1:53 If I had faith in anyone in this celebrity cast it was going to be Mark Hamill. Of course he blended into the role, he’s been voice acting longer than Kit Conner has been alive
This is probably an unpopular opinion but I find Mark Hamill to be kind of hit or miss as a voice actor. A lot of his characters just sound like variations of his Joker voice but I agree that when he tries to do something different, he really does try and usually nails it.
Tbf I don't think Mark Hamil is really a celebrity voice cast. Like yeah he is a celebrity, but he's mainly a voice actor, like I think less than 1/3 of his credits roles have been in live action. I don't think we can really put him in the same category as like Chris Pratt.
He was the voice of friends lord ozai the original atla cartoon and mark hamill has done some controversial political things that I don’t need to talk about.

A shame the movies basically don’t treat the shows as canon, the other vikings just become more annoying with each movie rather than maintaining any development they get in the shows.
It's from a TRILOGY of books. I am reading the first one to my children and it's beautiful. I knew they would show the first 85pgs in the first 5min. And I was almost right, it took 3 😂.
The pacing was a bit weird, it FELT like a trilogy condensed in 90 minutes. Although I would have preferred a trilogy, if that's not viable then I'm perfectly fine with what I got. Solid 9/10 for me.
@@admiralweb27 If there were going to be two movies they should have spread the movie out a bit. Maybe have the greenhouse escape be the climax of the first movie and then introduce Vontra as the villain for the second instead of shoving her in at the last 20 minutes. Something that makes the movie even better for me is that they added small regional animation differences too. Thes really didn't need to do that at all, but they did anyway. They cared about Text that was on screen on a few seconds. Even without it is so beautiful. Was definetely worth the wait.
I agree! I just watched it in a Paris theater, and seeing the text differences was cool. Also the names are different, Brightbill is Joli-Bec, Roz is Rose (which I prefer haha). My expectations for this movie were impossibly high- I’ve read the book every year since it came out- but some (not all) of the stuff they did somehow exceeded my wildest imaginations. The animation was beyond stellar, and the scenes where Roz barely talks or is completely silent are incredible.
Watching this and Transformers One in the same day was very fun for me! I liked both of them a lot for very different reasons. It was almost like a mini barbenheimer!
Saw this movie in theaters and absolutely loved it, definitely some pacing problems but the heart and soul of this movie makes up for it. I went into this movie entirely blind. I'd never seen the trailers. Barely glanced at a poster. This just happened to be the soonest screening for a film when I walked into the cinema. And I was absolutely blown away
My overall thoughts on the movie is that the story was nothing special, but the visuals and imagery were absolutely breathtaking, the montage of roz going out and saving all the animals in the blizzard being especially powerful to me

Another DreamWorks masterpiece! The cast and characters are perfect, it's not afraid to show nature being as cruel as it is beautiful, and the emotional beats hit so hard.

It’s interesting to me that Dreamworks nailed the "painted CG" aesthetic 10 times better than Disney did with Wish, with only half the budget.
*Less* than half the budget, actually. Modern Disney movies use around 200 million dollars, while this movie only had 78 million. In general, Disney and the studios they own have been spending money carelessly. Not even blockbusters like Barbie or Oppenheimer had budgets that high

Both the children *&* adults in my theater were equally entertained and intrigued throughout The Wild Robot. Even cried in a few moments.
But since this sadly the LAST full DreamWorks film cuz all their upcoming features from now will be mostly made in other studios, I'm really happy they chose The Wild Robot to end on a high note.
Wait, fr? How come? Where did you read this?
Sucks too because dreamworks is really the only major studio trusted or come back from their movie lows. Sure they have bad movies but they have and will come back and make a masterpiece. I can’t say I believe in something Iike Disney or Sony to do the same thing. Would’ve put Pixar there too but with inside out 2 maybe they’ve got this

1:31 I disagree, I like the other Vikings like Snotlout in the HTTYD movies. They help make Berk feel alive. Plus they get more development in the TV series, which is highly acclaimed by fans and appears to be canon to the movies, unlike other Dreamworks shows.

the worldbuilding in that show was so incredible
If it wasn't for the show I would hate them
I love how they flesh out the characters is Race to the Edge.
A shame the movies basically don’t treat the shows as canon, the other vikings just become more annoying with each movie rather than maintaining any development they get in the shows.
Dreamworks's filmography is the definition of a rollercoaster, with many peaks and really low lows
And it’s not “1 good one, then 1 bad one.” We can never tell what will hit and what will flop until the trailers start dropping
@@Dairunt1Well they've confirmed a sequel is coming so the pacing is still really strange.

If there were going to be two movies they should have spread the movie out a bit. Maybe have the greenhouse escape be the climax of the first movie and then introduce Vontra as the villain for the second instead of shoving her in at the last 20 minutes. She's an interesting villain but severely underused.
Still, I adore this movie. It's an easy 9.5/10 for me; but it might have been even better if it were two separate movies with much better pacing. Specially with the things they apparently removed from the books.
@@Dairunt1that would have been a bit tough to do well. The gap between Longneck dying and the company coming to collect Roz in the book is not that big. The movie mostly cut the world/character building part of the book (which I think detracts from the story).
@@Dairunt1Well, the end was exactly like the book, with more added to it. Also, during the later half of the book, that is when they explain how Brightbill came back with his flock, and explained how they escaped from a greenhouse, and how one of the elder goose had died. This was not at the end, and it wasn’t emphasized in the book , more in the movie. They were just staying true to the source, otherwise, the 2nd movie would be the other quarter of the first book and less of the 2nd book.
As someone who read the book when I was younger in a DMV, watching the movie now as a junior in high school made me feel the most genuine wave of nostalgia I’ve had in years.

Not necessarily "original," since the movie was based off a book trilogy, but one thing's certain: they didn't cook. They prepared a feast.

Which reminds me, Blizzard should’ve pulled the Riot move and made their own animated series with the level of polish that OW characters gotten.
Same here! People in my online circles made comparisons to the first major story arc of Bionicle (robots washing up on the beaches of a strange island) which compelled me to watch the trailers. I’m so glad the movie delivered so well, I really hope Dreamworks keeps up this kind of quality
