This amp is a dream. I have had it for a few weeks and this thing SCREAMS. No need to crank it past 4 or 5 EVER. More importantly, there are an infinite number of real tones that you can dial up. AMAZING amp.

I am the sound guy for our band,, No one really talks about the stereo XLR outputs on the back of the Mustang III V2 ,, I found this to be the best way to have the same sound at every show ,, I don't mic my guitarist amp anymore ,, I use the stereo XLR outputs and put him on a stereo input on my PA mixing board ,, awesome consistent sound at every show we do,,, I never have to adjust the guitar amp mic again :) From a sound guys point of view,, I think this is Fenders best guitar amp ever ! ,
And it sounds amazing through my PA setup lots of big loud and massively amplified loud speakers and subs,,
I bet you could buy a couple powered/active PA speakers and direct connect them to the XLR output of this Mustang III V2 Stereo outputs if you want more sound or just want stereo sound out of it ,,,

I own a Mustang III, and have found that the best aspect of the amp is having the ability to customize one's own presets. The factory presets are all fine and good, but using this amp's "deep editing" capability to create your own truly places it well above other modeling combo amps.

I have owned a Mustang III and IV for a few years now. So I was curious to see your review of the III. Good review by the way. Well here's my input for everyone coming to this page. I LOVE THE MUSTANG AMPS!!!!!!! I love the whole idea of the III. It's small, compact, light and very LOUD!. It reminds me of the old Mesa Boogie combos built in the 70's that were the size of a lunchbox but were 100 watts and tube. I'm a hard rock and blues guitarist, so I like that overdrive and full sound you get with the gain on 10. Even tho the amp has 100 pre-sets and fuse software, I have chosen one amp "American 90" and learned to edit the sound with all of the options available and managed to get the perfect sound for me. FOR ME. I've gotten rid of all but two pedals, a cry baby and a TC Echobrain because it's easier to control echo's from a stomp box. The III is all you need in terms of volume for gigs in small clubs. I got the IV for bigger clubs which is 150 watts + 2 speakers. The IV sounds fuller/warmer than the III because of 2 speakers and larger cab for the sound to move around in. I take my III and sit in with some friends, one who owns a Mesa Boogie stack. And my Mustang III does very nicely in terms of sound quality and power vs his Boogie. The other beauty of it is that Mustangs have a jack in the back to connect to the PA in stereo. Also the Mustang IV is stereo without plugging in. I'm extremely happy with both amps and will probably not need another amp ever again. I'm computer illiterate, so I never used the Fuse software. I also sold my Marshall as I got/liked the sound out of the Fender more. For those buying this amp, Fender's customer support line is very good and very friendly. I call them a lot. I hope my input is helpful. By the way, the new GT100 is 14 pounds lighter than this III and the GT200 is 200 watts. There have been many complaints/problems with the iphone software and the new GT's. Most of those who bought the Mustang iii, IV, or V have foregone the GT models.

Tube tube tube.. I've spent enough money on tube amps in 30 years to buy a new top end car!! never ever again. I've two mustang lll one at rehearsal space and one at home. These amps are great veratile amps and as the guys point out react the way valve amps do. Just great tones. The Fender Amp models are killer.

I will be getting the FM-V soon! I tried this amp at Guitar Center yesterday and it just kicks ass! There isn't anything you could not play on this amp! Metal, country, blues, funk, alternative...you can dial in, save and go! This is the working guitarist's amp. No more pedals and that sort of headache! No more worrying about tubes. Just a cool amp capable of producing all the important tones a gigging guitarist needs. Rock ON!

I have the 3 and 5. it works perfect, I can dial in presets on my Mustang 3 at home at lower volumes, save it to my laptop with Fender's software and then upload it to my Mustang 5. it sounds identical just insanely louder. The 3 comes with a 2 button switch and the 5 comes with a 4 button switch and they can be plugged in together on both amps giving you 6 buttons to work with. I also have the Mustang expression pedal that you can assign to any effect, wah, volume, delay and vibrato speeds, distortion level, volume, basically you can assign it to any knob on the rig. Awesome setup for the price!

I have the V. And lemme say that it’s a beast. You can get nearly any tone you want. These guys were just covering the basics. I only use 4 or 5 presets, 1 of which I created as my main distortion tone. But the lead Communication preset is ready to go.

GREAT presentation. You should've also mention the cheap price of the Mustang III. I have a Mustang III, IV, and V. If I had to settle for one of the three, I would go with the III due to its lightness. The IV and V have a more beefy sound and are stereo. The III comes with the two button foot switch. I suggest everyone up grade to the four button switch.

I am by no means an expert on Guitar amps, however, I love my Mustang 3 so much I bought a second one! Now check this out... it weighs about 40 pounds, kicks out 100 watts and ya wanna know where I mostly used it at? In my semi truck! Yup, when I would leave out for the road, usually gone 3 or 4 weeks or longer at a time. I would load up my Les Paul, My acoustic, my laptop and mic so I could record and my Mustang 3 amp! I would sit the amp on my cooler between the two front seats, it barely fit lol, I would angle it so it wasn't blasting right at me as I sat on my bed and played for hours every single night. Of course the amp was only turned to about 1 and a half, my God anything over that and it might kill ya in that semi! I bought the Peavey Vyper and it was horrible! It was more expensive than the mustang but much more complicated to operate. No ability to download from others online and maybe I got a bad one but whenever I would turn it to one of the 4 bass guitar settings it was all muddy sounding. For anyone wanting a nice, affordable modeling amp, do yourself a favor and buy the Mustang! I would not suggest you get the 1 or 2 models, they don't have all the presets and abilities that the 3 and above have. Now that I am retiring from truck driving I am seriously considering that Mustang 4, maybe even the 5 - I didn't know they made a 5!! So, if you want a modeling amp - go to zzounds.com and order yourself one on their easy payment plan, dont worry if you have bad credit, you will be approved and in 2 days you will be jamming out.

I bought the Mustang II when it came out and it's all I really plug into anymore. It's easily the best modeling amp I've ever heard. It also quite easily sounds better than some of the smaller tube amps that have flooded the market in recent years. Fender's really hit a homerun with these, as far as I'm concerned.

Reply1>Bought my nephew a Mustang III used last December for the holidays and I brought it out to a few gigs with me to put it through the ringer. It actually functioned really well. I bought a 4 button footswitch and a dust cover for it as well. Depending on what you're using already, I can't say if I'd rebuild your rig around this amp, though. You could do a lot worse, that's for sure. This is definitely a step up from a Marshall MG or Line 6 Spider. It doesn't replace a real valve amp though.

Thank you so much for this video, it cleared up a lot about this Fender Mustang V that I bought. The manual was totally useless, they seem to care more about printing it in 7 languages than explaining even the basic operations., but I love this amp so much, it sounds incredible on stage. It was cheap to buy, and I find it so much easier to lug around despite the huge size. My Fender 65 Twin is damn heavy, even though it's 1/2 the size, and was almost 3 times the price too. I highly recommend the Mustang V, 100%.

Have the mustang 2*12 IV the stereo imaging is incredible as you play the thing. Each 12" speaker is a channel. The Mustang V is the half stack and the speaker is a two channel scenario. 2 12" speakers per channel. The algorithms for most presets are 3d and really put you in the sound field. I installed a 1/4" jack on the IV to allow an external 4*12 as the other channel on the mustang IV. You do get your money's worth.

I have a mustang III and I love it. It's loud enough to play with drums and another guitar. My only wish is that the controls would be on the front instead of the top. It would be easier to use if I didn't have to stand up every time I want to change anything. But all in all its a really nice amp and it's definitely worth it. Especially if the alternative is a 38 watt fender frontman.

I may vary well retire my Traynor YCV80Q (all valve)
You do forget it is not tube ... and what really sells it for me .. is the modelling is so nice, it allows for tube dynamics when you play. I can play soft and get a clean, dig a little more and get some grit .. or just smash and get the same killer tube feel as with my tube amp.
I also have to contend at times with a VERY HEAVY drummer. This has never gone past 5

I have the Mustang V and Mustang III and love the Versatility. With a bit of knob twisting you can get a surprisingly good Marshall and AC-30. I would buy the Mustang amp for the Fender Bassman presets alone.

to the ear, yes..but the response is different. Not hard to get used to. Most important, extremely versatile. Some of the presets are overdone, you'll want to dial them back, and soon you'll be deep editing. The online community swap patches. The software works great, and no more stomp boxes. It's not "pure" but it sure is practical when you cover a lot of different styles and sounds. I have a patch that's just for one RUSH song. I got the Mustang V V2 and wish I'd bought the matching cab at the time. I didn't think too far ahead. I got a cheaper one (that's what I could afford at the time). It can sound good with the amp, but I think (assume...) that the Fender cab would sound closer to, for example, the XLR or headphones out. Dialing up a tone for recording (direct - the main reason I wanted a modelling amp) is a bit different compared to dialing up a tone to jam loud with the cab.

@akshat2288 Use the fuse software and you can use all the additional amp models and effects that the III/IV/V use.

@chickabuka I suppose you could get close to that sort of thing, as it seems to do well emulating other tones.

I think I'm sold on getting a Fender Mustang of some kind :D

The Mustang III is better for vintage Fender presets like the Bassman because the G12T Hot 100 speaker in the combo has serious bass and good high end with slightly scooped mids. The Mustang V is better for playing high gain stuff. The Rocket 50 loaded cab is more mids than bass but does get a nice crunch (like a poor mans Greenback). If Fender had put (2) Rocket 50's and (2) G12t-100's in the 4x12 it would have been killer. I wish Fender made a cool 2x12 G12T-100 cab for the Mustang V head.

I think we are witnessing a total change of the amp industry, just suck it up! There will always be great tube (valve)...amps because we love them...but these new Fender mod amps are un believable....Thankyou Fender for seeing the future and acting on it.....poppa

I have the Mustang I (original) and I have to say that with any amp, the higher you crank it, the more force you're putting on the speaker. So it will sound different, but I doubt the tone will get worse.
If you pick some "pure" settings and let your stompboxes do the effects you can infinitely expand the Mustang I beyond it's capabilities and so I'm sure the Mustang III, IV, and V can do the same.
Not sure about your third question. Never played a Mustang amp with an effects loop.

I have one of these and i LOVE it! the only problem; The pinch harmonics sound bad to me. They're like...too low pitched sounding compared to when i use a distortion pedal and a clean channel

Great Amp. Gear snobs can snipe all they like but this amp is capable of a great deal and is as cheap as chips.

the first question is are you going to use it live then if so sennheiser 609 or 906 mic
it is discrete stereo left/ right get both foot switches for it so you can tap all tabs
watch the disc and the first marshall amp was a dimed fender bassman @45 watts@ 8 ohms driving jensen blue teardrop speakers

Normal cameras cannot support the high volumes of amps, and if you don't mic it, you will hear things like the pick hitting the strings, fingers sliding on the strings, etc. You also get a full range of sound.

Sounds great but to my ears it still sounds digital in this particular demo. It sounds like you've been already recorded, and you are now being reproduced in a loud home stereo system. That said the guy I jam with has one and it is extremely versatile and sounds at least 98% live. The stereo aspect really helps it in an actual live situation. It's width, live - makes up for the tiny bit of warmth the digital signal is missing.

No idea, both of them are digital modeling but blackstar kinda models "overall" tone and valves instead of specific amps like mustang. And it is newer but Fender just came out with upgraded Mustang V2

In another video about this amp (on another channel), the foot switch was supposed to come with the amp. On the early Mustang I (which I have), the foot switch was sold separate, but any generic single-button switch would work.

    Hi Rob! Little help needed...
Since it is very hard to find these amps in my city to try them out which one you recommend just purely soundwise - roland cube xl or fender mustang?
I am beginner guitarist, looking to play mainly some classic rock tunes, not really needing hundreds of sound presets(its not a minus;but rather would have few good ones than many mediocre ones).just need a modeling amp with good sound to practice and learn. Thanks in advance and all the best from Novi Sad,Serbia

@WilkoLeising Unless your room is the size of a small stadium, almost any halfstack will be WAY too loud, i would suggest one of the combo amps unless you have a band that regularly plays big venues

Johnny, how does it cut through when you play with a band? How are the crunch sounds like the Marshall settings? Do you use any outboard effects with it?

  • @daveugber
    @daveugber 11 лет назад

i have the M-IV...there is no doubt that this amp is loud enough to cut through a drumki, a bassist, a keyboardist and another guitarist or two... the two 12's are bone-crushing at 5 on the master...and the TONE isn't lost at higher levels, either...

@@AuntAlnico4 depends on the band I play. For my metal band I'm using a Hotone Ampero nowadays.
