    I've been a huge line 6 fan till I bought this amp today. This amp has some of the best sounds I have ever heard out of an amp this size. I love the laptop connectivity..

    @toasterjoe70 thanks for the comment man. I wanted to do the vid 'cause I was excited about the amp so I hope you love it too. All the best.

    I just bought this amp today. I am having to adjust my thinking regarding this digital way of doing things. You've really helped me out. Thank you very much.

    All kidding aside, it's quite refreshing to hear someone knowledgable in music review something, that isn't endorsed or paid to do so. Thanks for this review, man!

    Again......great video you did. I want to add to that if you run a line to another speaker, all the stereo effects will be in stereo, just as if you were running into your computer speakers, via USB or using headphones. You'll get some good bottom end sound too by running another speaker cabinet .....with a 12" inch speaker. If I were using mine live, that's how I'd do it, along with some separation to bring out the stereo modulation effects.

  • @jimdep6542
    @jimdep6542 8 месяцев назад

    Enjoyed the video and it's a great amp. You said " if it didn't do cleans well , it wouldn't be worth buying." That's true for ANY amp.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад +1

    Well I don't play any myself to really know, but the British amp is a Marshall emulation and I think it sounds pretty "real". It is my favourite for thick rock/blues tones.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    Thanks dude. I've been playing for 35 years and was so excited about this amp I wanted to share. The only better sounding amp I've ever used was a Vox AC30 I used in my last professional band, but this amp has loads of great sounds, not just 1.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  11 лет назад +1

    A very old Ibanez with locking trem system. I now use a Les Paul as it suits the band I'm in better. I can get a lovely blues tone from this amp.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @koalacheroki thats correct. Can be used for up and down of patches or you can have a couple of favourites. I purchased the 4 button too. Very useful having both.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  11 лет назад +2

    100 presets, but with the software you can store as many as you want on your computer and put them in your amp when you need

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад +1

    @DJMannas Please let me know what you think when you get it. Yes, all the amps and cabs are very authentic. With the Marshall you can get great pinched harmonics and it's fat sounding. Have a great time playing.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @Bogie6588 you are so right! and just rolling off the volume on the guitar changes the tone just like a valve amp would

  • @6Mephisto666

    As soon as you played the first chord I knew I'm gonna buy this thing :)

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад +1

    @BaDG0oD I use it with a live drummer, another guitarist and a bass player and rarely turn it above 4! 100 watts is loud when it sounds this good.

  • @wivl1
    @wivl1 12 лет назад +1

    When you strummed that first chord I was ready to go into "A Taste Of Honey"

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад

    @NtGism yes indeed. My advice, for what it's worth, get the nicest clean sound you can on the amp without the pedal board, then use the pedals. If you have true bypass on the pedals you can use some of the programing features on the amp. It gives lovely sustain. I use NO pedals anymore!

  • @examiner
    @examiner  11 лет назад +1

    Really? Myself and 2 other band members use them live and have done for some time and find them great....for the price! I am always looking for a better tone though, which guitar player isn't? What setup do you use?

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад +1

    @MrShredder666 It's impossible to say. It IS small which suits me. It gets over a drummer and bass player no problem at all, but I'm not playing hard rock or anything like that. I have never had the volume knob above 4. Another guy in the band has the next one up with 2 12" speakers. Not that much more money for the extra power if ya think you might need it.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @playerslightregular In my experience, 35 odd years, it is the guitars that buzz and hum, not the amps. If I play the guitar near to the PC, it'll hum because the pickups pick up the RF interference. I have never had any problems with strange noises when gigging.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад +1

    @zemanel1231 The distortion sound are great, both the amp overdrive and the distortion pedal simulation. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of drop tunings and I don't play heavy metal, but great sound is great sound, and this amp rocks.

  • @rjoz
    @rjoz 12 лет назад

    @examiner Nice video! Incidentally, there is a cover made by Fender for this amp. Sweetwater sells it for just under $20. Their item number is 'Mustang3Cvr'

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @nelrazor1 There is nothing on the back but the footswitch ports (2 and 4 button) and the FX loop. There is an emulated heaphone out on the front. The only amp I ever heard with a decent line out is the Blackstar. If you want to record directly, use a pc and the USB out. It sounds exactly like the speaker out, and you can choose stereo chorus and delays in the amp.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @xylophoneblaine yes I think it would hold up to traveling, but there is no cover for it, so the black covering will mark. Having said that, I've put mine in and out of the car many times and it still looks great 'cause I'm careful! The knobs and switches seem sturdy. I was playing last night on a pretty large stage with a full band and LOUD vocal foldback (the lead singer is a bit deaf!) and I had the master volume on only 3.5. Loads of gigging power.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад

    @MrShredder666 well it's pretty solidly made and very nicely finished. There are no metal corners on it which would have been nice. As far as knobs and electronics go, I'd say very gig worthy.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад

    @fran6283 100 presets. you have to over-write a preset for your own sounds but the software it comes with is a librarian to save as many as you want. No looper. The fx are purely guitar fx and amp/speaker modeling.

  • @DarthBrutalous
    @DarthBrutalous 12 лет назад +1

    Hey I have the Fender Mustang 1, which is pretty much the same thing as the 3 except that the 3 is bigger and has an LCD screen. I can get some really heavy tones with the thing. You could probably achieve the sound you're looking for by making your own amp preset using Fender FUSE that comes with the amp. The possibilties are endless with this amp. I made everything from a Clapton sound to a thick, heavy sort of super metal tone. I play classic heavy metal but u can get the new stuff too.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад

    @tz750 Yes. Just edit a sound and reduce the volume on the preset. Then use the main volume on the amp to adjust for your room.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    Well you can, to a point. The LCD shows the current positions of controls, which is handy, but if you want to change Bias or SAG you have to use the screen. Also true for changing FX. Having basic tone/volume controls on top is brilliant for quick tempory adjustments while playing, something you can't normally do with fx pedals and the like.

  • @kingdnh
    @kingdnh 11 лет назад +1

    Yeah, it's really loud actually. Anything over 6 will start to be louder than the drums.

  • @Bogie6588
    @Bogie6588 12 лет назад +1

    Wow. The more I listen, the more impressed I am! It sounds as if the pick response is very close to that of a valve amp. Is that true, or is it just my wishful thinking?

  • @foonykins
    @foonykins 11 лет назад +1

    Is the 100w version stupid loud? Like, would I have trouble playing this in a bedroom? I don't wanna drop down in wattage cause i like the screen showing where the knobs are in the patch, but I live in an apartment so I need to be mildly considerate of neighbors

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @CrossHolder92 No idea M8, never heard a vox vt80, or even seen one. FX loop allows you to add external fx like reverb or delay pedals to your setup without affecting the original tone of your guitar. I feel it's totally unneeded when all the fx are built into the amp

  • @NtGism
    @NtGism 13 лет назад +1

    can I plug my guitar into a multieffects pedal and then to the amp? Will the amp respond to the variety of sounds of the pedal-board?

  • @guitarmasterme
    @guitarmasterme 11 лет назад

    that is awesome, you can download the individual sounds for the old songs from their website, so if you want iron maiden you go to their website, find that sound and press download, and you can use it with the amp :b and it handles them well :b

  • @NiekkieNick
    @NiekkieNick 11 лет назад +1

    This is a very nice amp. I am getting one myself, but I am afraid the 3 will be too big for just practicing at home. What I like about the 3 is the lcd display. Very easy to adjust all the settings. Much easier then with the 1 or the 2, but only thing that concerns me is the power of this amp. Will it be a bone shaker when just playing at home, or is it manageable so that the volume is acceptable and not annoying the neighbours?

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад +1

I needed some sparkling clean sound for my band but some great lead sounds with huge sustain for my own stuff. Mustang 3 delivered.

    The amp comes with Fender Fuse software and the community has many sounds you can download and use. Better still, use the software and make it yourself, it's easy.

  • @hazuinf
    @hazuinf 12 лет назад +1

    I was thinking of getting this as a first gigging amp. I've never had a tube amp before, and would like this, so was wondering if this is much worse than tube amps in the price range (£200-£300), and whether it's good enough for gigging.

  • @dalekslay

    I noticed that some of the names on your presets don't match the names on factory ones, is that through fender fuse downloaded presets or can you name them yourself?

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад

    @thestrid82 The master volume does, as you say, jump suddenly. I have never tried to play "very" quietly, but I can program a patch with very little volume on it so I can turn up the master. The headphone out is great.

  • @pdoshadow
    @pdoshadow 11 лет назад

    Great amp! I use it everyday :) Fender Fuse software is pretty great too.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @wretcheddog I think with a little patience you could get just about anybody's tone. The amp simulation "british 80's" is a marshall. combined with the 4x12 speaker sim I think you get pretty close to Slash tones, especially if you have Les Paul style axe.
    Load up the Fender ASIO drivers and you can choose the amp as the recording input, and the tone from the USB out is exactly the same as through the speaker. It records brilliantly, especially as you can choose stereo delays to record

  • @examiner
    @examiner  11 лет назад

    Because it's programmable you can program the sound to be quite quiet and use the master volume to really control the sound without losing the tone. You can also plug in headphones. The Mustang 2 is nice but programming is limited in comparison the the 3

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @Bogie6588 12 лет назад

    Hello sir! Great demo! Have you used a wah pedal with the amp yet? If so, does it respond well? I love all the amp models and effects it offers. I use my cry baby wah extensively in my sound, so it certainly would be nice if they worked well together. Thank you for the nice demo!

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    Jeez, never felt the amp muddy! The other guitar player in the band uses a mustang 3 with a Telecaster and it bites my head off its so bright. I can even get kinda jangly with my Les Paul, but of course they are a much thicker, less top end guitar. I personally hate the neck profile on Strats, but there you go. Just taste.

    Hi the sound effects are great. Can you get the Shadows Hank Marvin sound settings? That early sixties echo reverb sound.
    I know you can subscribe to the Fender Fuse software will this type of sound be on this software?
    Thankyou

    • @examiner
      @examiner  8 лет назад

      Probably pretty close I think. The reverb you're after is a simple spring reverb which it does. I no longer use this amp, or in fact any guitar amp, so I can't try it for you. There is a new version of the amp too.

  • @examiner
    @examiner  12 лет назад

    @JdBekk45 Find a sound you want to edit. Edit it. Press SAVE, choose where you want to save it, IE patch 00 to 99,( it will be on the patch number you were editing to start with) press SAVE again. OR use Fuse software to download some great sounds and save in the same way.

    Hey man question: When I have the volume knob maxed and turn up the master knob past 6, the amp volume drops out. However when I play backing tracks through the AUX jack, I can turn the master knob to maximum and it doesn't drop out. Is this normal for the amp, or do I need a repair?

  • @examiner
    @examiner  13 лет назад

    @presatito Well, I have a friend with the II and it's not bad, but the III is much easier to use and a lot of the programming can be done on the amp itself. You HAVE to use Fuse software with the II. With some careful programing the III can sound really good at low levels, as you are still driving the preamp hard, but you can program the master really low.

      I've heard nothing but good things about the Fender Mustang Floor model. The only downside is you have to have a separate speaker cabinet. That might not be a bad thing though because you can match it with whatever speaker you want.
      A few years back, I hooked my Mustang III up to run through the speakers of my Peavey Stereo Chorus 212 . It sounded fantastic through those two Scorpion 12 inch speakers.

    • @jimdep6542
      @jimdep6542 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@littlebritain64 I've heard the same thing from other guitarist's opinions that I trust. They made the new GT models compatible with Blue Tooth, but they also changed the speaker to better accommodate music for backing tracks that people like to download and play through their amps. By doing that though, it effected the guitar tone in a negative way. These are just other people's views, and I've never tried a GT model myself. I still really like my originals Mustangs ( I've got a Mustang 1 v 2 and a Mustang III v1 ) I'm happy with them and it seems like I'm always finding new things to do with them.
