I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago due to cancer. I am so tired of people saying to me oh that’s a good kind of cancer to have because all you have to do is take medication ! And of course I go and say seriously! Do you wanna know what it’s like to have no thyroid, days are good , days are bad , you have to have your levels done, and regulated. Once I wasn’t feeling good they increased my medication, I take armor, and after was doing well. About 2 1/2 months on that dose, I started having anxiety, heart palpitations, and my doctor said that I was starting to go into heart tachycardia. It was hell until my levels came down. So for those of you that think thyroid cancer is the best cancer to have, do not judge us
until you walk in our shoes. It’s life-changing and it’s forever!

I had a similar operation as you on the 1st Feb but only 3 hour surgery, still getting over the surgery. Most of the numbness is gone but still a bit of pain around the scar and the right hand drain scar (2 drains, left and right). How are you doing? I'm in Perth, Western Australia

    • @marcieraulston1

@@craigrik2699 To be completely honest I am miserable. I didnt end up with any drains but I did wake up from surgery without use of my right arm ( opposite arm of potential nerve issues). It has taken 2 weeks for me to regain about 90% use of the arm with sever and constant pain from the nerves. I can't sleep from the pain and nothing works to helps to reduce it. The doctors won't prescribe any type of pain medication so I'm stuck in the viscous cycle. My incision scar is 6 inches long and looks great, I have lots of numbness and pain to the touch mostly in my chin area. The doctors ended up finding 8 cancerous lymph nodes upon completion of the pathology reports. Hope you are doing well day by day. I'm in Arizona, USA

You sound exactly like what I've been experiencing. And just in the last hour of watching this, I had an episode that you describe. 5 years ago I had my thyroid removed, cancer in goiters and nodule. Just had a medication change from Armour Thyroid to Tirosint. Levels looked great. I'll be 50 in November and for me docs believe my hormones get wonky around my cycle and I'm perimenopausal...yay me 🤗 I was telling my husband that i hate feeling like this. It literally feels like I'm dying and it's very disruptive to my life. So I appreciate your take on it in this video cause its exactly the way I feel.

Hashimotos. Tumor on right thyroid. Surgery is on 11/25/20. They’re only planning on taking right side but may be TT if biopsy comes back cancerous. FNA biopsy came back undefined so they will know in the OP room. but WOW. everything you said is what I’ve experienced. every little thing. so thank you.

I've watched your story and I'm so glad you shared it. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in my early 20's with life and things that I just can't understand, my body has felt like it's in a constant state of fight or flight, or stress I guess and that's been for over a decade to where I can't even have a moment of peace, even in my own home. It's a whole other thing but I know how these things have to be harming my body. The way you felt after your surgery is the way I feel constantly and how I've felt for a long time...I know there's quite a bit wrong. I need to get into the endocrinologist but I've just been dealing. I wake up daily with a headaches that turn into migraines often, I have a goiter and I can feel the nodules. I'm not saying I have cancer, with other life things it's really hard to tell what is going on. I just know I need to get in to the endocrinologist and I'm glad you've shared your journey.

      @@84Elenai Hi Elena,
I'm doing well, thank you. My surgery went very well and my recovery was a breeze (I don't really even have much of a scar, which I'm almost disappointed about -- I feel like i should have something a little more to show for all of the stress it put me through). It turned out my tumor was benign, so there was no need for a second surgery. Emotionally I have no idea how any coping works because I really didn't have time to think since everything happened at the onset of the Covid lockdowns. I will say that I have a very supportive family and workplace, so that helped a ton. I was basically laid up for like a week and then I was perfectly fine. I hope your (hopefully only) next surgery goes well for you!

Hi sweetie I know exactly how you feel. I am in remission from a blood cancer called multiple myeloma. I had a stem cell transplant in 2017. I am on a daily maintenance chemo and while everything has been pretty good I always have the big C word in the back of my mind and it will always been something I live with 😭.
I am in school for full specialty right now and I am loving it but I have gained a bit of weight 🙈 and the last month I started having flashes in the corner of my eye. I went to the dr and they tell me my retina is fine and my eye looks ok but the only thing I can think of is I am straining my eyes in school. So now I am anxious about that. I am praying nothing is wrong with my eye! I have a channel and I did health videos too.

I’m so glad I didn’t decide to have mine removed, although it’s seeming to be more and more of a better option. I hate having these symptoms. Getting an ultrasound tomorrow due to my doctor feeling a “lump” on my thyroid. Two months ago I had blood work, it showed hypothyroidism, had more blood work one month ago and my numbers jumped. I already have lupus so this is just a bummer. Went and put me on thyroid medicine last week.. I’m definitely nervous about the ultrasound. I know a lump could be non cancerous but it’s definitely a thought in my head😬 wishing you nothing but the best and you feel better!💕

After searching through many blogs i found yours.
I feel the same way you described.
Its almost going to be 2 years now.
I went through 2 surgeries one one 1st April 2019 and than total thyroidectomy on 12 july 2019.
So many panic attacks, anxiety and calcium deficiency. Not finding ends to this. Consulted many doctors but no relief.

Hi, I was searching for voice after thyroidectomy and came across you, I am 3 weeks post surgery and sound exactly like you did prior to vocal cord surgery. I also having breathing issues and make like a noise when breathing, I feel like something is blocking my throat and is vibrating when I breath heavy. Anyway I was hoping you can do another update on your voice and anything else you've had done, I'm so upset I wish I never had the surgery now, the breathing issue has impacted me the most, I can't sleep due to the noise, can't exercise like I used to, they've wrecked my life 😭

You need 3 hours gap between levothyroxin and any kind of calcium. Food or suplement. It's on the leaflet from your levothyroxin that taking it in less then 3 hours gap effect both your hormons and calcium levels.

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 11/2018. I was at stage 1. I got my thyroidectomy done 1/2019 and as of 6/2019 was officially cancer free. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I take my meds everyday and struggle with weight gain due to it. But y doctor is not concerned since my thyroid levels are so good with the dosage I am on. I also always fear when I feel something wrong or different with my body a sense of omg, is it a new cancer? Is my cancer coming back? What else could it be? But like you said and do also is go to my doctor and he usually talks me down. Lol. He checks everything and orders whatever I need to ease my mind. 😂 Glad I found your channel ❤️

Have they checked you for adrenal issues. I had the same problem until they got me on cortef for low adrenal problems. When you're not producing enough cortisol, you will have surges of adrenal at times to make up for low cortisol. I had everyone of your symptoms, but now have a great doctor who has help me so much. I'm also on t3 and t4 because a lot of people can't convert t4 to active t3. Your test results might look good, but without sufficient working adrenal glands you won't be able to get the thyroid you take into your cells, you'll have big time issues. Read the book stop the thyroid madness. It's a great book for people to read, it really breaks down how everything works. If you have adrenal issues, you'll have anxiety attacks. 😃🤗

My general practitioner is the only doctor who helps me. I’m taking .2 mcg of levothyroxine and like 15,000 mg of calcium. Along with anxiety and depression medicine because of my surgery. I have had to go to the hospital on average twice a month since my surgery to get calcium iv. I’m just distraught because this all happened because a doctor lied to me and said I had cancer. And removed my thyroid completely and damaged my parathyroid permanently. I twitch all the time now and I don’t sleep regularly which before my surgery I could fall asleep and stay asleep. Also I wake up in the middle of the night because I’m starving. It’s just been a huge nightmare.

One of my endocrinologist in the past said that I would because my body and no longer had anything to attack but historical I have not had a good experience with endocrinologist so I take what they say with a grain of salt and would rather ask people who have actually had a thyroidectomy.

While I don't have thyroid disease or anything like that, I do have anxiety and Catastrophic Thinking (yes it is a thing lol). I've had the Catastrophic Thinking since i was a kid. Like you, my mind goes to some dark places, the absolute worst case scenario thinking. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older and even worse after having my daughter 4 years ago. And it's really sucks that most if those dark thoughts I have now always involve her and everything and anything that could happen to her. My husband who suffers from Bipolar and Anxiety, told me last year that he finally understood what it was that my mind goes through. We had had a lot of fatal car crashes in our town within a month time span ( I HATE being in cars or having my daughter it husband in a car), and 3 of them involved cars crashing into the aquaduc here and one involved a mother and all 4 of her kids, three of who died with her. That caused a lot of anxiety and dark thinking in me, but my husband said his mind went there in thinking what if that was us in the car with our daughter and he played out the whole thing in his head. he said he finally understood what I go through. And yes it sucks SO bad to have these kind of thoughts and feeling and to never truly enjoy your life or the things you are doing in life because I always have these bad feelings and thoughts in the back of my head. all these WHAT IF'S....I hope everything can get figured out for you and you can get back to being yourself. You know you can always talk with me 😊💖

    • @MichelleRother
      @MichelleRother  4 года назад

Giving you the biggest hug right now. Dealing with all of this isn’t easy. It’s draining. I can absolutely relate. It’s almost like those feelings and thoughts are always there but when I’m in a good place mentally I can combat them easier and move on. But if something’s wonky mentally or medically ( for me its my thyroid meds) its harder to combat them and I get a bit frantic with my thinking. It interesting and frustrating to see ourselves go through that change though. Sometimes I can watch freaky or graphic movies and be like whoa those were cool FX and such. And other times it kinda haunts me and will pop up throughout the next week or so. Like it’s not just that night sleeping under the covers kinda thing it’s for a while afterwards.

I'm getting mine removed on the 24th of August. Luckily it's not cancer but I have a 5cm goiter that has pushed my trachea over. I'm not looking forward to it.

So you don't know what's causing these symptoms even though the cancer was removed and you're on medication? I want to know what causes the symptoms to persist after treatment.

Do you experience hairfall after total thyroidectomy?

Hi - I had thyroid cancer 10 years ago. My doctor removed my parathyroid glands (even though they say they regenerate if damaged) accidentally ...I have been struggling with low blood serum calcium for 10 years. I've tried everything I could afford. No change. So I get the tetany, tingles, pins and needles, twitches, heart racing, restless legs, cramps all the time. But the alternative was worse, I guess.

I take vitamin D and calcitriol everyday . Do you take these and still have issues ? I only have issues if I skip or forget to take them too many days in a row. Parathyroids can repair themselves if left in the body. Mine just pooped out on me. He said he left me two of the four but who knows I guess

@@MichelleRother Yes - I am supposed to take 150 mcg calcitriol and 2000 mcg calcium daily. But like you - I forget to go back to them 1 hour after I take my 175 levothyroxin (which I never forget to take) . My endo wanted to put me on natpara (sp?) shot but that cost like 12k!!
