Love your content, here's my answers: 1. You can improve this channel by asking more questions about the hiring process. Finding good help is a challenge to every business owner. 2. I know this would be difficult but building a business opportunity evaluator app. In other words an app that would take market data into consideration and give a rating as to the level of opportunity that exist.

It would be great if you could always ask about training. Like how they learned their trade and how they train new employees. How much training costs and how much you realistically need to spend on training to get started. What exact training they did etc etc
This is one of them trades where you have to have a passion for it in my opinion. When you enjoy cleaning your own car and then friends and families cars you gain experience and training and start learning which products to use and the do’s and donts. From there you can learn the business side to it and kick start it!

I'd like to be able to make a minimum 600 dollars a month to offset my car payment. That's enough for me to start
@upflip love the channel. To answer your questions.... Question 1. I'd like to see more videos aimed at people that already have a small business. For example how to choose an accountant, how often, by how much and when to increase prices, what to look for when researching competitors 2. I'd love to see a business tool that suggests when it becomes profitable to hire an/another employee. I input numbers and what type of employee they are etc and it does the maths on how much it would cost to employ versus how much they could potentially earn or lose

When leasing a space for business, keep in mind that this is only temporary. Your goal is to own your own building when you are financially able afford it. If you are renting, the landlord can raise your rent or not renew your lease at all. This can have dire consequence to your business. If you own the building, not only will you avoid these problems but when you retire, you can sell the business together with the building; or sell the business and lease the building to the new owner. Either way, you walk away with a good retirement income.
So true. I know someone who does emissions testing only. For 20 years, his rent was $400/mo. Owner sold the property and his rent is now $1500!!Still low enough but that is a huge increase from one month to the next. Over $10k for the year.
1. What can you improve : ask more pointed regarding questions scaling and generating leads. 2. Business Tool : How to start and setup a business - biz plan, what are articles of organization, how to get biz license, etc. The parts no one tells budding entrepreneurs
We got you Michael.😀 These are great details that we definitely try to include in our videos. Do you think we should ask these types of questions to all the businesses we interview or would you like to see a video going over these topics in detail?
I was trying to think of a business that my 13yo son can be involved in and eventually do himself. This seems like something he’ll enjoy and learn a lot from.
This is great, but if you want an even better more more cost efficient method all you need is Optimum no rinse or any rinseless wash, super clean degreaser and a vacuum cleaner, tire shine and glass cleaner. My biggest expense is the tire shine on cars but I can do a whole car for like 5$ of product
A good way to get client reviews is to do like a quarterly raffle rewarding customers who reviewed you on a specific platform even further. People love free stuff and the thought of winning.
Years ago, I started with my little honda civic hatch-back. A hose, coffee maker to heat water, a little walmart steam cleaner, small portable vacuum, a makita buffer, and a gallon of premium wax off a detail truck. I used clients' water and electric source and charged cheap to do full details. I was so busy I stayed exhausted.
Subscription plans are great for a business. If he ever wants to sell the business, that is the only thing that’s worth buying. He would have created a brand and recurring source of income for the business. Otherwise, anyone can start detailing and adding “one off” customers. I like that he does the subscription plans, and with time the 20% retention will increase.

@@Kevinmaxtor Were there other mobile detailing business around your area when you started? I'm thinking about trying to start my own and learning what I can but there are quite a few in my area which makes me a bit nervous because I'm not sure of how competitive the business is
Upflip, this is such a great video as always, but I’m just a little confused on the math. He says a couple times that he makes $10-12k a month or around $150k/ year in revenue, then says that he pays employees, which he has multiple, $25/ hour, has insurance costs, overhead, etc. But the margins are 70%. If he had even one employee working full time with him, 6 days a week, that would be over $50k/ year in payroll alone, not even factoring in FICA, Social Security, etc. So what am I missing here?
I’m contemplating in starting detailing part time on weekends as I have a full time job. Used to work for a body shop and dealer so I have enough experience doing the work, obviously, willing to learn more. That been said, could you possibly ask the detailer you interview how did they figure out how much to charge per job or how they price the service they offer? Also, how they go about maybe doing it out their garage as a start? How will they market that? And lastly, how would they go about asking clients to use their power and water if they don’t have the means at first to buy water tank and generator? Thanks
Great questions! I too want to start my mobile detailing but I don’t know how to ask people if I can use their power and water !!! That’s what stopping me

Thank you for the comment Rick. We really appreciate you taking time to watch the video.😀 Mindset makes a big difference. This business owner was a great example of that. What type of content would you like to see more of on the channel?
One way you can improve the videos is giving tips or showing how to professionally perform one of the simple services. For example, in the cleaning business video from 3 weeks ago, Brock Parnell showed how to professionally clean a mirror.
The retention for these moments aren't great, it'll have a negative impact on our overall retention rate! The lower it is, the less it'll be pushed by YT algorithm. But thank you for the suggestion!
dude the XB is the best car to run a detail business out of I use to have a burnt orange one "2004", and I'd tell ppl with luxury cars to go feel my paint and tell them I could get their car feeling like that BOOM SOLD THEM EVERY TIME !!!
Here is my little suggestion to improve the channel. Find what small businesses each city / state needs to give an idea to those viewers trying to start something with a less chance of failing. For the app, it can display what I mentioned above. Some kind of search engine. Also, I love the idea of your channel and have been watching quietly for a while but now thinking maybe we need a channel like yours in the True North, Canada!

Only problem I’m having with my car detailing business is the prices. Most ppl find $250 too much for a full detail. Knowing how expensive gas has gotten tht also hits hard for mobile detailing.
We appreciate you tuning in Marvin. Yes, sometimes pricing can take a lot of trial and error when running a business. 😀You may have to start lower and slowly increase. How long have you been in the industry?
Been running local businesses for over 10 years. Word of advice, do market research to properly price your services. Start off by undercutting the market, even if it's only by $10 dollars (don't go to low or you'll screw yourself and everyone else in your industry) . Have lower priced packages with services that can be done quicker than a full detail to bring in more clients. Raise your prices as you get busier and start turning down jobs due to being booked up. Hope this helped🙏
Glad you love this video! Your appreciation means a lot to us and motivates us to continue producing content like this. Do you have a business topic you want to see next on the channel? 🤔
I’m confused by the math. 3 full time (40 hours) employees @ $25.00 per hour each = $3,000 weekly in labor x 52 = $156,000 annual labor. He stated that his revenue in 2021 was $80,000, of which 70% was profit. I’m guessing he means the $80k is his taxable revenue?
I totally thought this was an ad, but it's best of internet when lessons can be shared 🌈🤲 The only ecological advantage humans have is trade. Shared knowledge is gift. Thank you from humanity ☺️
Want to jump into detailing . Want to start off by learning all tools and techniques needed to improve as a detailed and open my business in the future . This gave me inspiration thank you!
30 cars a week? 40 hours divided by 30 = about an hour per car. How is this possible? 10 to 12k a month divided by 40hour times 4 weeks. It's a $75 per hour. Not counting expenses like gas, cleaning supplies, tools. Not to mention taxex, licenses, bonds and insurance. So congratulation! You have minimum wage same as flipping burgers in MCDONALD'S

Make sure you wash your microfiber before using. Use a free & clear detergent with a bit of vinegar in cold or warm water. No hot water. I highly recommend a microfiber detergent like P&S Rags-to-Riches. 3D, Chemical Guys and6a few others have microfiber specific detergent. Dry on low heat or air dry as to not scorch the fibers. Do not use fabric softner. You can also air dry. Store the towels in a container if possible so they don't acquire excess dust or other contamination. 1. You can improve this channel by asking more questions about the hiring process. Finding good help is a challenge to every business owner.
2. I know this would be difficult but building a business opportunity evaluator app. In other words an app that would take market data into consideration and give a rating as to the level of opportunity that exist.
Thank you Devon, noted.

@@pitcomotorworx8687 I was so impressed with the wash I gave my car the other day, it look amazing. And honestly that was at a self serve car wash. Now, my car is a new Hyundai Elantra. Very blue. Not a sports car but I love it and how it looks. I work as a train conductor on call. However I work around 3 days a week on average. I'd like to get into this on the side to earn some cash. I'm a very detail oriented person and I love that feeling of satisfaction knowing you did a perfect job and it looks great. Currently pricing and doing some research to find out best practices, products as well as drumming up business and setting expectations. I'd like to be able to make a minimum 600 dollars a month to offset my car payment. That's enough for me to start
@upflip love the channel. To answer your questions.... Question 1. I'd like to see more videos aimed at people that already have a small business. For example how to choose an accountant, how often, by how much and when to increase prices, what to look for when researching competitors

I loving these mobile detailing videos

A good way to get client reviews is to do like a quarterly raffle rewarding customers who reviewed you on a specific platform even further. People love free stuff and the thought of winning.
This is a great idea Stirilm. 😀 It will give a business the ability to show their appreciation to customers.
Honestly Kevin did the best job iv ever seen on this channel . Hell I’d follow Kevin for sure .
Industry - realtor one that does a lot of sales with sellers and one that specializes helping first time home buyers would be cool
We got you nikkiau1. We just have to find the right company. 😀Are you looking to get in the real estate industry?
Subscription plans are great for a business. If he ever wants to sell the business, that is the only thing that’s worth buying. He would have created a brand and recurring source of income for the business. Otherwise, anyone can start detailing and adding “one off” customers. I like that he does the subscription plans, and with time the 20% retention will increase.
Appreciate the kind words!
I really would to start this in NJ but when it comes to the technical stuff like the site, plans etc. who do I seek out to help me out ?

Upflip, this is such a great video as always, but I’m just a little confused on the math. He says a couple times that he makes $10-12k a month or around $150k/ year in revenue, then says that he pays employees, which he has multiple, $25/ hour, has insurance costs, overhead, etc. But the margins are 70%. If he had even one employee working full time with him, 6 days a week, that would be over $50k/ year in payroll alone, not even factoring in FICA, Social Security, etc. So what am I missing here?
This was one of the MOST VALUABLE interview ever!
Thank you! 🙏
So much new advice I’m blown away and ready to start
Super Cool Jarrod. Go for it. 😀 We believe in you. Have you started a business plan?
Let's go!!!!
That’s what stopping me
@@mykidsmyeverything2021 just ask them, they aren't going to say no. It's mobile detailing, not a car wash shop.

For the app, it can display what I mentioned above. Some kind of search engine.

Hi UpFlip, can you make a video on mobile mechanics. Thanks!
Overall a good insightful video. Would of liked to know where the water and electric source comes from with mobile car wash. How to find clients from scratch, organic on the fly. How to qualify for business loans if necessary etc...
I have a feeling the insurance needed to work on other people's cars without damaging them far exceeds the profit.

You have to target the right markets, try affluent neighborhoods, HOA communities, people that actually have money to spend on a detail.
Hope this helped🙏
love this guys energy, well done on him.
Yes ....You must be very confused.

Chris fix did a really good video on tips for detailing the interior of cars.
Low skill barrier, low pay. Better make money on it on youtube selling a pipedream.
This was one of the better videos of this channel as to getting started with a small business with little to no capital. If you follow those steps your microfiber should last a very long time.

Hey Upflip. I’ve been watching your vids and am very inspired to start a business of my own. One question I wish you would ask is do these fellas that run the detailing businesses ever go door to door advertising their business or do they do all of their advertising online?? Thanks

I don't have a water bill, I use the client's water, I don't have a power bill, again use the client's power, I don't have a car note, I buy older vehicles outright cash, and insurance at least in the US is not that much. $50/month for business insurance and $300/month to cover 3 of my work vehicles. I also get vehicles that get 35mpg vs a work van that gets less.
@@Kevinmaxtor its hard to get people to pay £75 for a full valet where I'm from any cheaper its not worth it... and because so many people do it if you don't have the best looking van/equipment they will use the people that do plus advertising isn't easy
