The LG V50 was the first phone to come with 4k 60fps recording in all four cameras but it wasn't praised for that, when iPhone brought the feature in the 11pro series, it was praised like crazy. RUclips these days is very biased😢😢😢

I watched a bunch of reviews before getting mine. They all commented about the notch, saying it is so 2018.
      But.
When the iPhone 11 comes out, notch is fine.

That may be the case for you, but LG has burned a lot of people so it's not exactly for no reason that their phones don't sell well. They had the bootloop issue for 3 generations of phones (possibly more) which is inexcusable. I owned 3 LG G4s and they all got into bootloops. My brother had the G3 and a friend of mine got the G5 which bootlooped as well. At the end of the day, no matter how good their devices today are, you can't call people unwise for avoiding them

Due to all this false/forced marketing happening by these top youtubers, I switched to a Mi phone, but sadly, even though it being a 2019 phone, it can't even come close to my LG V20 in audio and video capabilities, just after 9 days of use, I sold it and bought LG V50, which arrives in 15 days. I'm using one of the older V30s right now and it's hands down the best phone I've ever used, including my friend's iPhone XS.
It beats out phones years later in a ton of respects. It's about the thinnest bezel you can get without a notch. It produces the best sound out of anything i own (which isnt saying much, but it's still a bonus). I have everything i can set to hex #0 black to squeeze out a fair bit of extra battery life: the thing's a few years old, and I still can get 2 days of heavy use out of it. And the thing was half the price of the S8 it competes against (and wins. It's not even a competition).
If subsequent V phones are anything like the one I'm holding now, LG has a customer for life. Not to mention they're the last major holdout for SD slots and headphone jacks. Even Samsung has lost their way with their latest line.

I started off wanting to upgrade to a Note 10+ and the more i started investigating them the more I debated really getting it. There are three main features that made me get the V50 over the Note 10+. QDAC for audio, I don't consider myself an Audiophile, but having AptX for HD wireless and QDAC HD audio for wired connections make the audio sound REALLY AMAZING! The manual mode for the camera allows me to really get the shot I want in all lighting. Lastly, the mics used while recording video are the best! Especially in a loud setting. The audio won't blow-up and become distorted. I loved my V30. Only had my V50 literally a few hours at this point and i already love it.

I had the v20 and I loved it, that thing was built like a tank. They also don't get enough recognition for the extra ruggedness in their phones.
The last LG I had was the G6 which was beautiful and a bargain. Hands down the best phone that year.
The reason I switched to Samsung after alternating between the two companies for years is because the Samsung line of apps facilitate switching between phones and help keeping everything organized.
Also, don't sleep on LG's other products, they are still a leading panel manufacturer and their audio, laptops, and TVs quality are top of the line.

Fingerprint sensor works perfectly everytime. Taking pictures is very nice because they aren't so saturated like on Samsung's. Video stabilization is excellent. Cod mobile looks amazing/ (but does heat up device if you play on the games highest rez. It wont if you run low graphics and max frame rate) You can screen record. It honestly charges faster than I anticipated a flagship phone to charge. If you are like me, who watches tons of streaming services, plays moble games, uploads pictures/video content onto social media, likes listening to music/podcasts than this phone is for you. i think it's a great phone and this is an important take on it, because you're right, lg is not afraid to stand back and let the other companies do their thing while lg continues to do what their customers want. i think we may be in decent shape for lg continuing to do this also, because lg makes plenty of money in other industries like tvs, appliances, etc. their mobile division hasn't been a main focus for a while.

I just bought my LG V50 for under $275.00 including tax and shipping (Late November 2020). Yes, it is now an older model phone, BUT... since 5G is now widely available (I am paying for it on my service and you may be too) this looks like the most cost effective 5G phone I could have purchased. Obviously I am not a tech head or I would want a newer model, but a solid phone that is a little older and is one third to one quarter the cost of the new ones works for me. Thanks for the video. I feel even better about my choice now.

Watching on my LG g6. I've always sworn by LG. After the mishaps with the g3, g4 they came back with the g5 which IMO was the best phone of its time. Metal back, glass front, "LG friends". I now have the LG G6 I've dropped it on pave in the water, actually dropped it at the gym earlier today on a weight, flipped it over shattered. I was crushed. Then realized it was just my screen protector. Love LG. If the V60 isn't announced soon I'm getting this one.

It would be nice if they continued with Flex series. Also had V20, amazing phone with second screen. Now using V30. After one year still rocks like the first day. Its beast. Battery can last up to 2 days with out any problems. Headphone jack, nothing comparable to it. V50 is dream that will come true one day, I hope. LG is the best value for money.

Google deliberately keep storage low, so you make use of the included Google drive (I think you have unlimited storage for all photos and videos you take on a pixel) . If you put files on Google drive, you'll be inclined to buy another Google phone down the line with proper Google Drive optimisation, because that's where your photos and videos are.
Horrible business strategy in my opinion.

Love the video mate. I absolutely 100% agree with everything you have said here. I have the V50 myself and had the V30 before that without doubt the best phones I have had. Like you say the V50 retains all of the great features of past phones like the headphone jack but also adds new technology like 5g and it also came with the dual screen in my region which is actually useful! and a great way to get into the foldable phone space, it's like having 2 phones for the price of one!. I think it's the perfect balance of new and 'old' technology and kudos to lg for not becoming sheep and following every other phone maker in the Android space just to make extra money. I've had my v40 since a bit after the US release. To me it's just an okay phone. The selfie camera is such a disappointment. Rear shooter is okay. The speaker setup is average also. When I get to place it on a hollow surface it's decent but more often than not, I prefer stereo speakers. Battery life usually gets me through the day,but it's not good enough. Then there are the minor software issues that just annoy me sometimes like not being able to adjust the slider when the display is in auto more.
The v50 has got to be quite the upgrade for me to consider it a great phone, much less the "best".

LG V50 is a beast. Can't deny that, huge improvement on cameras, performance and battery life. Plus, that dual screen aspect is interesting and functional.
Now my problem with LG in general, regionalism (if that's a word).
The V50 disabled FM Radio (especially on Australian / European model in which I own, yet the American version can enable it by downloading the native FM app or NextRadio from the external sources). I am disappointed coz that's my app to go when I wanna listen news, music and talkback and save data and battery. It is such a shame also ehen they've misleading their specification that the app was included. I also heard that V40 has the same issue.
If they wanna focus on audio-centric and listening experience, they should include that app. Just saying.
Also with audio, whilst V50 has a bit of a richer sounds on wired headphones, it sounds quieter compare to my V30.
I guess this is my own take Painful Review for LG.
They are probably doing the "If You Can't Beat Them, Join Them" and leaning on joining the league of "Let's chop all the analogue components to make money on wireless sh*t".
Now I am worry about the future of their newer flagships.

As a proud LG v40 owner, I am disappointed with the LG v50 for these reasons: no improvement on RAM, no improvement on software updates, no 90hz screen(crossing finger for 120hz next year), and no dual screen case support in US. Personally, I dont care much for selfie and I think LG can ditch the 2nd front camera to have a teardrop notch, although that may interfere with face unlock. I think LG have switched from creating new innovations to perfecting existing tech, which is a bit disappointing but at least we get really solid phones out of it. Next year I hope they come up with a new dual case design to lessen the gap between the two screens and work some extra battery into the case, along with improvements on Ram, battery, refresh rate, and updates. Then they will earn an upgrade from me and hopefully many others.

    (3) I wish you'd given examples of "irrelevant features" on the S10 line.

The V series has never been about being the nicest looking phone on the block, it's definitely a function over form device and doesn't try to hide that in any way while the Galaxy S line tries very hard to look as good as possible for that initial appeal but it's software doesn't live up to the hardware (not saying LG's software is much better, two sides of the same bad coin).

I'm currently commenting on my LG V40, and gotta hand it to LG for making the V series really interesting with the quad DAC (which was the reason I wanted to buy the phone in the first place) and a handful of other features worthy of being a flagship. But one thing I see is quite infuriating was the rather sub-par UX and terrible gossips surrounding LG about how bad their phones are.
