To be fair, she wrote far more songs about him after their break up and he had to perform every single one with her as well! But that's what made Fleetwood Mac awesome... the real feelings behind the music. So powerful
This performance is EVERYTHING - the way Stevie is looking directly at Lindsey while singing and the story behind the song in the first place. Fleetwood Mac was basically a soap opera on wheels during the seventies 👀

Perhaps but how much of their time was spent high on any and every form of escape known at the time. Being like that most of time may well destroy any sense of perspective and all that matters is what's in front of you in the moment. Stevie Nicks later admitted she routinely woke up next to someone in bed that she did not remember meeting. One wonders how everyone kept so thin!! I remember well people who had that look.
Absolutely, but do keep in mind that Lindsey surely hurt Stevie much more than she ever did. He was abusive; both emotionally and physically. Not to mention Stevie had to baby and provide for him before the Mac years. She worked as a waitress and cleaning lady while he stayed at home, jobless. While both were toxic for each other, villainizing Stevie is definitely not the way to go.
Back in the day a great 3 1/2 minute song, played live, turns into an unbelievable 6+ minute masterpiece...Seeing this in person is mesmerizing...Kids today have NO idea what they missed...The raw energy, talent...
I didn't appreciate this band enough when I was younger (currently 46) until I picked up a guitar and really started listening. this song hits SO hard, and Lindsey Buckingham can play the sh*t out of the guitar!! the whole band is SO talented.
It's because of their real raw emotion. The bassist married the keyboardist and guitarist and singer were lovers; and both relationships were strained and ended but the music went on
I just can’t with the rhythms of this thing. I don’t think it would be possible to find a song with more syncopation that everybody just hits! One of the 70s best!
So much emotion from Buckingham! Amazing!! Songs nowadays don’t have feelings put into them like then and I bet half the artists nowadays don’t even write their own songs
The current songs don't say anything. Only show the female singer in lingerie and showing skin more than it should, like selling lingerie at a recital. And if he is a male singer, they only show their inflated anabolic skin with a naked torso. What a shame!!
Lindsey Buckingham is a fucking rock star! I never noticed. I've always just paid attention to Stevie and the drummer. What an incredible band, the bassist is an all-star too.
Yup - always an afterthought for me, but after seeing this - amazing charisma, what presence! Rolling Stone piece (from late 70's) ranked him one of the world's top 10 guitarist.
I agree! The guitar has more grit to it than other versions and while the 97 version is good, it's a beat too slow and a lot less grit, so that R&R feel isn't there as much.
One of the best "Fuck You" to an ex song ever written. Stevies lacklustre tambourine playing on the video can't be put down to lack of cocaine at the time in all fairness. All said and done one of the best bands ever, lived a life I can only ever dream about...
O I am sure she purposely acted differently and as dull as possible for this song because she hated that shacking up line. Her way of getting back. You will also notice the last half she is hanging around Christine and John is over by Lindsey, girls sticking together and guys sticking together since both couples split.
Stevie hated this song - especially that "shacking up" line in the 2nd verse. So I can see why she's just throwing her little onstage tantrums whenever they have to do this giant hit onstage...
