VERSION 2.0 Video demo click here... • Fender Mustang Amps V2...
The Fender Mustang III is a 100-watt open-backed combo with a 12" Celestion speaker that utilises modeling software technology to re-create classic Fender, UK and other popular US amplifier models. It contains 100 amp presets derived from 12 different amp models, delivering tones from vintage Fender sparkle to contemporary metal distortion, and 37 different effects in four categories (stomp, modulation, delay and reverb) that can be accessed at the push of a button ...
With a power rating of 100 watts the Fender Mustang III covers pretty much all bases and is loud enough for rehearsals and gigs whilst the 1/8" headphone input doubles as speaker-emulated line out. To further expand the possibilities of the Mustang III combo, connect it to your computer via the on-board USB port with the free Fender FUSE application software.
Suddenly this opens up an entire world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, additional effects, unlimited preset storage, online preset swapping with the Fender FUSE community, and free Fender artist presets. Mustang III's included programmable two-button footswitch controls the preset up/down programme access, effects on/off and tap tempo (optional four-button footswitch also available).
This is an amp that you need to hear to be able to appreciate just how good the software emulations are, the 100 watt rating will be loud enough for all but the biggest venues and there is a host of amplifier models to cover every possible musical genre. See this fabulous amp now at PMT - Professional Music Technology
You will know when it sounds good, when the crowd is blown away by your sound. I picked up the 100 Watt Mustange 3, right after it came out. I have use this amp ever since then, at many concerts, night clubs, parties, and events. I use a 1992 Jeff Beck Series purple Strat, with this amp and it kicks ass. What a excellent sound compo these two tools, can produce. I use a old yellow Boss sustain pedal, with a volume pedal, into a wireless system back into the Mustange 3. I love the stock Patch 12, I believe it is a twin reverb compression patch, with reverb. It is perfect for everything from country to metal, using my Boss sustain, for a boost, on the lead solo's. The whole band is using Fender amps, (original Twin Reverbs). But, this little amp keeps up at every gig, and I believe it sounds better then the old amps do. I've been on the road with the Mustange 3, off, and on, for over a year now, with no problems. You cannot beat the price, it is extremely light. I highly recommend this amp for pro's, and beginners. I'm making money with it. Works for me.
leightonrocks so how do you switch channels live
moto theroad the amp comes with a pedal that can do that
@@mototheroad2566 the Mustang III comes with a 2 button foot switch - to go up and down presets. I strongly recommend you buy the 4 button switch, that is standard with the IV and V, which Fender still carries. I own a III, IV, and V.
Golf Hound Which is better Mustang lll , lllll against Roland KATANA 100 Watts. I’m confused which one has better features ? I already own Mustang 1 V2 for rehearsal.Planning to buy the good recommendation.Thanks...
Many videos on this amp but I head first for Damon Chivers, who is always congenial, articulate, and a terrific player. Rock on DC!
I borrowed a Mustang III from a friend to play at church because my other amp broke down. We use in-ear monitors with no sound on stage. I just turned the master all the way down. This amp amazed me. The overall sound is very impressive. It takes pedals well. You can play clean by turning guitar volume down, mimicking a tube amp. It cuts through the mix exceptionally well. It is very easy to carry around because it is so lightweight. Fabulous amp. This is the best digital/modeling amp since the Line6 Flextone amps. But it is more versatile and lightweight. Fender hit a home run with this amp. I am going to buy one for myself soon.
It sounds tinny in this vid, maybe it's just the recording....does it sound more full in actual use?
Had this amp for years- thank you for demonstrating it so well and fun to boot. Ty
I highly recommend getting this amp if you're trying to find a quality and affordable gigging amp. The mustang III is $329 but it is so freaking loud, I've never gone past 5 on the master volume. Buy the 4-button footswitch, and combine it the 2-button footswitch (included with the amp) and you have a versatile pedal board. The amp also has an FX loop you can you use for your pedals.
Terrific review as always, Damon... concise, thorough, articulate, well-played, appropriate style for preset chosen, etc. Bravo! Keep 'em coming.
ok, i have one, and it doesn't autosave, but you just press a button to save your changes. i would hate if it autosaved; i like to experiment knowing i can still go back to how it was if i want, because that way i don't have to remember everything i changed. you probably won't care for a lot of the presets, which are there to showcase what the amp is capable of if you happen to desire those particular effects. they are based on existing songs and artists and are named accordingly, but if you don't gaf about a certain preset you can just use it to make what you want. there's nothing off limits to any channel you modify as far as what the amp offers. not all the emulations are golden to the trained ear, but you can't complain given this amp's purpose and price point. it is meant to shape shift into almost anything you can come up with. anything.
Man i sure wish i still had my mustang 3 ,,,i really did like the tones qnd even the effects were very useable
Lastly it comes with a 2 button foot switch to change between the preset your on to the next or back. If you set it up like I did. You could play some Opeth style stuff, like have one clean and shaped to your standards and the other to a distortion and again shaped to your choosing. It's a great amp for the money.
This is very cool amp! Thanks for the great demo! I have tried a Fender Mustang II V2 40-Watt amp, and I was totally impressed by the way it sounded. It was the beefiest and best sounding amp for it's size that I have ever heard. I was planning on getting the Mustang II, but now I'm debating on getting that amp or the Mustang III. For only about $130 more than the Mustang II, the Mustang III sure is a great value. :)
@MichelVonBerlin I agree, but this amp really sound top on the clean sounds.
Kind regards
@Igamikun A 'Squier Standard Strat' is the the line of that guitar as the titles In the video state. It's obviously a new instrument so probably made this or last year. I disagree with you as the reason we used a Squier is shows the amp would be a good choice for those upgrading from a basic small practice amp. Also of a similar price to a Squier Standard instrument so the video is not just showing the amp with more expensive guitars but will work well with any priced instrument.
Just seen one of these in my local music shop and they are awsome for the money. I have a crate flexwave halfstack and against this on the clean channel this is better for half the price, I know the flexwave is better for metal but I think this is an awsome amp
I just got this amp.....super loud
Awesome amp! A virtual library of classic amp sounds and fx rolled into one light and LOUD package. Never regretted purchasing this amp for a minute since I bought it. If you have a good ear with a bit of patience (and a decent guitar, lol), there aren't many tones you can't get outta this thing.
There noise gate is accessed via the advanced amp section on the Fender Fuse software. You can adjust 'Noise Gate Custom Parameters' there. Unusual for so many different amps to have the same fault. Will try it out when I'm back in store tomorrow.
@telecasterbear You dont have to use the amp with the software in order to alter settings, fender have just given you the software incase you want to change an amp model to your sepcific settings and save it without having to use a small screen. Just helps make editing simpler really if you want to use the feature :)
I had been tone searching for years, I bought a marshall and a blackstar still never had a good sound then I bought one of these amps using a boss gt 10 with it and it will blow your mind a way I would recommend this amp to any guitar player to try this amp!!!
@thewhorocks524 Some people say that because an amp has fx in it you can't use external fx but thats daft. You can use any pedal in front of the amp just like any other and wah's etc will work just fine, you would want to select a clean amp channel if your using a distortion pedal. There is an fx loop for any fx you would want to use after the amps pre amp just like a regular amp. Its just a matter of selecting the right Mustang sound for the pedals you want to use.
i completely agree man i just bought this amp used for $200 and its amazing blows my old line 6 and mustang 1 out of the water thank you for the great informative review sir!
Got myself a mustang 3 today after much thought and I love it sounds great thanks for the videos they really helped👍
I've had the Mustang IV since i was in high school. Its been through so much abuse over the years, and only one speaker works on it. I was actually planning on replacing it with a Marshall, but they're so damn expensive. So i decided to upgrade to the Mustang V, and I'm so glad i did. Not long after that, I learned about slaving amps together, and now I'm rocking a Mustang IV/V full stack 🤘
Did you replace the speaker in your Mustang IV yet? A few years ago I ran my Mustang III and a Peavey Stereo Chorus 212 combo amp together. Using the Mustang's preamp, The Scorpion speakers in the Peavejy 212 sounded great...better than the speakers that Fender used. If I were to replace the speaker in my Mustang, I look into getting a Scorpion 12 inch, and they're not that expensive.
@@jimdep6542 no, I actually switched the connections for the speakers around, just to test it out, speakers are fine, but it was one of the components on the circuit board that was loose. I just need to take it to an Amp tech to have it looked at.
@@Agoyo-ei8vm OK.....that makes more sense, that it would be something else besides the speaker. The component part itself it probably really cheap to replace.......I hope the labor fee is reasonable.
Just bought one of these & can't wait to get my hands on it ... thanks for the review ... you're a fantastic player.
This is and old video showcasing the Mustang V1 amps. Some of the V1 amps had problems with fizz, the problem has been solved with the V2 amps.
I just bought a Mustang III V2 and I love it. By far the best modeling amp for the money.
Absolutely love that country deluxe sound...caught my attention immediately..wow!
Same here. It sounded to me the real deal for a great country guitar tone.
@shirakawa2 The volume control is well tapered and it's no problem to get that low play at home volume level that can be tricky with some valve amps which get real loud at about 1. The advantage of a Mustang 3 is that the screen makes editing a breeze and the full size speaker gives it a full size amp sound. Also a few more fx and amps too, so if you can get a few more pennies together then why not treat yourself....
Wow. Thanks for doing these in depth demo's. I bought the Mustang III a week before I saw this video, and this video has helped me understand some of the functions that I have not even started using yet.
I'd love to suggest a demo if you have a chance. I'd love to hear you guys review the Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat and/or the Tele's that they are putting out. I bought the CV 60's because of how amazing it sounded through the Mustang, and am in love with my mustang and the Classic Vibe
@MrShredder666 - If you're talking about volume, I own the Mustang IV (150w stereo), and I have never had to turn the volume up past 4 at a gig. IT IS LOUD. I assume the 100w mustang 3 is pretty powerful as well, but I can personally confirm that the IV, with its dual Celestion Seventy-80s, is the loudest combo of its size that I have ever heard.
Very professional and informative presentation
@ravenshield56 I would say the Mustang would be a great choice as it would allow you to experience and learn to play with different sounds, effects pedals and with the usb features, its pretty future proof and will keep you experimenting and playing for years. The raw sound is also brilliant so as an overall step up from a little fizzy amp, you'll absolutely love it. xx
Super review ,no bull , no gimics , english spoken , not American slang, a nice guy no silly jokes and no silly rock star haircuts
explained really well just couldnt be better ...well done that man
I'm in the U.S., but Damon just sold another amp for Fender. I've been looking for an amp that would get me into the modeling realm, as well as into basic recording, but be large enough for the occasional jam. This amp meets my specs to a "T". Really, really good demo. A bit long, but it gave me the level of detail that facilitated my purchase decision.
Thanks Nevada Music, and thanks Damon. Great Job!
@Deluxeta Yes, sorry its a bit long, 34 mins is a record!! But there was so much good stuff to get through and we know you want to hear it in action !!
I've used a VT30 for quite a while now, and recently had a chance to play through the new VT40+ and the Fender Mustang III. Honestly? That new VT40 sux. I dunno what they've done to it, but it sounds nowhere near the previous generation. The Mustang I loved though, some amazing clean tones. Didnt have a chance to plug it to a computer to check all those additional settings, but it was pretty amazing even without it. Yeah, right now it's the best amp for the money, if you ask me. Cheers!
I Bought the Mustang III and loved it so much I bought the Mustang V also. I also own a Hot Rod Deluxe (and several other tube amps) and most of the Classic Vibe series which are amazing quality and value. Label snobs will tell you Squier CV and VM guitars and Mustang amps aren't as good as their big buck gear but they are delusional. Squier hit a homerun on the new Jazzmaster too, now my CV Tele is jealous. Thanks to Damon for the most informative and enjoyable demos on youtube.
Got my Mustang 3 this weekend, and it came witht he 2 button footswitch. Thanks for posting this in depth review on the amp and all of its functions. I will be Buying that 4 position footswitch now. It definitely adds functionality to the rig. The tone and volume from this little amp is amazing. I play using a Fender Telecaster Custom FMT HH with Gibson burstbuckers, and the amp provides everything I need to push the sound.
The other day I got the mustang III from my local music store. So far I am very impressed. Killer tone and easy operation. I will probably just use the presets. I don't get into the editing. There is enough on here to keep me busy for hours. I have the very first issued cyber twin. I think the mustang blows the cyber twin away. Well done Fender.
I commented on this 9 months ago, and you said you were thinking about making a video with this amp and a shoddy junker guitar to see if it would play beautifully. I said I would probably buy one of these if you made that vid and it worked out. Well I guess I have to eat my words because I have one coming in the mail and you never made that vid, but you did make it seem more impressive than most reviews, so good job! You won this time!
I heard a jazz instructor...(Rich Severson) use this Mustang 3 amp at a Texas Guitar show...and that's usually a huge room...tons of used guitars. He played a Gibson ES 175 through it, and there wasn't anything that was lacking. I was extremely impressed. (I use a Roland AC 100 Chorus amp) It had plenty of tone.
Like I said...Love that country deluxe COMPRESSED sound!!!!! Damon can we get a fender bassman COMPRESSED and clean Albert Lee sound!
Im a home player and I have the Fender mustang half-stack. Of course no one needs something that big for home use, but so what. I've always wanted a half stack, it's affordable, it sounds great and its just awesome. Just because it's that big doesn't mean it's going to send the roof off to neverland; I just don't turn the volume up that high.
Sounds like fun
Sounds absolutely killer!
Excellent demo, Damon. I have owned the III and the V. I am using the Fender Floor now because of the quality. I use a power amp and some combo amps with this pedal and it gives me exactly the sounds you displayed in this video. Good job.
@nkleined Many thanks for watching and enjoy the amp!!
Traded in my VOX AD50VT a couple of weeks ago and bought the Mustang III.
What a great amp!
With the extra 15% off for trading in my old gear and the $100 I got for the old amp I only paid $145 before taxes. A steal.
Versatile, easy to use, great FUSE software and the sound is killer.
Did you not like the Vox. I’m looking at that exact model. Anything wrong with it?
I was very sceptical about these amps, But I had a modeller for many years, It took me 2 years to really get used to it. I can say the Mustangs are even better!!! You can not go wrong at all! I got the 2 year coverage from Sam Ash also, for peace of mind!!! But the customization possibilities are more than I ever could imagine!
My main ax is a Rickenbacker 330. I've owned twin reverbs, AC30s, princetons, etc. If you are a rhythm player, the clean channels are great. I'll run a Strymon Big Sky and an MXR analog delay, and the results are spectacular. If you are curious about whether you should buy the Mustang 3 or 4, I would recommend the 3. Plenty loud, you can also go through the P.A. Cheers!
i don't know if you are the guy who plays the guitar in your video. if you are it sounds great (it's not a mustang though). you know, some people comment a lot but cannot play at all which makes all their comments misleading. so - thanks for your opinion.
Modelling has certainly improved but still sounds a bit thin. Increasing Low mids would fatten the sounds up a bit.
@ravenshield56 The mustang 1 and 2 are exactly the same except the watts and speaker size. The mustang 3 and 4 are also the exact same except for the size and watts. The mustang 1 and 2 do not have a led screen but they do have 8 models of amps with three modes on each. They all have the computer capabilities.
Just bought the Mustang III today. Went to plug in my trusty old Line 6 Pod, didn't need it. The amp modelling in the mustang is better. Awesome little practice amp.
yes it plugs in so you can share or download presets fender or other people made.
@flipside1974 We did a Classic Vibe video a year ago, but its not as good as our current ones.
Thanks for watching....
Hm i have mustang 1 v2 20wat, but i cant get rid of that noise it made when a play so is it depends on what cable i use? i did order a new cable, and right now I use a cheap cable
egget noob ,,, thats a good little amp, ,i made a speaker switch system, added a fender 12", cab, back of amp, is tricky, to take off, it is also glued!, sounds great
He was talking about Rob Chapman at 2:28! I just saw the Anderton's review as well. This is a smashing amplifier!
Wow this amp kicks ass!! I was gonna go for a line 6 spider but when I played my buddy's mustang 2 I just had to get the head and cab version.
There are amazing cleans on this amp!!!!! Thing is, they have the presets, Useless to me, But toward the end there are just basic amp models, There, you can make your own tones, So it is like having the 8 or so amps, Loving the deluxe and twin amps! Amazing tone!
That sounds amazing holy. Glad this will be my first serious amp.
Hi, well check out the new Mustang V2.0 video we've just done with Damon which explains all ! Click the link in the description .
If you have a link to a Mustang III (V.2), I'd appreciate seeing it: I could not locate it in the description :( Thanks!
Would that be the noise gate cutting in and juddering at the cut off point? Its there to cut off hiss for home users. You could try with it turned off so there is no 'fizz' or judder at the transition point. Could be just the factory default setting. I'll try it in store and see if I can work it out.
I bought 2 of these and im running them stereo through the gt 10 it is killer, I been tone searching for 6 years and could not find it. ive spent a small fortune on pedeals. I have a gt 10 boss pedal and im running the stereo through them, and theses sounds u here on this videio is a joke to the sound I have so just try it I think you will love it!!!!
Bruzz Boe he is a better speller than you though. Equilibrium restored.
DONE, when school ends, i am going to work my ass off to get this. So many positive reviews!
Preset 05 "country deluxe" with your h-s-s strat with the humbucker I can hear the compression. It is thinned out. I am using single coil pickups on a squier classic vibe strat and the tele. I am not getting the thinned out sound but a gain increase.
I LOVE MINE....The speaker sucked so i replaced with 100 watt CARVIN....waaaaaayyy better AND added a jack to plug in my 2 12 cab.....SO much FULLER...yep..
I picked up a used MustangIII recently... great practice amp. Super versatile
Does the footswitch allow you to control the 'tap tempo' (delay) in a live situation? I just read a review on MusicRadar (so called professionals) who wrote "Unfortunately, the footswitch doesn't offer Tap Tempo - you'll need to upgrade if you don't want to set it by hand".
Upgrade what?
Hi, I really like this amp from what I've seen on the video, but as I can see, the headphones jack is the same for the Line-out. If I need to plug this amp to a mixer, maybe at a live gig, will it work using that jack with a 1/8 to 1/4 adaptor cable? and will this output mute the speaker?
@telecasterbear I love it when it takes you like 2 weeks to go through all the settings of an amp, it means you dont get board over night, this amp is sick I am trading my flexwave halfstack in now
amp is just PERFECT for any deathcore, metalcore, have alot of fun messing around with the other functions too!
i went to a guitar shop (guitarguitar) and tried out the mustang with the bassman beside it, its amazing how close the sounds are
Sounds awsome for such a low price, i might get one! But will it sound good with my epiphone les paul standard pro ?
i got this amp yesterday along with a epiphone les paul plustop Pro/FX with a floyd rose and it sounds amazing!
Thanx for the detailed review of this fantastic amp. I got the Mustang II at home and I love it!
@sjoefather of course! i got the mustang 3, 100w and volume level 5 is already extremely loud^^ should fit for most local stages
@shortymike93 Pretty sure you can as the headphone out doubles as a line out and each amp also comes with "fuse" software which is made by fender, it's basically like in depth editing software for all your amp settings which connects via usb
Damon looks like he was blown away by the Squier Standard Strat...I concur, I have one , and the tone is spectacular...check them out when you are shopping.....poppa
Hey Damon... Im hooked on your demos..lol.. You always do a killer job.. I love those new Mustang amps.. gonna buy a Mustang III in the next week.. cant wait. Again..great job..
This is a freaking great demo. I think I'm getting one of these in a couple days, they're so awesome.
Plaease answer this question as soon as possible, does the footswitch(4button) always play those 3 quick acces sounds, or can you decide whitch preset it should have on each one?
Great video, very informative. I really like my Mustang V that I got a few months ago. The sounds that come out of this amp is amazing. So much to choose from. I wonder how long it's gonna take to hear all this amp can do, because I haven't even used the USB jack with the Fender Fuse DVD. Despite the large size, both the head and the 4/12" cabinet, are very light weight for my gigs. I don't miss my '65 Twin's weight at all. I would definitely recommend this amp.
It is also possible that you might be too close to the amp. Single coils do hum. I also have a humbucker equipped guitar. No hum with the humbuckers. I have this amp. Hope this helps.
@NevadaMusicUK Damon, great video on the functionality of this amp. Even though I have about a half dozen amps, I was looking at a 1X12 that's very loud & compact for practicing with my very loud band, plus all of the other features included. You sold me on this, I am ordering one today, Thanx again,
Patt.
@TheTBSTV Yeah, you can decide which sounds you like. It's all explained in the user manual when you buy the amp :)
jusy got my MIII, WOW! I have had Tube amps and modellers, And the technology is amazing, If you are not familiar with modellers, it will take time, BUT if you are, This is the amp. I am very happy with it, and the sounds are great, Using single, humbuckers and TV Jones Classic pups. WOW!
@Emeilio yep the soldano Marshall and the mesa amp models are great you can get some great metal tones if done right
Great looking guitar for sure! Just bought the Special HSS today...hope to play it enough to get that look... :-)
29:07, he is right. It was my first and still is my only guitar seven years and running. And I dare not sell it for my life. I tried playing ESPs, and Ibanez, and Jackson, and what not. It has THE smoothest and softest fingerboard ever and the best action. AND now I'm the proud owner of a Mustang III :)
I got this one, I don't know the peavy vyper 75 but if it ie better than the mustang III for the same price then the vyper is the bets amp ever, cause the mustang III is awesome.
@piller35801 yes. if it isn't on the disc that comes with it it's on fender.com.
insanely good price/performance, im so getting this amp !
yep your right I didnt notice it before but I bought the amp and I do love it
just got a mustang 1 i am so excited
where do you get all these riffs you play when you demo amps?
@fenderibo Really any amp is good for home use. If you are a beginner, you don't have to go all expensive and fancy though. I think the mustang III is a good choice though.
@SlashingRecovery18 yes thats what i use it for its pretty good for all that stuff
can you for us,
record it using the DIRECT OUT or the headphone jack like if you were to silent record???
Yes you can record that way. Nothing beats the sound of a speaker mic'd up though!
Can you run a compressor (stomp function) after the amp? That way you can have a dirty marshall sound & engage the stomp button in effects mode on the footswitch & get a volume boost for lead parts.
Is there a Fender Showman or Bandmaster amp model ? What does the Vox clean tone sound like ? Can it sound like Hank Marvin ?
Head into your nearest store and feel free to try them out. www.pmtonline.co.uk/stores/
Could you get an expression pedal hooked up to control the wah?
Yes
I have one now, Thanks for the great DEMO Damon
I've watched the video several times and dialled in the same presets, although on my Mustang iii V2 the numbers are different. Playing a Strat Plus my amp sounds nothing like the demo version. How's that (I know, I know it's all in the fingers) but why should they sound so different?
The sounds you hear on these videos are 'touched up' before being uploaded to youtube.
