    Is the wedding scene of Noctis and Luna real?

    I have always wondered why Regis said in the wedding scene, "Wayward my son may indeed be". I thought it was because Noctis was reluctant to be king. Now I realize that Noctis was " wayward " because he kept fumbling down the timelines and couldn't achieve the ending where he and Luna found happiness.
    mind blown.

      I wouldn’t read too much into the word wayward…
      It’s not in the Japanese version so I’m guessing it just how they decided to translate it
      In Japanese it’s 頼りない meaning unreliable which is a common adjective we use to those who we worry about which makes sense coming from Regis

  • @kkocicakk
    @kkocicakk 7 лет назад +81

    So, the Omen trailer is alternate reality? And Regis didn't want that version to happen, so we got a new one, the one we play in XV? and also, that wedding at the end is from another atlernate reality, where everything happened how it was supposed to?
    I must say, this theory is very interesting. I like this idea. These theories are becoming better that the game itself. Soon it will be better to just watch all the videos about these theories instead of playing the game.

    • @kkocicakk
      @kkocicakk 7 лет назад +3

      Also, it makes the actual story in the game slowly smaller and shallower a more dumbed down.

    • @cloudnomad7758
      @cloudnomad7758 7 лет назад +4

      KočičáK I feel like the omen trailer showed what originally would've happened the first time around with noctis alone as pez pointed out an possibly that the first scene of the game where you see them encountering ifrit, was the most recent attempt an also where they met their most recent end. than it just reverses back to them pushing the car so they can try again

    • @sinofson1054
      @sinofson1054 7 лет назад

      KočičáK regis look at every alternate time loop,lets say there is 99 different time loop, all 99 time loop noctis become evil, so Regis create his own time loop and make sure to change noctis future (the one we are playing) but it fail like the way Regis want to be, he keep repeat the loop over and over (like the one we are playing) until the last scene, Regis get the future they want to be, they all got their happy ever after.

    • @kkocicakk
      @kkocicakk 7 лет назад

      That what I understand from it as well. It's a good theory, very likely.

    • @sinofson1054
      @sinofson1054 7 лет назад

      KočičáK ya, I just wish the story in the game itself was longer and deeper so we can understand what actually happen etc. But my guess is their team dont have enough time since they got a contract when this game should be released, they are rushing, and leave us hanging, but this world have people that are too smart and sharp to make the theory solid.

  • @ManuelKoegler
    @ManuelKoegler 7 лет назад +248

    Don't get me wrong Pez, I definitely liked the game, and appreciate the enthusiasm we share for it, but at the end of the day, it would have helped if some of that story "hidden beneath surface" was brought above said surface and actually told. This isn't Dark Souls/Bloodborne we're talking about, FF XV could have definitely used better story telling.

      i agree in the theory but why we have to play the most boring timeline first before the great and dark vs13 ;(
      and so much of the story is just out of the game.

    • @ManuelKoegler
      @ManuelKoegler 7 лет назад +11

      Brian MacLeod because him having an opinion on how the story was represented means I can't share mine, right? So I must not have watched his videos as a result, logic.
      They screwed up the story telling, simple as that. They don't become better storytellers through the community having to figure things out and or theorize over the course of a few months about what is and isn't because they couldn't tell the story themselves in a clear manner.

    This is interesting to think about, especially since rumor has it that all the new cut scenes are going to only be added into the New Game +. So one plays through the game the way it was released, then replay the game on NG+ with all the new cut scenes. It would be amazing if this theory is true and through the NG+ updates, they add in different endings until the true ending is revealed...

    Amazing theory. I always thought the wedding scene was more than just an afterlife event because why would they show the beginning scene again? It made no sense to show that scene at the end unless they were talking about a time loop. I agree with this.
    I said in another video that I like it when games make you search for the lore in some capacity, but I think some of these theory videos should have been explained in the game. @@steves578 Honestly despite my love for XV I'm glad the new story never made it into official game canon. It completely removed the potency of the original ending and its message for the sake of crowbarring in a generic "friends unite and kill god" story. Noctis sacrifices nothing, Ardyn is forgiven of all his sins, and the original ending is robbed of its emotional weight.
      It's a story so bad it forces me to be happy that a game I love didn't receive new narrative content.

    Fantastic video and well analyzed...however, there is no way that square enix would go through all that trouble to implement such a complex story concept and leave it completely unexplained and just minor trails of bread crumbs to the point where 99% of the population wouldn't even hint towards any of those possibilities. No chance, not with everything they have invested over the last decade into this game. Love the theory tho, i gotta give it to you, the theories are 10x better then the game is lol

    • @FinalFantasyPeasant
      @FinalFantasyPeasant  7 лет назад +26

      you say that and yet the story of Ifrit and Eos is nigh on irrefutable at this point. Even staff at square enix have acknowledged it. The rock of ravatogh and the tale pitioss was telling is exceptionally obscure and yet there it is.
      Tabata even said the game would be 'simplistically presented' but with a wealth of depth behind it for people to explore. Seems he wasn't shtting us.
      And even if time constraints meant huge portions of the story could not have been told. The odds they buried it in obscurity rather than not at all is even higher. I know it's hard to believe so much hidden story would be in the game and yet, it is there! XD

    • @LakrimaProject
      @LakrimaProject 7 лет назад +7

      I agree, it is serching too deep, it is cool to theoritize, also it makes FFXV content on YT. But can you really belive in all that bullshit? S-E could hint some stuff but it is too much, they would not risk bad salles of what apear as bad plot just to hide most of it for theory fans. That would be dumb. You can discover old map written on a tree deep in the woods and connect it to stars on the sky, but I will be able to find public toliets in my city that also cover the same stars placement. You see what you want to see (and there is nothing like that in FFXV) or development of this game was a huge mistake and S-E shot their foot with ridiculus plot (if it is someway true).

    • @Joe1744
      @Joe1744 7 лет назад +10

      I get what your saying ... but sadly i feel that these kinds of theories are simply people trying to compensate for a pretty lousey story. Everything we saw in the game is exactly what there was, nothing more. All this stuff about the rock of ravatough and ifrit & eos are all coincedence. IF SE are saying that it was there plan to leave it cryptic, i call 100% bullshit and they are simply taking advantage of what people like you who have an imagination and can look outside the box to find clues and analyze the structure of a story and environment. It's very easy for them to turn around and say "ohh yeah thats exactly what we planned" when others have come up with the ideas lol sure they will take credit for it to mask the fact that this game as it is...was a horrible failure. All their efforts to make it look and sound pleasing are just a result of scrambling and "getting their asses out of trouble" And i say that with a heavy heart as i live and breathe final fantasy, it is one of my greatest joys in life aside from my family, travelling and the new england patriots lol (time to get burned now XD) This entire project (soon as it changed from versus 13 to ff15) has been all about western sell out. They definately wouldnt risk making it cryptic and chassing hyroglyphics to weed out the storyline into something worthy of a final fantasy name. And that is from a business perspective. you dont invest millions in hollywood actors and commercialization to leave MAJOR elements like these out of the game, its just stupidity at that point.

    And third, a lot of Stella's design was turned into Ravus. The way she lifts the rapier in one of the early Versus trailers is exactly how Ravus threatens Noctis at the Imperial base. There's even concept art of Ravus looking over his shoulder in a similar pose, with a similar expression as Stella. I think Stella was divided and molded into the Nox Fleuret siblings.

    Why is Ardyn inside the crystal in the Regis's time control theory? The only one who can be inside the cristal alive is Noct, because he is the chosen king, and unharmed by the light. The other ones we see inside the crystal are already dead (Regis, Luna and the Bros). But when Regis is talking to the crystal, it could not be Ardyn there, because he is still alive when that happen. The other person we know is inside the Crystal is Bahamut, for reasons unknown, because he showed up to Noct inside the crystal and outside the crystal as a Summon.
    It seems that Regis does know who is the person inside the crystal, because it seem that they have talk before. Also, the first time we see Ardyn talking to Regis is in Kingsglaive, and they haven't get along with each other.
    So...
    Is it possible that:
    1. Bahamut gave Regis the Omen, because if they know Noctis is the chosen, they also know the future and what must be done to avoid Noct failing. I don't think that make much sense because the other astrals seems to accept Bahamut's positions about Noct (except Leviathan, but in the end, she also agrees in helping Noct) and the time paralels would not be a problem, because it would lead to the correct ending, so the time paralels would not be a sin in their eyes.
    2. The theory that the crystal is Eos's heart makes more sense to me. If Ifrit saved Eos's heart (the part that burned and remain good) maybe a part of Eos still live inside the Crystal, the good one. So is it possible that Eos herself gave Regis the Omen and the power he needed to cheat time and end once for all with the star scourge that she spread?
    Remember the crystal says "I have seen many deaths, but now I'm only looking forward to one, and then I CAN REST" I mean, if that is her talking, looks like she is tired of see people dying because of her, now she only wants Noct to die, because he has a pure heart and can purify the crystal. After that Regis says that Noct will take the responsibility for himself, because that is just like him (as we see in the Iris and Noct scenes in Brotherhood), and then the Crystal says: "As must we all". So that makes sense because Eos can feel guilty that everything is happening is her fault, and Regis will also have to take the responsibility, because he is going to associate with Eos and do time tricks to make sure that everything will be alright.
    But remember that the Crystal says: "THEN I CAN REST"
    Who is the person resting at the previous logo? (before they change to Luna and Noct)
    Of course, is One Winged Angel: EOS.
    I know that sounds crazy and stuff (and I wrote too much), but in my mind, this makes more sense then being Ardyn or Bahamut.

    I'm not super sure Umbra counts as legit "time travel" as it's described as "revisiting past memories" THOUGH Considering the whole thing (universe) could be a creation dreamt up by Eos (and her children inheriting a part of this power) Umbra allows you to day*dream*, thus going into another reality that takes place earlier in the story.
    And I'm sure if it's a legit cycle or more like time is not linear. The best analogy I can think of is Xenoblade's: The difference between a mortal and a god is how they perceive time and fate. It's linear for mortal, but gods exist outside of Creation and can see the entirety of Time all at once and see the changes caused by their actions on the future in real time.
    So for XV, everything happened once but everyone related to Eos' powers can see Time from the outside and manipulate the outcome or create diverging paths/ pockets of time or freeze it.
    I also wonder if it truly was the Starscourge that killed Eos, and not being woken up. Was the Scourge even bad for her? Light and Starscourge are awefully similar.

    I was watching when I thought maybe the pit of eos dungeoun is to represent the time paradox thing. because in it if you die from the spikes, that should have killed you. you don't you just telaport to a start/check point and restart until you succeed and live. thus you are given the black hood. the restarting mechanic could symbolise the time paradox system. added that you are trapped in until you succeed and not die.

  • @alfanzarkasih7085
    @alfanzarkasih7085 7 лет назад +1

    I think it is a time loop but only one time, so the noctis in the end weeding scene is the same noctis that going trough all the things in ff xv game. so Regis create one time loop within ring of lucii (spell or curse?) before he died so his son can be the true king and break the star scourge curse and save the world. Noctis going trough all the ordeal and when the ring of lucii destroyed it break the time continuity and make noctis going back to the first scene when he is pushing car in duscae but with all the wisdom and knowledge to save Luna and the world this time. Regis done this because he know if noctis defeat ardyn without proper wisdom he will become demon itself because of the overwhelming power (like ardyn before) like the omen trailer so with his last power regis create one time loop instead give all his power to help noctis defeat ardyn. so im playing the game with this state of mind, regis love his son very much and he believes given a chance noctis from a spoily brat will become one true king and save eos if he experience all the things in the game, how he know it, because regis took almost same path when he was young, going on road trip with his bro including cid make him realize his place to become king of the people. thats why noctis can defeat ardyn without waiting 10 years this time, so the throne still destroyed but now Luna survive and the world is celebrating their new king and savior of eos. For me that is ff xv story.

    I enjoyed this theory. King Regis is definitely one of my favorite characters and this just shows how much of an amazing father he is. It's clear that FFXV has a lot of unanswered questions and they did say that you can interrupt the ending anyway you want to. So the fact that they can't even confirm what happened in the ending shows that something didn't happen the way it was supposed to. This is the only theory I can see explaining why you hear the car dialogue at the end, just showing that time reset.

    Hmmm an interesting theory, I can't say im fully convinced of it as of yet, I certainly need to have a readthrough Perona's post. I am looking forward to the upcoming theory videos.
    Regardless of whether there is deeper story here or not, veterans of the franchise could agree that the mainline story was lacking a bit, perhaps due to us hyping it up. However it is a great game and it certainly achieved its goal that SE wanted. To bring a new generation and fresh gamers into the franchise, as seen with the amoun t of sales and interest in the game. The amount of people I have seen saying XV is their first FF and they want to know which one they should play next is astounding.

      It's not fair to have to dig through outside sources or literally research a game to know its backstory. If this theory is true, it needed to be more clear, or at least more blatantly hinted at.

  • @chaddumas2914

    I'm not sold on the Regis time loop, and this is why. FFXV is about a paradigm of cyclical consequences and reestablishing balance in the world of Eos. Whether that be of gods, gods/humankind, or humans. The vision of the gods is paramount in Eos with Ifrit's disconnect being the catalyst. To them, the star-scourge and humans are means to an end (with the exception of Shiva). You hear this in Leviathans words and tone to Yunafreya after she summoned her; it was only after Lunafreya's testimony of Noctis to Titan and Ramuh that he was even considered. Noctis accent was not a "Kingly" one, but a Divine. He was never groomed for the task of being King (as Regis was), nor, shown the means to control the Crystals power. Noctis path was wayward...not that Regis did not have an idea what was in store for him...but he did not know how to lead him on this path. Why? Because it was a divine one, not one orchestrated by mankind. If Regis messed with the fabric of time (which I think Umbra was a divine gift to Noctis to re-visit PAST events) he would be in fact messing with the divine plan to rectify the in balance of Eos, and in turn, be an obstacle for Noctis, not a guide. It would be completely selfish of Regis to do this...and it would not be for Noctis, but himself. Regis first duty was to be King, and that is what he did. As the Gladio/Ignus told Noctis...being King is about making a decision and not looking back (taking responsibility). Is this not a shared value between Father and Son?

    THEORY WEEK?!?!? Oh goodness it's like Christmas all over again!!! ^_^
    Ugh all the possibilities...a truly happy ending for our heroes. And the speculation about Noctis and Luna spending time together in Altissia?? PEZ YOU'RE KILLING ME. I NEED IT NOW. That and time together in the World of Versus theory DLC. Gosh, all the possibilities.... It kind of sucks that we have to resort to DLC to feel a better sense of completion in terms of the story. I mean, it gives me a reason to come back to the game, however I only wish that they'd had the time to tell this story. A cohesive narrative. There's no way that all of this is wrong. Your points and speculations have validity. Da proof is in da pudding, my dear Pez. I think your points are strong, whilst fighting my bias in wanting it to be true.

    Pez, I think you're def on to something with this theory. It took me all this time to start the NG+ and I was very particular about the items I needed to re-acquire on the 2nd play through. I haven't been reading up on NG+ so pardon the "known" info; this may serve as a spoiler warning to some.
    I found it odd that the NG+ ch 1 starts off with the boys pushing the Regalia in their Kingslglaive outfits. Odder still, the only weapon Noct had equipped (by default) was the The Sword of The Father, which you don't get until ch 13. I expected to lose Key/story-related items but I was pleasantly surprised that the weapons I acquired from the bonus dungeons were still there, and the Armiger skill was also still there. Well, we could argue that Square just got lazy and decided to just let you carry over most things in NG+ but really, the Kingsglaive outfits in a cut-scene in ch 1?
    I'm still thinking about the Dream Egg item. Not so random thought, this reminded me of a similar item from Chrono Cross: Time Egg. I'd like to think this item would be of use before or by the time we get the last DLC but we'll see.

    17:53 the use of the word "cycle" brought me back to the Fabula Nova Crystallis "shared mythology" (you'll have to read it on wikipedia). The term Versus was used as a theme of going against one's own fate. It would mean even when it was still Versus XIII, it was Regis who was going against "Fate" and challenging how things would happen. This video is amazing, gives me a reason to play through the game again just to see these nuances(But I'll have to watch your previous lore video, and future one, too!!). So, if Stella is Noctis and Luna's daughter, then just like the events of FFX-2 happened after the events of FFX, an FFXV-2 could be Stella's story. (Just saying'). (And then Noctis would be in Regis' shoes, how great of a story would that be!?!). A lot of the world of FFXV could be explored then that wasn't seen in FFXV(along with new characters, good and bad, places to visit, etc.)
    Stella would be a "new character" with her own story and ..."Sisters." (And supporting cast). Would Stella be the daughter of the Oracle, and what would that mean? (Although, many FF titles have commoners(non-royalty) common folk as their protagonists, so an FFXV-2 could have you playing as one of Stella's companions as the main character, or have it be possible to switch between characters. (Then again, if Stella isn't in the DLC this theory is nothing. But a FFXV-2 could be set in the world of FFXV with new characters.) And for an FFXV-2, at the end of FFXV, it doesn't show what happens with the war between Niflheim and Lucis. The Scret DLC may show some of that, especially with its alternate timeline. (And as it's suggested, some sort of battle was still waged in Insomnia before Noctis and Luna live their happily ever after.) Your videos are amazing, Pez!!!

Noctis kills Ardyn, time loops (only once as I saw it, though) and with him removed things go differently and they survive, marry and Noct is king... and then I read stuff online and everyone was talking about that scene being the afterlife and I was wondering if I was the only one who had interpreted it this way...

    Infinite time loops might explain why Noct always has his powers even when stuff happens to the crystal other than the ability simply being passed down to him, that he's the chosen one, and he doesn't need the ring to do it. There was the whole thing about Ardyn not getting the power of the crystal, and it going to his brother. Ardyn calls himself a chosen one... we don't know if that's for sure or if he always had his armigier powers etc. In Kingsgliave they lost their powers when the king died, but they needed him wearing the ring to use the powers they got.. from the crystal???... so one would think for Noctis it's either automatically inherited or there is some BS going on. Teleporting was def a power they borrowed...

    I think this is spot on. Also why I don't think their wedding is in the afterlife is because "they're in a special realm due to their deal with the Gods" which is the excuse used when people try and use this as evidence that his friends are dead or aren't as they couldn't be in this realm because they didn't have deals with the gods BUT Regis did so he should be here at the wedding if it's in the afterlife.

    To add to the time travel theory..... this is just a nod to the time traveling if you will. When you unlock the flying regalia, the gang makes puns about flying. However, Noctis says a line from the beloved movie "back to the future". He says, "where we're going... we don't need any roads."

  • @Jack_Mercer
    @Jack_Mercer 6 лет назад

    I know I'm late but... This might be True. Why? Because thanks to the glitch that lets you play as older party, I found some additional quotes between the bros. This either was left there even though the original idea of bringing back Regalia and open world after Noctis' return or after Episode Ignis' 2nd ending was scrapped... Or Square Enix has more plans for the DLC with those quotes. Some of the quotes make me think that it happens after Episode Ignis' 2nd ending, when I wanted to drive the Regalia manually, Noctis (as him old self) said this:
    Noctis: Brings back the old memories.
    Ignis: Indeed.
    Or this:
    Ignis: Try not to destroy her.
    Noctis: Don't worry, she'll be the same as on the day the father gave her to me.
    I might screwed up with the lines a bit, but this is as close as I can to remember those lines. Really mindblowing.

    Ardyn DID NOT have powers to stop time and space... He just made ILLUSIONS in Noctis head.. because he is crazy and likes to make him suffer*grrrr, bad man* Carbuncle is a messenger in dreams and all to protect Noct from the evil...
    Regis speech WAS an internal reflexion about His own Sin: How truly believe there would have been another way to save the world without sacrificing his own family *which is the only thing he loves more than his kingdom and duty*... His real speech in omen would say "I don't care, my son has to be safe and sound, and deserve happiness with Luna and for that, I'm going to sacrifice my people and I feel like shit for it"
    Eos is supposed to be our real world with supernatural beings and all (even magic is from nature elements) so time &space stays normally.
    I understand people wants to get fun and we are so eager to unleash our imagination due to how the cut was the story, but never to the point to forget the basics and evolving the story in AU itself

    Really interesting theory. I want to believe that Ardyn is actually not as bad of a guy as he might have appeared. Regis controlling time with the power of the crystal is also fascinating.
