@BakeToRise And don’t forget to add “on stage in California at the Los Angeles Forum”, and thanks to this video being online, Nandi will be able to whip out her phone (or whatever device we’re using then) and show you :) For me, I think that the best part was at the 2:10 mark even before Nandi’s performance

It must be nice to have the choice. People on low income can't afford such luxuries, and risk the kid giving up after a couple of lessons. If the kid actually wants to do it, they will find a way.
@@timothygraham4304 Yeah I really had a huge passion around the bass guitar I still do to this day and my mum as a single parent without me knowing worked hours and hours extra to be able to get me it and now we are out of the gutter I have enough money to buy a better one and she consstatnly wants me to but I always deny it. Its my most prised possesion
Coming back to watch this again (thx for the likes) and I'm also struck with how this tiny little thing with spindly little arms rocks out like that. Drummers are usually brutes.
If only... That's why we need to cherish moments like this when they do happen, and to try to get ourselves into situations where they may occur as often as possible.
For those who don't drum, this is a very complex song to drum to with very fast, very odd transitions that requires a ton of endurance. To my knowledge, Dave has never allowed a drummer come on stage to play this particular song because he knows they're probably gonna screw it up or get tired and fall behind. The fact that he allowed her to play this song says that he has the utmost confidence in her abilities.
This is a wonderful comment - thanks so much! I'm not a drummer, and while many comments have said some version of what you did, there have also been a number of blowhards who have said some version of "I don't see what the big deal, this song is so easy to play" 🙄 As far as I know, you're the first person to point out that they never before had a guest drummer for "Everlong". Nandi really owned her moment, surely creating the opportunity for her to have many more moments like this in the future.
I love how naturally humble Dave is. He's not like "we let her come up and jam with us," no. According to Dave they get to jam with Nandi and that's awesome.
I cried when I found out Taylor died. I cried again when I found out Nandi had been selected to play his tribute concert. How beautiful. How honorable. How bittersweet. Be happy on the next part of your journey Taylor. You've left the drumming in young but talented hands.
I didn't even know he died until I saw this comment. I think someone at my house started cutting onions when I read the part that said she was selected to play at his tribute concert
And she absolutely nailed Learn to fly at Wembley. She played it with drumsticks that Taylor gave her and if you look at her jacket. Taylor Hawkins face is embroidered on the back. Lovely tribute and Nandi represents the next generation of killer drummers. Love watching her play.
The fact there are 1.1k haters disliking this..... How TF can you dislike watching someone live their dream and bring their joy of life to so many people?!?!?
Envy. Realizing that this little girl has a lot of talent. Stupidity. Trying to be a troll but just achieving to be a turd... And a lot more reasons. Let dumb be dumb, and let them express themselves.
@@M1cko33 yeah but there and then there’s no gangsters. Let this girl have her moment. That’s what this is all about anyway. Taking our minds off of the fact the world is so fucked up!
Just one? My face is soaking wet. I love stuff like this and I love that Grohl and the FF give opportunities to their fans that probably change the trajectory of their lives when they don’t have or need to even acknowledge them. Nandi shredded this song and I’m so glad she got props from both Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, two of the best drummers to ever live. When he sadly passed, I was kinda hopeful they’d get her to replace him.
I’ve played the drums on and off for 20 years, that song is a sleeper. The verse is hard to play once the kick drum starts hitting with the guitar rhythm. Listen for it. The high hat repetition actually makes it difficult IMO. Its “easy” to play per se, but by the end of the verse that section will mess up your timing if you’re even slightly out of practice and expose you. She absolutely killed it!!! Well done.
Are you being serious? That song is about as easy a song to play as any. You wanna see a REAL shredder.on the drums playing a song that is 10 times more complex. Go watch Caleb H play Slipknot or Junna play Dragonforce. Both of those kids would absolutely annihilate this kid. Try again
I’m 19 and struggle to play everlong. No way I would be able to get up on stage in front of thousands of people and absolutely nail it. She did amazing
That's what I love about this. Taylor is there, he's behind the drums, ready to take over (considering it's her first arena show). But he's not playing. She doesn't need him to.
Most impressive thing about this is the restraint from getting excited and mucking up the tempo, especially at such a young age. She's got showmanship AND chops. Holy shit.
@@johnjacobs6753 ... agreed. Incredible musical maturity. First she's 100% in the pocket, then she's all flash, then straight back in the pocket without the tempo shifting at all. And then the way she led the entire band on the outro.... wow, just amazing. I've worked with drummers who've played for 30 years who don't have time as good as that.
11 years old and she can play live with one of the biggest bands in the world, imagine where she'll be in another 8-10 years. Heckin gives me hope. *wipes tears*
I have so loved watching Nandi. While the world was burning, here's this angel that came with the message that Rock and Roll isn't dead. I still get choked up when I watch this. But its of joy, which this last 2 years has had so little bit of it.
Three of the best drummers around sharing the stage, and maybe the best of those three playing the drums, if she keeps at it even the Neil Pearts and Keith Moons of the world might one day be looking up to Nandi. She’s come a long way in just the last year, imagine where she could be in another 20
I'll never understand why some people hate on Dave Grohl. He's the most kind-hearted person in the world, and he wants every musician on the planet to be successful.
Kindness intimidates some people, it dulls the anger that fuels their existence. I've never really been a fan of Nirvana and definitely not Foo Fighters... I am a friend to the Foo, so obviously I would be opposed to those that are driven to fight the Foo. Aside from that one issue though, Dave is a fantastic person, artist, producer, dad and a decent drummer, not Nandi caliber, but close.
Mr.Gamble you are exactly rite Dave is the worlds nicest people... He's one rock star who will stop and take a pic w you ask how you are hell if you were hungry he'd take you to lunch... Dave if you see this you are awesome...wish there were more people like you
You know what else is adorable? The way her parents avoid appearing with her in nearly every situation, letting her have her little limelight completely to herself. I love that
That never occured to me. Excellent point! I think I've only seen her dad once (very briefly) on one of her very early vids - before she bacame an 11 year old rock legend!
Her dad posted a video to RUclips of this performance but from the side of the stage (where unfortunately, the view of her is quite poor). But the video is cute because her dad is screaming and cheering his little girl on and is totally losing his shizzle. He's not trying to be cool at all, and it's adorable.
Reading through the comments I quickly see I'm not the only one tearing up to this. 64 years old and I'm crying. That young lady is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! Love the rock 'n' roll primal screams. She has it all... what a terrific moment, kudos to Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters.
Holy SHIT, shes not just autopiloting the song, shes actually DRIVING the song , taking ownership of the band, getting into the groove and leading. Outstanding.
@@Timodon1 you're absolutely right. Without a solid drummer... no lead singer can carry a song alone. They -need- someone who can play the drums, solid.
Really want to point out something pretty special. Whenever there are "guest musicians" that aren't professionals, you almost ALWAYS see them being backed by a pro. They didn't do that here, they gave her complete center stage with these drums. To be an 11 year old, playing a Foo Fighters concert, drumming, with no safety net, it insane guts and talent.
You must be new to Nandi world, lol. She's been playing Everlong for at least 2 years now. She just learned double pedals earlier this year. But she's never been anything less than solid in the pocket.
@@katyas-mom Heh, I would counter with, you must be new to performance art. Good in the studio is one thing, good in front of an audience of thousands is something else. I think we both agree that she has got guts. All the muscle memory in the world can go out the window if you get stage fright. I've seen musicians in the business for decades fall apart in front of a crowd, it's such a different beast.
I'm a god damn 41 year old mountain man who hunts bears and acts tough...this song tears me up every time and seeing that girl live her dream got me balling. RIP Taylor.
Thank you very much @Makoto Phoenix! Obviously at the time I had no idea that the video I was taking would take off like it has, but I'm glad that it's allowed millions of people around the world to share this wonderful moment with Nandi and the Foo Fighters. (FWIW, I'm just a smidge over five and a half feet tall, and I'm still not sure how I was able to shoot this for 11+ minutes while having to work around a lot of people in the pit who were taller than I am)
to do this at her age is years for average drummers taking long to master their craft...at this age drop the books...go get ur career because u have a life in music...please dont be a lawyer...her wrists grow quick...holy shit
Amazing, for an 11 year old girl, or for ANY professional drummer? Because, honestly, she’s not good enough to call her that. Maybe someday, but not now. So calm down.
Her drumming is just on point... she's actually better than most drummers that are adults. She's 11 and her future is so BRIGHT!!!!.... Love you Nandi!. god bless you sunshine. RIP Taylor, if only Nandi was old enough to fill his place. I really feel for Dave, he's up there with keanu for me, fame can get you so far but when you're just an all round good bloke, you go up another level.
She's not only got a great style but also-- it's clear that she absolutely loves drumming and practices, practices practices! There's gotta be hours and hours of hard work behind that smile and a dedication to do the music homage. That's an artist for sure.
@@vtbmwbiker I've been following her for a little while now. You oughta see her videos on her youtube channel. She just beats those drums and screams, it's awesome!
That's God given talent. Not an easy task for most adults. If only more people would notice their children's talents instead of plopping them in front of a phone or tablet...
The main thing that impresses me is her fearlessness. She just attacks it head on, and then the physical power and timing is mind-blowing. An 11 year old has just driven one the most famous bands in the world and it's absolutely spot on! It's so unbelievable I have to watch it again and again to make sure I'm not dreaming! This is also one of her favourite bands so she must have felt like she was dreaming too. Oh, and Mr Grohl was right, he said beforehand that she would steal the show.
Seriously, the fact she played so smoothly in front of so many people is pretty astounding. Seriously, she kept her tempo pretty damn well considering!
Hell yea. Also stuff like this that shows the inclusivity of Rock. Same thing people credit The Clash for, the idea that "anyone can do it". Powerful stuff. Everyone should try it :)
As a 64 year old woman percussionist, this makes me so happy to see. When I was young there was a huge bias against girl drummers, but I had a hippie violin teacher who taught me in my grade school, and then fought for me to get a try out for marching band at the Jr. High level. They weren't even going to let me try out. Then I kicked ass for 1st chair in band, jazz band and was put into the High School band when I was in 7th grade. Thank you Mrs. Sheely!
Yeah... I am following some reaction channels. What changed me was discovering the Japanese music scene who also has some absolutely fantastic musicians. Recommend checking out Akane Hirose - Band-maid (who has some glorious live videos on their official channel) and Haruna of Lovebites (as with B-M you find some nice livematerial... if you like metal). As a sidenote I can recommend Senri Kawaguchi. Absolutely stunning fusion drummer!
She obviously just told Taylor that she wanted to keep that last drumstick as her memorabilia of playing in his place with the Foo Fighters, and this, after learning of his death, now means much, much more to her. RIP Taylor Hawkins.
I’m 63 years old, I’ve seen Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, etc, but this is the most badass playing I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched this a couple dozen times and every time I watch it I get goose bumps. Her poise, talent, maturity and fearlessness is stunning! Her potential is mind blowing! You go girl!!! Damn 10 YEARS OLD!!! DAMN!!
I know! I find it interesting that before she even got on her drum kit that Dave spoke to the crowd about how they say goodbye. Now Taylor is gone like you said Mr Brees. I am still trying to process this loss
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. Death is something we all have to go through so live like everyday is your last and leave no regrets behind. Tell your family you love em. Taylor buddy rip you were an amazing soul and you leave behind An amazing family who loves you a band that loves you and every foo fighter fan around the world who loves you!!! Rock in paradise Taylor!!!
As a woman who has been trying (and failing) to emulate rock drummers for the past 20 years, all i can say is NANDI! YOU'RE KILLING IT GIRL! YOU. ARE. AMAZING.
I hear you! I don't know how old you are but as a classic rock electric guitar player (for the last 38 years) I know exactly how you feel. Wayyyy back in the beginning, I had tons of friends in rock bands but was never, ever invited to play. They said I was too pretty to play, I was devastated, told them to f*ck themselves. I truly hope you had/have more success than I did. Still play my rock music though...that will never get old! Stay happy and safe my friend!

Dave is singlehandedly trying to keep rock n roll alive. Honoring those who came before and those who may follow. Or maybe he just loves giving people a memory for life. Either way he is a cool dude.
Those were actually the sticks that she was using. She dropped them as she walked to the front of the stage, and he picked them up and encouraged her to throw them into the crowd.
Teared up for the same reason I cried during Halle Berry's Oscar acceptance speech- for all the girls, especially the black girls, who were musical prodigies or could have been prodigies, and who never were able to get recognition or even express their talent. Because there are now male musicians in the culture who lift and boost the talent of girls and women, like Dave GROHL and Lenny Kravitz, who also put Nandi on stage with him @ the O2 Arena in London, and whose drummer Cindy Blakcman, is one of the best in the business.
Yes, but because of that simple moment of glory, in front of more than 15 000 people, she was then asked to perform, few weeks ago, for the Queen Jubilee, and last week she was asked again by Dave Groghl, to replace Taylor Hawkins for his first tribute concert at Wembley Stadium, in front of more than 85 000 people. If she perform well at that concert, watch out for a big announcement by the Foo Fighters in the following months! Some people are simply made for success, and Nandi is one of them, and Dave knows it very well!
You must be confusing her with someone else perhaps? Someone who already had over 250k followers on RUclips perhaps? Or someone else who had been feted by Chad Smith on his YT channel before this concert perhaps? (and appearing on his channel during this same US visit to play with TFF) Or someone who has numerous drum coaches on YT watching and commenting on her vids because of her skill perhaps? Or some other kid who had been chosen to appear in a commercial playing drums because she was so well known for playing drums at 9 perhaps? Bless Groghl for giving that unknown kid 5 mins of fame, she must have really needed it! Or, and here's a little dose of reality for you. She genuinely loves and admires Groghl and TFF for his prowess, she challenged him and beause he's a nice chap, he responded. Thanks to him, her recognition shot up with people like you who might not have heard of her because you're not a drum fiend, but those that knew, knew. She'll go far but on her own terms i suspect. All we can do is sit back and watch in awe.
It was said in another comment but I have to make this bright and clear: Nandi is an amazingly talented drummer, holy smokes! She nailed this song and while drumming this song she let it look so easy, but again, this song and especially the drum part is anything but for sure NOT easy! I am 45 years of age, I do play drums for 30 years now and this song is so damn fast and demanding and exhausting on top, and she played it like a pro! She is a pro! One bet from my side: I bet that at least 80 percent of the people who claim to be able to play the song on the drums will fail miserably! MYSELF included! Thx for this wonderful video, I „sadly“ just found this video but I had a blast watching it! Best wishes from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋
This is a great comment Philipp - thanks for sharing your wonderfully positive thoughts! I noticed soon after I posted the video that a great number of commenters are drummers themselves, and that a whole lot of them, like you, have been playing for 30 years. I'm not sure why that number has been so prevalent, but hey, welcome to that club!
This little girl, is completely driving the beat for the band. And she is doing phenomenal!!! 11yrs old!! I'm blown away. Her parents should very proud of her. Keep it ROCKING NANDI!!!
I thought it was amazing when Grohl gave away his blue guitar to a kid during a concert, but this is another level of awesome. He didn't just praise the girl privately or on social media. He brought her on stage and gave her a memory that may never be topped.
Dave Grohl is one of my favorite human beings on this earth. The way he is with fans, kids and all he does for the less fortunate. Hands down someone we can all look up to, respect and love.
And the drumming in everlong MAKES the song. I can’t imagine playing drums in front of two of the best rock drummers who have ever lived . She nailed it

The biggest trap for any young drummer is getting excited and caught up in the moment and _increasing tempo_ She kept a machine steady studio bpm through it all, in this crazy setting. I am thoroughly impressed!
She wants to keep the stick, that's so cute... For the members, it might be another show, but for Nandi this is THE DAY to remember for the years to come. So happy for her!!!
I'm positive it wasn't just "another show" for these guys, either. They have kids, they all have a deep love and passion for music. Being able to lift up a young one who is talented and loves music as much as they do must have been such a treat. This is amazing and I am so happy they pulled this off!
I hope the person who caught the stick Nandi tossed, saw the interaction between she and Taylor, and realized how important this night was for her. It would really suck to see it posted on eBay or the Recycler or something…
I first saw the another of the videos from this night that didn't go as long. That one hadn't included the bit about Taylor giving her sticks to throw into the audience, and her KEEPING ONE. Absolutely adorable. Wish I could have been at this concert. This was a night to remember for EVERYONE.
I have a young daughter who would make fun of me if she saw me watching this with tears in my eyes thinking of how proud Nandi’s parents must have been, just like I would’ve been proud had that been my daughter. That was incredible. Kudos to whoever uploaded this.
You’re so very welcome! I had tears running down my cheeks when this was happening live, and they return with each subsequent viewing. It was such a wonderful moment, and I’m glad that its power has spread beyond those who were there to the rest of the world
A yeah, such a nice guy who only lets vaccinated fans to their shows. Fans who paid so much money on their albums and merch, but now aren't welcome. Even wanted Taylor to get vaccinated even when he didn't want too. Yeah he's so kind.
True! At 8.18 she lets it all out. I genuinely love her energy and excitement for music. I play guitar myself and she's already a better musician than I'll ever be. But we're kindred spirits in regards to our love for rock.
God damn, I was not expecting that. She's a bona fide drummer -- not a "kid who can play the drums" but an honest-to-god, straight-up drummer. Look out world.
I’m crying some tears of joy watching this. Just saw a Foo doc where Dave said he always dreamed as a kid that he’d be called up to play drums with his fave band. Now he’s helping others live that. She is so talented and Dave is such a nice guy.
I hope Nandi keeps playing. If she can play like that at 11 shw is going to be a MONSTER drummer when she is 20. I'm really looking forward to buying her first album, the girl rocks.

There are so many wonderful little moments in this video, but I think my favorite one may be that first drumstick twirl. After looking a bit overwhelmed in her initial moments on stage (who wouldn't be?), it was was her way of saying, "I got this". And she did.

What an absolute fucking force this girl is. The sheer stamina that you need to play this song as well as she did... And to do it at such a young age, on stage, with the band that wrote the song, in front on thousands of people... And to do it with that smile and joy. What a beast of a young drummer.
She was fantastic you're right that was the best thing I've seen for a long time, hope I get the opportunity to see the Foo Fighters live one day too they're so fuking good.
That's what really kills me; the staccato pattern you have to play through most of this song (is that 16th notes? 32nd?) would test the endurance of an adult drummer. That an 11-year old is up for it, in front of this crowd, is just amazing. And she plays the WHOLE song.
@@ajb695 I think it's 16th but two handed. It's high difficultly and taxing for that length of time, I'll never be able to do it. She was so consistent.
No - not really. Any intermediate drummer should be able to nail it with a little practice. The song requires technique, and done the wrong way you are getting tired out pretty fast. But...Nandi is only 11 years old, and THAT is the real story here. She is talented, a super confident and excellent showman, and it is a joy to see her love for the music and the moment.
@@bjarnejepsen2038 How to tell when someone doesn't drum or not. People are easily impressed by things anyone can do with practice. And you start to realize it's not difficult at all when you actually play. People just don't practice the right way to build up skill and technique. So everything seems difficult and impressive when others can pull it off. That goes for any instrument. When young people do these things it's impressive. But only if they weren't actively practicing and focusing on honing their skill and technique.
Holy, fuck. What an amazing little girl. I’ve always thought this was literally the most intense song from a drumming standpoint I’ve ever heard. Just mind blowing! She will go very far! Wow.
The way she stops herself from throwing the last drumstick and asks Taylor “can I keep this one?” the sweetest moment captured on video man 🥹 that was awesome 👏🏼
I love how she asked as well. And he was so loving and caring with how he reacted. Imagine being that talented at 11… doing what she did… I’d want to keep one of my sticks as well!
Wow, literally got chills when she got to the chorus because I could tell how good she must have felt in that moment. And then, that moment at the end when Taylor's showing her how to throw her sticks to the audience like a rockstar, and she starts to throw the second one but stops and says, "I wanna keep it," and Taylor says, "Yeah, keep it!" brought a tear to my eye. There's nothing corny about it just shows u have a❤️Taylor was good ppl never met him but the way his actions was with the crowd and just his attitude RIP TAYLOR
And Taylor is also a supreme gent by giving her the floor so there is no way you can doubt her awesomeness. Most drummers would just let you play along. The word for how cool this is does not exist!
It's the Foo Fighters they are just cool. To bring her up on stage like that even the intro by Dave was awesome. The kid has talent and even the y see it. I can't wait to see her grow and grow in the music world

I'm not a drummer, and while many comments have said some version of what you did, there have also been a number of blowhards who have said some version of "I don't see what the big deal, this song is so easy to play" 🙄

Try again

Dave Grohl is all what rock'n'roll is all about. He is a legend, he is truly in it for the music. Hats off to that guy.
Are there people who hate on Dave Grohl?
Kindness intimidates some people, it dulls the anger that fuels their existence. I've never really been a fan of Nirvana and definitely not Foo Fighters... I am a friend to the Foo, so obviously I would be opposed to those that are driven to fight the Foo. Aside from that one issue though, Dave is a fantastic person, artist, producer, dad and a decent drummer, not Nandi caliber, but close.

Giving her a few minutes of fame cost them little to nothing to make her dreams come true ❤️

That's exactly right.A Phenomenal moment in Foo Fighters history, for sure.

As soon as she started hitting that hihat you just know she's got it. Had the timing plus the power - what a memory for such a young kid!
This is one of the examples why Grohl and the FooFighters are great... They encourage future musicians
I thought it was amazing when Grohl gave away his blue guitar to a kid during a concert, but this is another level of awesome. He didn't just praise the girl privately or on social media. He brought her on stage and gave her a memory that may never be topped.

Most people don’t realize that the drummer is the heartbeat of ANY band.Awesome job Nandi. I hope she goes far in life as a musician
And the drumming in everlong MAKES the song. I can’t imagine playing drums in front of two of the best rock drummers who have ever lived . She nailed it

I cried throughout the whole thing. What a beautiful thing we got to witness!!!
I thought the same. But touring with an 11 yr old girl has it's issues unfortunately. She would be amazing tho.
Same, i got all choked up. She is awesome.
Didn't miss a beat and kept a consistent time the whole time. She actually crushed it like a pro. As a gigging drummer, I got to say she crushed this better than I would have.
She didn't even break a sweat! 🤟
The biggest trap for any young drummer is getting excited and caught up in the moment and _increasing tempo_
She kept a machine steady studio bpm through it all, in this crazy setting. I am thoroughly impressed!
She did very very well that songs got some pretty fast 16th notes flowing through it, her timing was right on
Exactly she did not speed up, which should be easy to do with the excitement of being on stage and all the adrenaline flowing
I agree totally!!!! I even closed my eyes to hear her technique - She IS the Real Deal HolyField!!!! Just Amazing!!!!
Imagine knowing what you're going to be doing for the rest of your life...at 11? What an amazing talent this young lady has, I wish her all the best!
Omg!!!!
Exactly! So cute that she was about to throw it was like nah I want to keep it. Adorbs.
I first saw the another of the videos from this night that didn't go as long. That one hadn't included the bit about Taylor giving her sticks to throw into the audience, and her KEEPING ONE. Absolutely adorable. Wish I could have been at this concert. This was a night to remember for EVERYONE.

I still think Yoyoka is a better drummer - but it's so amazing seeing these young girls absolutely crush at a pro level. This girl has a huge future.
She is a BEEEEEAAAAAASSST the tempo of that song is a killer for any drummer.
That's what really kills me; the staccato pattern you have to play through most of this song (is that 16th notes? 32nd?) would test the endurance of an adult drummer. That an 11-year old is up for it, in front of this crowd, is just amazing. And she plays the WHOLE song.
And she absolutely *crushes* it
@@ajb695 I think it's 16th but two handed.

I noticed that exact moment as well, how cool!
It's corny and cliche to say, but that was a truly beautiful moment. RIP Taylor.

Me too. She mention that stick after Taylor's death too,
She seems to be a kid who is being raised right. Kudos to the parents!
And Taylor is also a supreme gent by giving her the floor so there is no way you can doubt her awesomeness. Most drummers would just let you play along. The word for how cool this is does not exist!
