He definitely didn't hear from God concerning his belief of Hell and this is a problem in the church, he said, "You had to perform in the pulpit." We have a lot of pastors, Apostle, Bishop, Elders, that are just performers and not qualified, called, or anointed to preach and teach the gospel...
.....and that’s where he went wrong. Perhaps he was more focused on “performing in the pulpit” than preaching the Gospel. I pray he comes to his senses soon. I really feel sorry for him.

@@josephbates7939 Not to be disrespectful, but you've got to do more research man. This is why i wish some of our ancestors were still hear to clear up a few things. It was not the original bible that was forced on to our people as slaves. It was literally a book called "the slave bible" which the slaveowners created by taking bits and pieces of the real bible and manipulating the scriptures to fit the narrative that they were trying to push. A lot of our people are confused about that, And use that as an excuse to not follow the true bible. We are not in slave times anymore. Go study the bible and greek mythology and other historical books, ask God to put the pieces together, and he will show you were all of this stuff comes from.

God does not judge. People do. God became I so I can be He. God experiences and expresses himself through man. It's only man who chooses how the spirit of God in him / us all should be expressed. Sadly people read and interpret the Bible literally. The Bible/Scripture is a metaphor.
God's judgement was placed on Jesus Christ. That is the good news. It wouldn't be good news to hear about my soul being damned to a paganistic hell. Look up tge origin of hell. I grew up in a COGIC church. Carlton experienced exactly what I experienced in the church. I was always being taught EVERYTHING was wrong!!! EVERYTHING! You can’t go to the movies, can’t wear pants, can’t wear make up , can’t go to games, believe it or not can’t wear jewelry, can’t can’t can’t or you would burn for ETERNITY in hell. The church would ONLY preach the damnation or the wrath of God.. Never the love of God. They used fear tactics so that you could want to be saved. These fear tactics do NOT SAVE!! Fortunately, the devil can not deceive me! God showed that he has a loving side as well as a wrath side. Through his word. More churches need to start preaching Jesus. Tell people how they need to learn and seek Jesus. Not rules, not laws, but Jesus. The Holy Ghost is a better teacher than ANYONE! So, Preach the Gospel!! The gospel can save more than your MAN-MADE rules or doctrine could ever. There are now youth that was apart of the COGIC, and currently these people have now believed that they can do ANYTHING and God is okay with it because he “knows the heart”. This belief is a result of religious trauma. It’s a demonic spirit assigned to this doctrine that Carlton preaches but it is also a belief constructed by the mind in search of the loving side of Christ. The devil saw Carlton’s vulnerability and sorrow and played on it. PLEASE STAY AWARE OF THE ENEMIES LAME PATHETIC but very sneaky and smart tactics. We’re giving the enemy territory because we continue to stay unaware or his lame attacks. Continue to know that, our spirits long to know ALL of Christ. Not just one side of Christ!!

Jesus died to redeem mankind from sin and death. He didn't die to redeem us from hell. Remember, no one in the old testament even heard of going to hell. They were taught that from dust you are to dust you will return. And the dead are conscious of nothing. Jesus mention hellfire as symbolic of everlasting death, as fire is a symbol of that. If hell were literal, then God would have told Adam this as a consequence for eating of the forbidden tree. Instead he told Adam that he would die as punishment for this. People who think that there is a literal hellfire interpret the bible as a physical man and not as a spiritual man.

The biggest flaw in Pearson's doctrine of no hell is that it destroys justice. The same sense of justice that lead him to feel sorry for those suffering in Africa, is the same sense of justice he should have towards evil. Now he's got a conundrum, where are Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, serial killers, and baby rapers? If he's claiming everyone goes to heaven then morality doesn't matter because there is no justice. And people like you LOVE that message because it means you can do all the dirt and evil you want without consequences.

SwordofManticorE Jesus does not wish that ANY should perish and neither should we. That's why He died for our sins ao no one will have to go there. Hell is about avenging EVIL. Its about the devil, his imps and those who serve him. God loves us and paid the price for our salvation, but He will end evil forever in the lake of fire.
Not all Christians are like that, and I'm saddened that the ones you have come into contact with have made you believe this way. But Christianity is a personal journey, no one else should stop you from accepting the promises that God has openly offered to you and everyone else. Those who joke and deny Hell only do so in their sins.
When he said his grandparents are in hell for being sinners shows his lack of scriptural knowledge. The only thing that can send you to hell is not accepting the free gift of salvation, purchased by Jesus' sacrifice for our sins on the cross. This is the Gospel of the grace of God.

Most of people go to church to hear about blessings, but don’t admit that there is a hell. Our love for God must be pure , don’t just say God I love you, and do everything you ask me, but in front of you wear another dress, and when you are alone you do whatever you want. God sees every corner of your life... Admit it or not the heaven and the hell is real.
We are taught in Scripture that Love hath no Fear for fear is torment, yet we are tormented by the auspicious teachings to Fear God and Hell . . . does not anyone question for themselves as opposed to parroting that which we are taught by others who also have never seen, tasted nor touched that which they wish you to believe in . . . the machine works well doesn't it ? Kudos Carlton for not fearing to express that divine question which resides in all souls . . .
Of course because those in Christ are in perfect love, no longer afraid of punishment because we know Christ was punished for our sins on our behalf. Whether you believe in hell or not is not the issue, but whether you believe in Christ for the remission of sins. There isn’t a single scripture that says “believe in hell.” I don’t even see a scripture warning against those who teach there isn’t a hell. We preach Jesus Christ & Him crucified.
The bible say's in John 14:6: "Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." Now I do believe this in my heart!
So, I came upon this, and read it as it relates to Heaven and Hell, (one Theological point of view):
He said, according to the free will view of hell, the purpose of hell is to respect the choice of the damned not to be with God in heaven. Finally, according to universalism, there is either no hell at all, or only a temporary hell.
The concept of Hell came from: The modern English word hell is derived from Old English hel, helle (first attested around 725 AD to refer to a nether world of the dead) reaching into the Anglo-Saxon pagan period. Is Hell in the bible?
In the King James Bible, the Old Testament term Sheol is translated as "Hell" 31 times, and it is translated as "the grave" 31 times. Sheol is also translated as "the pit" three times. Dr. Mortimer was not the first person who located heaven somewhere in space. Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints (the Mormons) wrote that a heavenly body known as Kolob was “nearest unto the throne of God” in the celestial heaven. Whatever Joseph Smith meant by that, he seemed to suggest there is a heavenly realm in outer space. Others have located heaven in the star cluster Pleiades. Where is Heaven: Jesus’s ascension, then, was not a “vertical take-off” but an assumption of his office as earth’s rightful ruler. Based on the Book of Revelation, premillennialism holds that, following the end times and the second creation of Heaven and earth (see The New Earth), the New Jerusalem will be the earthly location where all true believers will spend eternity with God. The New Jerusalem is not limited to eschatology, however.
All this suggests that the answer to the question, “Where is Heaven?” it's: closer than you think.
Whats really scary is Carlton Pearson is a smart man who can quote scripture without a even thinking and can provide history and context...where he loses me is the fact he does not differentiate good from evil...No moral absolutes..he only states there are consequences for certain decisions whether bad or good..can you imagine if our secular founders did not create laws...there would be civil anarchy...

This is not suppose to be a surprise for Christians if knowing what the words of God say.the word of God telling us it's going to happen in last day.
I don't have time this morning to state all the obvious reasons it's perfect, but #1, it was inspired by a perfect God. And #2, it never loses it's relevance. Those facts make it not only perfect, but brilliant.

God is the One who planed the salvation of all through Christ. What He planed He will do in His time and way. "Who will have all men saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:4 (KJV)
5:50 "BE good, BE godly, BE holy, or else you go to hell." This alone shows that Carlton had a basic underlying misunderstanding of the Gospel. The Gospel is the "good news" about what Christ has done for those who would put their trust in His completed work. His acconts of his grandparents also shows that he grew up with an understanding that Christianity was a system of works. Playing secular movies sends one to hell? If so, none of us have any hope.

I knew Carlton in the early 80's really thought a lot of him. My heart was broken for him when he departed from the teaching of the scriptures. Somewhere along the way he quit listening to the guides of the Holy Spirit and gave heed to a seductive spirit. I love Carlton, but I can not condone his teachings.
I am a former Unitarian Universalist who experienced the de facto holy God of the Holy Bible and his concomitant consuming fire who said in psalm119:89 "Forever your word is settled in heaven. That includes the verses that show His eternal wrath reserved for the ungodly. The miracles I experience disabled me of my a priori atheism in 1984.

I love Bishop Carlton Pearson and his teachings. It's more love based and that's what I love. I think I go through hell and not to it.
I believe in hell because God believes in hell. If you believe in God and all the things he has said, why don't you believe in hell? That said there are many interpretations of the Bible. There can be many interpretations of the same text by our pastors, ministers.
I disagree with the Bishop but I believe in his right to have his own interpretation of the Bible and/or his religious beliefs.

I was taught hell all my life but I've heard both sides of the story. I'm truely not sure if hell is real or not. It's ok not to have the answer for everything. I think that one of the biggest fears of the church is that they don't have the answer for everything.
My advice? Read the scripture. Get in God’s word. Discover it for yourself

@BigE7 But, unfamiliar to the Christian majority, the word "hell," in the entire Bible was actually translated from four unique words: Sheol (where the dead are located), Gehenna (a valley in Jerusalem used for dumping & burning refuse), Hades, and Tartarus (place for devil & angels; not humans).

The word "torment" in verse 23 is the greek word basinos, but the word translated "tormented" (Your version has the word "agony")in verse 24 is the greek word "odunao." This word means "pained" or "sorrowed," but not in the sense of PHYSICAL pain, it's more EMOTIONAL pain. Example: Luke 2:48. When Joseph & Mary lost the young Jesus, and subsequently found Him, Mary said that she was sorrowing over him. Same greek word odunao listed there.

I did not ask to be born into this world of sin. Yet, I'm required to make choices that affect my eternal destiny. I give my money to the robber because he holds a gun to my head. Many chose to worship a God who holds a gun called HELL to their heads. Thus, worship ME or go to an eternity of fire and suffering. It's funny we want to blame Adam & Eve, but what you don't realize is that sin would have eventually crept it's way into the world, if not by them by someone else, maybe even you. That's not what the Bible asks us to focus on. We are to be joyous and rest in the fact that God sent Jesus to atone for that sin, that everyone commits. The fact still remains that Heaven and Hell both exist. There can't be a reward without atonement or a consequence. Wake-up people, be dead to sin and alive in Christ.

The darkness in hells is different, because you have a whole new spiritual realm you are dealing with. Same with the light of heaven. Holzer was expressing an objective realization, the experiencer's subjective. Your anger simply proves that God is still speaking to your heart, & you're doing all you can to fight against it. But, the fact is, God is not through with you. He is still reaching out to you, trying to show you that you mattered enough for Him to die and rise for your sins. Today, do not harden your heart. Ask the Lord to show you, and He will. Whomever you are, Jesus loves you.

@Dottie1973 I totally agree. I have been to different services and the ones that are all about performance I have a hard time taking seriously. It needs depth and content. You can wisper or stand still and if the Spirit of God is in it, it will change people's lives. I was at a Gospel service in Kandahar, Afghanistan and the leader of the men's group got up to speak. He told the story of David and Goliath. And He fed the congregation w/o performing. By just having the spirit of God in his words

Thanks for sharing this! Back when I was a church-goer I went to his church back around 1990. (I even wound up sitting next to Christian Pop Star 'Carmen' the last time I was there. Both of us were there with our moms.) I'm so proud of Carleton for giving up his cushy gig with the Prosperity Gospel for the truth that he found. I still remember the Sunday school morning service before Carleton preached. It was all about money. He hollered, "There's gold in Heaven but there's gold HERE too!" lol
"Hell" is neither a Hebrew or a Greek word (both Old and New Testaments were written in those languages), nor did it primarily indicate "a place of torment." Biblical translators actually derived it from a secular German word - spelled hel - meaning nothing more than concealed or covered. The concept of a demon regulated horror-house was indeed derived from that word, but it actually evolved from Teutonic mythology.
hell is not a place where you burn its a state of mind just like heaven. hell's an experience of stress and hardship to get where you want or where you need to be in life. everybody not exempting me has been to hell and back. some have not been so lucky. let's thank GOD we're still here
