This whole performance is just painfully beautiful and moving. From a drummer who lost his front man, to a front man who lost his drummer, to a son who lost his father. Shane sure is playing with all the pain and love he feels. Absolutely stunning....
Also of course he should finish school and whatnot, but what if he played only this song at every show he attended…at least until they found a permanent drummer but even maybe after that? I think that’d be so awesome!

That kid played his heart out. I know his dad is proud. I hope he's okay, and I wish him strength in his loss. I hope he never forgets that moment, playing in front of thousands of fans, and he chases it for the rest of his life.
Must in some way help Dave and the rest of the band having there brothers son shine like he used too…they all would of seen this young man grow up and been a part of his life from the start like his dad, you can see how proud and moved Dave was…amazing
Shane hits the drums with the fury of a million suns, raging at a universe who took his dad way too soon. He's got Taylor's passion, accuracy, and energy .. all amped up.
Bro, do you even know what kind of rage a million sun's burns with? NO, you don't! Cause we only have one and you don't even know the Fury THAT one burns with!
He drums as hard as Dave and as intensely as his dad. The fact that he could get up in front of 75,000 people in the stadium and millions at home and still absolutely nail this song says all you need to know about this amazing kid. All while still mourning the loss of his father.
Agreed to you as well, @ Jeff Hendrix...as I was born in '72, I couldn't imagine my son playing bass for his father as professionally...and wouldn't want to. Peace and love to this young but definate man.
I watch this MFer about 5-10 times a day! LOL! I just love Dave’s face encouraging Shane when he begins the zone, and looking impressed and proud of this young man. Shane does play with such passion and intensity. To be so young, I think he is the best and most appropriate competition and legacy at the same time, as his Soooo gifted father was!
The balance he has between being open to channeling the emotions of it, and at the same time being in control of the moment, is astonishing. Especially for someone of his age.
I don’t know what I love more, the focus and rage in his playing or the way the bad keeps checking in with him throughout to keep him going. Found family is a beautiful thing.
As someone who's drummed for 35 years I can say the restraint he showed was amazing...situation like this you tend to get overwhelmed with adrenaline which causes you to A. speed up which isn't great for band and B. run out of gas and forget to breathe etc. He managed it like a pro, not easy
First thing I noticed....how well balanced he was. He was banging the hell out of those drums from the heart. But maintained composure thru it all... And to be able to do that at his age. And probably one of the biggest rock concerts in history!!! Kid definitely has a future in this world. Taylor and everyone is proud of you kid
He was a bit quick at the start, which I’m sure was because of adrenaline. But I noticed on the turn around riff, before the first verse starts, that the boys slowed him down a bit. So it speaks to them overall as a band, to be able to communicate through their playing, what he needs to do. And it speaks to his maturity on the drums to realize it and adjust.
@@MrAdamloring1985 this is something I didn't notice, but it speaks volumes if they can communicate as a band even though this is hard for all of them, but especially for him... And they are not a band. They didn't play this a million times over the years... So to be able to do that is even more amazing.
Think i saw a nod to his Dad with the double kick fills at the end, Taylor did that during the Stacked Actors solo last time they were in Wembley. Thought it was a really nice touch :)
Every couple of months I come back to this video… and every time I tear up. There’s so much heartfelt energy in this performance from Shane and Dave, that it touches my most inner core. I see a bright future ahead for Shane.
I think the most impressive part is doing this on that stage in that environment. Large stages are not something just anyone can play on. The song is easy, but man on that stage in front of that crowd is so intimidating. I definitely could not do that at 16, no way. Imo this makes him such an amazing drummer to do this. ❤️

May every kid who loses their dad have a Dave Grohl who steps into their lives, looks on at their accomplishments with such pride in their eyes, and who supports them without fail. Shane killed it and really honored his father with such a passionate performance. Well done, kid.

Hello there, good day to you, and it’s nice seeing you here
As someone who's drummed for 35 years I can say the restraint he showed was amazing...situation like this you tend to get overwhelmed with adrenaline which causes you to A. speed up which isn't great for band and B. run out of gas and forget to breathe etc.
I bet he didn't breath. Bless him amazing
Was thinking this exact thing.

@@lividea cool, you're still wrong though
@@tt55899 Loook at the veiws on the video, I think she's right
I love how the band keeps looking back at Shane to make sure he’s doing alright
You can tell Dave was so proud of him!
They're a family❤️❤️
@@Telepkrshut up
@@Telepkr its to get them back on beat guitarist don't usually do this its typically bassist to make sure they're on the same beat or something especially on live sets.
Legend
that brief shot of Pat at 5:27 where he's looking at Shane with so much happiness is genuinely beautiful
That small detail is so wholesome, one of the reason that made this video so beautiful.
At the end of the video Pat grabs Shane and hugs him back stage......Lotta love in that room.
Pat was there when Kurt died, when Dave broke his leg, when Taylor passed away, and I'm sure he was also there when Dave lost Virginia (his mother) a few months ago. Whenever you need Pat, you bet Pat will be there.
Pat seems like the nicest guy. Definitely a staple of the band.
Powerful performance!!!! Well done Shane !!!!!!
5:15 I'm crying 😢
