@fudgemuppet any plans for a UC Citizen (earned through military service aka Soldier Background), with parents and wanted (for a bit of spice)? Something like Tyrus Rechs of Galaxy's Edge books starting as an ex-soldier getting back in adventure with Constellation and Vanguard and based off armors, rifles and space ships and droids.
Havent watched the video yet, but knowing how nerfed and bad melee is in Starfield, I wanna say I appreciate all the pain you went through to make this video.
I love it that when Scott explains why he doesn't like a jetpack with this build we see game gameplay footage that includes a decoration item that says "if you jump ,no jetpack" 4:25

Lovely content as always, been following your stuff for years. I recall you mentioning a stealth sniper, or a John Wick style stealth build in another video. Would love to see both of these as future builds!
For my version (when my system can actually run the game) I have considered using Alien DNA instead of Introvert as he/she (not quite sure yet) is wanted because of the dna.
Okay, hear me out: Mantis build. Obvious perks at character creation Adoring Fan (Robin for Batman), Wanted (for RP purposes the next in line to the Mantis Mantle is hunted down until they become Mantis and then, it continues as obviously the Mantis would be wanted by criminals), And Dream Home (for that New Batcave Base). You’d obviously want to take the Razorleaf from beginning-middle-end, Mods to make when you first get it, when you’re ready for class B and when you’re ready for class C. (Definitely need to add a brig 😂). Basically a Batman build that fits in universe.

I just made a new character yesterday loosely based on Goro Takamura from Cyberpunk, this build complements it literally perfect! Thanks as always for the videos FudgeMuppet.
Anyone who's still using this (and I highly recommend you do!) might want to consider adding a single rank of Weapon Engineering right before Spacesuit Design. Under normal circumstances, Sharpened Wakizashis don't stop dropping until L40 and that first rank lets you research all the melee modifications.
You can use followers with this build. I use Andreja with this build along with the mod Amazing Companion Tweaks. It makes all companions undetectable when sneaking. I use the cheat room mod to get another operative suit and wakizashi for her. Also there is another mod out that is a Ryujin Opertive Spacesuit. It's called Ryujin Operative Spacesuit - New Spacesuit Varieties by The_Wulfy. I built my own Ryujin operative ship that uses the ryujin colors found on their clothing and has a mod that gives it the ability to cloak itself. I also used the The Razorleaf ship parts so it makes the crimson fleet run from me.
Chems are one of the most slept on parts of this game. They can literally transform your entire combat experience. Side note, Amp is also great for traversing long stretches of land when your objective is far away from your ship’s landing spot. You can cut the running time almost in half that way.
this is a really good video, loved the backstory as well! for a second character ill probaly go melee but with lightsaber mods etc, maybe some sort of jedi or sith build lol
This is no hate on you but Ronin were distinctively different to Ninja/Shinobi. I don't know how Bethesda screwed that up. They were the furthest thing from stealthy warriors. This mistake is akin to categorising Cowboys as Snipers. Ronin used the same armor and weapons as the Samurai.

I never wanted to do a melee build before watching this video, and now i'm counting time to get home and log in starfield to play this 😂 Anyway, great build as always! I'm looking foward for the next build too, especially if it is a Va'ruun based one 👀
People keep perpetuating the notion that melee is weak in Starfield. I find it to be quite strong and extremely useful, just situational. Sure, it's no good against elites, but it's downright amazing when you're swarmed by trash. A good wakizashi or painblade will take out trash in a couple hits, and the 10%-heal-per-kill means you don't even have to pay any attention to your health. And with melee, you hardly ever miss your target! My playstyle mixes melee with sniper rifle. I maxed out melee early on in my first playthrough, and I have no regrets whatsoever.
The only thing limiting melee is lack of weapon choice and/or ability to mod the weapons. Against pretty much any humanoid opponent you can shred them instantly even at higher levels. The only time it really struggles are some of the elite humanoids that are damage sponges and some alien creatures. That said, I would absolutely take more skills/crafting/item options to augment it.
What's cooler than a chem enhanced space ninja? A chem enhanced ninja with space magic obviously. Precognition can let you see enemy paths while Sense Star Stuff can let you see living creatures through walls. Personal Atmosphere gives unlimited oxygen for running and power attacks. Grav Dash can boost you forward without breaking your stealth and boost your damage by up to 2x for 15 seconds at level 10. Void Form can make you temporarily invisible. Earthbound can turn your personal gravity to earth levels which is actually incredible for mobility in low or 0 G environments especially when you are rocking 4x jump height. And then of course there are a few offensive powers to use. And one of the chems not mentioned in this video gives 100% increased power regen and 500 physical and energy resistance for 5 minutes.

Something that kinda bugged me about the fallout 4 roleplay build videos was how railroaded each character seemed to have to be before the game. Always an Army Veteran/Practicing lawyer, always married, always had a son to go find, so very limited. I enjoyed those videos, but at the end of the character's pre-game arc, it always bottlenecked to the same point. For some reason I don't feel that here, though it's technically the same, starting the game as a no-name dusty-ass miner. The PC truly starts as a blank slate before then, and I love watching the portraits painted with the characters here in Starfield. Fudgemuppet, y'all the best ❤
I'm curious to try this build out after the June 2024 update which buffed melee weapons. Getting going with the Trackers Alliance gets you a nice early armor set before stealth play really comes online which is also nice.
You guys should do a United Colonies soldier build next, since you’ve already done every other faction: Freestar, Crimson Fleet, Ryujin. Maybe take inspiration from the likes of Master Chief from Halo, Commander Shepard from Mass Effect, and the Space Marines from Warhammer. A super soldier utilizing the Alien DNA trait I think would be really cool.
Im really hoping for a roleplaying version of the classic stealth shooter. I know there are tons of vids out there on it but a well thought out background and story and ship would be cool to see.
I think an interesting role play experience would be a charismatic psychopath, focused on melee and speech perks. I think you guys could come up with a cool back story for a character like that.
Great build! I just have a few tweaks of my own. I made my character an old fat man named Jerry who has the Kids Stuff and Adoring Fan traits instead. Still a stealth, gymnastics, and melee focused build. This old man still has some moves.
Hi y'all loved the video, just dropping my comments here to request a space trucker build. a build that focuses on building ships and outposts and hauling goods to different systems. Thank you very much y'all have a good day
“Make me a sandwich” build This one is mostly a joke, so if you really want to try go ahead. This build entails a character with stupid backgrounds and perks although he/she is also extremely efficient in whatever it could be so throughout you play through you will be constantly trying new things now this is where the “make me a sandwich” comes in. Each time you find a sandwich in your travels molded or not - you have to eat it and second once you have depending on which side the sandwich has been molded, it selects you perks for instance; a molded sandwich in whatever direction you find it is the direction of skill charts you have to take from the center skill chart (which is obviously Combat) and a intact sandwich allows you the freedom of choosing your desired perk chart. after this you must leave you skill tree on that chart and continue through you travels until you come across another sandwich, good luck. “Contain” build “The Earthborn” build “The Stray” build “The Multi-universe Mutation” build “The Clumsy” build “The Fleet Pincer” build “The Star Defector” build “The Va’ruun Fanatic” build (obviously) “The Reliant” build This is interesting this character is heavily reliant of followers which is great because at the start of the game you don’t have any perks in the “leader” skill which makes you role-play to earn the trust of you fellows not only that but most dialogue options you intimidate regardless of whether it’s successful or not to make it more imaginative. “The Commando” build Pretty self-explanatory - a warrior/soldier squad build, any gender with a unique talent for follower group combat, a leader and both a loved and hatred figure, now depending on who you are - you don’t need to be right you just need a single-mindset when role playing. “The Awful, The Good - but definitely not The Ugly” build “What do I see or you see?” This build is a charming man with ties to nothing but that question, he constantly makes enemies and friends, simply because he doesn’t consider it necessary to be friends so he has them. Each quest you play you play for mixed results, it’s all up to you. “The Unity” build A build that practices “the Unity” through battle or diplomacy, he or she always peers into the subservient space which replaces her responsibility in her actions. Meaning in simplicity he or she plays through quests with secret glimpses of The Unity which will make it interesting (if role-playing) when you meet both The Hunter and The Emissary. “The Bedroom Pleaser” build Uh so I guess it could work? So pretty self-explanatory the objective of this character is to “please” everyone around with fornication? Which means this character is also charming obviously and sneaky, sly and passionate with feelings, have at it people. These are the ones I made the ones not detailed is for your imagination to make up, and also because I’m lazy.
To level stealth super fast get yourself a suppressed kraken and go alien hunting. Each burst of about 10 rounds does 3-4 sneak attacks. I did the 40 sneak attacks for lvl 3 stealth in about 5 minutes.
As much as I love OG FudgeMuppet builds, I've grown to love the ship builds more cuz I'm dog at ship building. Can't wait for an explorer/constellation or Mantis/BH build.
that was a fun build now here's an idea can we have a build based on The Mantis? powers and all? i mean who doesn't wanna play as a superhero for a playthrough?
Dont know if anyone else is having this issue but notice the build was using rejuvenation and i use that on my character but it just doesn't work in combat it refuses to heal me it works fine out of combat but really annoying knowing i use 2 skill points for it just to not work
So idk how your experience was without it because I haven't tried it but my melee build uses the skip pack and I find it great for closing the gap between enemies. Also this isn't skyrim you can slice and dice in the air
I built my character very similarly, except instead of Introvert I grabbed Serpent's Embrace. I ended up playing mostly as a tanky gunner tho, but love having the option to sneak and use melee attacks

“What do I see or you see?” This build is a charming man with ties to nothing but that question, he constantly makes enemies and friends, simply because he doesn’t consider it necessary to be friends so he has them. Each quest you play you play for mixed results, it’s all up to you.
“The Unity” build
A build that practices “the Unity” through battle or diplomacy, he or she always peers into the subservient space which replaces her responsibility in her actions. Meaning in simplicity he or she plays through quests with secret glimpses of The Unity which will make it interesting (if role-playing) when you meet both The Hunter and The Emissary.
“The Bedroom Pleaser” build
Uh so I guess it could work? So pretty self-explanatory the objective of this character is to “please” everyone around with fornication? Which means this character is also charming obviously and sneaky, sly and passionate with feelings, have at it people.
These are the ones I made the ones not detailed is for your imagination to make up, and also because I’m lazy.
Thank you
He could do an engineer/ship builder character build with the rivet gun and arc welder weapons at his disposal.
Found a furious katana that has helped negate some of the bad mele.
Finally!!! Yeeeeesssssssss!!!!
To level stealth super fast get yourself a suppressed kraken and go alien hunting. Each burst of about 10 rounds does 3-4 sneak attacks. I did the 40 sneak attacks for lvl 3 stealth in about 5 minutes.
NICE‼️
Very nice! Big game hunter/explorer next please!
This is an awesome build, I’m wondering if next build you’ll make a character that specializes in the Powers.
the one skill that synergizes with powers is chemistry. Then research methods for cheaper power boosting chems
So good.
As much as I love OG FudgeMuppet builds, I've grown to love the ship builds more cuz I'm dog at ship building. Can't wait for an explorer/constellation or Mantis/BH build.
Liked the Riddick reference
that was a fun build now here's an idea can we have a build based on The Mantis? powers and all? i mean who doesn't wanna play as a superhero for a playthrough?
Let's go!!
Kinda reminds me of the ninja assassin from the neuromancer book if you ever read any William gibbson books
Suuuuure I guess I'll hop back on Starfield
