    I never had to stand next to someone I loved and sing about cheating on her or breaking up. They were performing, reacting, processing, reminiscing perhaps about when things were right, wanting to walk away, wanting to please an audience, and who knows what more. Great talent, great performance, but a very personal insight into lives of people I never knew. Nothing in today's music or performances come close to these era of music and performance.

      Perhaps but how much of their time was spent high on any and every form of escape known at the time. Being like that most of time may well destroy any sense of perspective and all that matters is what's in front of you in the moment. Stevie Nicks later admitted she routinely woke up next to someone in bed that she did not remember meeting. One wonders how everyone kept so thin!! I remember well people who had that look.

    • @Chris-z5c4q
      @Chris-z5c4q 2 месяца назад

      Absolutely, but do keep in mind that Lindsey surely hurt Stevie much more than she ever did. He was abusive; both emotionally and physically. Not to mention Stevie had to baby and provide for him before the Mac years. She worked as a waitress and cleaning lady while he stayed at home, jobless. While both were toxic for each other, villainizing Stevie is definitely not the way to go.

    Wow, my band "Make No Heroes" a lot of the songs were written about a girl that the bass player and I mutually knew. But I cannot "Imagine" being in the same band with that person and writing songs about the situation. Maybe that is what makes FM such a great band they inserted their humanity into the songs putting a signature on the heart of the listener / writer / band mate vs just signing a song. I have written many songs but have never had the emotional intelligence that I believe was present when they were pumping out these `Awesome` tunes. Great Stuff.

    Great song... That being said, I do not recommend going your own way while driving a car like I did the last time this song started playing on the car radio and I went my own way down a one-way street... People weren't too happy with me. Do not go your own way! Go the way the road signs tell you to go.

    For such a killer song - and as great as he is - why didn't Lindsey follow this same template for song-writing in the future?...aka driving, thumping, hook-laden, power guitar bliss? This song was the first and last of its kind from Lindsey.

    here's some background to set the mood. Lindsay wrote ALL of this song, even air drummed for Mick this drum fill he wanted for Go Your Own Way. Lindsay got the idea, when he heard Rolling Stones street fighter man..and wanted that same drive...to get his pissed off 'ness through with the lyrics. Linday wanted Stevie to fell his distain for leaving him..when Linday included these lyrics 'Shaking Up and Packing Up" meaning, stevie left her men for other men- is true. Hurting stevie on the radio, was Lindsays genius in everything about this song. man i love this frigin song..swear to it!
