For some info you may be interested in, this song was released as the lead single to promote his new album 'the eminem show' in 2002. This was his first solo release since 'The Mashall Matters Lp' which was released in 2000. The album 'The Marshal Matters Lp' received a LOT of backlash from a lot of people as it was one of the most offensive and edgy albums ever released. So with the song 'without me' he's basically just laughing at all those critics and saying in a way 'im back go and cry about it' lol. @@GiddyKitty you're going to hear the name Proof a lot, too. Proof was his best friend and arguably the best rapper in D12 besides him. He was Em's hype man for a long time and did a lot of backing vocals live. After he died, Mr. Porter took over. The other guys in D12 have very lively personalities. Eminem had a great support system outside of being great by himself. The other guy in this music video is Dr. Dre from N.W.A., or just Dre, if his name is enough. 😅

@@GiddyKitty We should mention (because it will come up in later music) that Proof was shot and killed in ... 2006 and it led Eminem to stumble into an even worse substance-abuse (he already had problems about that before) that resulted in an overdose which very nearly killed him. He's been sober for 12 years now. Maybe one of these days, you'll tackle "Going through changes" or "Deja Vu" (or even "Castle" and "Arose" (they're a combo) but those two are really heavy on the tearduckts), so it's important background-information, I think.

for future reference, when it comes to Eminem, in some songs he refers to having multiple daughters. He has one biological daughter named Halie Jade that he had with his ex Kim. he adopted 2 other girls, one is also Kim's but she had with another guy. the other girl is Kim's sister's, she died from an overdose, and Eminem adopted her daughter.

Just FYI, the black guy in the video is Dr. Dre. He was a major rapper in the 90's and 2000's. He essentially found Eminem and introduced him to the world. Eminem has said several times that Dre saved his life.
Awesome, just a suggestion, make sure to listen to the uncensored versions of his songs, because especially for his older stuff he changes a lot of the lyrics for his music videos. Or even for your first listen if you struggle to keep up, a lyric video might be best 😊

Lots of people are recommending songs, but I haven't seen anybody mention something you accidentally mentioned yourself, "Evil Twin". It's a super interesting song about the relationship between Eminem and Slim Shady.

Run Rabbit Run is a good song of his, it's super underrated and hardly brought up but it show cases his ability to tell a story while rapping non stop for 3 minutes. But love the Em reactions so far!

"Same Song and Dance" is a surprisingly great vibe song with him being a serial killer. Seriously I'm a woman and love it, lol.
"Deja Vue" is about him relapsing before finally getting sober. It's not that heavy, he just describes the rationalizing addicts do very well and in an entertaining way.

Debbie is his mothers name basically he said “fuck you mom” this was his earlier songs so yeah his hate was still kinda strong. Basically the story of this song is a kid buys an eminem song but is actually too young for it his mom is buzy doesn’t notice it so rap boy makes it in time to stop the kid from listening to the song because it’s meant for older people

• Elvis - comparisons of a White performer becoming successful from Black influenced music. (and of course dying on the toilet).
• TV that dominated the culture in the late 90s and early 20s: Parody of trash talk show Sally Jesse Raphael in which family members would fight and make fools of themselves- in this case Em’s mom Debbie whom sued her own son.
ER (parodied as EM - popular hospital drama that once starred George Clooney). Survivor- reality game show. MTV’s The Real World - some would argue was the Granddaddy of reality television. E news- which glamorized and influenced paparazzi shows like TMZ.

• Keeping with the theme of Batman and Robin... the car that Eminem and Dr. Dre are in is a Lamborghini Murciélago ( Murciélago is bat 🦇 in Spanish)....and this same model was used as Bruce Wayne’s personal transportation in the Christopher Nolan Batman movies.
Love the charisma. I can appreciate the difficulty in 2nd language lag. Between myself and my Russian wife, I have moderate Russian language skill set, but my wife, living here in the US for about a decade now, is near native speaking level. She still has trouble when it gets later in the day or if she is tipsy. All of that being said, your English is outstanding. Only a slight accent, which I find charming.
