"I do not remember much of the 70s but it was easer to be 20 in the 70s then it is to be 70 in the 20s". Quote from Joe Walsh. I feel the same way at 69 this year.
I don’t think people truly know how much of a genius he is. He has this fun goofy playful persona that can mislead the casual fan how good of singer - player - entertainer he is. Killer.
I've heard his songs the 44 years I've been on this Earth but it wasn't til YT started recently putting him in my "recommendations" that I realized how right you are. Killer indeed!
So right! I've loved him since I first heard Rocky Mountain Way. Killer, indeed! Les Paul was a fan of Joe's, too. 🎸 I last saw him open- great as ever- for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on Tom's last tour... 💔 ✌
Well, see .... I grew up in the 70s, and I thought I knew the song word for word, but it seems I was wrong.... I always thought it was, "I have a limo, ride in the back, I lock the doors in case I'm attacked," but I just now found out that it's, "I have a limo, ride in the trunk, I lock the doors in case I get drunk."
This was the first album (8-track) I ever bought with money I earned sacking groceries at the local grocery store. It's just as good now as it was back then! Joe Walsh is and will always be a top-shelf performer in my world. Thanks JOE you totally rock!
I can only imagine how mesmerized the crowd was during this performance at this venue at that time. Such a fun song. Satire and reality lyrics combined with funky ass rock.
I saw Joe Walsh play at the Light Up the Blues concert a few months ago. When he played this song I was completely hypnotized - no joke! I remember snapping into the zone once he started playing the opening riff. It was perfect.
Harvey Mandel is still with us but is having health issues. A very young Eddie Van Halen went and saw him in the late 60s and his jaw dropped. That's where Eddie learned his tricks
My first concert was JOe WaLsh at the Beacon Theater in New York in the mid 80's. I was maybe fifteen. My friends older brother brought us there. We were a few rows back center. I am lucky to have had the experience.
Yeah Joe Walsh is one of the greatest rock guitarists ever and it's no fluke that he's had a pretty good solo career with some very good songs in the last few years 😊😅😮😂❤😊
Favorite single is Funk 49, I've wanted to hear that tune at least every few weeks for years and years. I could listen to whole The Confessor album again and again - it brings the good memories and the good feeling comes with it. Love ya, Joe
My high school football coach cranked this up in the locker room as we were getting dressed for each game. We had a lot of fun and had only one loss that year. We should have gone undefeated.
I was lucky enough to catch the If I Were President concert at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley on July 4th 1990. before the Eagles reunited. Looked like hell. Incredible performance.
Joe is one of those very, very rare people that can write, sing, and perform equally as well stoned or stone cold sober. Of course, sober is better for his personal health, and I highly applaud that. But I can't help wonder if the sober Joe would have left a double neck Gibson just lying on the stage to be kicked out of the way at 4:17.
Where did the time go to... I remember like yesterday listening to the James Gang and like many other fledgling guitar players, trying to emulate Joe Walsh and garage bands, music careers and now 73... where has it gone?
Michael McLoughlin Joe is fantastic, last time I saw him was 2016 In Lancaster, PA. First time was at "The concert for Peace" at Shea Stadium, August of 1970 or maybe in Flushing Meadow opening for Edgar Winter (He was in "The James gang" then) It's really hard to remember back to 1970. I turned 19 that year- I wish I could turn 19 again, it was a lot of fun.
I remember i was at a music festival and i was standing next to a guy who was catatonic standing up head back, mouth open. I was just staring at him and then i asked him, "you good man?" And without hesitation in total clarity he was like, "oh yeah man. Im just high as fuck right now." Some people can just handle it like champs, others wake up in other countries.
This is so cool, I've never seen this set before. Just imagine all the crazy things Joe Walsh has done in his lifetime, this song was so fitting for him.😂
You are a genius!! I always wanted to play piano. You are amazing…before and after substances.!!!!!! Linda Bundt. Always a fan. Wish I could afford to see u in person! Xoxo
Well I remember the 70s and God the music was so good I hated it when the Eagles broke up the first time in junior high school I ran this album into the ground but what none of us knew was Joe was not doing well from what I know the Eagles getting back together, the two Don's taking him rehab probably saved his life but as a guitarist he's amazing and during Hotel California and the tour Joe and Felder playing off each other there's nothing else like it but look at Joe's hands they are huge I can't imagine that it's not an advantage play the guitar he's always been great regardless of being solo or the Eagles or playing with Daryl Hall Etc he plays well with others finally life has been good😊
I wouldn't take a million dollars for the laugh I just had from what they did with the horn section five and a half minutes into this. Tears in my eyes. Thank you Joe. Keep rocking buddy.
I’d say it was due to his addiction to alcohol and Coke and who knows what else. He had some demons but man oh man he conquered those and now has a new lease on life! Good on ya Joe!
Shit.. he had Stevie Nicks sucking his dick and most of the world loving his music how the hell you gonna say that?!?! Dude was on top of the world at this point!!!
I love Joe, he was so impossibly Blitzed in this video, I'm pretty sure he melted that roland amplifier when he was turning knobs ....looked like he thought the amp was one of those old cigarette vending machines ! If you want to see a great example of his quick wit and sense of humor . check out vid of joe next to DLR at press conference
No music today compares to the music back then, even my grand kids listen to it.
Yes indeed Mr. Fix.
That's because you're old and live in the past. And its no wonder our youth hate old people. The have nothing to offer. Nobody wants you
You should explore more modern rock/punk if you think nothing compares.
