It's so strange watching old footage like this. I recently watched another of the Foos from an old SNL taping, had to have been from 2001. They were performing "times like these" and at some point Jim Carrey crashes the stage and starts to pretend playing on a guitar using his leg while hopping around on the other. Made me laugh while at the same time my eyes started to well up with tears, because I remembered when it originally broadcasted. I was in my sophomore year visiting at my grandparents house which I typically did a lot of in my younger days. My aunt would change the channel over to it and we would all be up late together watching with pie, coffee and ice cream. Funny how certain things evoke a very specific memory that I'm sure you've all experienced as well and wish you could revisit. Anyway, thanks for listening.
I'm so used to watching performances from the 90s-early 2000s that were uploaded here years ago that I didn't realize that this was actually from 3 weeks ago
I was given a videotape from 2000 to capture a short local news segment from it, but I ended up watching and recording the whole thing which included some interesting and amusing old ads, and this great Foo Fighters appearance.
That was the only interesting music on that tape; the rest of the content was other TV shows from the era like Seinfeld and Friends or whatever. The old ads were the most interesting part of that.
@@nintendonut100 Er, which one was that? Most albums were seen as post-grunge/sub-hardcore with a couple of good singles on each, and that was old hat by the late 90s. More serious pre-millenium futurism such as Radiohead & The Prodigy and rap/hip hop were the order of the day, and Marilyn Manson and nu-metal were in the ascendant for the kidz. I don't think FF ever had a true classic, altho TC&TS was probably their peak. They quickly became a festival band with the odd classic single.

what a great live performance of this song. big fan of these dudes. massive high energy. been playing this song for years as a cover and thought I'd try sing and play it. Nup, i give up, typical drummer able to hold down unusual timing and sing at the same time. I'll stick to guitar.
_why did Dave love this song so much?_ seriously, Dave had great taste in music on the air, but why THIS song? when did it come out? late '90s? what was it about this song for him? it's so odd. this song closed out the entire Dave Letterman era. and if you don't know how big a deal that is, you weren't there.
There was a time in the 2000's when Dave started copying the vocal style of the singer from Monster Magnet.. I miss Dave's vocals from 95 until early 2000s.
Taylor was an absolute monster on the drums.
Lol he killed himself😂
amazing sound
RIP 🙏
@@LeFlopPleaseRetireNow why lol?
You would have to be with Grohl breathing down your neck.
Maybe the best intro ever, "My favorite band playing my favorite song, Foo Fighters"
Holding the CD upside down tho
Strangely I believed it when he said that, and that was confirmed years later when Dave had them playing him out in his final broadcast.
Damn, I can't believe this was over 24 years ago now
Yea man hate how time is like this
Don't remind me of my age
Tell me about it.

crazy that you were there
Dave was born on the same day/year as me. I watch this and see me when we/I was young. I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now...

Thank you for the free cringe, genuinely

No words can express this song!!!!!!🔥😎
I remember watching this the night it aired. Man, time flies by so fast.
It’s cool seeing stuff like this, idk why but I find this kinda thing fascinating.
They always loved playing on Letterman, He had some of the best music acts. One of the best live shows on his show. Rip Tayor Hawkins 🙏🙏🙏🙏
You know this was only 6-7 years since nirvana that’s crazy now it’s been 34-35 years since
from drummer to lead guitarist and main vocals. what a freaking legend!
Best song ever
In Foo We Trust
David Letterman+Foo Fighters=Perfection.
Love that camera angle on Chris and Dave attacking their guitars in rhythm.
I didn’t know David Letterman had such a good taste in music
This was a long time ago, and dam it's still good. Missing Taylor Hawkins a lot.
24 years later, Dave is still with us, Taylor not. Bittersweet.
¡Increíble presentación! Muchas gracias por compartir. 🍷
Wow, the last 90 seconds gave me chills.
Fantastic
Taylor Hawkins was a beast. My favorite drummer in spired me to keep playing drums
You need a better role model lmfao
They were a legacy nostalgia band even after 5 years, lol.
That's what happens when you have an era defining album, I guess

Damn, they sounded actually great here, the energy is amazing! (well after all it was the 2000s...)
i saw them open for the red hot chili peppers around this time and i felt sorry for the peppers to have to follow that

Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red
Out of her head, she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head
Out of her head, she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever be this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head
Out of my head, I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
Gotta love Dave Grohl
Nope.
Like this band! From NZ i believe
Taylor was a beast on the skins!!!!!👏🆒
RIP Taylor
I Fu⚡in love Earth Soul ⚡Blues RocknRoll...
IMO,one of the best rock bands of all time🙌
One of the most over rated.
There will always be those that don’t like them. I.e your hardcore Nirvana fans. Who just can’t take to Dave Grohl as a frontman

Dave grohl fifth Beatle confirmed???

Where's Pat Smear?
He left the band years before this gig.

It’s not Learning To Fly, but it’s not bad!
Taylor is equal to animal on the muppet show
Should've PLAYED "easy target/i'm alone."
Dave was so hot
2 guitars that sound like 20.
No blue guitar, Pat Smear, or guy on a Mellotron.
Still potent. Just kids.
Crazy to think I was born 3 months later😅
