I am genuinely impressed at how. Like. Look at Alvida's ship. Pink and hearts and glitter bombs. It is the most anime thing but it somehow WORKS in live action?? I don't understand how they did it but they did it. I am impressed.
Fun fact: Zoro's fight against Mister Seven from Baroque Works is something that was mentioned to have happened in a Q&A but was not shown in either the manga or any previous adaptation of it. Introducing him that way was a clear signal that the people making the show really love and understand the source material.

Yeah, I literally expected nothing of this live action, aside from it being garbage. You can say it completely exceeded my expectations, it is not a masterpiece but it is very f$cking good and that is enough for me.
There’s a video series on RUclips that summarizes One Piece from an outsider’s point of view (usually villains) and the guy who makes them calls Luffy a “Magical Crackhead” and it is… an accurate description

Yeah, I had no idea that was coming, when I started watching this show. I went in, basically totally blind. Only the vague sense that it involved pirates and that the manga and anime have been running for so many years. I'm grateful they take themselves seriously. It would be so easy, so hack-ish, for the writers to poke fun at everything like some cynical MCU film that doesn't even try to care about the product or the fans. Everything's postmodern, deconstructed, blah blah ad nauseam. But no, this world of One Piece is ridiculous but it makes itself real by treating it like a real place. All the characters are consistently genuine. Immediate suspension of disbelief achieved. I got invested very quickly, and the show is so entertaining, fun, and optimistic, I just had to keep watching episodes as quickly as I could. You can tell everyone on set wanted to be there, and wanted to bring this wacky world to life in a respectful manner.

9:56 because the show is so linear, you can actually plot out Luffys entire journey on a map of the world from episode to episode, all the way to present day. Its pretty cool to see
As someone who watched the anime to watch the live action, it's great to see all the Easter eggs. Luffy did grab onto a bird and flew into a town in an episode. Also that guy's haircut is how he looks in the anime lol
The thing with the adaption to live action is that unlike how the manga and anime developed more and became much story heavy as it progressed, the live action has the benefit of 20+ years of hindsight to work off of, so they can cut stuff that was less important to emphasis things that became EXTREMELY important in the manga/anime. Honestly I'm not even as big of a fan as some of the people I know who have been following it since DAY 1 and when those friends of mine went "Yeah, I'm pretty pleased." thats when I knew that it was a worthwhile watch.
A big smile appears on my face whenever I see new people getting into this amazing world and really enjoying it! They did an explendid job with the live action for this reason! One Piece has such an amazing story that deserves to be known by everyone!
A big smile appeared on _my_ face when I watched this show as a totally new person with essentially zero knowledge of the world, its characters, or even the basic premise. This show is great. Sucked me in almost immediately, probably starting when Luffy first appeared on screen and had his talk with the bird. I had no idea about the fantasy elements or the other weird things, but they really sold it. I was invested quickly, suspension of disbelief achieved. I'm so glad they take the setting and events seriously. Nobody's making snarky jokes and making fun of the ridiculous stuff that happens. This show is sincere, not cynical, not _MCU._ They want to entertain me, not lecture at me or subvert my expectations. They care. They have real talent to pull it off, too. More of this please, Hollywood, stuff like this is desperately needed. It's genuine, it's optimistic, with morally good (but flawed) characters, and a story structure that's familiar and will stand the test of time. It's obvious that Eiichiro Oda's creative control is the key element that makes this work in Once Piece vs. many other recent adaptations that are abominations. I've read that he's been strict, but fair, and they needed to do some substantial rewrites at times to meet his standard. There are other good storytellers out there who could license IPs and produce successful works if you give them creative control too so the IP will be respected and remain consistent. I suspect, these days, most of them will be from Asia. So be it. I'll be eagerly awaiting season 2 of the live action One Piece, and thinking seriously about if I can invest the time in getting into the anime (I know that'll be a full time job if I try and catch up quickly, and I also can tell already I'll want to binge it as fast as I can once I start).
one thing to keep in mind in the OnePiece universe is almost every detail matters, kinda like Game of Thrones the world-building is fantastic. I'm so happy with this adaptation, feel sureal for fans to see the world is 'alive' and for new fans to see the appeal of it. . I know the manga/anime with >1k chapters/episodes seem too long, but once you get into it you'll want more. I'm sad that it feels toward the endgame now and I read/watched it for over a decade, It's never enough one-piece 😁
Honestly, it would be better to say that One Piece's world building rivals that of Middle Earth (from LotR, etc). It's the very rare case of the author knowing exactly where he wants to take the story over the course of nearly 3 decades, and (most importantly) the editors/publishers not getting in his way. There's also an inherent understanding that for everything we see firsthand through the Straw Hat crew's adventures, there's a thousand more things happening elsewhere in the world that we'll never see. For every major island that the crew has a grand adventure in, there's a dozen more equally quirky but less plot relevant islands in between where they're implied to have gone ashore, had fun for a day or two, restocked on supplies, and kept moving.

6:26 Roux literally with meat on his neck/cheek. I love the little things like this xD One of the best things about One Piece is how different is everyone (except the mobs, obv), be it in personality or looks. There's really no bland character so it's really atractive for a good amount of people.
One whom been reading the manga and watched the anime for 20+ years, it's so cool watching how many people are getting into One Piece and likes what they are seeing. It makes me smile each and every time. Love you video. Thank you ❤

This show really surprised me as well. I don't know anything about the anime or manga but you don't need to. The show doesn't try to be anything it isn't. It's goofiness, charm and charisma and just goes for it without apology haha. It just...works and that's a surprisingly difficult thing to pull off.
The actor that plays Zoro is Mackenyu ( born in 1996 in LA) started acting when he was 16 . His dad is an actor and a martial artist known as Sonny chiba . Mackenyu practiced Kyokushin karate since he was 8 (he placed third at the US kyokushin Karate Nationals in middle school) he also did gymnastics, water polo, and wrestling. He is famous for acting as Yukishiro Enishi in Kenshin live action. Fun facts : -He is into music , He started playing piano since he was 10 years old , and also plays the saxophone and flute and he knows how to sing. -He married a non-celebrity woman in January 2023 - His brother is Gordon Maeda that played Takashi Mitsuya in the Tokyo Revengers Live Action
It's been said that a One Piece fan's absolute favorite thing is watching other people fall in love with One Piece. I would like to add an addendum to that: A One Piece fan's favorite thing is watching people that have NO IDEA that Luffy is a stretchy boy fall in love with One Piece. It's SO wonderful. XD
As a die-hard One Piece fan, I'm so happy people who've never watched/read One Piece are getting into it. I loved all your reactions to this episode. Hope to see more. Subbed
I'd always heard it was good, but never heard much about it besides that, and was intimidated by the sheer volume of material and figured I'd never have the time. After seeing this live action adaptation, I really want to make the time, now. What a fun, entertaining, and optimistic story. Went into it blind, no idea what to expect, just that people were saying it was a good adaptation and a good production in general, and just over 24 hours later I had watched it all and was hankering for more. I think One Piece is going to get a *lot* of new fans because of this show. Certainly won me over. And I'm really happy for all you longtime fans that you got a good adaptation where so many other fandoms have been let down recently. Really seems to help when the original creator is on board and has creative control over the adaptation. Wish Hollywood would do more of that.

I love that y’all gave this a chance having never seen the anime. It was a lot of fun watching. Fun little thing that I was slightly disappointed about as someone who does watch the anime is that the communicator Snail wasn’t animated more. In the anime and manga the voice comes directly from the snails mouth and they take on features and characteristics of the person they are speaking for, it is such a fun thing about this world that makes it so entertaining to watch. Not to mention the snails become something of a character in their own right with some the shit they broadcast to the world.
Please watch the entire season. I've seen other reactors who haven't seen the anime or read the manga love it, great reviews, and as a decade+ long fan, I love it as an adaptation of my favorite STORY in ANY medium.
I love love looove seeing blind reactions to One Piece! After following the manga for like 15 years, it's so fun seeing people not even know that Luffy's whole thing is that he stretches like rubber
I’m happy seeing new people come to the one piece world. Even tho it’s long I promise you it’s still to short for use caught up . The story the journey will take you on an emotional roller coaster but ultimately it’s very interesting and entertaining

I especially love the way the Guy reacts to all of the funny moments (The Snail Phone at 28:55), as I react in the exact same way, even when I am just watching stuff myself.
Its a subscribe for me and I cant wait for you to watch the remaining 7 episodes :D
I love seeing people going in not even knowing that Luffy is stretchy.
wOw that AFI reference SENT me! So good!
A welcome suprise I finished the show last night happy to rewatch with you guys
im 10% into one piece, i am so glad you’re reacting to this! they adapted this so well
I know enough to know that 10% is a substantial commitment. I'm pondering myself if I even have time to get into the anime. But this live action show has really got me wanting to do so.
@@fakecubed im now 100% caught up to one piece! haha, it’s great to watch in your free time. it’s such a great anime, genuinely had me feeling for the characters +the world building is one of the best!
Love to see blind reaction. I am gonna subscribe and hope to see the rest of the show..
It is only going to get better and better.
Bitten by a radioactive rubber band shouldn't have made me laugh 🤣
I’m so happy you guys are watching this blind. This gets more people to watch one piece .
Hi! Thanks for your wonderful reaction, looking fwd to more!
Fun fact: A few days ago, one piece broke the internet when its episode 1071 crashed all the anime streaming websites for atleast 6-8 HOURS, both official and pirated!
I could describe Luffy like "Lovely hilarious guy" and i'm a big fan of One Piece, for years, i read all the manga and watched every episode of the anime, and that's why is amazing that you describe him like that when you first meet him, i'm excited to see you watching the whole serie.
"is his stomach made of rubber?"
to paraquote the author, "everything is made of rubber, everything stretches......everything...."
6:26 Roux literally with meat on his neck/cheek. I love the little things like this xD
One of the best things about One Piece is how different is everyone (except the mobs, obv), be it in personality or looks. There's really no bland character so it's really atractive for a good amount of people.
One Piece has amazing Pirates and amazing Marines, the characters are so great that you end up you loving people on both sides of the conflict.
One whom been reading the manga and watched the anime for 20+ years, it's so cool watching how many people are getting into One Piece and likes what they are seeing. It makes me smile each and every time. Love you video. Thank you ❤
“Is that a fucking snail phone? I fucking love it” is the best reaction I’ve seen to that EVER!!! You’re ride or die in the very beginning!!! Hell yeah!
This is the best thing about the live action adaptation is seeing people loving the world I fell in love with years ago, can not wait for you guys to watch the rest.
Please continue, love your reactions. I've watched One Piece up to 800+, need to catch up. Fun fact: the Japanese voice over is done by the original VA's for the One Piece anime. Saw this season twice already, once in English and another in Japanese with English subtitles....holy crap was is nostalgic.
I didnt know anything about this and now I'm obsessed❤
OHHH I just love seeing new people getting the One Piece addiction!!! Ive been a fan for years and please give more you make me smile so much, and girl I love when you give that cheeky laugh tee hee....its awesome and makes me laugh with you.
Thank you for reacting I am watching the ANIME and it one of my favorite, so I watched the live action and in my opinion it got me shocked it is so amazing I love it as much as the Anime I hope we get season 2. All the episodes in the live action made me emotional exactly like the anime which is why I am happy that I watched it and want more.
There’s no need to compare it to ‘live action shows’ enjoy it on its own merit. It’s a GREAT show. Period.
This show really surprised me as well. I don't know anything about the anime or manga but you don't need to. The show doesn't try to be anything it isn't. It's goofiness, charm and charisma and just goes for it without apology haha. It just...works and that's a surprisingly difficult thing to pull off.
I like how you guys were genuinely having fun watching. as it should be, because the show/anime/manga is really fun
-He married a non-celebrity woman in January 2023
- His brother is Gordon Maeda that played Takashi Mitsuya in the Tokyo Revengers Live Action
I've not seen much of the anime, my bf has. Instantly hooked on the LA, they did such a great job.
ENTIRE SEASON PLEASE! Your reactions broke me 😂
You guys nailed it when you said Luffy's optimism is contagious! Can't wait to see your full thoughts on the whole season
It's been said that a One Piece fan's absolute favorite thing is watching other people fall in love with One Piece. I would like to add an addendum to that:
A One Piece fan's favorite thing is watching people that have NO IDEA that Luffy is a stretchy boy fall in love with One Piece. It's SO wonderful. XD
it just gets better .. keep it going man , I'll watch ..I love to see people who never touch One Piece getting into it
As a die-hard One Piece fan, I'm so happy people who've never watched/read One Piece are getting into it.
Trust me, you will be able to do the 1000 episodes. It is extremely addictive.
Best reaction 🎉 I’m halfway through the anime so I’m a big fan and your reaction was so good! Love that you guys enjoyed the goofiness and purity that is One piece.
Ep 2 is a wild one and i think buggy is incredible in this live action version
He is but why did they make him so Dark buggy is a comedic relief
@@tyyyy5733 yeah he gives joker vibes bit honestly i don't mind the change... also they were obviously going to make changes like this one
Been reading op for years and its so good 🔥 probably my favorite manga out rn. Btw that's Adam Martin from yellowjackets as shanks lol just started so idk if y'all noticed.
Guys you will love the entire show. One piece manga is bigger than Batman and superman combined anime has been running for 25+ years. This is one of the greatest story ever written. Live action Netflix show is good as well.
i was looking for a completely blind reaction! i love seeing new people getting into one piece because of this live action adaptation
I've never heard the first thing about One Piece in any format, but 10 minutes into this and I'm loving the show, and your reaction, as well as the hilarious edit inserts. This was excellent entertainment, great work!
You know what's weird?
This Live Action makes me want to watch the anime all over again. It's reigniting my interest in the original series! 😍
"you landed safely" killed me XD. Love seeing reactions from people who haven't seen one piece before, so fun
I know I normally watch Action, Horror, and Trailer reactions from this channel, but I never thought I'd see my favorite anime on here, y'all are gonna enjoy this, this will be the first time I see someone who's never seen One Piece react to this LA
Stop at 26:35 and look at Zorros swords. I never thought the Wado Ichimonji can bend like this :D
We need More!!!! I love this show and I’m so ready for y’all to Watch it!!!!
Welcome to the Journey!! Let's GO 🎉
Please watch the entire season. I've seen other reactors who haven't seen the anime or read the manga love it, great reviews, and as a decade+ long fan, I love it as an adaptation of my favorite STORY in ANY medium.
Can you please please name those non fan reactors??
@@thedoctor3528 to name a few channels. Alex and anime, Mikey venture, omn1media, cinepals, reel rejects, magic magy.
I love love looove seeing blind reactions to One Piece! After following the manga for like 15 years, it's so fun seeing people not even know that Luffy's whole thing is that he stretches like rubber
Reactions from long time fans of the franchise are already a dime a dozen. As newcomers, I think this would be a successful series for you guys.
I forgot how crazy One Piece is when you see this all for the first time. Completely bonkers. And that's why I love it! 🤣
finished watching the whole season again today lol. Amazing adaptation and great casting 🎉
"turn yourself into a boat"
words cannot describe how flabbergasted I am at this sentence
One of the greatest things about this live action is getting to see so many people brand new to One Piece react to it--love it so much!
just found you guys off this video. will be sticking around to watch the rest of this and check out some of yalls other reactions!!!
New to the channel, enjoyed yall thoroughly going from the little edits to the side comments and the silent cuts with your wife's reaction 😂😂😂
I love how this show just kept the compleate insanity of this world building lol
I’m happy seeing new people come to the one piece world. Even tho it’s long I promise you it’s still to short for use caught up . The story the journey will take you on an emotional roller coaster but ultimately it’s very interesting and entertaining
Love to see ppl react to this who have never seen One Piece, it is so much fun!
Netflix FINALLY manage a good live action adaptation. Not perfect, but earns it's place to exist alongside the anime. Hoping they manage to keep it going!
"Someone team up with him." Had me dying. Fun reaction. Worth a subscribe, can't wait to see you do the rest.
Welcome to One Piece. I hope you keep watching. There will be more zebra pants lol. I have been watching/reading One Piece since 2005 & I can say this is an amazing live action. The actors have been chosen perfectly.
7:47 "this is dude crazy"
Luffy is truly that guy😂😂😂
Just subscribed to your channel for this reaction. I'm a long time One Piece fan and I loved the first season as a whole. I'm looking forward onto your reaction of the second episode now.
ONE PIECE REACTIONS EVERYDAYY PLEESSEEEEE😭😭
Everyone who I've seen who hesitated watching/reading One Piece due to its lengths Always expressing regret for doing so. I suggest that people just take their time. There's no rush really.
