I have seen the Mac in Concert 5 times and in each concert, they start the show off with the Chain. It sets the tone for the whole rest of the concert. The Mac has a sound that is simply mesmerizing at times. There are unquestionably in the top 5 of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.
Totally agree. There are just so many great guitar players that it would seem easy to get lost in the crowd and not get the credit you deserve. I mean I can name 10 people off the top of my head who most people would recognize as 'the best' and not even consider LB.
I love how Stevie is showing the audience who broke the chian. The fury in them both, but especially her, is plain to see. And love Chrstine for being the peaceful presence amidst the rage and heartache. Outstanding band. how did I miss all this, they were one of my favourite bands !
She left him. They were having a fling at this point as well. She broke it off (again) when she found out his then girlfriend (now wife) was pregnant with their first child. That's the rumour 😂. Poor old Stevie has been bitter ever since.
Just watching Stevie face her body AWAY from the crowd and sing directly to Lindsey.. chills. This whole show was filled with rekindled anger, hurt, and passion and I love it
She wrecked an astonishing band because she was having a temper tantrum, I don't love it. Yes, she's an incredible singer and writer, but so is Lindsey Buckingham (as well as an amazing musician). She should have been a grown up about it. Her body language just shouts, "POUTING CHILD" to me.
@@shanonrowland4953 I mean he was physically and verbally abusive to her over the course of their relationship. So I would say there was some merit behind her feelings
@@l.christinejones8164 Underrated guitarist... because most don't know about his skills on the guitar. He's never in any top lists (of course Lukather isn't either and he's one of the finest guitarists to have picked up an ax).
@@l.christinejones8164 Uhm, I'm 44 years old, grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac, in addition to Lindsey's work with Stevie before... I'm far from just discovering Lindsey Buckingham. Look at the lists and where he ranks. For example, he was at 100 on RS top 100 guitarists of all time... And look who was put ahead of him. Look at where he ranks on other lists as well. He better than the bottom of a list, and he's overshadowed in some eyes by guitarists with lots of bells, whistles and frills rather than looking at his ability, innovation, rig and technique. In addition, people that know Fleetwood Mac don't think of Lindsey (only those true musical connoisseurs who truly know all about the band know Lindsey's contributions). When the average Joe thinks of guitarists, they think of Clapton, Hendrix, Van Halen, Slash, (or God forbid Page) etc because they've been in the limelight and given the label of 'great'. In the case of Jimi and Clapton, that's true, of course. Of course, RS is pure bullshit anyway. For example, Kurt Cobain?? Laughable. Cobain was a mediocre guitarist at best. And no mention of Vince Gill, Jerry Reed, or especially Roy Clark, who was a true guitar God. Cobain above Buckingham. Stephen Stills above Lindsey. Everyone on the list is above Lindsey, and this is ridiculous. That, my friend, is the meaning of underrated.

I bumped into Mick Fleetwood in a shoe shop whilst on holiday in Sydney. I just stood there mouth wide open and he calmly walked up, towering over me, smiled and said ‘Hello, how are you,’ like he’d known me forever. I just smiled and said ‘I’m fine thank you’. I didn’t know what else to say!
Lindsay...what can i say. His playing will never get old for me. One of the best bands ever with so much talent and one of the best songs imo. Rip Christine 💕
I know everyone is revisiting Fleetwood Mac's music since the sad passing of Christine, RIP!!! But watching the way Lindsey Buckingham plays guitar is utterly unbelievable every time I see him play!!!!
Yeah IKR? Fleetwood Mac wouldn’t be the same without them both 😢(Lindsey is still alive. He got fired 4 years ago after smiling at Stevie while she was accepting the awards)
Hi Richard! Could you please tell me what form of recording you have because the cd I have is the worst recording that I own. Out of about 600. You would think a high end system would be a plus for this cd. Bryston cd, Krell preamp and amplifiers mono blocks. Thanks you so much. Oh yeah Thiel 7.2’s.
…my favorite part till this day is Stevie turning her back to the audience and looking over her shoulder and singing at Lindsey…and him glancing back.. and singing at her…unforgettable takes me back to 97.❤
@@gms77777that moment is so electric, intense and alluring. I was 13 watching this air on PBS with my dad.. he turned to me and said…they have history and laughed.😂 I had no idea at the time what he was talking about.😅❤
Yes, but they are also watching each other's lips to synchronise their harmonies. As Lindsay also has to concentrate on his guitar, most of that responsibility falls on Stevie.
Every live performance I can't get over the differences between Stevie and Lindsey's energies- no matter how long it's been. Her anger is so cold, with her glances at him (aka death stare) and his palpable, kinetic rage- the jumping, the yelling. Makes it even better.
She's the one that left him though. And then he wrote "Go your own way" and made HER sing about how she was "packing up, shacking up" and she's never forgiven him for it, lol.
Emily Rose it gives me chills everytime I watch this performance. I feel the glances and the rage makes my heart skip a beat. God I love Fleetwood Mac!
@ Emily Rose: Better be careful with the judgement on someone's glances, it's perfect a playground for your own preconceptions as long as you do not know the person more intimately in her/his usual gestions or facial expressions. Why not understand Stevie Nick's expression as "what a pity we couldn't do well together"? After all I've heard about their quarrels, my poit is: both Stevie and Lindsey are supersized personalities, just like many great musicians are, but they could have matched up to a real BIG LOVE, if they had not played in the same band. Unfortunately for themselves, but fortunately for the audience of "Rumours".
Love Stevie's gesture at 3:20, that crowd didn't know what they were witnessing that night, this version was pure gold, one of best I've ever seen, I'd give a lot of money just to see this One song alone played with this much passion again,
You are all forgetting it's the turmoil that made them who they are. They all survived and they still all loved each other even Christine McVie loved Steph AKA Stevie they are all pretty close regardless of all the drama that took place when they were on drugs and drinking😊
@Blunt33bdx seen them enough to tell you that you are SOO FUCKIN' Right!!! They rocked me every time every way every year I saw them up to now!!! 2023, everything about them was wonderful exciting and different EACH time!! EVEN without Lindsey, they can Rock like hell!! FM is one Hell of a Band!!
Absolutely agree. I picked up my love for them and many other bands that played before I was born (and after) from my parents. I wouldn’t take it back at all. I have a record collection I’m very proud of and would rather buy records then most shopping 🤩
My new girlfriend had this as an album and it was on repeat...I do not regret those times in fact I married the girl in 1979 seems like yesterday ,she is gone now but her music still makes me smile/cry cherish your loved ones, and love the music
I guess we are all here wishing we could go back to the late 70’s through the 80’s. I know I wish I could. My 26 year old daughter who listens to our generations music tells me all the time she wished she could’ve experienced it
Peace my 18yr old says the same. She loved "I Need you tonight" INXS. She is shy but actually danced in Target to it. We dont do that to more current songs😊
My son is 33 he grew up listening to what my parents broke me in on and a mix of my own generational music. So from Elvis The Beatles The Stones The Doors CCR CREAM Hendrix And so many more thru Aerosmith Fleetwood Mac Van Halen Skynnyrd just so many I couldn't name them all all the way thru Guns n Roses and The Grunge from Seattle music scene. And like I said he's 33 now likes 60's thru early to mid 90's stuff better than what garbage gets put out now. Don't get me wrong there are very talented artists today but you mostly have to go independent to find them. Dallas Green/ City and Colour is good and many others.
Not me. I was there. Now I can listen to that plus all the stuff that went before and came after. Plus music from all over the globe. In the 70's I wouild have had a handful of albums and a cheap record player to play them. In the 80's it would more been cassettes. Now I can see what led Zeppelin played at Earls Court, after I had to leave to get the train. and then go watch a band from Algeria. To paraphrase a line from Full Metal Jacket, we are Jolly Green Giants astride an ocean of music. Also, as with any decade there was also a fair amount of rubbish back then as well. Time filters that out. But it was there. What you might be missing is being young again. Nostalgia often filters the memories of that too. I'm happy with now. I go back and listen to stuff I grew up on (and I'm going to see 10cc in a few weeks time) but there is a lot of talent and superb music out there now, just a click away. This is more a reply to wanting to go back, not a reflection on the video itself, which was great. I think great music is great music no matter the time or place it's from.
The whole band sounds so good. Absolute top of their game. Those drums though. Rarely do you hear drums tuned that nice, and punching that hard. This entire performance has me picking my jaw up off the floor. No matter how many times I watch this, I always want to see it again.
Lindsey and Stevie are having at each other, Christine just plays the keyboard and doesn't really care, Mick is having fun, and John is just...playing the bass; that's the band for you.
I know you jest, probably.? This concert was way after the drama of all that. They did run into a little bit of drama this year when they kicked Lindsey out of the band.
I think it's more Stevie than Lindsey now, he's more focused on his guitar. Could also just be another part of the show. That they still have drama today though is freaking incredible
RUMORs came out 1977 same year my brother died. The album was such a big hit and overplayed and every time I heard songs over the years a bad reminder of that time. But one day I found solace in the songs the words and the singers. Christine McVie, thank you for all you did to give us such amazing timeless music!! 143 always
I get emotional watching this, because they’re just absolute class. One of those bands who actually sound better performing live than in a studio, because of their pure talent. ❤
Yes, just like Queen. Talent keeps the songs evolving and improving over time. No auto-tune, no backing track, just raw talent. Lindsey is a remarkable guitar player, and he puts this live track on legendary status.
Their album sound is quite great, but some of their songs get such oomph in the live versions. E.g. Big love is nice on album, but the live version is just mindboggling (albeit being a Buckingham solo).
This song is the essence of Christine McVie in Fleetwood Mac after Nicks/Buckingham joined as a duo. She was the lush warmth in her vocals that beautifully completed Lindsey and Stevie’s sharp tones. She also wrote most of their hits and sneakily was the lead singer, a lot, behind the keyboards.. which also ain’t easy. Amazing musician.
Christine was amazing and penned some absolutely lovely songs...but she did not write "most" of their hits (solo, anyway - the whole band is credited on many of their songs).
@@marialagerstrom6753 McVie was in the band singing long before Stevie and Lindsey even joined. Stevie and Lindsey came in and wrote and sang amazing songs no doubt, but McVie is right there with them. She didn't crave the spotlight as much, though. And as a keyboardist, she was busy on stage. McVie's big hits she wrote and sang include Little Lies, Hold me, Over My Head, Say You Love Me, You Make Loving Fun, Everywhere, and Don't Stop. She's no backup singer.
@@marialagerstrom6753 They were all lead singers. Stevie and Lindsey were the front men. Christine was a bit weighed down by playing keyboards. Christine around 33% and Lindsey 50%] Stevie's time as a lead singer grew on stage from 75-97, except for 87 when it decreased again, but she was never #1 in terms of songs sung as lead or co-lead. Even when it was just Lindsey and Stevie from 2003-2013 and it started out 50/50 he sang more because she always dropped songs from the set list and he didn't.

There is no Fleetwood Mac without Buckingham. Even if they have 4/5 members they still don't have their heart and soul and overall the best talent that the band has ever seen which is Buckingham. Truly the most underrated musician of all time.

I’ve never listened to Fleetwood Mac. But I stumbled apon this song, and I have ear buds max volume on. One of the best songs ever created. The ending and solo got me absolutely fired up and ready to run through a wall. The energy from the band and the passion is unmeasurable.
The first time I heard this song 1977. It was my favorite song of Rumours. And I heard it many times the day. And I still love this song. I love the solo and the tempo
@RIPSYY thats the great thing about music, you can discover it whenever, its always there. Plenty of bands I got into well after they were deemed "fashionable"
What a masterpiece! People love to pit them against one another and they had trouble getting along sometimes, but thank goodness they were able to create this art!
I often wonder if the incredible 'Rumours' album was so good in spite of all the conflicts going on in the band, or was it because of them? I don't pretend to know how an artist's temperament informs their art, but I do know good music when I hear it.
I can’t even imagine what it would have been like to see this concert live. The Chain. Silver Springs. Go Your Own Way. Dreams. And many others. 5 of the greatest musicians ever coming together and creating pure beauty.
This is the type of song that it doesn’t sink in how legendary it is when you listen to it for the first time. And the more you listen to it the more you understand that it’s one of the most iconic songs ever.
That was exactly my experience. I bought Rumours immediately when it hit the stores. I said "so what" when I first heard The Chain. By the time I saw FM in concert, about 2 months later, you knew it would get to the top 10. Yes, John and Mick are outstanding on this song.
It's a miracle to find people with whom you can play and make music as a band..it's like a marriage and certainly here for Fleetwood Mac. That marriage lasts and lasts through decades of love&hate, disgust and praise, misunderstandings and mishaps and everything at once. What a band....what a sound..we all took for granted.. somehow..we got used to it. And now they're gone....but we can still listen to the miracle and magic of their music!!!
This tour, in my opinion, is the best they have ever sounded live. I love watching it over and over, just mind blown how great they not only look, but sound.
No the earlier the better...all that falsetto w Stevie not knowing it would fuck her voice up is the best...100% reaction high as u want but unfortunately that kind of singing voice will fuck up anyone's voice
When Stevie wags her finger at Christine its in response to the news that Christine would be leaving the band imminently (thus breaking the chain). Christine returned to the Mac in 2014. R.I.P dear lady......... you made loving music fun.

My 5years old daughter loves Fleetwood Mac!, we have to show kids what real music is. I was born in the 80s so I just have the records from the best era of music.
John McVie is often overlooked in the praise for this live recording of the incredible song. His bass playing anchors the song perfectly, quietly, steadily and rhythmically ... all the passion swirling around his playing kind of overshadows it, but give a listen and appreciate his contribution.
The band's chemistry is undeniable, with each member bringing their own distinct style to the table. The harmonies between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are particularly magical and have become a trademark of the band's sound. Their discography is full of timeless classics such as "Rumours," "Go Your Own Way," and "The Chain." Fleetwood Mac's live shows are pure talent. They truly are one of the greatest bands of all time. I love them.
Man o man, does anyone else feel the intensity/electricity between Stevie and Lindsay when she looks at him? And Mick's intensity is off the charts! Man, this song can give me goosebumps. The electricity of everyone. And Christie's look is like, yeah, chains, man I've seen some stuff. But I love them all.
... and I must mention John's excellent bass, especially in this song! I love how the song hits a climax, then it comes down to just the bass and a little drumming, and then it crescendos to another climax. This is genius. The song's intensity takes you on a roller-coaster of emotion that complements the meaning of the song. What a fantastic band!
Rumours...for me one of the greatest masterpiece in music..just epic...It will last forever! Thank you Fleetwood Mac for giving me some of the best days of my live ! RIP Christine😔

I love how Stevie is showing the audience who broke the chian. The fury in them both, but especially her, is plain to see. And love Chrstine for being the peaceful presence amidst the rage and heartache. Outstanding band. how did I miss all this, they were one of my favourite bands !

Fleetwood Mac's whole career is pretty much one big Jerry Springer style fight, shrouded in mysticism and good music. Get your popcorn.

Lindsey Buckingham... Severely underrated guitarist, plain and simple. He played some of the most creative licks I've ever heard.
Almost a crime how much his skill goes under the radar
With no pick!
This is so true. When I learn his songs on guitar I'm like how did this guy figure this out himself. He is so creative.

Yes, but they are also watching each other's lips to synchronise their harmonies. As Lindsay also has to concentrate on his guitar, most of that responsibility falls on Stevie.
Stevie has relationships with the drummer also.. She no longer speaks to LB

It was a special time. The talent and the legacy will live on forever.

PURE magic. Their words, instruments and voices created music that was so powerful ~they channeled heaven and soared above their mere mortal problems.
All I saw was Stevie glaring at him. She was the one who slept with Mick, not him. 😂😂
Rumours...for me one of the greatest masterpiece in music..just epic...It will last forever! Thank you Fleetwood Mac for giving me some of the best days of my live ! RIP Christine😔
Lindsey is a guitar God and his vocals are out of this World. What a Band! Legend!

Yesterday, we said goodbye to my Dad one final time who has a massive F1 fan all his life. As I had the honour of carrying him into the ceremony The Chain played - a song that meant so much to us both due to the BBCs F1 coverage. This morning, my 18 month year old son, Dad’s last grandson, is dancing like a crazy man to this song in our living room - Dad would’ve loved seeing it!!!
This song is so much deeper than people will ever realize.
Stevie wrote it about Lindsey and made him sing it. She also sings it at him
@@bryanbjerklie4494 He came out with such fire at her though! He definitely was giving it back, but the looks she was giving him the whole time! 😳
@@bryanbjerklie4494Stevie was also with Fleetwood He was married to Patty Boyd at the time..
