    This toy is almost 90 years old and looks as if it had been buried in someone"s garage for many years. You have done a brilliant job to restore the vehicle to such a high standard. Congratulations! I Take My Hat Off to You - and a Thumbs Up from me!

      Thanks for the sign up, unfortunately I only have a small workshop wouldn’t have room for powder coat set up as much as I would like one, maybe need to extend the workshop, but for now it’ll have to be the rattle can.
      Cheers

    Very nice restoration but, I cannot believe that some of those tabs did not break on you. they looked so fragile. Great job!!!!!

    • @recollectable4258
      @recollectable4258  Год назад

      Thanks, Think I was lucky with the tabs,
      But after sandblasting the metal was quite solid but pitted, these old toys were made with quite a thick gauge metal.

    Your Bedford was made around 1938/9. This was the year that those wheels and tyres came out. There was only 100 sets made of 3” and 31/2 as on your tow truck. You are lucky in that they are in excellent condition normally the wheels rot out. I have a 1938/9 Bedford Tipper truck with the same wheels and tyres. Normally they are 2 discs with a thin rubber between them that were still used until 1957. They were red but if you was lucky you could get pale blue which were very rare.

      Thanks for the comment . Always appreciate a bit more information on any projects, with regards to the wheels they were in great condition after cleaning.
      Cheers

    It's a nice restoration, but the running boards/fenders would have been better in black.

      Thanks, I wanted to keep the restoration to the original paint job, However the cog and winding shaft were also painted red on the originals but I decided against this as I think they looked better silver.

    Im no expert but maybe a exhaust fan might work to pull the dust into a container to dispose of later...❓

      Thanks you’re right
      At the time of the video it was a closed cabinet . have since modified it with an external dust extractor

    Is there any Tonka model with some kind of a drive unit?

    • @recollectable4258
      @recollectable4258  Год назад

      Sure they did a moon buggy and some other smaller vehicles with friction drive unit in the 1970s, these were made in Japan and had a different look to the Tonka toys we all know, they were also smaller .
