This fills me with hope, and it’s getting me through the darkest time in my life. Thank you Dave and crew. Much love sent to you and may you all be well
This and Subterranean are meant to be listening together
@@yummyfuzzball680 thank you, I appreciate that. Life has brightened some and I am in a better place than I was. This is still one of my favorite songs!
every time that I hear this song, feels like my soul is washed and cleaned !!
art evokes emotion without emotion what is art?
+Daiana Ferreira I love this song and this pretty much describes how I feel, awesome comment
+Daiana Ferreira
By a river???
+Daiana Ferreira Totally Daiana. This song has an amazing effect on me too.. when that chorus hits it feels like you are walking on water
+Robert Whittaker and goosebumps
This is the best way to finish an album
I'm actually just dying and I'll not be an idiot's deadman since I absolutely didn't know this info !!!
Love & Peace on Earth ...Fairwell
Whether this becomes a hit or not doesn't matter, this is my favorite song on the whole album. It just reminds me of seeing something grand, like a big city or vast landscape for the first time. It's unbridled joy that doesn't hold back. Whenever I hear this, I always want to go out and experience life and all it has to offer. I love it.
When I first heard it I loved it so much and it is my 2nd favorite song from foo fighters
this song...I just can't. It's so perfect. It just seems as if they got it all right. Everything falls into place. It's a beautiful, epic masterpiece. This is stadium rock music at it's best. I love the synth as well. Reminds me a bit of The Killers first album Hot Fuss
I love The Killers
mrsuns10 please stop
J Cal
Stop what?
Killers are awful
J Cal Killers are awful in my opinion*
There fixed it for ya
This is going to sound ridiculous but the first time and many other times later. When the violins play, I freaking break down in tears. I don't know exactly why but even though it is strange it should come as a huge compliment to how powerful your music can be.
+John Pecman That's not ridiculous at all! It's normal!
I love coming here and seeing just how many other people have an incredible taste in good music… this song is moving… You all get it. Love you Foo Fighters, life can be hard sometimes, but it’s a beautiful river that we all must travel. Someday we’ll see the end of it. Grazie Mille Foo Fighters. 🤘🏼❤️
Such an incredible song. Everything about it is truly moving.
I preformed this song at a couple bars and a rally e show with some fellow friends .. Everytime I hear this song I get flashbacks to those moments when the crowd roared and cheered for us while we played ❤️probably the best performance we've done
I gotta say that many times the best rock songs are those that make you feel weird at first but you end up falling in love with them as time goes by
Yes! For me that's the difference between Rock and Pop - Pop has those catchy melodies that go right into your head the first time you hear them. Rock is just more complex and the more you listen to it, the more you appreciate it
you deserve a cookie
The beauty of this song touches me deeply. This is one of my favorites along with “On the Mend”. David Bowie provided the soundtrack to the first part of my life: the Foo Fighters; the second. How fitting to see Tony Visconti. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This song is so beautiful. The guitar, the vocals, the music, its all so perfect and beautiful. This is the most beautiful song with deep meaning, best song ever!
I just love this song so much!
Their songs are perfect makes it hard pick one! Foo for life! always!!!!
Foo Fighters. .. thank you thank you... thank you... xoxoxoxoxoxox
Tina Marie F Que hermoso ver éste comentario, es muy emotivo!
Best song on the record. True masterpiece.
And true.
Foo Fighters banda fantástica. Dave Grohl maravilhoso!!!
This song is so beautiful.
This is just a perfect song. Be it the lyrics, fusion, sound quality. Gives me a goosebump each time.
Aw yeah, 7 minutes of pure epicness!
Since my dad's recent passing this song really speaks to me. I am a huge believer that music can speak to us in ways when we can't find the right thoughts or words .
I remember when I first heard this song. I bought the album and drove around listening to it in my car. When this song came on I literally cried and smiled the entire time. I was so overwhelmed with emotion and the music is so beautiful. I listen to it when I need a few minutes of pure happiness.
Thank you Foo Fighters, thank you Dave Grohl. Your music has helped me get through so much.
coming back and listening to this album again after over 2 years is giving me the feels. This is hands down the best song on the album.
Blown away by this song. I'm just Imagining this closing an epic concert, everyone singing along. Truly magical. Hopefully I can catch the Foos on their tour sometime next year, favorite band by far.
This is too much perfect , this enter in our soul.
This song make me cry
If u don't like this song, you don't realize how great music can be!!!
To all the people saying this is a boring album, how can you listen to all of those great songs and stay unimpressed. You should take a listen with an open mind and just think about life. I did it and i can honestly say I cant wait for the rest of the songs. Rock on, Foos!
Life is great
Life is beautiful, life is beautiful with the music, with Foo Fighters.
This song is beautiful
Amazing album I'm 53yrs old and love the way their music means so much to me and my 21yrs old son can listen the album and it means everything to him.
His Grandma bought him a copy for Christmas and he bought me a copy too.
He had heard that the album was a concept album and that he wouldn't like it, because it wasn't like their 'other stuff !'
He listened the album as I did on RUclips and they were right, he doesn't like Sonic Highways, he fucking loves it, as do I !
We both agree that this album is the best album to date, every track is strong enough to be released as a single but collectively it's unbelievable !!!
This song helped a lot when my uncle died last October. I don't know why, Andy was a dick and hadn't spoken to my family for ten years. Dave's lyrics just kinda helped me find solace and vent a lot of emotions during my time of grief (for lack of a better term). It helped me compartmentalize my issues so I could get shit done for my mom. Thanks for posting.
If this song doesn't do something for you, your headphones or speakers suck.
Anthony Stuart I agree
Anthony Stuart Bang right Anthony!
Anthony Stuart ...agreed. Best FF song by far, nothing short of simply fuckin brilliant!! Shivers down the spine music, that doesn`t happen that often, but this is there, epic!!
+GalaxyHop You don't say!
+Anthony Stuart Agree.
As a huge fan of the Foo (seriously an understatement for my love for this band), at first listen of this record, I was almost unsure if I really liked this record or if I was making myself like it. It is by no doubt much different from any other record they've done, and it started out to seem as a taste to be acquired. Well after several listens, I am hooked and I applaud Dave and the rest of the Foos for their latest work. It is truly outstanding and I recommend everyone giving this one a chance. Once again, tremendous job dudes. See you in Memphis 10/07/15!
This song just hits me everytime. Kinda makes me feel better about life.
I love this song. I think it is the Foo Fighter's masterpiece.
Beautiful song..one of their best.
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I hadn't heard this in years but have been on a Foo Fighters kick recently and have fallen in love with it all over again. Such a moving song. The reaction to this entire album was ridiculous when it came out but I'm glad that with time it looks like people are appreciating it now for what it was meant to be. There are some really great songs on it.
Just found this song. Amazing. Listened to it over and over last night.
By far the best song on the album. Uplifting to say the least
I am a river....Hopefully flowing into an ocean of good vibes and love....never let your spirit run dry....
Beauty can be Found in any kind of music as well as any person. Thank you Foo Fighters for taking me on this ride of an album!
i cry with this song...
It's amazing how they released 8 good albums in a row. Not a single album that I hate.
Unpopular opinion: My favorite Foo Fighters Album!
Realmente um álbum muito bom.
Takes me back to 2014, I want to go back. 2020 is such a terrible year.
Bruh you ain't seen nothing, if Texas is any indication then hell has officially frozen over
Hey stranger, I dont know you, but I think you have an awesome taste of music if you listen to this song, so there must be hope somewhere :)
Uma das músicas mais "emocionantes" que já ouvi do FF, muito foda. Mesmo o álbum sendo diferente do normal, ficou fodástico!
wow, just wow.....freaking beautiful
Jay Strum It really is
This song is just so perfect. We are so lucky to have Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters in this world.
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
An outstanding piece of music, grohl sings it with true passion and the instrumental accompanies it like a glove
it's still a DAYUMM track for me. classic. timeless. glad I live in this time and witness. DG and our foo's
Hated this album the first time I heard it! but then it grew on me. Now i think its absolutely genius!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is so great, it recaptures the feeling of discovering and falling in love with music I experienced years ago. A masterpiece this releases every feel good endorphin I have!
There's some melodies that make people cry. This is one of mine. Thanks Dave, God bless you Taylor.
Wow, that's the greatest song i've heard last time. So much energy in it!
Love it!
Save it!
I Am a River!
This is my favorite on this album.
This reminds me a lot of February Stars off of The Colour and the Shape. Really love it
This is my fave Foos track. Love it
7 mins and 8 seconds of pure goodness. Thank you Foo Fighters!
Rarely am I moved hearing a song for the first time. Some have grown on me after several listens. This one almost drew me to tears the first time I heard it. Awesome collaborations you guys did on this album. Last of a dying breed that I really really miss today
+ProfessionalDad one of the most moving songs I've ever heard. What a band!!
This album was fantastic. I think some of their best work. Maybe not as hard as some people wanted but I think what we got was still great.
This song is just amazing... I like what the foo's are doing, no matter what other people think about this album, I freaking love it!
This song gives me the feeling I had when I used to listen their music 10 years ago. I listened to it all, and it was all new and exciting. This one makes the hair on my arm stand-up, all over again. Thanks DG & Co.
The song that makes sonic highways worth your while
This song is awesome......
Can't wait to hear it at Slane castle in may....
Slow build up and it just grabs you and pulls you in
I absolutely love this!!! Sonic Highways, New York.
I cannot stop listening to this song and all the other sonic highway songs Foo fighters never disappoint ;-)
The shivers down the spine are real
Totally shook by Taylor's disappearance, came here to tell myself that he rejoined the river but man it hurts
Me too. .. sending you a big FooHug
@@ajgee8 thanks it warmed my heart, a big Foo hug to you too fellow human
I got yaaaa... your never alone ♥ when you are part of the FooFam x
Rest In Peace
This comment left a massive lump in my throat x
I'll admit, when this album first came out I kind of breezed over it. I've finally decided to give it another listen and wow... have I ever been missing out. This is easily becoming a top Foo Fighters album for me. Especially this track right here.
Love this song. It gives me the chills, man... and on the record Subterranean melds beautifuly into I Am A River.
I really don't understand all the hate towards this album, i'm 18 years old and enjoy a band that develops more as it gets older, sure it ain't "The Colour and the Shape", but "Animals" wasn't "The Dark Side of the Moon", "No Code" wasn't "Ten", and "In Utero" wasn't "Nevermind". Point is I think the Foo Fighters are doing an amazing job with their career and I really can't wait to see what they do next. The Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam have never let me down with their music.
Couldn't agree more with you!
All the hate this album gets proves the success of this band.Success bring idiot trolls and asshole haters. This album is perfect.
hey kid go check out Soundgarden - Slaves and Bulldozers
Wilander Mascrenhas whats in it for me?
You can't compare in utero to nevermind... They are completely different concepts... Anyways, I prefer in utero way more than nevermind, and I know I'm not alone on that opinion
What a beautiful song!!
A truly masterpiece!! Brazil Loves you guys!!
I had a shock when I saw the date this video was released, I stared and stared, and thought, no way was this 6 years ago. Damn. BTW, would love to see this one Live.
Beautiful... I personally don't think sonic highways is their best álbum but this is definnetly one of the best songs they've ever done. I listened this first when it came out and didn't pay too much atention til I listened again and this time I wasn't in the best mood. And again Dave showed me how the power of music can heal you in the bad times. I almost shed a tear. We really have to be thankful with bands like FF to still be doing songs like this one even if it's not their best album, we should be thankful instead of arguing if they are sellouts or not
RIP Taylor Hawkins..
We will always love you
🙏🙏🙏
Bleesed to listen all the songs, and he was a legend
💔🕊️
Every Foo Fighters album has one song that stands out. This one definitely stands out this album. (for me anyway)
I love this song! I love Foo Fighters! Dave you're my hero!!!!
one of my favorites from their new album!
You guys have to realize Dave is getting older. Sorry if you want his older sound. This doesn't feel Commercial or Safe to me. Feels like a mature new perspective for the Foo Fighters, I appreciate an Artist who develops an experiments.
@Jules Martin you have a way with words... and idk if i like it or not
ivee grown up with dave and he always releases music relevant to what im going though in life. and whenever im feeling down i know i can put on a foo fighters song and feel like im not alone
Most influential musiscian of the last 20 years easily! The guy does everything for music, he dedicate his life to this, and sonic highways documental is very important for music, Grohl just want inspire some people, he just want new generations learn some about music history of united states, and maybe inspire some people, i think that is what he want. Kurt be happy about all Dave has done, i know that
@Jules Martin
Wow you are so awesome
Yep!
Their music will always be the most compatible for my ears and will always aid my life.
Man I love the Foo fighters and this music just shows the genius of Dave and the rest of the guys!
This song signifies bridging a massive hole in my life these last 6 months. I'm out of it now. Such a shame I didn't get to hear it in the flesh at Wembley tonight; it would have been the best closure! Sort your sen soon Dave.
This song's structure reminds me of Hey Jude a little bit. You have the whole song building from the beginning, starting soft and progressively growing, circling back to the part that you think is going to be the key moment of the song ("is that what you really want"/"and anytime you feel the pain", "so let it out and let it in"), and finally building towards the climax and key point of the song by repeating the same line for the final minutes of the song. Massive tune, brilliantly written. Definitely one of the most well constructed FF songs I've heard.
Yea I see what you mean. And it makes sense because Dave is really good friends with Paul McCartney, and obviously was very influenced by the Beatles
I say this in reply three years after the original comment, but most FF songs are like that. They start off quiet and build to a great crescendo. This is one of the best examples; if you aren't left a blubbering mess by the end, there's something not right. Dave's a genius.
My favourite from the new album!
Nunca vou deixar de ouvir essa música! Maravilhosa!!! Thanks Foo Fighters 🙏❤
Still unable to get over this song. :')
Can't wait to see them in concert
So beautiful... one of the most beautiful songs I know. I saw and feel this in a concert in Helsinki this summer. Amazing.
Awesome, awesome song. Foo Fighters just keep knocking it outta the park, so good!
I didn't really care for this song that much, but my disc finally arrived in the mail and I've been playing it on loop and this is definitely one of the best tracks on the CD.
It's so hard to not cry while you are listening to this.
