Triang Minic Toys restoration of a rusty 1950s green-line bus.
My latest Restoration project of a 1950s vintage Triang Minic toys greenline bus in a rather scruffy and rusty condition, In this video the clockwork mechanism was not working due to a snapped spring, I was hoping to reuse the remainder of the spring but it turned out to be past it and had to be replaced. The rest of the project included making a new missing headlight for the front of the bus also new multi green paintwork for this detailed Tri-ang bus.
Another fun restoration project.

On this occasion I decided to only do a sympathetic restoration of this wonderful clockwork airship made by lehmann toys, this is the early model built from 1910 - 1941 it was still in working order but missing its fins and propellers, the box was torn and the lid was missing, so after a little work she was ready to fly again. #lehmann #clockwork #restoration

Mamod Flat base workshop build, The one Mamod never made.
Просмотров 8849 месяцев назад
Mamod / Malins never actually made a flat base worksop model for their early 1940s/50s live stationary steam engines, however in 1950 they did produced a flat base line shaft and separate accessories, these included a drop hammer and power press with brass flywheels, also a grinder and polishing tool. A raised base workshop was finally introduced in 1979 named the mamod WS1 this could be run fr...

Reconstruction of old Radio C batteries - ideal for your vintage Radio restoration.
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Год назад
More of a reconstruction and re stuff video than restoration, decided these attractive vintage 4.5 volt dry cell radio C batteries are far better for an old radio restoration and toy displays such as meccano and Gilbert erector electric motors, these date from the 1920s to 1960s. Brand were Eveready - songbird - Burgess - Buckingham and Sears Roebuck, as well as many others. I’m lucky enough to...

Restoration video of a 1935 tin plate toy breakdown truck, made by Triang / Lines Brothers. This is the early vintage pre war version of the truck Dating around 1935 with the full metal sheet chassis, later versions had circular or rectangular holes in the chassis or sometimes both, this was to save metal. This truck was in a rather rusted state and was restored with a few items around the work...

Two twin flywheel hot air Stirling engines, one vertical design, the other two horizontal. Running also in slow motion.
Running an unusual Hot Air / Stirling engine
Просмотров 927Год назад
Running of a what looks to be a DIY Hot air / Stirling engine. This is quite an unusual model built with a pivoting test tube and marbles to displace the heat. This took a while for me to get running. But with some adjustments to the test tube height and a small weight on the flywheel it finally started.

I grew up in Dorking in the late 70s / early 80s and I remember the green busses.
Great job, my grandkids are obsessed with bus toys, they would love that 😊
Ahh nice, Triang made some great bus toys.
Spring broke due to the rust remover..it took the temper out of the spring..
Thanks for the reply, that’s a lesson learnt
It's very similar to my grandad's primus from the 30s. He always carried it in his backpack with a tin of beans when he went mountain climbing. The last time he took it up Snowdon was in 2005, just a few months before he died
That’s some going 75 years service, bet modern equipment won’t last as long. Obviously you’re grandads old faithful
I had one of those as a child, spent many hours running it. It took a while to run in and run at maximum speed. Mine was the original with the green methylated spirit burner. Eventually the copper pipe connection to the cylinder plate broke.
Yes I know the model with the green meths burner, if you was to repair that pipe it would probably still run as good.

Thank you
Nice work! What adhesives are you using?
At 2.04 you can see the 2 screws holding the piston to flywheel plate - do y ou know what size they are as I need to get 2 replacement ones
Will have to come back to you on that can’t remember off the top of my head. Just checking you mean the green frame screws to the chrome cowl 5:20 ?
Thanks Rich.
7 BA!
Sure these are 6ba
Great job, as expected after seeing your other work. Do you know the size/thread of the smokebox to boiler screws? Cheers
Thanks for the comment. 6 Ba if I remember correctly Cheers Rich

Great vid,new subscriber here.
Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the sub.
Love the red color and the attention to detail shown by a good restorer.cant wait to see other restoration😊😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the comment 👍 next restoration is in progress.
they usually use some kind of finish on the boil to keep it from tarnishing real fast, not sure what it is though
The finish on the boilers was a very high temperature clear lacquer
huh, never seen these lil mamods before
The little Mamod MM1 was an early design first produced in 1940 and was slowly evolved until it was discontinued in 1977.
The holes in the base make it look like Meccano, but it was not Meccano. It could not easily be used with Meccano, because the holes were the wrong size and the wrong spacing for Meccano compatibility. Mamod do make a Meccano steam engine, but this wasn't it.
Never knew that. They were always sold as compatible with Meccano.
Such a Cool Toy .and Awesome Restoration 🫡
Thank you, would have made some kid very happy in 1930
So cool. I wonder if the cellulose blades were lighter than the plastic used in the restoration. I saw it sagged a little on the back end.
Thanks, May still consider making some cellulose blades don’t think the plastic ones I used were heavier just not as rigid.
@@recollectable4258 Yeah, I don't know. I am not someone to question the restorer. It is a beautiful restoration you performed.
Old fans: restorable, makes a nice breeze, and sound pleasant. New fans: not worth fixing, air quality is low, throw out when they start to squeak. Great job
You’re absolutely correct can’t beat the old ones. Many thanks.
That tank seemed ungrateful right to the end. Excellent job
It certainly was, Thanks for the comment
That is SO cool! Do you sell any of these battery replacers? I recently acquired a Silvertone Model 1919 farm radio, which requires batteries such as these for operation.
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!! Love this and now I want one!!! I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks for the comment and thumbs up, see these for sale on eBay if your looking for one. Cheers Rich
Absolutely love it, you are amazing. Well done 😀👍
Thank you so much 😀
Oh wow my family still has one of these done in red
These were built to last. Thanks Rich
Excellent job!
Many thanks
I am amazed at the condition of the boiler after all these years. Well done for taking the time and trouble to restore such a wonderful machine.
Thank you very much! The boiler was good they sometimes suffer de-zink a kind of brass rot.
AND, now I think about it, I had some power take off items too. I suspect my father bought to encourage our intellectual development. God Bless Him for having such vision in what would make a young boy tick. I grew up to become an Electronics Engineer and my younger brother a Mechanical Engineer. Thank you Dad.
Good man, encouraging you in the right direction through play. As it should be for kids 👍
How wonderful. I had one. No recollection of what happened to it. What a shame.
Mine from childhood also went missing. Believe it or not Mamod are still on the go .
Great job I love old trucks
Thanks
Very impressive restoration - particularly liked your inventiveness with the tracks construction.
Thank you after a little trial And error the tracks turned out good. Rich
A fabulous restoration ! Some interesting techniques you have used there - I would have never thought of using a syringe to paint the rear wheels ! They turned out great. It was good to see you fired the model afterwards & hope it didn’t damage the paintwork too much. Well done indeed.
Hi and thanks for the comment Decided to try the syringe for the wheels after struggling in the past with masking tape. Takes a little patience but I wouldn’t do them early sr1 wheels any other way now Cheers Rich
Beautiful restoration 😊
Thank you
This is the coolest thing I have seen in quite a while. Great Job, especially the tracks....just genius. I could watch that tank go over obstacles all day. Hey, I'm retired, what can I say. The body reminds me of the 3D metal models that I build with all the tabs and slots but, yours is on a much larger scale. I've done quite a few tanks also.
Great thanks a lot I’m glad you enjoyed the video, was going to do some more obstacles but decided the video was getting a bit long. Thanks for the comment and enjoy your retirement. Rich
as lagartas de silicone renderam o like e a inscrição!
This was one of the old-timer iron toys that I never found featured on the Chip channel. It's an old-timer combat tank that uses no treads. On 2nd thought, was it supposed to have combat tank treads? It's definitely not a combat tank of the future. 🍟 🍪 🍟
Hi yes this was originally made with rubber tracks but most have not survived. in fact I’ve only seen one or two with the original tracks, And you’re right they won’t be modelling future tanks on this design. Cheers
Excellent work in restoring this vintage toy especially with making new caterpillar tracks...I love how it even sounds like a tank with that wind up motor. 😎
Thanks very much for the visit, and yes the clockwork makes a nice noise.
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!! I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up

До чего странная штука
Many a strange toy in those days. But interesting to see now
@@recollectable4258 Это да. Танк на гусеницах, да ещё и самодвижущийся! Хотя если посмотреть на современные игрушки - гораздо больше всякого странного )
😊
Thanks
Th e tracks is what impressed me the most.
Thanks
what type of paint stripper did you use
Hi I used Nitromors the liquid one which I find better than the aerosol Cheers
LOVE the intro
Thanks enjoyed making the intro
it has a beautiful sound
Yeah nice sound would have been an amazing toy in the 1930s
@@recollectable4258 many overlook the sound of things but they find their way inside your brain and memory ;) they are part of the "magic"
