Joe is the reason I picked up the guitar back in 1980. I found a James Gang album at my moms friend`s house. I had no clue what it would be like. I was laughing and rolling on the floor and diggin the tunes as well!!! My journey had begun.

I love Joe Walsh. I saw him perform with the Eagles in 1978. One of the greatest musicians to ever grace the stage however his Dynamic personality outshines them all for sure for real.
4/28/2023 What a great way to tell this story. It's nice to see and hear someone be honest and self abasingly funny about his former life. For me, I was in attendance when Joe and "The James Gang" played their last bar gig, at a club called "The Jail" in Strongsville, Ohio, the night before the went to record their first album. It was the first time `I ever saw or heard them too. I've followed Joe's career ever since, something I hardly ever do. We've been loosing a lot of folks recently, I hope Joe lives for ever, well, not really, just a long time to come. ;-)
- A friend of mine who died of lung cancer last year told me about going to see Joe perform years ago. He said Joe was very drunk and couldn't sit on his stool without falling off occasionally. He said Joe never missed a note and played perfectly. Total professional. Drunk but totally pro.
Me! Saw him in 78 for the first time! Saw him this year and will continue to see him as long as went both alive! The dude gets better with time! Who still listens to Joe Walsh...shit dude the whole fucking world!!
I'm 81yrs young. I just recently discovered Joe Walsh. Wish I had not been soo country. I truly love the man from back then, n now for sure. Can't get enough of him. 💖🎼👵
Joe plays with so much soul and feeling. Very emotional guitar playing. " In the City" is a good example. I listen to Joe's guitar on all Eagles songs, you can tell when he wrote the song or just a lick, or riff.
Ran into Joe at Ardent Studios in memphis tn, he was looking for his box for his 2 inch tape reel, he found it in the room I was in and he looked right at me and said "see, I TOLD you the box was in here!" I was starstruck and dumbfounded at 18 years old, Joe Walsh just spoke to me! :O
Joe gave me my first guitar lessons when i was 4 yrs old. it was a trade off for using my brothers silvertone amp when he played the bars of Kent State University. this was back in 1963-64. he turned my parents on to getting me involved in music fulltime, and now i can thank him for giving me a music career, though not a famous career, it is still a life in music that has paid all my bills since the 1970s. by the way...back then, he lived in a Volkswagon bus and ate a lot of bologna and mustard sandwiches. he couldn't afford an amp and was teaching local kids guitar to make extra money. i would love to contact him personally and give him a big thank you. doubt if he remembers that time in his life, but i do.
Met Joe sometime 1970-72 doing stage work at a JAMES GANG concert. Joe was really nice, but also really high. They were great, but you could tell Joe was special. So glad he cleaned up and life had been good to him. Love ya Joe!!!
Joe Recently said that "He and his band didn't know what they were doing on stage." I still don't think he fathoms how brilliant him and The Eagles were. Common I think with music artists of his caliber. Such perfectionists.
This is one of my mom's favorite songs. Thanks to her, I was exposed to some great music at an early age. I guess you could say I was rocking in the crib. 🎸👶❤ Thanks, Mom.... Miss you!

He would play records, do some live stuff and tell stories too. I don't think I ever laughed so hard as I did the mornings of that week! He has so many talents and as this video proves, storytelling is very much one of them. Love ya Joe, you're one of my all time favorite performers!
I absolutely LOVE Joe! He's such a genuine guy &I think even funnier sober. He & Felder together on dueling guitars was sheer magic. I miss that so much.
That was cool and funny to finally find out how that great song came about.. God that song brings back great memories of my and the boys (my dad my brother and me); and my sister riding on a long trip to it think it was Stanford springs for a swap meet.. and it had to be like near or after midnight and were all jamming to the radio.. listening and singing the long version of life's been good .. and just having a blast.. when I hear the song it makes me laugh, smile and cry for the memories.. God my parents brought us up right .. with the best of every thing especially our love for music... thank you Joe Walsh and all the other great bands that gave us the most awesome pantheon of music throughout our lives!! ❤🎼🎵🎶
Saw the Eagles on my 28th birthday at Riverfront in Cincinnati. The addition of Joe to an already great group was icing on the cake. The 70's were a total badass collection of rock.
Hey Joe! I'm pretty sure the first concert I saw (with my Mom!) was Joe Walsh Live at Eisenhower Hall at West Point where you played for an auditorium full of Cadets! It was either you or Weird Al and Dr. Demento, but definitely one of the first of many concerts !
In 1989 I was at the MTV music video awards in Los Angeles. Joe Walsh was there apparently he had decided the perfect vehicle to negotiate Los Angeles traffic was a combat tank. He was driving around the parking lot standing up in the turret. I was driving my girlfriend's brand new, white Pontiac firebird and had to lock the brakes to keep him from ploughing over the front of her car. That's my Joe Walsh story.😊
f-ing Joe, I flat-out love the guy. From early James Gang to The Smoker You Drink and The Eagles and all the great solo work, what a treasure. So glad he beat his alcohol problem. What a great guitar player, a seriously great player. Not just a player but a truly great musician! Guys like him inspired me to first pick up the guitar and 40 years later I just want to say thanks.
Wow Joe is such a great comedian, guitar player and what a great story teller!! Thanks so much for posting or we never would have gotten to experience this amazing performance! So glad to see Joe sober and kicking ass. Love this , thanks again!!
Used to listen to the .45 record of Life's been Good... when I was like 8 or 9 years old.. waaaay back then (near when it came out). I actually knew who Joe Walsh was.. BEFORE I had ever heard of "The Eagles" or knew their songs. So I guess I've been enjoying your music ... before I began to enjoy.. well.. Your music. :D Great to hear these stories... I still got that old .45 record. It's holding up after all these years I'm proud to say. It has survived countless hurricanes and disasters. Truly.. an epic record. Thank you for your music Mr Walsh.

I saw Joe Walsh when he opened for the Doobie Brothers back in the early 90s. He was far better than them, entertainment-wise, and it was one of the absolute best concerts I’ve ever been to. On the Navy base in San Diego. Eight dollar admission and two dollar beers! Crazy, right?
It was a Sunday morning back in about 1981 -- up on Sugarloaf Mtn in Boulder, CO -- and there was a knock on the door. I opened the door and -- whoa -- it was Joe Walsh. He said he had run his car into a ditch and would I help him get it out of the ditch. Heck, yeah! After about an hour of tires spinning and mud and snow flying all over the place we got his Mercedes out of the ditch. He shook my hand and said "Thanks" and motored on down the road.
I don’t always listen to Joe Walsh. But when I do, so do the neighbors.

As you live through life, there’s only a few that you actually connect with, in life or music, Joe is one...

Used to listen to the .45 record of Life's been Good... when I was like 8 or 9 years old.. waaaay back then (near when it came out).
I actually knew who Joe Walsh was.. BEFORE I had ever heard of "The Eagles" or knew their songs.
So I guess I've been enjoying your music ... before I began to enjoy.. well.. Your music. :D
Great to hear these stories... I still got that old .45 record. It's holding up after all these years I'm proud to say.
It has survived countless hurricanes and disasters.
Truly.. an epic record.
Thank you for your music Mr Walsh.
What a special guy! So fun and talented.

This man must be protected at all cost. If he goes, rock and roll will die.

One of the few rock stars whose hair actually looks better with age (and/or didn't cut it all off)! Way to go!
I got a mercedes outta the ditch,
Ain't never been there, they say it's a bitch,
Life's been good to u so far!😁👍
Awesome.
This is literally the greatest thing I've ever seen.
It is. He is great.
Love you Joe. Your writing, playing guitar, piano, and just everything you do is amazing!!!!!
