Very nice! Such a lovely project that could likely be done with material I already have on hand. I find the most tricky part is remembering which back flap overlaps the other when laying the pieces right side together., this tutorial gives clear tips on the layout, thanks 🙏 😊🧵🪡
Thank you Jen and her team for every video and helpful tips and tricks! I love all your videos! Easy to follow, right to the point and very enthusiastic 🤩! All your crafts are just superb and make excellent gifts! I get way to excited when there is new video and just wish to have the time for sewing only! 🧐
Thanks a lot for showing us how to apply appliqué, it’s a great idea! I made a few book cushions with the help of tutorials found on RUclips and they are good but with yours, we learn about the appliqués and that looks so cool! It makes a great gift! Buying the kit and the pattern make it sooooo simple! 🌸🌸
I am working on 2nd reading pillow and found it easier to mark the 18x18 inch piece by putting pen marks on fusible batting on back of this piece. Then I just follow the lines on the back...so much easier!
I don't keep the pillows on my outdoor furniture when not in use because of the bugs and birds. Every morning I juggle my cushion, journal and cuppa to get outside for my 15 minute dose of Vitamin D and sunshine. This video comes at a perfect time because my cushions are a bit shabby and need a make over, so adding the pocket and handle will make my life so much easier. I think it will be fun for guests to take their pillows out with the handles as well. Oh! I can slip their table setup of napkin and silverware in the pocket for easy transport. Thank you, these pockets are getting more useful by the minute! My mom could use her pocket to keep her knitting. 💖🌞🌵😷

Great tutorial. Do you think this would work well with cotton flannel? It’s the fabric thats soft on one side not the full flannel? It has no stretch. I suppose so.
@@ShabbyFabrics I made it last night and it did turn out beautifully. So soft and washes well. I have 3 to make and wanted to be sure. Thanks again for a great tutorial!

I notice you never prewash your fabrics, or if you do you don't ever say. I can see when quilting it's nice to have the material shrink a bit to get that puffy look but what about non quilting projects like this one? Is that because you are attaching some sort of fleece or interfacing to everything and that'll maintain it's shape and size? I'm kinda new to this and have heard some people swear by prewashing and others couldn't care less! I've asked others in the comments but have gotten only one reply who was pro prewash for every non quilted project. Citing, but not limited to, that the fusible adhesive may not stick well to fabric due to manufacturing chemicals and sizing. Your thoughts, please?
Hi Patrick - We choose to not prewash our fabrics prior to completing a project. Some folks do prefer to prewash, it just comes down to a personal preference. We also think the fabric works a bit better for our projects while it's still a bit stiff (we also use light spray starch, like Magic Sizing). It's a choice that is completely up to you! Hope this helps with your decision. 💖 -Michelle

Hi, is it necessary to add batting to the fabric ?
It’s not necessary- we used a fusible lining for fabric stabilization, but you don’t need a thick batting for this project. -Michelle
@@ShabbyFabrics ok thank you. i will try it.
Does regular cotton fabric work well for this?
Yes! We used 100% cotton fabric for this pillow! 💖 -Michelle
great idea, love it. What is the fabric ?
We're happy you like it! The fabric we used for this reading pillow is Camp Woodland by Riley Blake Designs. -Michelle
@@ShabbyFabrics thankyou and is it cotton
What size pillow form fits inside?
This project finishes to approximately 17" × 17". Hope this helps!! -Michelle
Why do you quilt stitch the front piece? Is this super necessary?
It's not necessary to quilt stitch the front pocket. We just wanted to add the fusible fleece for stability and the cute applique pieces. -Michelle
