When your voice is your instrument and you can compete with a jamming amplified guitar and sound amazing you must be Stevie Nicks. She doesn't have a pure voice like Karen Carpenter but instead she was blessed with a unique, raspy, demanding to be heard rock-n-roll set of pipes that nobody has ever matched.
@superbobbytaylor6072 Well, I'm not a music expert but the rhythm section of Fleetwood Mac was always considered good and that means John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. I suppose he's not John Bonham, Keith Moon, or Neil Pert. It's all a matter of taste I guess

John McVie: "We're about to make a video for one of the most popular, most famous, classic rock songs in music history....I better put on my best cut-off denim shorts for this one"
Stevie Nicks has something interesting to say about this video as it was originally part of a movie of them performing different songs and interviews in between. She mentions the clip was just them practicing in a rehearsal hall and their was nobody in the seats. It wasn't meant to be an official video for the song. It was just filming a practice as they were probably getting ready to go out on a tour and wanted material to review. Probably why John is just wearing shorts. Thank god they had some decent recording of their amps and mics going on. Stevie just shrugged her shoulders when told how much play the clip was getting all over the world. Really goes to show how on top of their game they were at that time period, especially Stevie.
also the fact that this wasn't the original recording PAINS me - the power of Stevie's vocals in the final riff changes the entire song in the best way
This performance is an absolute masterpiece. I get chills every time I watch it. Thanks, Christine for the historical music you and Fleetwood provided. RIP

If you ever do start that discussion group, let me know here! With a name like ObiWanGinobili anything you do is bound to be interesting }:8)
Taken by the sky. Rhiannon found power in the wind
This is by far the best version of this song, every member of the band was on fire giving it 110% and Stevie just brought it home, absolutely amazing!!!
And performed in an empty studio.
One of the best performances I've ever watched. My goodness

Brings tears to my eyes as a song and words bring out the super powers within my conscience subconscious and superconscious
No need for auto tune when you have this much talent. The first woman to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame twice !!
When the band goes into the final of the song it's like Stevey Nicks is like no I'm awesome and you can't top me and she shows them they can't 😊
They were an awesome band but only one voice carried that group !!!
Janis Joplin could possibly have held the stage for those last crazy bars of Rhiannon.
@@edrobens5145 she carried her voice during Woodstock when the rain shorted out the ampliers to keep the show going. Some people actually thought they had it fixed when they heard her singing !!!

Fleetwood Mac isn’t talked about enough in the ‘best bands of that era’ conversation. Stevie is the best live performance probably ever, and Lindsay is one of the most underrated guitarists in music history. Rock on!!! 🤟🤟🤟
The fact that they’ve had to replace Lindsey Buckingham with two guitarists is testament to how great he is.
thats because they aren't one of the best bands

True medicine !! Good Luck 👍
It's so rare that a moment like this in time comes together, especially with bands from the 70's. You can see Mick knows it's about to happen and then it happens and Stevie is probably not even aware it did because she's gone somewhere else during that time. I feel so privileged to see and hear it.
Excellent comment.
I saw the same thing. Mick knows it is a special moment that might not happen ever again

This was the rehearsal for a live performance on The Old Grey Whistle Test. It was so good no further version was recorded. It is truly fantastic, the best version ever recorded.
Yes, just heard Bob Harris talking about how he and his OGWT team were in Burbank to do a feature on the band, and happened to record this rehearsal version of Rhiannon, which (and I have seen many others) is the best version of Rhiannon ever recorded. Stevie is just amazing.
this version is very similar to the midnight special version though?
@@jailime Very good question.
Do you know where i could find the audio recording pleeeease?
@@FS-tt5zi I have tried unsuccessfully. So far as I know it is not even available on OGWT publications. The nearest I could find is on the Fleetwood Mac Live double album, recorded during the Tusk Tour in 1979/1980, and I think Rhiannon was taken from the London leg of the tour. Hope this helps.
RIP Christine... Beautiful lady, beautiful voice, beautiful spirit!!

This song is for my sweet, sweet boy who passed from this world to the next 2 days ago. He was 37 years old and had special needs. There is no one this earth that LOVED Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks more than him! He saw them twice in his life and had the BEST time! Rest well, my Angel!❤
So sorry for your loss. I'm glad your son had the chance to see Fleetwood Mac - they are great live

Love the way Nicks drives this to insane levels from 4:48, she takes the band with her, even Mick Fleetwood looks in awe of her at 6:05!!
She certainly went somewhere and I wish I could go with her. I might not come back.
shes wild but cmon brother at 6:05 Mick is balls deep in remembering the next beats while hes high as fuck on coke
the slight vibrato in her voice is what makes her singing so beautiful
There is something about Stevie, I can't explain it she's magnetic, she's sooooo beautiful and just oozes something unexplainable
her voice is haunting!!!!
Shes an actual witch... They are all illuminati nembers! Shes very good at her craft! Not saying this for anything other than facts! All celebrities are illuminati and the music celebs worship the Baphomet! Look at the illuminati recruit webpage. Anyway she is my absolute favorite singer. Being in the illuminati doesnt mean they dont have to work hard cuz they do. And her voice is magnificent! Fleetwood mac is my favorite band of all time! I named my little black kitten Rhiannon. She's a year old in June. I love Fleetwood Mac
I have known this song since the album was released but this was my first time seeing it truly live like this. I was in gooseflesh and in awe by the end at the raw emotion displayed by EVERY member onstage . Stevie was feeling every note, Mick's face was that of a wildman, Christine was almost in a trance, incredible.
I am 36 years old, never seen this before, and got to say this is the best live performance of a song ive heard. Wow. That performance from a female vocalist surely cannot be bettered, that is everything!!! Amazing.

@Ricky Parker - Hell yeah brother. They took out all the stops.
@@brewsterly2927 - That one does rock. Slicker camera work, same non-LP version as this. But Lindsey’s solo is sorta halfhearted (and half as long), and somehow Stevie doesn’t quite cut loose for the last couple minutes. She almost does, but it’s like: Nah, it’s daytime, I’m gonna keep a little in reserve. Whereas here, it could be some club in the middle of the night, and the whole band are off their t*ts. Just my opinion :-)

One of the greatest live performances ever captured on film, it’s not often you see a drummer trying to keep up with the vocalist
Right on!!!
Ya, her voice , a greath instrument.

Mick Fleetwood doesn't get the respect he deserves as a great drummer
I’m a Liverpool girl and I’ll say he’s 10 times the drummer that Ringo Starr is.
You have got to be joking?
@superbobbytaylor6072 Well, I'm not a music expert but the rhythm section of Fleetwood Mac was always considered good and that means John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. I suppose he's not John Bonham, Keith Moon, or Neil Pert. It's all a matter of taste I guess

3:10 brought tears in my eyes - the power in this performance is like no other
also the fact that this wasn't the original recording PAINS me - the power of Stevie's vocals in the final riff changes the entire song in the best way
