for you guys. After I saw you the first time LIVE I decided to buy a drum set and start a rock band. Also I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for you guys. Thanks for inspiring me, I'll always have the biggest amount of respect for you guys. All I got is love for every single one of you.
i find with foo fighters a lot of the time i have to listen to the songs a few times to fully appreciate them, however those generally turn out to be the best songs that get old a lot slower
I don't know why a lot of people thinks a Foo Fighters album is shit if they don't burst their strings by strumming the guitar, and Dave screaming his life out. Foo Fighters music, even though it's not usually noticed, has great melody behind the strong strumming and overdrive. Their songs have a lot of feeling and great chords, in every Album. Just like 2:05. Reminds me of In Your Honor. I personally love all of their albums, it's just that each one of them gives me a diferent feeling, but that's what music is about. Just because it isn't as hard as 1993, doesn't mean it's shit. Grow up.
to all the people judging the 3 songs of the album, its not out yet, judge it as much as you want when it comes out, its too early. also saying that the foo fighters sounds the same, thats their style of how they make their songs, what are they supposed to sound like? led zepplin? fallout boy? cannibal corpse? are they supposed to go electric like linkon park? no. they are unique by the way their songs sounds like from other bands. & also they way they produce & create their songs. just because they aren't indie or as famous as black sabbath or not metal doesn't mean they aren't working their asses off to make music for everyone to listen as hard as indie, sabbarh, & metal.
Biggest foo fighters fan here talking. This sounds a bit like "in your honor" which to me is really "meh". It's falling towards the more commercial side of foo fighters. I think the last album was really great, it was very different. From song to song. I won't ofc judge this one by only three songs, but I'm really looking forward for something a bit more heavier.. feast and famine was heavy but i felt it was kind of empty not sure why. And i didn't like something from nothing at first but already grew on me (that riff that got stuck on your head was really messing with me but it's all good now, we're on good terms and not to mention the beginning is skin and bones no matter what anyone says). Looking forward for something a bit more heavy. Something more sad or angry is missing. Like an Exhausted or Let it Die. Or something really out of the box like Generator. Something that's really new! This kinda isn't to be honest...
Pedro Nascimento Best Foo Fighters I've heard was the first half of Something From Nothing. My opinion probably isn't common here because funk is my style rather than hard rock
Pedro Nascimento I think it's because of the concept of the album that none of them are "heavy" enough for you yet. Each song is drawing inspiration from a particular kind of music scene, Chicago blues, Nashville country, etc. You can here it in the sound and lyrics. It will probably be heavy enough once they get to LA and Seattle. Even next week they're releasing the Austin song which is heavier than Nashville country.
I made a homemade, phone, video in the middle of nowhere in kansas and oklahoma on our 2 month cross country, i had this song playing in the backround. It was awesome.

The Sonic Highways episodes on HBO have been nothing short of phenomenal. Each of the first three songs reflect that. I have them all que'd up on my DVR and watch them during the week. Watching the interviews and history of various music roots and styles while finally seeing Grohl's songwriting ability pulling all the information together to wring out a song with snippets of the interviews is pure genius. I have to see his documentary Sound City.
Reminds me a little bit of A Trick With No Sleeve from Sound City: Real to Reel. It's just fucking amazing. I had one of the weirdest and worse weeks of my life and listen to this guys is just fucking amazing. I feel alive. Thank you Dave, Taylor, Chris, Pat, Nate, Rami and all the other amazing people behind this.
This song is so fucking awesome! it really grows on you the more you listen to it. Classic Foo Fighters type of song and it still fucking works! love it!
Not trying to bring race into this, but i'm black and people (mostly other blacks) always look at me funny when I blast stuff like this in my car.... I can't help it, it's just so good.
Thats because people want to cling to ignorant stereotypes. Doesnt matter if youre black, asian, indian, or white. If you love rock, and thats in your heart, blast that shit! Youll be alot happier for it! :D
Easily Offended Im white and I get the odd look when I blast reggae dub tracks in my car. Odd looks from, at the end of the day, ODD PEOPLE!! ;-) A lot of humans like the sound these humans make!
That's the beauty of music it brings people together... Not to sound all corny but it's true and probly the only thing in the world that unites people. Rock on 😝✌🏼 ✌🏿✌🏽✌🏾🎸
So the first time I listened to this song I thought " Ok this is alright, not that great". I've listened to it probably 50 times now, and I can't stop! Everytime it just gets better and better! I love it.
I'm reading two types of hating comments about the Foo Fighters new stuff: 1 the ones that say they don't sound like their earlier albums. 2 those who say they sound always the same. For Type N° 1: I think after 20 years of being a band, it's normal to change so it doesn't become boring, to keep it fun. they evolve as human beings and so they evolve as musicians. You will always be disappointed if you compare to their earlier stuff, because that's the material you heard first, and in music, the first stuff you hear will always stay your favorite. For Type N°2: Yes, they sound the same because they sing from the heart, and their heart hasn't change in 20 years, they are just "down to earth" dudes. Plus, all the foos fans want from them it's to hear great rock songs. Foo Fighters are not a band like Radiohead (that i love btw), get over it. They rock, as simple as that. I don't hear a lot of people complaining about how AC/DC sounds exactly the same. Well, that's what we expect from them too. Why not accept is the same way with the foos?
This is fantastic. I can definitely hear the older styles coming through and as someone who fell in love with the Foo Fighters during the "Theres Nothing Left to Lose" day, its appreciated.
I dig on all of the FOO songs for my multiple mood swings. My favorites though lately are the High-Octane ones like Bridge Burning & Rope from Wasting Light, Breakout from TINLL and of course All My Life from One by One. But their 1st album will always have a special place in my heart as it still have shadows of Dave's previous band Nirvana. RIP Kurt..
And the Foo have done it again! Awesome song. Awesome album. Just what I needed in my life right now. Never stop making music Foo Fighters Keep rock a roll alive \m/
9 years later and I still think this is the best song Foo Fighters have ever done. I genuinely don't think anything has or ever will top this song. Funnily enough though, Outside is probably the closest second and it's on the same record.
this song seriously makes me wanna pick up how to play drums so bad.... the rhythm and vocals is just so good.......................... Foo Fighters come to Singapore please!!!!!!!
This song fills me up with joy, and has a lot of cheeful memories attached to it. The solo brings tears to my eyes. I want my electric guitar back so I can play it.
Seeing how the whole concept of Sonic Highways was to record songs inspired and shaped by the studio and city it was recorded in, I thought after each episode airs I’d try and piece together the meaning behind the lyrics. Well I met the seventh Son Tony Joe White was the seventh child in his family. He came for everyone The day he heard the lightning in the field TJW was the Son of a cotton farmer and knew he wanted to be a musician after hearing Lightnin’ Hopkins I heard him clear his throat A fork within the road Tony ended up in Nashville by accident - he’d planned to drive to Memphis but had trouble on the highway. That night the Tallahatchie took the wheel After hearing Bobbie Gentry’s ‘Ode To Billy Joe’ on the radio and relating to the songs subjects Tony Joe decided “If I ever write, it’ll be about something I know about”. I’ve been throwing knives to see just where they land Now my world is in your hands Send in the congregation Nashville & country music is synonyms with the church and gospel singing. Open your eyes Step in the light While having difficulty working on the song’s arrangement Dave said he glanced up, saw sunlight breaking through the studio’s arch window and immediately ‘got it’. “When that light hit me through that window I felt inspired”. A jukebox generation Just as you were In the 50s & 60s in order to make money country stars needed to keep putting out singles to be played on jukeboxes. A voice upon a stage Is a heart inside a cage Singing like a bluebird in the round The Bluebird Cafe is a legendary Nashville venue where acts perform in the middle of the floor with the audience all around. There’s mystery in this wood And Ghosts within these roots That are tangled deep beneath this southern ground The track was recorded in Southern Ground Studios, a former church built in 1901 that used to be the home of Monument Records. Ive been going through life making foolish plans Now my world is in your hands Send in the congregation Open your eyes Step in the light A jukebox generation Just as you were, alright Just as you were Just as you were, alright And you need Blind faith No false hope Do you have blind faith? No false hope Where is your blind faith? No false hope An almost direct lift from producer Tony Brown’s thoughts regarding idealistic artists breaking away from Nashville’s strict formula for success: “Don’t have false hope. Still have blind faith. You gotta have blind faith or why do you even give a shit?” Open your eyes Open your eyes Step into the light The sound becomes congregation A congregation A congregation And they’re singing like a bluebird in the round

Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
The first thing that came to mind when I heard Something from Nothing was wasting light
Feast and the Famine reminded me of Foo Fighters and this reminds me of In Your Honor.
It's like the greatness of their previous albums all in one package. I love it :)
They're always getting better!!
This one sounds more like espg to me. But I agree with the rest
Stayed up till midnight last night to listen to this and it didn't disappoint. 3 incredible songs already and there's still 5 more!!
Do they ever release bad songs? No... didn't think so either!
It’s because all their songs basically sound the same. They figured out a successful formula and ran with it. No disrespect. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

You can't classify a "classic" foo fighters sound, each album apart from espg and wasting light are different from each other.

Is Foo Fighters sound, music, letters. they are the best, ohhhh muy buenos.
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I think this is the song that represents a city the best from the 3 songs so far. I love it. Now i'm just waiting for the europe tour.........
This track is typical Foo's. Loving the feel, and the layers of music. So glad to see real music is still alive!
Not trying to bring race into this, but i'm black and people (mostly other blacks) always look at me funny when I blast stuff like this in my car.... I can't help it, it's just so good.
Don't let you're ego get ahead of yourself I'm black and this song is beauty
Thats because people want to cling to ignorant stereotypes. Doesnt matter if youre black, asian, indian, or white. If you love rock, and thats in your heart, blast that shit! Youll be alot happier for it! :D
Easily Offended Im white and I get the odd look when I blast reggae dub tracks in my car. Odd looks from, at the end of the day, ODD PEOPLE!! ;-) A lot of humans like the sound these humans make!
im mixed with black and rock music is my soul!!!!!! i hate other types of music rock on brother✌✌✌✌🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
That's the beauty of music it brings people together... Not to sound all corny but it's true and probly the only thing in the world that unites people. Rock on 😝✌🏼 ✌🏿✌🏽✌🏾🎸
And just when I thought awesome new rock was dead forever. This is some of the best rock ever. Superb!
Why does no one talk about this album, it’s fucking amazing
You Guys speak to my Heart and touch my Soul! Thanks so much for Being and Doing what you do.
That was killer!! Can't wait to see you guys in Auckland, New Zealand!! :D
So the first time I listened to this song I thought " Ok this is alright, not that great". I've listened to it probably 50 times now, and I can't stop! Everytime it just gets better and better! I love it.
I'm reading two types of hating comments about the Foo Fighters new stuff:
1 the ones that say they don't sound like their earlier albums.
Who dares to say rock is dead?
no matter how harsh times might be for the rock world, we will always have the Foo Fighters! Rock will live forever.
As Ozzy Osbourne once said, "you can't kill rock n roll, it's here to stay!"
And fuck Kanye for saying that "rap is the new rock" hahaha...dumbass!!
it is dying. the ffoos just stay alive the genre.
One foo fighters album doesn't bring rock back. It's pretty sad. Edm just ruined music for everyone.
RIP Kurt..
This is panning out to be a mighty fine album. Such a great hook on this one.
I was just about to go to sleep, but now I must listen to this at least 5 times first... god damn it!
And the Foo have done it again! Awesome song. Awesome album. Just what I needed in my life right now. Never stop making music Foo Fighters Keep rock a roll alive \m/
Well done, once again. The three songs off this album so far are pure magic. Lovin it!

Reverend Grohl
Keto Rolac Amen brother Keto.
I'd say this is definitely the freshest song so far. Loving it.
The intro to this sounds a lot like Interstate Love Song by STP, another great song, keep up the good work!
please, please, don't ever compare foo to stp again.....
+stewart8187 whats wrong with stp?
+stewart8187 Agreed Stewart. STP is much better. Not even close.
+turtleownage Sounds like the riff in "In the clear" too which is weird as its on the same album haha
Love the harmonies at the end with Zac Brown, they sound awesome.
Omg congregation jumpscare
😂😂😂😂
What do you mean
This and Outside are my fav songs on the album. Great rock songs
Ya iba a dormir y sale esta notificación. Mi día no puede terminar mejor. Grandes Foo. Me cago el la puta de emoció!!!!!!!
A mi tambien me paso lo mismo Jaja
JAJAJA de donde son? Vienen a sudamerica en Enero!!!! La puta que lo parioooooo
9 years later and I still think this is the best song Foo Fighters have ever done. I genuinely don't think anything has or ever will top this song.
Funnily enough though, Outside is probably the closest second and it's on the same record.
glad i preordered this album on vinyl now. only negative is that its only 8 tracks
this song seriously makes me wanna pick up how to play drums so bad.... the rhythm and vocals is just so good.......................... Foo Fighters come to Singapore please!!!!!!!
Why is no one talking about the guitar solo? It's by far my favourite solo by them.
Right? we dont get a lot of those as FF fans
This song fills me up with joy, and has a lot of cheeful memories attached to it.
The solo brings tears to my eyes. I want my electric guitar back so I can play it.
3:45 is awesome
Spot on. Different than the other two songs, but is still a Foo Fighters song. Awesome job, Foos.
Seeing how the whole concept of Sonic Highways was to record songs inspired and shaped by the studio and city it was recorded in, I thought after each episode airs I’d try and piece together the meaning behind the lyrics. Well I met the seventh Son
Tony Joe White was the seventh child in his family.
He came for everyone
The day he heard the lightning in the field
TJW was the Son of a cotton farmer and knew he wanted to be a musician after hearing Lightnin’ Hopkins
I heard him clear his throat
A fork within the road
Tony ended up in Nashville by accident - he’d planned to drive to Memphis but had trouble on the highway.
That night the Tallahatchie took the wheel
After hearing Bobbie Gentry’s ‘Ode To Billy Joe’ on the radio and relating to the songs subjects Tony Joe decided “If I ever write, it’ll be about something I know about”.
I’ve been throwing knives to see just where they land
Now my world is in your hands
Send in the congregation
Nashville & country music is synonyms with the church and gospel singing.
Open your eyes
Step in the light
While having difficulty working on the song’s arrangement Dave said he glanced up, saw sunlight breaking through the studio’s arch window and immediately ‘got it’. “When that light hit me through that window I felt inspired”.
A jukebox generation
Just as you were
In the 50s & 60s in order to make money country stars needed to keep putting out singles to be played on jukeboxes.
A voice upon a stage
Is a heart inside a cage
Singing like a bluebird in the round
The Bluebird Cafe is a legendary Nashville venue where acts perform in the middle of the floor with the audience all around.
There’s mystery in this wood
And Ghosts within these roots
That are tangled deep beneath this southern ground
The track was recorded in Southern Ground Studios, a former church built in 1901 that used to be the home of Monument Records.
Ive been going through life making foolish plans
Now my world is in your hands
Send in the congregation
Open your eyes
Step in the light
A jukebox generation
Just as you were, alright
Just as you were
Just as you were, alright
And you need Blind faith
No false hope
Do you have blind faith?
No false hope
Where is your blind faith?
No false hope
An almost direct lift from producer Tony Brown’s thoughts regarding idealistic artists breaking away from Nashville’s strict formula for success: “Don’t have false hope. Still have blind faith. You gotta have blind faith or why do you even give a shit?”
Open your eyes
Open your eyes
Step into the light
The sound becomes congregation
A congregation
A congregation
And they’re singing like a bluebird in the round
Thx man, I had had the idea that the foos sang this song to Jesus or some god.
Rest in Peace, Taylor! Much love from Brazil.
One of my Favorites,.,
Love it. The studio was amazing. Congrats to Zac,
At first I thought it was alright, then around 3:16 happened and I thought ALRIGHT! Sonic Highways is 3/3 on being tenouttaten!
Yeah right! glad the song had this "turn" i'm just tired of the same linear songs over and over again, Foos are rocking on this album
Obsessed with this song and the Sonic Highways documentary and Foo Fighters in general
I like the stop-times, and I fucking dig the solo
