- This audit takes place outside this Raising Canes Chicken location, I had various interaction while documenting , from customers in line, employees coming out to question what I was doing & why, along with an individual who approached just as I was about to wrap things up, There was also a copwatch that took place just next door in the bank parking lot.

The police shouldn't do a drive by either. It should end with the 911 operators. They should have a statement they have to read to anyone calling about auditors and then end with a warning about this is a number for EMERGENCIES.

@ashleywilson5673 That's why I said it should be a statement that they read. That statement would need to be approved and should be read for these types of calls. I've seen videos where the 911 operators let them know over the phone, and the police don't come out, and they go back in their business.
Speaking from nearly 10 years experience as a 911 operator, you can dispatch police for a dispute, or suspicious person depending on what the caller states.
Positive change is happening -- many illegal policy signs have been removed from public buildings and folks are getting the education they were denied in schools. Besides, it's safer to harass a camera person than to confront an actual no good crook.

I’ve heard this said a lot but it’s not entirely accurate, but a false equivalency. It happened to news cameras mainly and it was to bc they want to be on TV and people still do that. Not many people went crazy when they saw someone filming privately on their own cameras. And even when they did, thousands of people worldwide never saw it so we would never have known about it to have that as a reference for auditors in present day. I love auditors and their work but this recurring comment doesn’t hold much relevancy in my opinion.

We live in a world where there’s cameras EVERYWHERE. Private businesses, public businesses, out in public areas, ring cameras, cell phones. Yet they are uncomfortable with that one camera. It’s bizarre. It’s beyond logic. Then they walk up to the only camera that makes them uncomfortable and tells the operator of the camera to stop. Why can’t people understand that if you’re out in public you’re most likely being recorded. If not your camera then by the other 100 they pass every day.

You should let these employees know that if they call the police and the police violate your constitutional rights, you will sue them individually and their corporation along with police for whatever physical or emotional damage they cause by their actions, whether directly or indirectly.

So, why do quite a few people documented in 1A audit videos believe photographing or video recording minors or children is a crime? Do they actually believe it’s a crime or is it the mere inference of the recording of “underage kids” supposed to “scare off” someone documenting in public? So basically, with no respect for ANYONES rights, the ignorant party calls the videographer a “pedophile” in hopes that will offend them and scare them off. We’ve seen it numerous times. I even saw a 1A audit video at a church where a father went 50-75 yards and picked up his 4-5 year old son and carried him over right in front of the videographer, less than 4 feet, and held his child in front of the camera for several minutes while he and a friend accused the videographer of recording children while on the phone to the police. They believed by doing so, I assume, this made the act of video recording illegal. Ridiculous. Child abuse, in my opinion. Why do people believe these insane things? This country is in serious trouble due to the widespread ignorance in general.

When I was a kid at high school, one of the classes was called, Moral Social Development..... I always had a giggle, in and about, the very name of that class.
It was just a religious education class, hiding, behind the façade, of the MSD title.

They always want to bring up minors in a attempt to brand the auditor as a pedophile, because they know they can elicit a mob-like response if they can get that fire started.
Based on hundreds of these videos, I believe that most people who warn against recording children have a good-faith belief that what they're saying is true. However, it clearly is not true, and the presence of children cannot be used as a legal deterrent to recording from a public place.
I actually looked it up and typical fast food staff at that time is around 10 in a restaurant like that.
So 25% or more of their staff were outside doing nothing, confronting a person on the sidewalk. I'm sure the customers appreciated that.
Not to mention labor costs $$$!
I hope Raising Canes Chicken corporate see this video. Those employees have embarrassed the company, as well as wasting time. Three people spending 10 minutes is a half hour's salary wasted, and it should be taken out of their pay. Three is an attempt at intimidation, and one of those persons has exhibited extremely aggressive behavior.
And I am 99% certain that the creepy guy at the end was a boyfriend/partner to one of those employees. Raising Canes Chicken should seriously investigate that, because if my assumption is correct, at least one employee is using outside muscle to intimidate law abiding citizens.

It goes further than that. Their cameras are on PRIVATE property so they can do whatever the hell they want. Labour laws may require them to get their employees to sign waivers, but the general public has no expectation of privacy either in public or in a private business like this.

Some crew members can't be recorded because they are too big for the camera's lens.
They eat a lot because the cameras make them uncomfortable.
Nor can they see because of the enormous fake lashes glued to their eyelids.
You need an IMAX camera to record them...

The only reason they use minors as reason for violating your rights is the same reason that we have 20 year old minors in this country, 18 year olds are adults by law but you can't have a drink until your 21. They also did the same thing with tobacco products. Those same types of people think the same trick works when trying to violate your rights. If you give them enough space we will have 25 year old minors in this country if it fits the moral foundation of the first person that turns it into an issue.
I can imagine the job interview for a fast food employee. Interviewer: "Occasionally you'll need to go out to the sidewalk to harass people filming, are you ok with that?"

There already is such penalties for reporting a false report. Instead of the cops arresting or ticketing those people, they hate anyone who doesn't bow down to them more so they won't waste any time going after them since they bow down to cops.
The police are cowards. They LOVE calls like this as they know there is no risk (officer safety). So they get to roll up and waste an hour, call for backup, stand around, etc. Then go home and tell their buddies how brave they were and how they got to throw their weight around. Bullying the public is what the police are trained to do. Instill fear and make them compliant.
If "Caines'" profits at this store are down, I can suggest three employees to watch carefully!

All these people, have no problems when, private corporations, dashcams, worst of all the government, film them, going about their normal, private, lifes, but a person filming from a public area, is just one step to far, as far as they are concerned.
I think they approach you, because they can use you to vent their inner concerns, about being filmed all the time.
How strange, that at the beginning of photographic history, people practically begged to be in the shot.
Now, with cameras, being all around them, they now have a problem being in front of one.

For me it was the opposite. I never liked being on camera and would do almost everything so I wouldn't be recorded, but that was when I was a kid. Now I'm an adult and I can care less if I'm in camera. I still don't like it, don't get me wrong, but I dont do anything to get out of view.

Raising Canes is a large corporation, very professionally run. I'm sure this post will cause emergency retraining at this location, perhaps a few dismissals for employees that can't learn.
