The first time i seen her death in rebirth i didnt feel much emotion due to confusion and information overload, but I found the more i let it Marinade in my head the the more time I rewatch it it gets sadder and sadder, kind of like when u looser a close person in real life at first u are in a state of shock until eventually you break down and grief

I think you should watch the Loveless play with Aerith as Rosa as it heavy foreshadows the ending of Rebirth and maybe gives some insight on what might happen with her storyline.
It's almost a totally different game if you have Aerith as a date story wise-this whole game leads up to her death. Of course it would make the most sense to have her date for cohesiveness of the story, it's her send off- this is HER major part in the game. I hate how Tifa stans just don't want Aerith to have anything that she wants and make it seem like her feelings just do not matter-shes bout to die. Just let her have a sliver of happiness before she tries to save the world ffs. Tifa's moment to shine will be in the next game, they still have all that to look forward to. Aerith fans get a little bit of her in the limelight in the second game and then she's gone.

@@Storm1Trooper5 Also if you take one of the dudes as the date Rosa defaults to Aerith, I think they wanted players to see the play with her as Rosa as it’s actually relevant to the plot. The ending of Loveless is basically the ending of Rebirth.

Didn't realise how much they spoiled in that last one! - I gotta admit, it was fun watching the fight carry on with pez healing, but it just isn't the same without the struggle. Glad he tried a no heal round on one of the matches!

No they aren’t. It the difference between the high affection and the low affection 💀 in high affection Cloud makes it clear that he wants more dates and aerith says “I’m glad I got to hear clouds feelings” you guys act as if the game ends there too. The last two hours makes it clear how much the two mean to each other, and even if Aerith was confused on whether she liked or loved Cloud doesn’t matter because in Nojima’s novel, on the way to a smile, case of lifestream white, Aerith calls Cloud her lover. In Japanese it says “Cloud was her friend, her lover. He represented something precious, and existence she wished to protect” In English it says “Cloud was the girls friend. More than a friend for she had loved him.”

She’s battling her emotions “They say that with new love you forget the old one. Is this okay? My heart kind of hurts” Nothing new. And no it doesn’t cancel out on the way to a smile, it’s part of the canon, it’s just doesn’t fit your Headcanon, the only thing that’s been retconned is WHEN Aerith realizes she really does like Cloud
@thehatlessduck2670 lol, you can claim that if you like, but something tells me the devs have hammered the final nail in the claerith ship 😅 If the 'love' word isn't exchanged between them during these games, then the devs probably don't want players to think of them as such, meaning that Nojima's novel is effectively retconned.

Not only that but his love and deep desire to save her literally created another world and I believe that’s what she wanted to avoid. Mind you that is the ONLY time the word love has ever been used in the whole franchise. So cope I guess?
Pausing at the end of the dream date! I'm very curious how pez will interpret its symbolism because I see people reading it very differently. Some see it as a sign that date cannot be changed, while others see it as not being locked into existing options. I thought the date was sweet and sad, yet also unsettling because of how "at peace" everyone in that world was. They spoke like people who had accepted their death. And of course, Cloud picked up that Aerith was overcompensating her excitement to hide her own sadness. So many layers in this scene, SE did it very well.
I've seen too many comments saying Cloud is just crazy schizo at the end, imagining Aerith because he doesn't want to accept that she died. I don't think that's right at all, This Cloud is at peace and he's just able to see her and communicate with her. We know she's really there in spirit because even Red senses her presence. The part where Tifa sees reality fracturing before her is interesting, I'm still not sure what to make of it. Some say she's seeing two realities playing out in real time, one where Aerith survives (no blood), and one where she's dead and there's a big pool of blood. Others say she always dies here in every world, she just dies differently. Others think that Cloud actually saved Aerith in Rebirth timeline but we are transported to a timeline where she dies. Cloud visibly stops Sephiroth, then there's a visual glitch before the blood appears that leaves room to different interpretations. There's so much to think about. 😂 I agree though, despite small changes here and there the game and the ending was pretty good overall. Obviously there was a part of me that was hoping for wild and big changes to the story, but I'm ok with this too. Anyway congrats on finally beating it. :) I'm looking forward to your next videos breaking down the ending.
I think you've misunderstood it all. Cloud is refusing to accept it, but it's not only in his imagination. Sephiroth even tells him you'll never see the truth with clouded eyes. The rainbow effect shows the 2 different worlds, tifa isn't seeing 2 aeriths, its going between what cloud is seeing, and what every1 else is seeing. It's just showing tifas emotions after seeing aerith has passed away. It's pretty simple. Cloud never deflected the sword, that was all in his head. When the rainbow dissipates, you see the sword at a different angle, pierced through aeriths stomach with blood leaking from her. Just like in og, sephiroth pulls the sword out and smiles. Cloud is refusing to accept aeirths death, but she isn't just in his head. It's more than likely omni aerith there since she already tells him she has a plan to stop sephiroth, and not to worry about him. Cloud needs to get his shit together on his own. Aerith can't just say: hey, this isn't real btw! Cloud needs to figure that out himself
@@CAeuJohno123 I think you're half there. When Cloud went through the wall of Whispers he entered another world. He saved Aerith in that world, but not in the main party's world. Cloud can see across worlds because he's been to other worlds, and/or possibly because Aerith gave him the clear White Materia and it's been tangled across worlds. The rest of the party can only see Aerith as dead, whereas because Cloud can see across worlds he ironically can't see that Aerith is dead in his world. However, because he saved Aerith in the other world, she was able to figure out how Sephiroth traveled between and manipulated worlds and was able to do so herself to reunite with Cloud and fight Sephiroth in the final battle. That's why he says "I must admit, I underestimated you" to Aerith: he was expecting an easy win since he trapped Aerith alive in another world and he wasn't expecting Aerith to be able to do what he does and manipulate worlds in the party's favor. The Aerith at the end IS the omni-Aerith but she has Sephiroth's ability to manipulate worlds because Cloud saved her in the alternate world. However, Cloud is indeed just seeing things in his own world and is refusing to accept Aerith's death, because he can't recognize that A Aerith is still alive but the Aerith in his world isn't. Of course, this is my theory so I could be wrong, but I think this is what makes the most sense. It really doesn't make sense that Cloud never deflected the blade and it was all in his head because it showed the rainbow that denotes the creation of an alternate world. In every other situation in the game where that rainbow shows up it means the creation of another world, so it would be really weird and manipulative on the writers' part to show the rainbow when Cloud deflects the blade but then not mean that another world was created. Furthermore, it wouldn't make sense that Aerith would thank Cloud for doing what he did at the start of the final battle since aside from fighting Sephiroth, which he would have done anyway, Cloud didn't do anything other than throw off Sephiroth's control and deflect his blade. Still, I'm not on the Remake team and I could be taking this the wrong way. I don't think I am but I certainly could be.
I think Cloud clearly sees Aerith. But that conversation at the end doesn’t check out at all. Like half an hour before: Aerith: leave Sephiroth to me Now Aerith: ill leave Sephiroth to you 🤔
@@thatstheway2429 Aerith was alive in the "main" world before and now she's not. I think 100% for sure Aerith is going to be fighting Sephiroth on the front lines of the Lifestream and other worlds, but at this point Aerith has a limited sphere of influence on the land of the living in the "main" world. I don't disagree that the two statements are weird together, but I don't think they're contradictory either.
Ithink at the very end the Aerith we see is not the real Aerith. To me feels like it’s Jenova pretending to be Aerith. Remember in the temple of the ancients where they talked about how Jenova could take the face of friends and pretend to be them, I feel that is what is happening. Also remember in the forgotten forest Aerith said that she will handle sephiroth. At the end of the game Cloud said he’ll handle sephiroth but that is not what the real Arieth wants. This is why I believe the Aerith at the end of the game is Jenova pretending to be Aerith.
I don't think it's that because every other time we see Jenova do something like that, it's always a Sephiroth Clone whom she's using as the locus of the illusion. That's exactly what's going on with Glenn in the final Rufus cutscene: Jenova is using a clone to take the form of someone from Rufus's past so that she can manipulate him into focusing on the Wutai War instead of the real trouble with Sephiroth. We see the same things happening in Remake with Cloud seeing Sephiroth, such as in the cutscene where he sees Sephiroth but it's actually the clone Marco. In the final cutscenes with Aerith, though, there is no Sephiroth Clone; Cloud sees her but nobody else does. Because of that I don't think it could be Jenova. It could definitely be Cloud hallucinating or being made to see things by Sephiroth (though I don't think it's that either), but I don't think it makes sense from what the Remake games have set up with Jenova's power set that final cutscene Aerith could be Jenova.

Also when you compare what Aerith is saying in the Forest of the Ancient, that Cloud should focus on himself and leave the Sephiroth to her and at the end of the game, when she get's excited, that Cloud is going to stop him

I have one question for you about Rufus last scene.you know cloud can see the glitchs because he had jenova cells in him and Tifa saw the glitchs just one time during aerith death because she fall into the life stream in Gongaga and Rufus can see it with Glenn and sephiroth. so my question how can Rufus see the glitchs ? I think you’re right. Jenova is the one that brought in Glenn. But I’m one who thinks Jenova is in control of everything, including sephiroth. When sephiroth is talking I just assume it’s Jenova.

Alot of people are overthinking the ending alot, when its quite simple. Rainbows have something to do with people not accepting the truth. It's not people being teleported to different wolrds on the fly, thats for sure 😂 The rebirth world is the main world still... when we see rainbows, it seems like that its indicating a breach within destiny, when people refuse to accept fate. Cloud is refusing to accept aeriths death to the point that he thinks he deflected sephiroths sword and saved her. He didn't. When the rainbow dissipates, masamune is at a different angle, stuck in a different part of the ground. The blood we see, is leaking out of aeriths stomach. Sephiroth pulls the sword out of her, and smiles at cloud just like in the OG When sephiroth found aeirth in her "dream" (the lifestream,) he did something that merged her dream world with clouds "dream world" he didn't kill her, otherwise she'd be gone... like.. for good right? Something happened, cause cloud is seeing the rift that was present in aeirths dream "a world where every1 has accepted their fate" did aerith plant that there to help cloud see the truth? Cloud isn't refusing to accept his own fate, he's refusing to accept aeriths Imo, every1 who refused to accept fate, is stuck between worlds. Cloud, sephiroth, aerith, and zack are all refusing to accept what is destined to happen! Aerith obviously doesnt have a choice as shes the key to the planets fate, but the other 3, are straight up refusing to see the truth Zack is a strange example of someone who refuses to accept fate! And this is interesting, because biggs DID accept his fate. Thats why he dies. Zack refuses to die alongside biggs, resulting in a new world being born with zack at the church, where biggs DIDN'T die. Zack didnt ask to be saved, neither did biggs, but they are both aware that they were in fact destined to die, but fate had other plans for them... Sephiroth on the other hand, i have no idea what edge of creation sephiroth is up to. It's apparent from EC, that hes aware of his human side, and isnt being manipulated by jenova. I've been crafting theory's for weeks on end 😂 Could it be possible, he wants to do what he planned on doing when he was younger? Save everybody? He literally says he wants to save every1! Does he want to reunite all worlds in order to somehow expell jenova from the lifestream? Does the 7 seconds imply that cloud will have a choice: A. Choose aerith and refuse to see the truth, resulting in jenova winning, B. Let aeirth go, accept not only her death, but his past, and become strong enough to stop jenova? (Alongside zack?) 😏 Why was sephiroth trying to kill omni aerith in the lifestream? If the answer is: so that shes dead for good, then why isnt she? He walked up on her in the church, in the lifestream, yet shes still "alive" I would love it if he asked her to help cloud see the truth, not only about her death, but everything about himself, in order to make a choice. 7 seconds till the end, time enough to see the truth and save the world, or refuse to let aerith go and watch the world perish along with every1 in it. Farfetched theory, but thats the beauty of it man. Part 3, ff7: requiem Opens with aerith sinking into the lifestream, and us being drip fed maiden who travels the planet, throughout the entire game 🤤 please square make it happen!! I think this change is a little different from the Dyne one, it still has the same impact and outcome for me. Whereas the change in Dyne's ending seemed to completely change the end point of his character. That said, instead of comparing it to the OG, I think it should be considered how the change supports the different theme/storyline of 7R. - "No healing run for Tseng" from chat LMAO - The Marlene & Zack scene -- ahh, from the mouth of babes 😂 the one chatter who said "it's always been clerith, pez", thank you 😂 Zack like a true bro still supports his best friend, though, as I always knew he would! - I'm fine with the constant pausing and reactions, but omg I keep worrying pez would accidentally press "skip" 😅
My Theory is this: The Aerith Cloud sees after Aeriths death in the Forgotten City is indeed Jenova pretending to be her. The Aerith in the CG ending is Aerith from the Alt reality where she lives. Cloud is living in the current reality but can see the altered realitty. Thus the fractured sky he sees is the one from the altered reality. The only POV to trust is BARRET'S. He wasnt doused n the lifestream noor a Sephiy clone. Also Sephiroth will redeem himself and tthe main big bad AFTER Safer Sephiroth will be JENOVA in her fully realized coompleted glory. Theres a TON more to explore for part 3. Rocket Town, Wutai, Mideel, KOTR, chocobo raising, icicle inn, northern crater part 1 and 2. Genesis, Deep ground, NERO, and the Sephiroth redemption i see them doing.
It’s multiple worlds, not universes. Multiple universes would imply more than one planet, and more than one consciousness of each person. We have no examples of multiple Zacks, multiple Clouds, etc. the only example we have is of Johnny, but conveniently we’ve already learned that Yuffie has created multiple Johnnie’s in Costa del Sol. Also, all of the “worlds”, are only made up of people that Aerith seems to know.

@@insertname3919 I think people are getting too caught up in the outcome of our playthrough/reality and ignoring the facts around multiple worlds. The only reason we're playing in a world that mirrors most of the OG is only because that's what the players want. I genuinely think we saved her as shown. The fact she says in the battle with Sephiroth "I saw what you did back there Cloud, thank you". And in the fight with Jenova he says "you've done it before you can do it again". I think Clouds now hyper aware of the events somehow. I could be way off but I don't think he's as messed up as people now think.
As much as I like Zack, I'm really not a fan of Cloud & Zack team up. IDK. It just feel fan servicy and cheesy to me. Especially Cloud & Zack doing "emrace your dreams." Also, I love what the ending does for Part 3 and Cloud, but I hate that for me personally, it completely drained the emotional impact of Aerith's death. I felt nothing and that upsets me. OG scene still makes me cry, to this day. But this, I just feel disappointment for some reason. I know that we'll get a memory of it in Part 3, but I feel like it should've hit now, since it's supposed to be the climax of the game and since it happened now... Also, I'm so sad that Birth of a God OST wasn't used against Bizarro Sephiroth. I was waiting for it the whole time. :(

I think the Aerith “dream” section had the larger meta purpose of saying “sorry” to all of the Cloud/Aerith shippers. You never really had a choice and were sorry we couldnt tell a story this time with that but “we dont have enough time”, as the old lady says. The show must go on!
I wouldn't mind that. That scene ..parting hug at the church.. beautiful. One of the better moments in Rebirth for me. I hope Cloud will contact Aerith in some way in the 3rd game and we'll experience new dialogue and interactions with Aerith. I'm all for that decision too. Even if the writers didn't see them being a couple, I'll deal with it.. have to keep in mind it's not my story. Another commenter I read not too long ago also pointed out that in Aerith's "dream" world date, the candy tasting was 'bitter' so it might also be a nod to their relationship not working out. But...for augments sake the bitter reference might be there because Cloud isn't his true self, you could view it as deceiving. Aerith appears to be drawn toward Cloud and most importantly- his true self. So.. we'll see when Cloud discovers himself if Square Enix will do anything more Aerith's and Cloud's relationship-wise. We honestly do not have the answers now.

The first time i seen her death in rebirth i didnt feel much emotion due to confusion and information overload, but I found the more i let it Marinade in my head the the more time I rewatch it it gets sadder and sadder, kind of like when u looser a close person in real life at first u are in a state of shock until eventually you break down and grief

I think you should watch the Loveless play with Aerith as Rosa as it heavy foreshadows the ending of Rebirth and maybe gives some insight on what might happen with her storyline.
It's almost a totally different game if you have Aerith as a date story wise-this whole game leads up to her death. Of course it would make the most sense to have her date for cohesiveness of the story, it's her send off- this is HER major part in the game.
I hate how Tifa stans just don't want Aerith to have anything that she wants and make it seem like her feelings just do not matter-shes bout to die. Just let her have a sliver of happiness before she tries to save the world ffs.
Tifa's moment to shine will be in the next game, they still have all that to look forward to. Aerith fans get a little bit of her in the limelight in the second game and then she's gone.

2:10:00 the Japanese translations are even more clear that cloud and aerith view eachother as just friends.
No they aren’t. It the difference between the high affection and the low affection 💀 in high affection Cloud makes it clear that he wants more dates and aerith says “I’m glad I got to hear clouds feelings” you guys act as if the game ends there too. The last two hours makes it clear how much the two mean to each other, and even if Aerith was confused on whether she liked or loved Cloud doesn’t matter because in Nojima’s novel, on the way to a smile, case of lifestream white, Aerith calls Cloud her lover.
In Japanese it says
“Cloud was her friend, her lover. He represented something precious, and existence she wished to protect”
In English it says
“Cloud was the girls friend. More than a friend for she had loved him.”

If the 'love' word isn't exchanged between them during these games, then the devs probably don't want players to think of them as such, meaning that Nojima's novel is effectively retconned.

Not only that but his love and deep desire to save her literally created another world and I believe that’s what she wanted to avoid. Pausing at the end of the dream date! I'm very curious how pez will interpret its symbolism because I see people reading it very differently. Some see it as a sign that date cannot be changed, while others see it as not being locked into existing options.
I thought the date was sweet and sad, yet also unsettling because of how "at peace" everyone in that world was. They spoke like people who had accepted their death. And of course, Cloud picked up that Aerith was overcompensating her excitement to hide her own sadness.
So many layers in this scene, SE did it very well.

I've seen too many comments saying Cloud is just crazy schizo at the end, imagining Aerith because he doesn't want to accept that she died. I don't think that's right at all, This Cloud is at peace and he's just able to see her and communicate with her. We know she's really there in spirit because even Red senses her presence.
The part where Tifa sees reality fracturing before her is interesting, I'm still not sure what to make of it. Some say she's seeing two realities playing out in real time, one where Aerith survives (no blood), and one where she's dead and there's a big pool of blood. Others say she always dies here in every world, she just dies differently. Others think that Cloud actually saved Aerith in Rebirth timeline but we are transported to a timeline where she dies. Cloud visibly stops Sephiroth, then there's a visual glitch before the blood appears that leaves room to different interpretations.
There's so much to think about. 😂 I agree though, despite small changes here and there the game and the ending was pretty good overall. Obviously there was a part of me that was hoping for wild and big changes to the story, but I'm ok with this too.

I think you've misunderstood it all. Cloud is refusing to accept it, but it's not only in his imagination. Sephiroth even tells him you'll never see the truth with clouded eyes.
The rainbow effect shows the 2 different worlds, tifa isn't seeing 2 aeriths, its going between what cloud is seeing, and what every1 else is seeing. It's just showing tifas emotions after seeing aerith has passed away.
It's pretty simple. Cloud never deflected the sword, that was all in his head. When the rainbow dissipates, you see the sword at a different angle, pierced through aeriths stomach with blood leaking from her. Just like in og, sephiroth pulls the sword out and smiles.
Cloud is refusing to accept aeirths death, but she isn't just in his head. It's more than likely omni aerith there since she already tells him she has a plan to stop sephiroth, and not to worry about him. Cloud needs to get his shit together on his own. Aerith can't just say: hey, this isn't real btw! Cloud needs to figure that out himself
@@CAeuJohno123 I think you're half there. When Cloud went through the wall of Whispers he entered another world. He saved Aerith in that world, but not in the main party's world. Cloud can see across worlds because he's been to other worlds, and/or possibly because Aerith gave him the clear White Materia and it's been tangled across worlds. The rest of the party can only see Aerith as dead, whereas because Cloud can see across worlds he ironically can't see that Aerith is dead in his world. However, because he saved Aerith in the other world, she was able to figure out how Sephiroth traveled between and manipulated worlds and was able to do so herself to reunite with Cloud and fight Sephiroth in the final battle. That's why he says "I must admit, I underestimated you" to Aerith: he was expecting an easy win since he trapped Aerith alive in another world and he wasn't expecting Aerith to be able to do what he does and manipulate worlds in the party's favor. The Aerith at the end IS the omni-Aerith but she has Sephiroth's ability to manipulate worlds because Cloud saved her in the alternate world. However, Cloud is indeed just seeing things in his own world and is refusing to accept Aerith's death, because he can't recognize that A Aerith is still alive but the Aerith in his world isn't.
Of course, this is my theory so I could be wrong, but I think this is what makes the most sense. It really doesn't make sense that Cloud never deflected the blade and it was all in his head because it showed the rainbow that denotes the creation of an alternate world. In every other situation in the game where that rainbow shows up it means the creation of another world, so it would be really weird and manipulative on the writers' part to show the rainbow when Cloud deflects the blade but then not mean that another world was created. Furthermore, it wouldn't make sense that Aerith would thank Cloud for doing what he did at the start of the final battle since aside from fighting Sephiroth, which he would have done anyway, Cloud didn't do anything other than throw off Sephiroth's control and deflect his blade. Still, I'm not on the Remake team and I could be taking this the wrong way. I don't think I am but I certainly could be.
I think Cloud clearly sees Aerith. But that conversation at the end doesn’t check out at all.

I think 100% for sure Aerith is going to be fighting Sephiroth on the front lines of the Lifestream and other worlds, but at this point Aerith has a limited sphere of influence on the land of the living in the "main" world. Ithink at the very end the Aerith we see is not the real Aerith. To me feels like it’s Jenova pretending to be Aerith. Remember in the temple of the ancients where they talked about how Jenova could take the face of friends and pretend to be them, I feel that is what is happening. Also remember in the forgotten forest Aerith said that she will handle sephiroth. At the end of the game Cloud said he’ll handle sephiroth but that is not what the real Arieth wants. This is why I believe the Aerith at the end of the game is Jenova pretending to be Aerith.
I don't think it's that because every other time we see Jenova do something like that, it's always a Sephiroth Clone whom she's using as the locus of the illusion. That's exactly what's going on with Glenn in the final Rufus cutscene: Jenova is using a clone to take the form of someone from Rufus's past so that she can manipulate him into focusing on the Wutai War instead of the real trouble with Sephiroth. We see the same things happening in Remake with Cloud seeing Sephiroth, such as in the cutscene where he sees Sephiroth but it's actually the clone Marco. In the final cutscenes with Aerith, though, there is no Sephiroth Clone; Cloud sees her but nobody else does. Because of that I don't think it could be Jenova. It could definitely be Cloud hallucinating or being made to see things by Sephiroth (though I don't think it's that either), but I don't think it makes sense from what the Remake games have set up with Jenova's power set that final cutscene Aerith could be Jenova.

Alot of people are overthinking the ending alot, when its quite simple. Rainbows have something to do with people not accepting the truth. It's not people being teleported to different wolrds on the fly, thats for sure 😂
The rebirth world is the main world still... when we see rainbows, it seems like that its indicating a breach within destiny, when people refuse to accept fate. Cloud is refusing to accept aeriths death to the point that he thinks he deflected sephiroths sword and saved her. He didn't. When the rainbow dissipates, masamune is at a different angle, stuck in a different part of the ground. The blood we see, is leaking out of aeriths stomach. Sephiroth pulls the sword out of her, and smiles at cloud just like in the OG
When sephiroth found aeirth in her "dream" (the lifestream,) he did something that merged her dream world with clouds "dream world" he didn't kill her, otherwise she'd be gone... like.. for good right? Imo, every1 who refused to accept fate, is stuck between worlds. Cloud, sephiroth, aerith, and zack are all refusing to accept what is destined to happen! Aerith obviously doesnt have a choice as shes the key to the planets fate, but the other 3, are straight up refusing to see the truth
Zack is a strange example of someone who refuses to accept fate! And this is interesting, because biggs DID accept his fate. Thats why he dies. Zack refuses to die alongside biggs, resulting in a new world being born with zack at the church, where biggs DIDN'T die. Zack didnt ask to be saved, neither did biggs, but they are both aware that they were in fact destined to die, but fate had other plans for them...
Sephiroth on the other hand, i have no idea what edge of creation sephiroth is up to. It's apparent from EC, that hes aware of his human side, and isnt being manipulated by jenova. I've been crafting theory's for weeks on end 😂 Could it be possible, he wants to do what he planned on doing when he was younger? Save everybody? He literally says he wants to save every1! Does he want to reunite all worlds in order to somehow expell jenova from the lifestream? Does the 7 seconds imply that cloud will have a choice:
A. Choose aerith and refuse to see the truth, resulting in jenova winning,
B. Let aeirth go, accept not only her death, but his past, and become strong enough to stop jenova? (Alongside zack?) 😏
Why was sephiroth trying to kill omni aerith in the lifestream? If the answer is: so that shes dead for good, then why isnt she? He walked up on her in the church, in the lifestream, yet shes still "alive"
I would love it if he asked her to help cloud see the truth, not only about her death, but everything about himself, in order to make a choice. 7 seconds till the end, time enough to see the truth and save the world, or refuse to let aerith go and watch the world perish along with every1 in it.

I think this change is a little different from the Dyne one, it still has the same impact and outcome for me. Whereas the change in Dyne's ending seemed to completely change the end point of his character. That said, instead of comparing it to the OG, I think it should be considered how the change supports the different theme/storyline of 7R.

My Theory is this: The Aerith Cloud sees after Aeriths death in the Forgotten City is indeed Jenova pretending to be her. The Aerith in the CG ending is Aerith from the Alt reality where she lives. Cloud is living in the current reality but can see the altered realitty. Thus the fractured sky he sees is the one from the altered reality. The only POV to trust is BARRET'S. He wasnt doused n the lifestream noor a Sephiy clone. Also Sephiroth will redeem himself and tthe main big bad AFTER Safer Sephiroth will be JENOVA in her fully realized coompleted glory. Theres a TON more to explore for part 3. Rocket Town, Wutai, Mideel, KOTR, chocobo raising, icicle inn, northern crater part 1 and 2. Genesis, Deep ground, NERO, and the Sephiroth redemption i see them doing.
Alsoo Zack is in the current reality not the Altered.

It’s multiple worlds, not universes.
Multiple universes would imply more than one planet, and more than one consciousness of each person. We have no examples of multiple Zacks, multiple Clouds, etc. the only example we have is of Johnny, but conveniently we’ve already learned that Yuffie has created multiple Johnnie’s in Costa del Sol.
Also, all of the “worlds”, are only made up of people that Aerith seems to know.

@@insertname3919 I think people are getting too caught up in the outcome of our playthrough/reality and ignoring the facts around multiple worlds. The only reason we're playing in a world that mirrors most of the OG is only because that's what the players want. I genuinely think we saved her as shown. The fact she says in the battle with Sephiroth "I saw what you did back there Cloud, thank you". And in the fight with Jenova he says "you've done it before you can do it again". I think Clouds now hyper aware of the events somehow. I could be way off but I don't think he's as messed up as people now think.
As much as I like Zack, I'm really not a fan of Cloud & Zack team up. IDK. It just feel fan servicy and cheesy to me. Especially Cloud & Zack doing "emrace your dreams." Also, I love what the ending does for Part 3 and Cloud, but I hate that for me personally, it completely drained the emotional impact of Aerith's death. I felt nothing and that upsets me. OG scene still makes me cry, to this day. But this, I just feel disappointment for some reason. I know that we'll get a memory of it in Part 3, but I feel like it should've hit now, since it's supposed to be the climax of the game and since it happened now... Also, I'm so sad that Birth of a God OST wasn't used against Bizarro Sephiroth. I was waiting for it the whole time. :(

I think the Aerith “dream” section had the larger meta purpose of saying “sorry” to all of the Cloud/Aerith shippers. You never really had a choice and were sorry we couldnt tell a story this time with that but “we dont have enough time”, as the old lady says. The show must go on!
I wouldn't mind that. That scene ..parting hug at the church.. beautiful. One of the better moments in Rebirth for me.
I hope Cloud will contact Aerith in some way in the 3rd game and we'll experience new dialogue and interactions with Aerith. I'm all for that decision too.
Even if the writers didn't see them being a couple, I'll deal with it.. have to keep in mind it's not my story.
Another commenter I read not too long ago also pointed out that in Aerith's "dream" world date, the candy tasting was 'bitter' so it might also be a nod to their relationship not working out.
But...for augments sake the bitter reference might be there because Cloud isn't his true self, you could view it as deceiving. Aerith appears to be drawn toward Cloud and most importantly- his true self. So.. we'll see when Cloud discovers himself if Square Enix will do anything more Aerith's and Cloud's relationship-wise. We honestly do not have the answers now.
