As a One Piece fan, there's nothing that I love more than seeing a true blind reaction because the live action version has certainly done a great job at emulating the excitement that I had when i watched the anime version years ago
To put it into context. Season One of the live action condenses roughly the first 45 episodes of the anime while taking other elements from later episodes (character introductions/revelations) into a tightly streamlined story.
It is worth noting that because of how the episodes are done, those 45 episodes probably only work out to like 25~ish episodes of actual plot. Especially as you get deeper into an arc, once you take out the opening intro, the starting recap and the end credits there are some episodes of one piece that have like less than 10 minutes of actual story in them and then you have some entire episodes just dedicated to a fight scene.
I would definitely recommend a first-time viewer watch the live action to see if they're interested in the premise. It takes a good ten episodes to get a decent sense of what the anime is gonna be like, just cause of how slow everything moves in the beginning, so the more streamlined introduction works a lot better for getting someone into the series. They basically just made live action OnePace, and I'm here for it.
@@troikas3353 Not really, what you are referencing is something that becomes a problem later down the line when the anime starts to catch up to the manga. The East Blue Saga basicly only have Intro and Outro and minimal episode replay, so at least 18-20 min of actual content per episode. And the "other" 20 episodes are filled with character moments, so it is not "worth nothing". smh
The snails are a multi-level pun in Japanese - they're called "den den mushi". "Dendenmushi" is an old name for snail. "Den" can mean both "electric" and "communication", "mushi" means insect, meaning they're called "electric communication insect". And, of course, "moshi moshi" is the traditional, non-formal, way of answering the phone.
The best thing about the actor for Luffy for me is that the creator of One Piece(which was first a manga, then an anime, and now the live action) said that the actor himself made him laugh and reminded him of the Luffy he created. Oda told Iñaki Godoy(Luffy’s actor) that he could not imagine anyone else playing the role. Inako is genuinely happy and charismatic and positive in his real life as well. He was a perfect fit.
Not only that, both Eiichiro Oda (the creator of One Piece) & Mayumi Tanaka (the Japanese voice of Luffy from the anime) both placed a Straw Hat on Iñaki’s head, acknowledging him as Luffy.
my most favorite part was just how much you guys were laughing at the fun bits. one piece at its heart is about adventure and joy and there's a pretty good humor going on with it. the creator also chose the actor for luffy based on how he was able to make him laugh while watching his audition too. so i think it's pretty neat to see new fans coming into the show without knowing anything but right off the bat seeing how the charm of it all works for you guys. real happy to see you picked this up, can't wait to see more!
Glad you guys noticed how the show goes from lighthearted to serious and back. The story in One Piece later covers a lot of dark themes which are reflections of serious real-world issues, racism, slavery, classism, to name a few, but they also have lighter moments of friendship and laughter that you just cannot get enough of it. Truly one of the greatest stories ever told across all media.
One Piece is THE story. The one we tell different versions of. Everyone has a tragic backstory, but tragedy is no reason to give up on your dreams. Laugh for the present, cry for the past, and hope for the future
The funny thing about Zoro is how he's so freaking cool that he goes all the way around to be dorky. Like ridiculously cool. Zoro is an edgelord and I love him for it.
Imo I think they made him too serious in the live action. In the anime he sometimes even matches Luffy’s goofy energy but in the LA he’s always serious and monotonous
@@naturallyawesome6723 - As someone who saw the live action first, and have only seen several episodes of the anime, I'd say it's different, but it still works. I get the impression that the cool factor was what they were really wanting to stress, and they seem to have nailed it.
@rodjacksonx no spoilers, but the only thing I didn't like about the live action was how they portrayed Luffy's physical strength. In terms of raw physical strength Luffy is stronger than Zoro which is weird seeing how scrawny Luffy looks. But I hope you enjoy the journey
@@blakchristianbale Yes I know Zoro is more Buffer than Luffy however in terms of raw strength no, Luffy far outclasses that of Zoro. And Zoro is insanely strong capable of lifting houses n stuff, however so does Luffy but people seem to think he gets stronger because of his rubber which is not the case.
So one thing you should know, the show follows Japanese convention in naming, with the family name coming before their individual name. So Luffy is the characters name, not Monkey. Also, to the shows pacing, season one follows what’s called the East Blue sage. Overall, its about 45 episodes from the anime, and there is a lot condensed.
99% of the time this is true but not always, Rob Lucci and for example is essentially under western convention. As was my boy Cutty Flam before he became the Franky we know and love.
26:15 this statement, I'm in awe that they caught the difference between angry young Luffy and full of joy present Luffy. Manga readers/anime knew the reason, at least they should know, but it's amazing they saw that just from episode 1.
Didnt think this would happen so quick, youre in for a fun ride guys. One Piece is a one of its kind masterpiece in anime history and i hope you enjoy it as much as myself for literally my whole life now. I personally think they nailed the real life adaptation, especially Nami Zoro and Sanji are casted perfectly.
Definitely not going to spoil the story for you guys, but Luffy's change in demeanor from being a fussy kid to being so laid back isn't an oversight, there is a reason for it. Glad you guys enjoyed episode 1!
Its super rare for a live action for an anime to be well done. So as an one piece fan i am actually so glad this was so good, especially with author working behind the scenes and overlooking the project. Happy to see you guys enjoy it as well. Looking forward to the next installment of the series.
The detail to their clothes was actually great on the live action's part and it's nice to see people noticing that. One Piece has a huge world. Different islands have different cultures. I won't spoil too much, but just keep that in mind. 😉
My parents (who can't stand anime as an art form) watched this whole series and really liked it. They especially enjoyed the story, the fight chorography and a lot of the performances (with Inaki's Luffy, Taz's Sanji and Jeff's Buggy being standouts). Overall, this is proof if nothing else that One Piece is a story that not only deserves to be watched in this form but also can be applauded for transcending a medium that whilst I enjoy, can have limitations for some.
Thank you so much for being so open-minded towards this! One of the biggest reasons this live action has been done so well is everyone working on this show are huge fans of the original work. Another big reason is that the original creator is quite heavily involved too - he chose all the actors of the main casts so they definitely nail their characters! Looking forward to future reactions!!!
I'm expecting to see zoro in the next season, cause in this first episode, he is very serious and intense, while in early in the Anime version, zoro kinda starts smiling and having a good time as his connection to luffy and the crew evolves. Also, I want more of the bickering between him and sanji, these two are the best duo 😂 But yeah, great show, great casting (I love how they interpreted Buggy, it's so much fun) and overall a great work, both in costume design, setting, the little and very unique things that only one piece can pull off (like the phone being a snail), just about everything was very well done.
This is one of the best anime adaptation by Netflix, there are some flaws but overall it's enjoyable. After all oda (creator of the series) himself was involved with this show.
Wow love that BADD MEDICINE logo behind y'all!! One Piece just bring the kid out in me and it is just a joy to watch. Consider im here for the rest of your 8-episodes journey.
The actor that plays Zoro is Mackenyu ( born in 1996 in LA) started acting when he was 16 . His dad is an actor and a martial artist known as Sonny chiba . Mackenyu practiced Kyokushin karate since he was 8 (he placed third at the US kyokushin Karate Nationals in middle school) he also did gymnastics, water polo, and wrestling. He is famous for acting as Yukishiro Enishi in Kenshin live action. Fun facts : -He is into music , He started playing piano since he was 10 years old , and also plays the saxophone and flute and he knows how to sing. -He married a non-celebrity woman in January 2023 - His brother is Gordon Maeda that played Takashi Mitsuya in the Tokyo Revengers Live Action.
The thing that kind of separates this live action from the others is that the original creator and mastermind of the story was a huge part in its making, he had to approve everything. Also from what i know most of the ppl working on this show are huge fans of this anime. I'm happy you all enjoyed the first episode and i cant wait to watch you react to all the others !
It's its own anachronistic fantasy world, with fictional species, nature, techs, and physics, like narrator said "This is a world like no other"... Can't wait for more!
His name is Luffy actually. All characters' names go by family name - given name order. And if you like the sword fight scenes, I'd recommend the Rurouni Kenshin movies. Their fight scenes were insane and the actors did their own stunts. Zoro's actor was in one of them.
Wow this was unexpected! A few hours ago I was just thinking about how cool it would be if you guys reacted to this. I really love the anime and the manga and this live action is very good too so I'm excited to watch you guys reacting to it.
They compressed around 45 episodes each about 20 minutes into 8 hour long episodes. So this basically covers around 15 hours of story in the anime in roughly 8 hours. But the story sticks closer to the manga.
I feel like the reason this Live action did so much better than the rest because they had the original creator of the manga (Eiichiro Oda) Working on this to make sure it was as close to the original as possible and oh, my god, did they do it justic. I'm so excited that you guys are doing this reaction Can't wait for the next one.❤🎉

They shot this scenes in south africa, cape town and all the boat scenes you see here are real, they built ships and everything, as for the fighting stunts, the actors trained themselves because they want everything to be aunthentic and the main casts are a fan of both the anime and the manga... Thr creator of one piece (1999) is Eichoro Oda, he is the one handling every decision starting from scripts, casting, what to change and what to add from the scenes and scripts, he said that adapting 1:1 episode is impossible considering the anime is more than 1000 episodes so he was really on board on some changes of the story as long as they stay true to the source material, good thing is, most of the production staff even the show runner and director are fans of the anime and the manga...so everything they do must always go through Oda and all decision befalls on him...
@@MrZigazig yeah i know the manga was released around novermber or december 1999, im talking about the anime's released date, sorry for not being specific about it...
I've been watching/reading one piece for around 15 years and its something that gives me so much joy. Even 1000 chapters later, it just keeps getting better. The live adaptation is different, but it keeps the spirit of the original anime, and one piece fans can tell. It makes everyone smile, and reminds me of the things I care most about. Can't wait for you to enjoy the live action! Please have a wonderful time.
I was hoping someone would notice but the opening scene where the pirate king gets killed they show some pretty important characters in the crowd and shanks was in there.... it is a pretty great detail bcs moving ahead they will connect all those small details. You also noticed the scar on captian morgans hand and it is indeed a foreshadow so good guess.
You guys by far are my favorite reaction channel now. I watched about 20-30 reactions to this show and you guys were my favorite. I’ve probably watched this 3 times fully through now and I’ve seen a couple of your other reaction videos for other shows. I can see the genuine happiness you guys got when watching this show and it seemed really authentic. Thank you guys for being you!!
One Piece is one of the greatest stories ever told, the world building and character development are top notch. It's very rare that a manga maintains its quality over 25 years but One Piece has done it. The manga is in the final arc right now and better than ever. The live action show has done a phenomenal job adapting the manga, the characters and their personalities are spot on, the casting is perfect. It made some significant changes to the story but they're all done very well and maintain the spirit if the story while condensing arcs to fit the new medium.
One Piece is currently the 2nd most best selling comic in the world. Over the last few years it's beat out Spiderman and Batman in lifetime sales to be just behind Superman. The anime is long but it really is worth the watch. I'm so happy you guys have started this series. They did such a good job on the live action & that's definitely b/c Eichiro Oda the Mangaka (One Piece's creator) helped create it, but in no small part b/c the actors embody the characters so well too. Oda just posted a clip on YT announcing using a snail phone aka Den Den Mushi that Netflix has green lit a 2nd season.
It's always a blast to watch non manga/anime fans reacting to this series. Hope you like the whole series because One Piece is the best entertainment in any form of media, according to me and thousands others manga fans
Think of Luffy's stretching like a spring or a rubber band. Once he stretches, the tension to go back to normal increases. The further he stretches, the more that tension increases, meaning the power behind it increases esponentially. That's how he can pull out that safe straight from the floor and how he can punch Alvida so hard she flies all the way off into the ocean.
GUYS I LOVE YOU!!! Thank you for doing this for us! I'm also grateful that you uploaded to youtube sooner than i expected because many people like me can't afford patreon due to economic problems so thank you for thinking about us too! i really appreciate it, excited to see more!
I too watched the live-action series without knowing anything about it, and I’m so addicted to it now that I have to watch all content about it, including this awesome video!
I love One Piece and this adaptation perfectly captures the spirit and essence of the original story and it’s characters. Its been so fun seeing reactions from people who know nothing about it going in, im hype yall picked it up!
So excited to see you guys give this a shot! The live action starts at basically the same place as the anime, and the characters here embody the originals well! They do have to condense a lot, but they're so good about including subtle little nods to the things they skip that it doesn't really feel like they're completely ignoring anything. There are seriously so many easter eggs for fans of the anime, it's great! Can't wait to see your reaction to episode 2! ^^
It's so fun to watch people go into this so completely blind. The best thing about this adaptation... aside from being one of very, VERY few good live-action anime adaptations... is that it makes the story accessible for a whole new wave of people.
Yes!! I’m so happy you guys are watching this! Even if you don't watch the anime or know anything about One Pidce, the live adaption is a great introduction to people outside the anime, the best anime live action I’ve seen.
I've never watched the anime before but I'm obsessed with this live action series! The cast has such good chemistry on and off screen, and according to my brother it's very faithful to the anime/manga
This is another one of those surreal ones to me, like The Boys and Invincible, where I was so obsessed with the source material for so long and just always assumed it was too crazy to ever be made into live action, especially with the track record of Manga>Film. But it's fucking awesome, the manga started when I was 9, I'm 33 this month, and I've been reading it since I was 14. I can't imagine how it is to see this as your first experience, but I'm so glad it got made well and as been received well. Luffy is one of my favourite characters of all time, his attitude and mannerisms are so entertaining.
Amazing reaction guys. Yes they really took their time and put alot of passion and work into this series. It's not perfect but probably about as good as a live action could ever get. Looking forward to the rest of the series from you!~
Watched the first two episodes with you guys and it was a blast! So glad you dive into the OP universe. Now I'm waiting to watch the others with you, too. 💚💪
The adaptation is based on the manga (the source material for the anime) so some things are also fresh for anime fans. Things were compressed, but nothing essential was lost. Anything added was based on throw away lines referring to stuff that happened off screen. Helmeppo’s naked sword dance… not in the manga… or the anime.
I nearly choked from laughter when I watched that part. I'm fully caught up with the anime and the manga and I was happy to see that they nailed Helmeppos character.
I’ve had to remind myself that most people reacting are the anime fans more-so than the manga fans because they would say something didn’t happen the way they portrayed it or they changed things because I remembered that they did happen in the manga.
Man I love much depth Luffy and the crew has. Each flashback helped understand each of these characters. Luffy has so much nuance. He is a decent fighter, sees the good in everyone he meets or at least tries to, but still sees some people are just bad; he is loyal to his friends, his optimism and joy is infectious, and he is determined to help people. I love how each character has different personalities, but their goals match. Koby is shy, but wants to help people which Luffy does too. Zorro is a bounty hunter, but has his own moral code. While he is fine killing bad people, he still protects the innocent which parallels Koby and Luffy. The people Luffy chooses to align with have these good characteristics and moral code and he does not see them from a surface level. He can see past their masks which not many people can do.
It’s really cool to see people who have never seen One Piece react to the live action. This is arguably the best live action anime adaptation ever. I’m so happy that One Piece, the bestselling manga and most popular anime of all time, received so much love from Netflix, they really did an excellent job. This first episode was quite lighthearted and fun, but be warned, One Piece is known for its sad and emotional moments and later episodes will get a lot darker. I’m glad you already love this show though and I can’t wait for your reactions to the other episodes! This is going to be an amazing adventure!
I love watching people react to this, especially those that have no background in the anime / manga. It's exciting to see new people fall in love with it. Gets me pumped again for things upcoming and to see how people take it. This adaptation has been amazing so far. I just hope they start filming seasons back to back, cause this is gonna take a long time to adapt.
As adaptation goes, this one is pretty good, there are some deviations from the anime/manga, but they make sense in a live action format. Regarding the story in the tv show, it literally covers the first 80 or so episodes. So they are not skipping anything, but there are a few things compressed/changed a bit of course. With that said, best anime adaptation I have seen so far. Great reaction guys!
I love how everyone says: "This is giving me Pirates of the Carabean vibes!" While I was 2003 in the cinema, watching Pirates of the Carabean 1 and was like: "This is giving me One Piece vibes!"
Seeing people who don’t know that Luffy’s a rubber man react to Luffy getting shot and bouncing the bullet back never, ever gets old! I can’t wait to see y’all react to the rest of the season. They did such a great job on this adaptation. And y’all are right, Zoro is always a scene stealer in the manga, anime, and now in the live action. 😂 Plus, I’ve yet to see anyone watch this and not be immediately captivated by Luffy’s charisma; Iñaki absolutely knocked this performance out of the park. And as the season continues, you’ll see that the entire main cast is dynamite.
As an OP anime fan, I'm feeling the same excitement in a more deeper level since this is a live-action. Currently, the manga/anime is at S20 at 1075 episodes which is more detailed compared to OPLA. So, the S1 is around 60 episodes in summary. Btw, happy to see you guys liking the OPLA! Welcome to the OP world Nakamas' 🥳
So fun fact about this show is that all of the actors did a majority of their own stunts. There is behind the scenes of the training and it's incredible
Makenyu, who plays Zoro, is the son of Sonny Chiba. AKA Samurai Movies Legend and the one who made the Hattori Hanzo sword in Kill Bill. Dude's Samurai royalty.
The costume Luffy wears has always been high selling. During anime conventions and halloween. The One Piece anime has a very huge fanbase during its Japanese tv adaption airing in 1999 and the manga (comic) being created back in 1997 by Eiichiro Oda, who helped with the creation of the One Piece live action. The anime is really good and popular, and even though the episode count is too mich, you guys should definitely check out the anime if you want.
As a long time One Piece fan, getting to see people who have no idea what One Piece is about getting so excited over this adaptation has really made me so happy. It takes me back to the excitement I felt when I first started watching One Piece all those years ago.
Been waiting for you guys to react to this! Because this is based on an anime that was based on a manga created by the legend Eiichiro Oda, who is Japanese, you actually will find that the part of the characters names that are said last are actually their first names. That’s why people call Roronoa Zoro, Zoro… and Monkey D. Luffy, Luffy. I absolutely love to see that all four of you are watching this one! I’ve been a fan of one piece for over a decade now and I’m so happy the live-action got the adaptation it deserves, even though there is quite a bit that was changed or left out, it’s done expertly and doesn’t ever feel like it’s done without a reason. As far as I can tell, even from non-anime fans, people don’t have an issue with how speedy it can be. These first 8 episodes cover a good first 45 episodes, give or take a little. Much love to all of you! Been loving all the content! Lord of the rings and Harry Potter is what got me hooked!
42:27 Actually, the other way around. Koby’s presence is actually expansed in this version. After Romance Dawn(which was the first two or three episodes in the anime, whereas it’s the first episode here, which is three times as long as an anime episode) Koby essentially disappeared from the show for a long time, only appearing in a few episodes here and there, showing what he was up to while Luffy was doing his thing, until he finally came back into the story hundreds of episodes later. He appears much more in the live action version of the East Blue Saga than the anime version since he doesn’t just disappear from the story after Romance Dawn.
I saw this and now im watching the anime, they did an amazing adaptation in this live series. And the actor of Zoro, did all his stunts, he is amazing. And other actors did themselves a lot of stunts too.
Just wanna put it here, that in the manga and anime, Luffy said he wants 10 crews (not specifically men), but here in the live action he added '...and a bird' because one of the member has one 'bird' that follows her.
This is an AMAZING adaptation. The sets, casting, costumes, character design are all perfect. Your sentiment about ATLA is the same that I had! I can’t wait!
I binge watched this on the weekend with a friend who had never seen or read One Piece. It's so cool being with people while they get into something for the first time! Thanks for sharing guys!
Those actually are real ships that were built by the set design crew, and the shots are a combination of some on the water/cgi blended in on land. This is one of the most expensive shows ever produced, with a budget of $18-20million per episode. Netflix spared no expense lol
Thanks for reacting to this series! I do hope this sends you down a rabbit hole and would eventually watch or react to the anime. Even though it’s 1075 episodes and ongoing. Huge under taking but as a fan of One Piece I can say, it was worth it! Can’t wait to see your reactions to the other 7 episode for season 1. It’s the best!
Aaahhhh!!! My favorite reactors reacting to my favorite anime! This is so cool! And One Piece broke the curse of live action so I'm thrilled that you guys are watching this.
So in terms of setting, it's like a mix of old school pirates, but there are some modern influences as well. It's a delicate blend of enough modern to be plausible but not so modern you'd be like 'That seems out of place' clothing being primarily it, but it's held in by it's more fantastical aspects. If you decide to watch the anime, which would be a long slough, keep in mind that while you'd get a lot more context because of the nature of anime certain arcs would play out much slower than they have in this because anime is done the same time as the manga it's based on so they slow it down and put in 'fillers' which is used to slow the pace to give the manga artist time to continue the story.
Absolutely love that you guys are into it. Take it for what it is and you will enjoy it. Some context: This is the Live Action adaption of one of the longest Animes and the best selling manga (comic), of all time.
Awesome to see you guys seemed to really like this first episode! I’ve been wondering how someone who knows nothing of one piece would react to the live action, so it’s great to see how well received this first episode was
To be fair, the move Nami pulled on those pirates happened 5 years before Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movie since the Japanese manga started in 1997. So the first season of One Piece live action covers the first 50 episodes (which is also close to 100 chapters in the manga). So it's all condensed, but it does a pretty good job of representing everything you need to know about the characters and the world. The manga is the superior version because the creator is an extremely good story teller.
Really looking forward to the rest of your reactions to this! It’s been so cool watching non-One Piece fans react to this show; I honestly don’t think I’ve seen any new watcher not at least have a ton of fun while watching it. One Piece is genuinely one of the most creative and fantastic stories in modern media history, and I’m so happy that the Live Action is introducing to many new fans to it!!!
35:35 AHA, Guess what? They DID film the thing on actual boats. Several of the boats, especially the important ones coming up, were actually constructed in real life, and are used as physical sets. Incredible the passion there was behind this
the world of one piece is intentionally all over the place timezone wise. its a completely different world from earth with its own history and extremely varied locations and technology, they kinda made the live action setting a lot more carribean looking than the original anime, windmill village where luffy grew up looked a lot more like just a general like european village with houses and stuff sorta like rural ireland. but they changed it to be a bit more of a familiar "piratey" feel. at least for the first few islands they go to. but yeah theres a lot of weird shit in the one piece world especially in the grand line where its just kinda anything goes. so thats why you see people walking around with clothes that seem modern sometimes but less modern other times.
The anime is way too slow and the animation art style is in desperate need of a modern anime look update. The live-action is much better to watch so far
@@diegopansini3152 I disagree. There's a lot of flaws in the LA that people tend to overlook. And while the animation is subpar, the art style is subjective. Just because it's old, doesn't make it bad. The best way to experience OP is the manga, followed by One Pace, but I think anime is fine, albeit flawed. I can definitely see these guys enjoying it
@@diegopansini3152 Oda actually specifically created this art style for One Piece and has refused to "modernize" it for 2 reasons: 1) He wanted it to be different from anything else on the market. In an interview, he said, "It was popular to draw girls with the hair flipped inwards, so I flipped it outwards." Just like Jojo's unique art style is impossible to forget, One Piece's art style sticks with you even if it's jarring. 2) He was determined to ensure he wasn't "riding on other people's coattails" and didn't want to share any blame for failure or credit for success. Whether the series failed or succeeded, it would be due to his own efforts and talent in storytelling. No more, no less. I believe that his art style gives the show the unique freedom to create all the strange creatures, people, and abilities that inhabit this world, as well as the great silliness that comes with it. It has a loony toons quality to it that wouldn't work with, say, the Jujutsu Kaisen art style. It helps immerse you into a whacky world to the point where even seeing a person with two elbows is just like "yeah, ok" which shows how well Oda manages to "sell" the world and unique idiosyncrasies to his audience.

Iñaki* is his name:), but yeah
@@dan.dandan thank you for the correction ☺️
Not only that, both Eiichiro Oda (the creator of One Piece) & Mayumi Tanaka (the Japanese voice of Luffy from the anime) both placed a Straw Hat on Iñaki’s head, acknowledging him as Luffy.
@@Phanthief95too true! Mackenyu was jealously gushing about it! 😁
my most favorite part was just how much you guys were laughing at the fun bits. one piece at its heart is about adventure and joy and there's a pretty good humor going on with it. the creator also chose the actor for luffy based on how he was able to make him laugh while watching his audition too. so i think it's pretty neat to see new fans coming into the show without knowing anything but right off the bat seeing how the charm of it all works for you guys. real happy to see you picked this up, can't wait to see more!
@@eonragnarock2366 Zoro is more buff than Luffy in the manga too, his physique has always been deceptive
@@blakchristianbale Yes I know Zoro is more Buffer than Luffy however in terms of raw strength no, Luffy far outclasses that of Zoro. The manga is unbelievable, I wish I could start it over without knowing anything to enjoy it again
Thanks for sharing that information. I’ve never seen the show but thought his name was Luffy and got confused when they were calling him Monkey. 😅
Doesn't he introduce himself as Monkey D. Luffy?
@@LA_HAyes. Monkey is his last name. Japanese people say last name first. We say first name first
@@Anonymous-ve7pi Right, his name in English is Luffy D. Monkey. As in Luffy The Monkey.
Haha
Its super rare for a live action for an anime to be well done. So as an one piece fan i am actually so glad this was so good, especially with author working behind the scenes and overlooking the project. Happy to see you guys enjoy it as well. Looking forward to the next installment of the series.
Let's go One Piece!!! It's my favorite anime and the best live adaptation ever.
Yess! Please continue! :)
I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe when diamond Dave said "wrong move ponytail!! I mean man bun" OMG 😳 😂😂😆
Helmeppos actor got his laugh perfectly, in the anime his mouth is huuuuuge when he laughs, this guy was about as good as it gets 😂
He did SUCH a fantastic job as Helmeppo!
Also, I want more of the bickering between him and sanji, these two are the best duo 😂
But yeah, great show, great casting (I love how they interpreted Buggy, it's so much fun) and overall a great work, both in costume design, setting, the little and very unique things that only one piece can pull off (like the phone being a snail), just about everything was very well done.
This is one of the best anime adaptation by Netflix, there are some flaws but overall it's enjoyable. After all oda (creator of the series) himself was involved with this show.
I was wondering if this will ever happen. Glad you guys picked this up 👊🏻
Wow love that BADD MEDICINE logo behind y'all!! One Piece just bring the kid out in me and it is just a joy to watch. Consider im here for the rest of your 8-episodes journey.
So excited to see you guys check this out, they've done such a phenomenal job at adapting this beautiful amazing story into a live-action adaption 🥺
-He married a non-celebrity woman in January 2023
- His brother is Gordon Maeda that played Takashi Mitsuya in the Tokyo Revengers Live Action.

It's pretty hard to notice them if you have not watched the anime or read the manga.
Hard to notice if you don't know the source material, but it's a very cool detail. Definitely something for new fans to catch on a rewatch

Damn, these guys are actually paying attention ! Best blind reactors so far !
“He’s stretchy why not just grab some water” 😂😂
As adaptation goes, this one is pretty good, there are some deviations from the anime/manga, but they make sense in a live action format. Regarding the story in the tv show, it literally covers the first 80 or so episodes. So they are not skipping anything, but there are a few things compressed/changed a bit of course. With that said, best anime adaptation I have seen so far. Great reaction guys!
I enjoy watching people who have no idea about one piece because it gives a fresh reaction.
I love how everyone says: "This is giving me Pirates of the Carabean vibes!"
While I was 2003 in the cinema, watching Pirates of the Carabean 1 and was like: "This is giving me One Piece vibes!"
Anyone else binging OPLA reactions? Nothing makes me happier than seeing new people watching One Piece!
I love that they're calling him monkey. It's so different
The sets, casting, costumes, character design are all perfect.

you guys have perfect timing, i just finished watching the series yesterday!
Incredible the passion there was behind this
the world of one piece is intentionally all over the place timezone wise. its a completely different world from earth with its own history and extremely varied locations and technology, they kinda made the live action setting a lot more carribean looking than the original anime, windmill village where luffy grew up looked a lot more like just a general like european village with houses and stuff sorta like rural ireland. but they changed it to be a bit more of a familiar "piratey" feel. at least for the first few islands they go to. but yeah theres a lot of weird shit in the one piece world especially in the grand line where its just kinda anything goes. so thats why you see people walking around with clothes that seem modern sometimes but less modern other times.
yassss! about time my dudes reacted to my favorite. much love and looking forward to the content!

@@diegopansini3152 not if want the story rushed to the max
@@diegopansini3152 I disagree. There's a lot of flaws in the LA that people tend to overlook. And while the animation is subpar, the art style is subjective. Just because it's old, doesn't make it bad. The best way to experience OP is the manga, followed by One Pace, but I think anime is fine, albeit flawed. I can definitely see these guys enjoying it
@@diegopansini3152 Oda actually specifically created this art style for One Piece and has refused to "modernize" it for 2 reasons:
1) He wanted it to be different from anything else on the market.
