    Had 2 biopsies on 6/22/23. Yesterday 6/29/23 I was told the results were cancer. I’m here looking to educate and prepare myself for what’s to come. We do (as humans) draw strength from each other. So I’ll take yours and run with it 😊
    Update: 11/22/2023
    Had my RAi I-131 on November 2nd. It’s tough. 2 weeks prior to it, I had to be on a low iodine diet. Essentially no milk products, no chocolate, no bread, no sea food of any kind (including sea items). The whole body scan was good. Only a trace amount out thyroid tissue was identified right on the bed of my scar. Dr says in 6 months (when I have my 2nd scan it should be completely gone. Strange enough is that on day 2 I started having episodes where I literally glow all over my face and ears. Happened yesterday at my dr office too. The nurse got spooked. They don’t know why. I’m seeing the nuclear medicine doctor next week. I hope he DOES know why. I get red and hot in the face in a weird way. My suggestion to anyone doing RAi……be patient and be prepared. Comfy clothes and pillows. A LOT of hydration.

    Do you have to take the calcium tablet as well for the rest of your life?

    • @thehappyartichoke3012
      @thehappyartichoke3012  2 года назад +1

      Hello! My surgeon told me that I did not need to, but as a woman my endocrinologist recommended continuing it because we are at risk for osteoporosis and brittle bones as we age. For me, it was the right decision to continue my calcium - but you might find that it's not necessary for you. I did not need to take the calcitriol for very long after surgery. I hope that helps!

    I am booked in for thyroidectomy due to Graves . I also have TED and need surgery for that too as have constant double vision . I’m still contemplating declining surgery and staying on ATD long term .. I’m so anxious and worried that taking levo for life will make me fat , bone loss and fatigue . There are risks with ATD too .. how are you now as it’s been a while since your surgery ?

    I just had a partial yesterday. I didn’t notice until I got home that I have 5 rows of two, what looks like little pin pricks. I’m thinking maybe it was an electrode needle. I’m gonna ask my doctor at my follow up why I have those pricks on my chest. Did you have any marks when you had yours out?

    • @thehappyartichoke3012
      @thehappyartichoke3012  6 месяцев назад

      I don't think so, but I wonder if you had some electrodes on and they irritated your skin? Based on the 5 rows of two it's a possibility!
