    Watching you eat a variety of healthy, nutritious, and balanced foods is honestly a much-needed breath of fresh air in the current times that we're in. The meals look fun and there's no talk of guilt or shame around food. Your dishes look so appetizing!
    I've been almost a year in ED recovery, and although it hasn't always been consistant (because recovery is hardly ever linear) I believe I'm in a better place right now; moreover, your videos are really helping to ensure that my progress continues. I (as are the rest of your viewers, I'm sure) am eternally grateful to you for keeping in touch with and reaching out to your audience.
    Thank you!

      So glad you are succeeding in ED recovery! You are so right that it is never a linear path. My ED didn't go away overnight and sometimes those thoughts still haunt me when I look in the mirror. But I am SO much better than I used to be, and it sounds like you are too. Keep on keeping on!

    FINALLY! A truly authentic “what I ate in a day”!! As a mother of two cooking three (mostly unprocessed ) meals a day I SO appreciated this! Particularly supplementing for things you’ve run out of and the last minute dinner change. Eating healthy leftovers, throwing a flax egg in when we’re too tired or busy to go to the store, not using the food processor because it’ll wake the sleepy babe. This is real life! Thank you for showing regular moms everywhere that life isn’t all perfect Buddha bowls and wooden utensils. 😘

Of course I try to eat what’s better, but the thought of most foods makes me want to gag, and the absolute biggest struggle... water, makes me puke if I drink too much too fast, gotta sip it so slowly 🤦‍♀️

    I am 7 weeks pregnant today and so glad I saw this video was posted!! I love all your food choices and have been dealing with some similar food aversions... but what's hilarious/inconvenient is how I get more nauseated by drinking fridge filtered water vs bottled water. I went from drinking my normal 3-4 liters of water(pre pregnancy) to just 3 and my lips+ mouth are all constantly dry. But THANK YOU for the disclaimer to not fret about eating mostly carbs all day, this is my second pregnancy ( miscarriage last year )and was concerned part of the previous issue was the processed foods I consumed....

I kept thinking about what you would say and I just had to eat what I could and sure enough, at like 16 weeks vegetables and all of my favorite more nutrient dense Whole Foods sounded good. Now, my cravings are sweets! Chocolate, cookies, cinnamon life. I do my best the eat nutrient dense foods but damn some days like today, veggies just aren’t cutting it.

    I get really nauseous too in the evening after I took my multivitamin and I found out after not taking if for a days the nausea went away. I found out that super dosing certain combos of vitamins together can cause bad nausea. (This is supported by some studies too). So maybe you just have to find the culprit in your vitamin regime and you can avoid some of the nausea you experience at the end of the day.

    You eat so healthily for the first trimester! I could only eat the equivalent of one meal a day spread out over three meals. And I had about five foods total I could eat. Couldn't even look at vegetables - seriously, if someone else ate them I had to look away. I would always eat saltines for breakfast. LOL. My baby is eight months old now and perfectly healthy, though.

    I would love to hear you talk about dealing with weight gain during pregnancy, and also about the weight gain guidelines! I lost 10 lbs before getting pregnant to get within my healthy weight range, and now I'm almost 20 weeks pregnant and have gained 12 lbs. I'm doing better than I did with my first baby though, which was 20-22 lbs at 20 weeks. It's still a little challenging mentally, especially since I have a history of disordered eating (restricting & binging).

      Madison Burke every day is a bit different!

    • @tropicaoptica
      @tropicaoptica 5 лет назад +5

      Madison Burke try ripe fruits (like right now citrus is really good), cold watermelon, and really simple meals. When I was preggars for a while I lived on cold watermelon, cotton candy grapes, little tangerines, steamed potatoes with butter and a little salt and pepper, or cream of rice topped with ripe banana slices, agave and almond milk. It was all about ripe fruits and easy to digest carbs. I used cream of rice for everything, including topping it with marinara and parmesan, or salsa and avocado for like simple and comforting savory meals. Most animal proteins always made me nauseous, but hard more aged cheeses like parm were fine. Eggs were a no way! I couldn’t stand them. I really tried to keep meals as simple as possible or I would throw up and it was getting exhausting. The simple method really helped though, and it seemed during the worst of it, it was basically the no salt sweet meals I had that kept me going. We spent so much money on pre cut water melon from the store but it was like the only thing I could eat first thing in the mornings. Then the next thing I would want would be the sweet cream of rice meal. Oh and I lot in a lot of greens by doing steamed baby kale (it was o my the baby kale I could do) with a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar to flavor. Being really hydrated was also really key.being pregnant really taught me to drink more water. Someone on a forum said it really helped for the morning sickness.I would wake and drink a liter (slowly while I did a morning yoga routine) and made sure to drink a couple more throughout the day which is still do to this day now.

For me it was after the hyperemisis gravidarum finally ended and the first thing my body screamed for was pop and chips (2 things I rarely have). Bless you for the bit about chips. I was racked with guilt during the first trimester because all I seemed to want were carbs -- and I was happily eating fairly low carb pre-pregnancy. It came out of nowhere and was a constant, driving need. Now I'm in the second trimester and can basically eat anything, so I'm getting back on the "mindfully healthy" train but I've had long moments of anxiety worrying that I "ruined everything" in those first 3-4 months.

    I'll be 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and it has been ROUGH. This was an unexpected pregnancy for me, I've been off work since January after deciding I wanted to pursue a different career, and then covid threw everything for a loop. So financially, physically and mentally this has been a difficult time for me.
    Some days for sure were mostly chips and grilled cheese, because the thought of eating anything else turned my stomach. I love the realness of how you said, "do anything you can to survive these weeks". So true.
    Also didnt know you were a fellow canadian!! 🤗 finally I am feeling *mostly* better and am able to eat somewhat normally! Waking up at 3am starving and nauseous is definitely relatable, and I too find the nausea waaaaay worse in the evening! The last couple nights I found going to sleep a lot earlier than usual to be very helpful.
    Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this! It made me feel a lot less alone in all of this 🖤 love your videos.
