Today I am here to tell you all about my total thyroidectomy surgery.

I want to start off by saying that I am not a medical professional. I am not writing this to give medical advice. I am sharing my health story friend to friend style to raise awareness of this condition. Please see your doctor for proper care and medical attention.
I have been told, by my doctor that I may have Thyroid Cancer.
Now, don't freak out ! It's going to be ok. I will explain everything.
I am having surgery on November 8, 2016. If you are watching this when it is first posted then I am most likely in surgery. Your love, hugs, prays and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated !
UPDATE: Surgery went well. I am currently hanging out in my recovery room. I did end up having to have my whole thyroid taken out ( thyroidectomy ) because the nodule tested positive for papillary cancer. I'm not even sure exactly what that means or what further treatment I will need. All I know is burping used to be funny and it is not funny right now lol ! In quite a bit of pain but I have an ice pack on and reading all of your encouraging comments are honestly helping me get through the night. I will update you all in a video as soon as I am able to talk. My voice is weak and I just sound like I have a really bad cold. Which I'm sure Logan is getting a kick out of me not talking his ears off for once ;-) I am staying positive and trying to keep a smile on my face. After all I am not the only one out there who has ever had to deal with this nor is it something I can change. Again thank you all for the support. Will update more soon.

Just got to my recovery room a few minutes ago. Thank you all for your beautiful messages. He did end up taking my whole thyroid out because I did test positive for papillary cancer. Pretty tired at the moment and extremely sore / in pain.

My neck hurts, throat hurts, I feel it hard to swallow, sore throat that doesn’t go away. Depression, weight gain, feeling cold all the time, hard to concentrate, having periods every 3 months, ear pain. I kept going to the doctors and he kept dismissing my symptoms. Hi there, my thought and prayers go out to those who are going this 😢 me to are going through, with the same symptoms, my thyroid is growing what feels like is spreading to my right of the thyroid, I feel the lump there when I swallow, its increased in size since 2018 , yet bloods I had few weeks ago said they were normal.
I'm cold all the time , weight gain , weak on my legs , fatigued. Thin hair , weak nails , dry skin . not much of appetite. Puffy face . pain in the back of my neck , depression. Fatty liver, well distended gallbladder.
I'm having scan next month. Thyroid is slightly throbbing.
@@debbyantoine I had they symptoms and they said my thyroid levels were fine too. I had a nodule it was large and when they did a biopsy it was inconclusive so had half my thyroid removed. I feel so much better now

I just recently found out I have thyoid cancer too and you literally talked and mentioned all the thoughts that were going through my head and the feelings I was having. I want you to know, even now you are not alone. And now hearing your story, I know I'm not either. It took a lot of courage for me to even tell my family and friends. The fact that you had the strengthen to do so on such a big platform, is inspiring. You got this! Now I feel like I got this too. 😌
Try to set your mind up with autoinstructions like "I'm gonna have more vigor, calm or relax etc." while being focused on a task(physical exercise is what helps me the most) to deal with pain and also while being in a positive, right mind with uplifting statements can make wonders for you its how I deal with anxiety and other chronical diseases I have. If I wouldn't do anything of that I would have committed suicide a long time ago so I can relate better than you think.
I was.diagnosed yesterday.But im working at a city far from parents.And i won't tell them the fact. Waiting for operation now.Helpless

Just had a biopsy because they found a growth on my thyroid. I'll get the results in 2 weeks, and it's going to be a long 2 weeks. I had been feeling terrible for the past 6 months or so ,and I finally went to the ER. They decided to admit me and ran a lot of scans and they found it during an ultrasound. No matter what, I will be ok because God has me. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I just subscribed, I came here from one of your beauty videos when I recognized your scar as the same type my mom has. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your experience and being so vulnerable with your audience. It's so important people are aware of thyroid cancer, I rarely hear about it outside of my family talking about it. I also wanted to say that you are SO strong and have such a great attitude, which is so difficult when you have depression. It's great when a channel has good beauty tips but even greater when the content creator is real and shares their struggles and shows people they're not alone.
I was just diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. How I came to it was extraordinary. It started with an incidental find on a CT scan of my chest that I insisted on getting after suffering a second bout of atrial flutter in 3 months. It noted a 1.1 cm nodule on my thyroid. (NONE WAS FOUND ON THE FIRST SCAN after my first episode) I brought it to the attention of my healthcare provider. And I had an ultrasound done. It confirmed its presence and noted one other nodule and several suspect lymph nodes. I had two biopsies done. The first was inconclusive. In the second one a month later, 1 out of 6 samples came up positive for PTC. Subsequent biopsies on lymph nodes came up benign but elevated levels of thyroglobulin were present.
I have no family history of thyroid cancer. I have no apparent symptoms. (A causal link to my atrial flutter was not established. But it is possible). And I am male. Females make up the majority of cases by a 2 to 1 margin. I have had a lot of difficulty in processing this too. It was an incidental find that started with ME asking questions. I wasn't even looking for it. I don't know if I could consider myself extraordinarily lucky or not. Winning the cancer lottery isn't my idea of having good luck.
What were your symptoms pls
@@Pris_Darko No apparent symptoms. 2 nodules were found incidentally, both were small. One 1 cm nodule and 1 .5 cm nodule. Although it is possible that my onset of heart arrythmia may have been related.

Hello sweetheart I love your video you are very brave young lady, I have thyroid disease for past 47 years and I took one of my glands out now I have to go for more test for biopsy next month I have appointment to find out if I have Cancer I am scared...but your video give me hope and can go trough and have peace with myself. Hi Michelle, I had the same symptoms, but I didn’t want to be told “it’s your anxiety”. I had bloodwork done TWICE, because they thought the numbers were wrong. My second bloodwork labs came back today and as I walked into the clinic, my PA goes, “we’re going to schedule an exam for an ultrasound.” I had my ultrasound done a couple of hours ago, and now I’m at home laying down.
It’s funny because I just woke up from a nap and this is the first thing that comes up on RUclips....😅

Thank you the inspirational video. My wife finally got it checked and the doctor is 90%sure it’s thyroid cancer. She’s emotional, but I’m trying to take good care of her and wish her the best.
Hi I just found you channel. I just found out that I have a 2.5cm nodule with a TR5 highly suspicious nodule. I go for a FNA biopsy in a couple days. I’m praying for the best.

Hey girl I just wanted say your videos helped me so much! I just had my thyriod taken out yesterday and I have watched your videos over and over to not be so nervous. They just wanted to make sure I didn't have cancer bcc I had 7 nodules but when they went in my thyriod ended up being wrapped around my esophagus. The surgery went good. I'm excited to see how much this surgery helps me and I just want you to know how much you helped me!

Hi Michelle! I came across your videos while doing my research. I too have recently received those crazy news that I have papillary carcinoma. Just like you mentioned, I didn’t know how to take it. I have been monitoring my nodules for years and had always gotten the nodules are benign until this last biopsy. I have my surgery on July 27, 2022… that’s in about 3 weeks. Thank you for sharing your journey. Your video was very helpful and it gives me hope. I hope that your thyroid cancer journey has gotten much easier. I will view all your videos.

I’ve got one similar size but on my left side. The chances of being cancer is low so I’m not worried. But I’m much older than you. So lots of things need to be taken into consideration. Hope you are well and from what I can see recovery and cure is very good. ❤️

I'm 17 years old and we don't have that Much money to afford the Thyroid biopsy and everything😭, i had the discomfort and huge lump but kept on not showing it as years pass, i'm just hoping me and my mom would borrow some money and get checked up since it is Covid here and we can't go outside, i'm starting to breathe heavily but as long as i can handle it, i will for my Family😭

I had my right side remove and 3 ms ago I stared feeling sick again ,doctor check and theres another lump thereand is big. I go in for a biopsy on the 9/19/17. they think is cancer..please don't let no doctor tell you ,,theres something but we will keep an eye on it...like my doctor did..if you don't feel right just get check...I hope is not cancer but I do have a big history of cancer in the family..thank you for sharing..AGAIN if you don't feel right,get your self check..

Hi Michelle. I just saw your video for the first time. I am 58 years old and the other day I was looking in the mirror and noticed that one side of my neck looked swollen and when I feel it it does feel much different than the other side. I made an appt with my primary doctor for this Monday June 6th. I have a history of thyroid cancer in my family. My mothers sister and two of my cousins have had thyroid cancer and had them removed. I’m so scared! I don’t know what to expect. I will continue to follow you and pray for you.

Hi there, hope that you’re completely recovered and you’re in good health. I am literally going through the same thing and I’m having the exact same symptoms. For now, I’m waiting for my very first biopsy. They did say theres some malignant nodules but they have to do a biopsy first.

I'm a year out ! I had my Thyroidectomy Jan.25/15. I am on synthroid 137mcg. I discovered my nodule in 2009. Also PTC
Oh my! I had the same issue in 2014 I had to do radiation as well. I'm now normal! Good luck and listen to your doctor, also I love you accent 😜.
Thank you for taking the time to tell your story: mine: i have had 2 f. Needle biopsys, 3 or 4 mon apart. 1.5 and 1.6 centim. Last one in dec. 2018 shows no change..ive had no thyroid medic issues or need to be put on 1. Am diab (2), and have stage 3 kid disease and bipolar and take lithium for years along w other stuff.would love to chat w you.
I just first wanted to say thank you for sharing your story. A couple days ago went to see my primary doctor for a physical, and I had also caught a cold... my doctor examined me as all doctors do during a visit, my doctor told me that my thyroids needed to be checked my appointment for my thyroids is April 13th 2017 I am concerned but I know that I'm in Jesus hands and everything will work out.. according to his will, I wish you the best of luck

Why do doctors says the thyroid nodule is usually benign but i saw lot of testimonies that their biopsy result cameback as cancerous? I'm kinda confused...

Sorry to note you are having thyroid cancer. Please try taking about 3 pinches of turmeric powder in a small glass of warm milk ....3 times a day....turmeric is an Indian spice that not only removes the cancerous tumors but also stops new ones from forming. Do not take turmeric if you are on any blood thinners. Also avoid anything sweet. Please consult your doctor too. All the best to you dear....shall pray for your speedy recovery.
I'm having surgery next week. I have four nodules, two are large and one on each side. Biopsy showed cancer or precancer on one side. Surgeon wants to take the whole thing out. I'm scared. Zero support at home. Husband doesn't care. My oldest daughter will stay for a few days, she's a nurse. I finally am looking up stuff, which I never have time to do, and all I see is bad stories. I don't feel great now, I don't want to feel worse after surgery! I do everything around here with raising the kids and the house and work. I got emotional when you did over support because I'm being made to feel like this is no big deal. Kinda scared! Anyway, thanks for the video and information.
Hey, I am so sorry to hear about your cancer. I am going through the exact same thin you did right now. My appointment is Feb. 22 2017 I am so nervous and afraid of what they are going to tell me. I have the nodules on my right side and the thyroid on the rights volume is 17.75 while the one on the left is 7.57 :(

I also have gone through the same thing as yours. Discovered it last feb 2017. Same feeling as yours not fun. Biopsy says not cancerous which is the best thing, but wanted to take it out. I was positive I had throat cancer & was depressed for weeks because I feel like my throat looks weird and tonsils are swollen and I have tonsil stones that won’t go away. I’ve been to the ER twice, had sooo much blood work which I’ve tested negative for more than once, have had my lymph nodes checked and even went to an ENT. they all said the bumps were normal and not tumors. I even asked if she can take a sample and she said that there was nothing to take a sample of, explained why it looked that way. Though I do eat a lot of dairy, which I think I’m allergic to and have horrible anxiety(which I heard causes swelling in certain parts of the body). Weird though. Swear to god I thought I had cancer. The human body is weird 😳

I'm dealing with the same results too Darling my doctors told me I'm going through thyroid cancer I think my weight loss days are over. Since I went to my gastrionologists in McComb back in march they said everything look fine except for the stomach lining. I been having acid refluxes and I'm dealing with that too. Well yesterday they told my mama I was told I have thyroid cancer now. I'll be praying for you. Tuff serious stuff girl its the end times we need to be aware of everything we eat and drink!!!!!

I was just diagnosed with the same thing and I'm going to get the thyroidectomy as well soon. My lymph nodes have also become swollen which is when I first realized something was wrong. Thank you for this video, I hope everything is well with you!

I had pain at my appointment today when my doctor was palpitating my neck (the right side). She said, "okay, we are scheduling you an ultrasound appointment."
Interesting that you said about sleeping positions. If I sleep on my right side, I feel like I have a hard time breathing. It feels like food gets stuck in my throat.

Oh my gosh! I hope you're doing well now! I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism 5 years ago. I had two ultrasounds a few years apart. My recent ultrasound showed a small nodule on left side of thyroid. But they said it's benign. I hope it will never turn into cancer. I actually made a video about it. Too. I had a swollen lymph node. How are you doing now?

I was losing weight then started gaining again, my thyroid started feeling puffy and I felt like I'm being chocked, still feel that way. I've had blood tests, ultrasound and I have some nodules on my thyroid that I will be getting a biopsy in November. I have a video up about it.
Try to set your mind up with autoinstructions like "I'm gonna have more vigor, calm or relax etc." while being focused on a task(physical exercise is what helps me the most) to deal with pain and also while being in a positive, right mind with uplifting statements can make wonders for you its how I deal with anxiety and other chronical diseases I have. If I wouldn't do anything of that I would have committed suicide a long time ago so I can relate better than you think.
@@caliente2512 I had the biopsy and it was clear then had my removal surgery and they did find a small cancer on the side they didn't do a biopsy on. Luckily it didn't spread and it was removed.

@Carmeleah Ocnaidoit hello and I wanna start by saying I'm sorry your mom is having trouble. Mine was multi and came back benign but after the surgery they did find a small cancer. I hope things work out for your mom, thyroid issues are not fun and biopsies are a pain but I don't regret getting it removed one bit.
I’m feeling better after hearing your story! I just had a fine needle aspiration biopsy. Unfortunately, mine came back positive for papillary carcinoma. I will be meeting with an ENT this Wednesday and Endocrinologist next Wednesday. How are you doing now!?!

I feel ya, I have anxiety and depression and just overall poor health I feel, I have a lot of those symptoms but I have a lot of symptoms of a lot of diseases and a lot of times it turns out to be just dehydration and lack of nutrients, but hopefully it all works out girl! love ya, God bless.

I was diagnosed 2 yrs ago. Endo said can't operate cause i prob wouldn't wake up from surgery. So here I am 2 almost 3 yrs later still have cancer can't do any treatments because of my lungs from covid.

Thak you so much for being so brave and sharing this with us. Do you have trouble swallowing? I've been having trouble swallowing at least 3-4 times a week and food of course, keeps coming back up. Food gets stuck in my throat at times and just won't go down. Keep up with us and tell us what's going on. Hopefully, everything will be all right.

I have a thyroid nodule and my neck is in so much pain everyday also I've noticed I'm my cheeks are always red and flushed, I really want it gone it's causing me so much discomfort and I'm so worried
