Soft wash and Pressure washers typically don’t leave the chemicals on a surface for extremely long periods of time so that it settles and damages surfaces. The chemicals are usually only on a surface 10-30 minutes (nasty, oily, stained concrete is longer) and then they rinse it. They also pre-wet grass and plants and flush them after with clean water to prevent the chemicals from damaging them. You also have some kinds of vinyl siding where the mfg warranty says ‘no bleach for the first 5 years’ and they can use a soap or biodegradeable eco friendly cleaner like they sell at Lowe’s instead of heavier chemicals. Also, you can mix heavier chemicals like bleach to a lower ratio to where it is even less potential to ever harm a surface-like a hot mix of bleach for a nasty commercial concrete might be 8-15% but they can run a low 2-4% bleach mix for aged vinyl or a wood fence. Concrete require heavier bleach ratios.

120,000 monthly revenue with 30,000 monthly overhead and 20% margins? Then 11 employees and only 3 trucks? I’ve been in this business a long time and while these gross numbers are very doable, his numbers aren’t adding up at all!!
Payroll is 60-75k per month before his salary. He does breakeven , at 85k per month. Definitely the best interview that you guys have done so far! This owner has confidence in his brand and energy that is contagious. I plan to start my pressure washing business early next year so I've been watching a ton of these types of videos for about a year now and this one took the cake. I do pressure washing, and softwashing because my trailer has 2 soft wash systems and one for pressure washing, but its super impressive how he can make that much money on his 2nd year only running 3 trucks.
Uplift needs to know the difference: average sales per month, and anualized sales stated. Anualized yearly sales mean that they take the highest month in sales and then is multiplied by 12 even if sales are zero the rest of the year( anualizing is not lying in finance, it is just playing with numbers and potential sales). This business is not doing 1,440,00 per year. Buyer be aware, Careful when buying a business based on Anualized sales or revenue.
One of the best stories I've seen for soft washing. I'm one year in and I wish this was out when I started because I made most of those mistakes lol. Nicely done and super value-adding!
By chance do you have another example of a mistake you learned from that Stephen didn't have/mention? I'm super interested following in your guys' footsteps. Did you buy the same start up equipment Stephen mentioned when asked?

I have to say... those are some great questions! ok, real question: do you enjoy powerwashing/softwashing??? Like, do YOU enjoy picking up the tools, climbing onto the roofs and doing the labor? or can the function be replaced with ANYTHING and you would still be there running the business side? The issue I have is I enjoy the job, not the business. I am not a business person, I am not an accountant, I am not an HR department, I am not a scheduler, I am not payroll. I enjoy using the tools and running the blaster, the tractor, the trailer, driving the truck.... DOING the work, not managing the work. sure, hiring six teams to go out and do the work makes a nice profit and that really is the goal of any small business, but my desire and excitment does not live in the office pushing spreadhseets and answering phones. has anyone built up a business and hired a management team just so they could keep doing the labor part and still collect the "owners" paycheck?
No, you can not generate decent revenue if you're only carrying out laborious tasks as a tech. To see any growth you will need to wear all the hats in the beginning years. Sales, Marketing, Ordering, Inventory, Maintenance, Repair, Operations, Payroll, Accounting the list goes on. As sales grow you can then hire team members and delegate tasks but you can't start hiring until you're making real money and that will only come from the other tasks you did that didn't involve labor
So he’s profiting $120,000 a month after labor, taxes and expenses? Or 20-30% of 120,000? Really inspiring story. Kickin butt Stephan. Appreciate you doing this.
I love this video gave me more motivation when he said I started of with 2k and made my way up that’s pure love on his business… can’t wait to start my soft pressure business
You could literally get a couple electric power washers for like $500 and use pressure regulators on them to reduce pressure on delicate surfaces. Growing the business is what matters most.
A more detailed breakdown of the equipment would be helpful such as, chemicals used different types of hoses and nozzles, and where to get these specialized tools cheap
This guy oozes confidence. It’s evident that he’s focused on growing his sales skills. He mentioned that in his morning routine he dives deep into sales training. I wish you dug into that more and found out what it entails. I’m very curious
In washington, 20.00 an hour still sucks....after your 2k a month rent for a cheap ass apartment, and whatever other bills you have, you wont be left with much, or with anything til next pay check...

If your spraying chemicals you need to wear clothes that are 100% polyester. Also I highly recommend paying for a professional service oriented software that does your invoicing and quotes. It makes your company look way more professional and keeps really good records of everything so you can focus on making money.

Kudos to both Stephen and the host for a job well done!
Every pressure washing company uses both. You use soft washing for houses and roofs. Pressure for walkways, patios and driveways. That’s just how it works
This comment is not for this video only. I've watched some of the videos about all the businesses he is introducing, the nature of their business etc. However, something that is being avoided to some extend to be mentioned is that this businesses are already successful due to correct marketing, being in a good neighborhood, maybe some connections with other business or it can be anything else. The parts that is not really mentioned is how many bones these people broke for their business to step up and not lose profit. I do know how does running a business work. You don't have to own a business to know that. I wish this videos were focusing on negative parts of owning a business rather than the positive parts. The list for disadvantages of running a business is endless, but again it really depends to your personality, abilities, confidence, knowledge and many other things if you really want to own a business. This is just a personal opinion and not a criticism.
You can tell this is actually his father’s business. But great video for sure. I love this show. Really respect newer business owner’s and especially when they struggle opposed to spoon fed.

I have a pressure washing business and I paid really good money for my system and I want to clarify few things. I would say 80% of what hes saying is true about sales but 20% I dont agree with and its a lie! The hardest part is getting customers and to get customers you need to pay for ads with no guarantee or you gotta work your ass off and talk to every person you see in despiration just to get a sale and if maybe if that! Getting leads when you're new its a bi*ch sorry to say and a lot of people fail for that reason because they can't find leads consistently. I don't believe that he started with 1500, all the systems he has I would estimate cost over 25k, there is no way hes started like that and Im wondering where he got the money from. Hes making it look way easier than it is. If it was that easy everyone would do it n be successful but its not that easy. 2 facts I want to say, number 1 to get a good pressure washing system I would say you need no less than 6500 that includes the full system, mounting and thats not including a trailer which is another 1-2k and thats not including a truck/suv to pull the trailer so good luck with 1500 starting. To start this you need minimum around 8k, you dont wanna show up like a little kid with low quality equipment, no one will do business with you like that! Anyway im stating some facts because not everything he said is true! But its not easy thats for sure and its really hard for me to believe everything hes said about his business and timeline. Friendly personality Very Tolerant🥈. Back to your original question , " No, unfortunately, I live in Quebec City," but I am quite impressed with your company and friendly polite customer service.
America is truly a land of opportunities. I see a ton of videos of ventures started by young men like him and feel that if you have the drive, your barrier to success is lower than most of the other people living on this planet. I may be wrong here but it's not everyday that you hear someone from an emerging or third world country getting the taste for success this easy.
Pressure washing is meant for dirt, paint-stripping, and deep oil/grease stains. Softwashing is best for home exterior. Pressure washing and softwashing have their own use cases, you can use both. Not sure which is easiest to make profit off of. Driveway cleaning has a big market.
Steven is amazing how he became successful in two years’ time. I love seeing this. It's great to hear how he's using Facebook and Instagram for his business. I'm sure with a little time he's going to be using Tik-Tok for sure. I love how he always has a team mindset. Definitely a great way to run a company.
does the washing soap/chemical damage the grass around the houses? i already have a mobile detailing business but im looking to expand pressure washing/soft washing is probably what in going for
Yes. The chemicals are harmful to plants so you must dilute to the minimum required for the job. Also, you must rinse the plants before you start applying the chemicals to the house, then again immediately after applying the chemicals to the house, and then a third time after you have done the final rinse on the house. The main chemical is called Sodium Hypochlorite or "SH" for short. It is a pool-cleaning product. You can feed it into your pressure washer to mix with the main feed or mix it up in a backpack sprayer and apply it manually after you have done an initial wet-down of the section of house you're working on. Just work on part of the house at a time.
So he had a lot of help from his older brother who basically had jobs lined up for him from His window washing company…. And yeah that’s the key to his success was the help from his family.
I wonder how this type of business will get affected by longer and longer droughts where water usage will most likely be limited. There are already cities that do not allow you to wash your driveway down during extreme drought. I ask because I am in California where we have definitely been in a drought and my own water rates have gone up because of that.

The business seems to be growing based on cashflow(the most important factor to keep the business growing) not based on profit on paper. He might get cash injections from Family. Rcommendation , social media is 10% partner of this business, I recommend buying social media stocks today.
@@stephrogers you can calculate fixed, variable and consumables however you’d like. I thought you included payroll in that number during the interview but if not, then these numbers are even crazier. If you’re not including payroll or consumables and that $30,000 a month is strictly fixed expenses then somethings way off. Only way I could see that being possible is if you’re paying crazy high rates for SEO services and lead generation.
@Max Larson the numbers given are averages, so fluctuations are already accounted for. That’s the whole point of averages.

Thank you for your feedback. We'll try to be more specific in our future videos regarding this.
The best thing about social media is it can make you.
The worst part is it can break you.
One of the best stories I've seen for soft washing. I'm one year in and I wish this was out when I started because I made most of those mistakes lol. Nicely done and super value-adding!

I'm pretty sure, you can hire people for everything you said. Hire an accountant etc.
Freaking beast! Awesome to see another young entrepreneur killing it
Indeed! Are you an entreprenuer as well?
So he’s profiting $120,000 a month after labor, taxes and expenses? Or 20-30% of 120,000?
Really inspiring story. Kickin butt Stephan. Appreciate you doing this.
Revenue isn't profit.
Revenue × Profit % = Profit
Profit= 36K/month= 432K/yr
Revenue

Thank you for the suggestion! We would have loved to ask him that as well. We'll make sure to keep it in mind for a future video.
Respect this guy for actually paying a decently hourly wage, even for Washington.
In washington, 20.00 an hour still sucks....after your 2k a month rent for a cheap ass apartment, and whatever other bills you have, you wont be left with much, or with anything til next pay check...
@@John_Doe_6996 you can find 1 bedrooms for 1100. You can also rent out a room. Sounds like these guys live in the cheaper south western area, too. And he's still paying 125 percent more than what the minimum wage is in Seattle. So yeah, not bad for a job that takes almost no skill
If your spraying chemicals you need to wear clothes that are 100% polyester. Also I highly recommend paying for a professional service oriented software that does your invoicing and quotes. It makes your company look way more professional and keeps really good records of everything so you can focus on making money.

Good luck

I’m looking into it as for me not being so young. What was your start up cost?
Two different types of equipment for both right? Is pressure washing best for starting out?

I've watched this video 100 times already. super inspiring
does the washing soap/chemical damage the grass around the houses? i already have a mobile detailing business but im looking to expand pressure washing/soft washing is probably what in going for
In a few months i want to start my own pressure washing business. Here in Az you can make alot of money doing this and detailing vehicles
