Absolutely spot on with your thoughts about insurance companies being way to quick to write off cars (you just proved it) they don't want the headache and ultimately they don't lose money because they just hike their prices to cover their loses which we end up paying. Great job Matt and crew! Enjoy your skiing.

As a Canadian, who has had to deal with driving on the white stuff five months out of the year: the lack of respect for driving in mountainous terrain in Winter is astonishing to witness. But fixing the Rolls-Royce find of a lifetime, was a pleasure to watch.

Mat doing this in 1 week is insane. It's probably the best purchase he's done . He Pin pointed all the issues pretty quickly. It was a total risk, but no risk, no reward. Definite a reward here, Mat. The car is unreal.
You 100% deserve this car that was not a total nightmare like other of your cars to fix. Looking forward to see next crazy things you gonna fix. Keep up the fantastic job guys👌
I know literally nothing about cars. I'm not really that interested in them to be honest but Matt makes me watch every second of every video. He's a fantastic story teller and all the guys he works wit, especially his dad are legends. It's probably my favourite channel on youtube.
I was like “if you can get it for $20k a rebuild would only be $10-$20k!!” I mean depending on what all you want to do. I love the Rolls 10x more but that AM could have been done for likely less than $50k.
Your channel really is the complete package from the rebuild team to the editing and the music there is no equal. My wife is not a car person but loves watching your content, keep doing what your doing and happy new year to you all.
Matt, just a heads up, given the corrosion on the connections it’s safe to assume the cables are also corroded. Probably could use replacing. Resistance causes heat/fire. Just be mindful. To check this, just see if the cables you think might be corroded are hot to the touch after use. Best of luck.
Was thinking the same. .. Although the interior side of the cables may be ok. .. I think a voltage drop test across all those cables the modules fitted too should give peace of mind.. .. Still nuts, the Cullinan managed 1000 miles 1 week after purchase.
Not that big a concern from a fresh water dunking. Especially on a brand new wiring harness, where all the insulation and heat shrunk ends are really tight. I was an aircraft electrician. Fresh water ingress into cables is a very slow process. The danger begins when salt is involved, as Tavarish discovered with his P1 wiring harness being turned to junk, after its ocean water submersion.
Thank you for your input! Really interesting because I was wondering the same thing. He got a great deal, 110k discount on a car which has been sat in water for a little bit but hopefully Matt does do some tests/checks because I would hate to see it catch fire in a few month or so @gregedmand9939
Yeah, I am repairing a flood damaged Alfa Romeo Sprint Veloce & in my country of New Zealand if you want to repair a flood damaged car, you have to fully replace all the electrics & seat belts because when people initially started to repair these insurance write-off, within months to a few years the electrics began failing on too many repaired cars, I'm shocked that this is not a requirement in the UK.
I think watching this it is hard to imagine how much work this all takes. Like we watch these videos casually at home on the TV or phone and get huge enjoyment. But this is literally an insane amount of work, in the car and the video itself. Hard work pays off. Matt and team epic as always.
Agree. Taking that engine out with all the guys probably took a whole day at least. There is a lot of hard work gone into this build. Easy to hide a lot through editing..
I'm not a car guy, at all; and live in the states, but I always enjoy watching these videos. I find you and your family and friends very entertaining! Thank you for the amazing content every time!
Going skiing to Switzerland with summer tires is a bold move :) We rented a car from Munich with German winter tires (not Nordic lamellar tires) and drove to Austria. We immediately got into a snowstorm in Austria and it was pretty scary even with those tires, even though we are used to driving in snow all the time in the winter. Nice build and Respect!
And shmee just upload his video were he is going for winter tyres on his purgosaurus because it could be snowy in UK. We all love mat for his positive approach no matter what.
I’m even surprised that it is legal to go to some of these roads on the summer tyres. Here in CZ snow tyres are mandatory on the main highway from Nov theough March at all times, and everywhere else in case of snow on the roads. Is it not the case in Switzerland?
I wish the trip video is a bit longer but im not complaining . Getting an hour video is amazing . Mat is my favourite and the best youtuber ........ in the world
This channel really making me believe that i cant buy and fix cars by myself , watching all series is just absolutely astounding, Matt thank you so much for making these kind of videos and motivating me , i hope i get enough money to restore my car n continue the journey
Was about to say! Love the mann but going on a ski trip with winter tires on the cars is stupidity sorry to say!! Not only are you risking the lives of your family and friends but others on the road! Disappointed and if police saw that in Norway license would be taken from you and license plate taken of the car most likely. Other then that what a deal with the RR👍😂😂
It isn't mandatory most of the time, but some roads, i.e. most mountain roads, require you to do so, plus if anything happens with you on summer tyres, then its your fault, which means insurance wont pay and you might face charges for recklessness or whatever "fits"
Spent last 6 months swapping motor in my Audi wagon due to broke timing belt. It ran great for days but then yesterday it died and metal noises I heard. Watching these vids help me continue. Working alone isn’t as fun as working with your buddies cheering you on as you guys. ❤
Man, I too have always worked alone on my cars. I'll be thinking about you working on your Audio whilst I'm working on my Fabia - for some inexplicable (non-simple) reason the washer motor's not working. Day in the life of owning a car. Matt and his team are an inspiration to all of we home mechanics. Patience. Work through the problem. If it worked once, it has to be fixable!

What an outrageous Rolls Royce that is. So glad you chose that over the others. To top things off you did this all in one video. You and everyone that makes this all happen are the best thing by a long way on this platform Matt. Huge congratulations
Yeah, you need winter tyres and it's also mandatory in all Alpine countries. also, you need to have chains as well. This is an excellent channel, but my oh my, they sometimes got the dumb...
Thanks for actually making it 1 video especially the traveling even though you almost crashed the lambo but if you did you could’ve made another video fixing it. Thanks for all the content and time you put into your videos.
I watched this video with so much joy. RESPECT to you and your team getting this one done!!!! Really love your content but this is one of the best. As a mechanic a flood /electric damaged car is very scary, but you did it. Good job.😊
Your motto is “Hard work beats talent” but at what point does your hard work truly become a talent? Watching you diagnose things, and fixing things truly is a talent. I think you should change the “HWBT” to “Hard work builds talent”. Love watching your vids man, congrats on the huge purchase!
In some countries it's a legal requirement to have snow tyres in certain regions during the winter months. If you've not driven in snow on winter tyres then it's hard to put across just how much of a transformation it is. Loved the video, what a car and trust you got home safely. Happy New Year to you all.
Most EU countries that get snow have this rule, pretty sure France and Switzerland included. I was quite shocked they didnt have snow tyres, it wouldn't occur to me to drive to Alps without them.

Absolutely spot on with your thoughts about insurance companies being way to quick to write off cars (you just proved it) they don't want the headache and ultimately they don't lose money because they just hike their prices to cover their loses which we end up paying.
Great job Matt and crew! Enjoy your skiing.
Watching this channel makes me happy, like I'm sure it does many others.
The fun you have alongside your dad is so nice to see, many lads watching can only wish to have this bond with their dad.

As a Canadian, who has had to deal with driving on the white stuff five months out of the year: the lack of respect for driving in mountainous terrain in Winter is astonishing to witness. But fixing the Rolls-Royce find of a lifetime, was a pleasure to watch.
Yeah pretty Insane. They are on Summer tyres and even try it in the snow.
@@gregedmand9939 Precisely my Canadian response too… but what a car!!!
right, dude buys a wrecked SUV that crashed in snow, proceeds to drive in snow with summer tires.
They had luck. Switzer fines make a pretty dent in your pocket, the 6.000£ maby would be not enough.
Swiss prices makes staying there feel like you're constantly being fined.
A proper “top gear” Christmas special. What a great Rolls Royce for the final total - well done all. 👍

And no chains in the car before they left... Having done a search and found that it was going to be problematic isn't quite the same...

That’s what I was thinking!
I was like “if you can get it for $20k a rebuild would only be $10-$20k!!” I mean depending on what all you want to do. I love the Rolls 10x more but that AM could have been done for likely less than $50k.
Tony had such a big smile looking at it. Really hope it’s not the last time we see it!
Tony definitely bought it i reckon!👀

i love how you put all of this in one video. its help so much to guide rebuild. thanks Matt
Do a voltage drop test under load
Yeah, I am repairing a flood damaged Alfa Romeo Sprint Veloce & in my country of New Zealand if you want to repair a flood damaged car, you have to fully replace all the electrics & seat belts because when people initially started to repair these insurance write-off, within months to a few years the electrics began failing on too many repaired cars, I'm shocked that this is not a requirement in the UK.
I wish I had the skill to do this 😭😭

Going skiing to Switzerland with summer tires is a bold move :)
We rented a car from Munich with German winter tires (not Nordic lamellar tires) and drove to Austria.

As far as I know you're legally required to use Winter tyres in swizerland as well as germany.

Driving in winter on summer tires is illegal here in Norway. Wouldn't surprise me if Switzerland has some similar rules, and it is for a good reason.
Germany have the same rule I think
In France as well, it is mandatory to equip your vehicle with winter tires when traveling to mountainous areas.
Yeah was going to say the same! And snow chains!
