Nothing too crazy... the first phone detects the "grab" gesture, then selects the picture currently displayed on the screen. The second phone detects the gesture but in reverse, then whatever was selected on the other phone is sent to the second phone via Wifi or Bluetooth... For this to work, both phones have to be paired somehow, so they can broadcast if there are any selected files.

Not really as a programmer I made this as a file sharing app in my highschool contest when I was in 8th grade that uses hand gestures to detect when to send it receive files, the only difference here is it's implemented into the os of the phone on a deep lvl using more ML technologies for accuracy. So nothing new here people make these kind of stuff in their cllg too.

@@gerard4039 you obviously don't know technology 🙂 I don't claim to know exactly how it's done but it could be that the hand sensor will also capture your fingerprint and the it will store the picture and the finger print in an online temporary database until another sensor captures the same fingerprint and then it pulls the associated photo from the database

Simply put, the pairing system works via Bluetooth or a network specific to Huawei phones. When you place the grip, the phone sees your hand, prepares the image for transmission, and connects to the nearby phone. They only change the means of execution.

Fascinating. I’m guessing Phone 1 sees an open palm✋ and it preps the image/file when hand makes a fist 👊. Phone 2 sees a fist 👊 so starts scanning which device was prepping to send an image/file then once it detects an open palm ✋ it is sent. I know it’s more sophisticated than that but this is how I look at this feature.

@@Go_F_False. Airdrop works with Bluetooth LE which everything uses from cars to smartwatches. It’s not constantly “listening” as it’s a low powered Bluetooth standard. This is some piece of software that is sitting on the phone itself probably using AR through the front camera to recognise when a hand is doing that gesture and then show that GUI and paste the image.

With airdrop you have to click on many things turn on blutooth, turn on airdrop, click on the photo, select box icon, click on airdrop, wait for other device name to appear, select other device name to finally Airdrop with Apple.
