"Turn It Off...Why Are You Taking Pictures Of The Building?"

- This audit takes place on the public sidewalk outside this metal fabrication company in an industrial part of town. I was minding my own business taking photos & video as I always do , when I was approached by multiple people throughout my morning. The first was a woman who came out (who kind of resembles Maggie Gyllenhaal & Lynda Carter combined) stated it was an odd place for me to be recording & was curious about what I was doing. She returned inside not before getting on her phone. A short time later, a couple guys from the business across the street came over asking if I was a First Amendment auditor. I don't typically like to say what I'm doing during the audit, so I played along with him asking what a First Amendment auditor was to get his take on it. They retreated back to their business across the street afterwards. A while later , a 3rd individual approached me asking if he could help me & told me to shut off the camera & asked why I was recording the building, After some time , he finally went about his day & left me alone, not before meeting with the two individuals further up the sidewalk ,who earlier asked if I was a First Amendment auditor. They were possibly discussing the situation , as I kept my distance & zoomed in the best I could with my camera.
After concluding the audit, I was approached by another individual asking for my social media outlets...My guess is he was fishing for my info which I wasn't going to give out that day.

“I only go where the lawyers tell me to go...”
That should get them to shut up quickly.
Only where OSHA tells me to go
It’s annoying when people ask if they can help you and there is no intention of helping, they are either curious or Nosey.
They really want to help you into a cop car, or a grave.
yes if it was a homeless person needing help they wouldn't ask that..
"I don't answer questions, but on the rare occation that I do, I only respond to people that ask genuine questions. You have no intent to help me."
Or...
"If you're going to interrogate and depose me on the sidewalk, I'd like a chair and a Coke, please"
Yep. How does you being curious help me?
Nothing wrong with curiosity, but inevitably they go way further than that.
a perfect example as to why you should always be wary and never give out your details even to a 'friendly'
All the people there are SO friendly. Random strangers roll up on YOU and offer assistance.
WHAT A PLACE
We are picking up your sarcasm ;)
All these people walk like it’s the first day with their new legs.
I was an architect and produced a couple of hundred buildings over 40 years. If anyone ever took a picture of one of my buildings I would probably get emotional with gratitude.
It’s also a great way to show how u run a biz, what u offer, and how ego nvr mixes with daily biz.
You're so right. I always wonder why anyone would be upset at that. They have the perfect opportunity for free advertisements and handle it in the most awkward and aggressive way. Boggles the mind.
They are fearful probably for security reasons, though unfounded in this case.
Always wondered how "can I help you? " equates to "I'm just curious".
That's his intent - to arouse curiosity. No confrontation. Nothing to see here, folks.
"Can I help you?"
"Yes. Can I get an apple danish and a large coffee? Cream and two sugars."
"Ah, no."
"Then don't ask if you can help."
Great response to "can I help you".
People standing idly staring at someone is ACTUALLY weird.
She wanted to be filmed. Why would you try tell someone else what they should do?
I think playing golf is weird.
Watching people play golf is also wierd!!😂😂
Making stupid comments is weird
@@terryfortney6595 welcome to the club.
I enjoy watching the people gather and brainstorm on how to do something…about nothing.
It's amusing how these people legitimately think they are so clever....well, he wouldn't tell ME anything ....let's send another employee out there....oh, same result...let's send a female employee out... they'll surely talk to her...😂....of course proving that these clowns all know the person filming isn't dangerous.... because if they DID think there was actual danger... you're a complete scumbag for sending a female co-worker out into harms way.
They put their hands on their hips like that’s going to make it better. Her with hands on her hips. Do they think that makes them look more important?
LOL, well said!
Exactly
I just love how "Can I help you?" continues to be used in place of "What the hell are you doing?". They never actually want to help.
I answer with, "Yea the warehouse is short staffed. Report to Tony."
Chris...if anyone ever asks, "Who are you with "..... look carefully around you and with a worried expression ask....
YOU SEE THEM TOO??
Hi, girl....Happy Saturday and thanks for providing something to go with my coffee ☕ 😊
Wish I would have come up with that!
Seeing that two employees walked out of the gated area of their business. As it states on the gate that everyone should have to wear a hard hat beyond the gate. It just proves that they were not complying with the company’s policies on health and safety in the workplace 👍👍👍
Imagine if Chris was an osha investigator..
That is definitely an OSHA violation and findable
The fact that that the one guy thinks mainstream news protects the 1st amendment shows just how skewed his thinking is.
There's nothing like walking in front of somebody's camera and saying that you don't want to be filmed.
I wish that when they ask " how can I help you?" They would really want to help!!
Ah ! You brought the community together. Your civic duty has been fulfilled.
😂👍
I love those awkward quiet moments when you don't provide a reason for the filming. Their brain can't compute. Ha ha.
Hes scared of why youre taking pictures, then leaves the female alone with the person scaring him. Makes perfect sense.

We all have our strength & weakness. I'm sure there's qualities you have that you do better than I do ...thanks for the comment & support Werenotfree 😉👍❤📷📱🇺🇸
One of those awkward moments where someone lingers. Weird.
When they get so paranoid that they walk the perimeter looking for "threats", it's time to break out the hand signals to some ghost "partner"
😂The exact reason I could never do this myself! 😅 I'd have a fake walkie-talkie and ear piece, Id make it all worse..
Two pleasant fellas there. Glad you got to experience that!
The other dude with the shades wasn't to jazzed that you didn't want to explain yourself.
The old man is great , he just couldn't deal . The true sign of a real man !
that was the best part of the whole interaction
How can anyone work under him, with that DEMANDING attitude. NOW!
6:28 "Really!?!" 😂
Yup 6am coffee and a good first amendment audit 👍🏻
Love your vids, you hold your composure so we’ll. Yes, that lady definitely has the “Maggies” about her🤣🤣
Next time someone pulls the, "I'm confused" BS ask them for their DL # and SS # and when they refuse tell them that "I am confused."
Good morning and a good video to start off the first day of fall.....OUTSTANDING
😉👍❤📷📱🇺🇸
Seems pretty arrogant to walk up to a stranger and tell them what to do. I know everyone has their own way to do what you do. If he told me what to do I would have had some choice words for him😂
3:35 Educated adults being respectful. Always nice to see
She's confused? I'm sure that happens a lot 😂😂😂
Don't you love when they say "Can I help you?" With no intention to help at all?
Translation: “can I interrogate you? Probe you for answers? I’m insecure of peoples rights.”
It always the cry of the most unhelpfull passive agressive people who want to stop you doing what you are doing
Exactly. She asked for a chair and never got it.
It’s a common idiom in the English language all around the world. It’s considered a friendly greeting to strangers who seem uncertain what they’re doing. It doesn’t mean can I serve you a rack of lamb dinner with some wine. To answer like it does just shows people as boorish, or ignorant, or jerks, which could describe not only 1st Am weirdo but his/her/? peanut gallery gawkers too. No doubt they’re all California public school products.
False humility
See Something, Say Something < See Nothing, Make Up Some $h!t
See something say something is a fascist instruction. I don’t support that. At all.
I'm sick of ignorant people demanding and telling a stranger what to do.Could be putting yourself in danger.
So people can no longer just be "photographers" they must be "auditors?" He seemed more like an undercover 🐷
What's the difference?
He still has the right to photograph what is PUBLICLY visible...

Your mom’s an undercover pig, but he definitely looks like an undercover cop. It’s the hat and his walk. He definitely walks like a cop who has engaged in police brutality.
It's always fascinating to see how much people insist on being able to do their work undisturbed but don't doubt for a second that they are allowed to constantly disturb journalists in their work.
Love your work man..... stay cool,, and stay within the law..... you are doing great... don't stop the videos coming
He thought you'd shit your pants with the "turn it off" directive! 🤣
You should ask these people why a camera makes them so afraid?
I think fear is boloney. They want to force ppl to do as they say with inflated egos.
@@lynnsavoy1694 I wouldn't say that, some people don't want to be plastered over the Web which I can understand. But creating a scene is going to be much worse which is why I really don't get it.
any updates yet on business owner that assaulted you and damaged camera ?
Coffee and 1A. Great start to my day
Me too. 👍
The woman may have reminded you of Maggie Gyllenhaal just a pity that none of the guys looked nothing like Jake.

Audit? Oh you mean harassment!
Inside that door, they are gathering and trying to figure out what lies to say to get the cops on scene. The big tough guy is not used to people not snapping to attention when he speaks.
Love it when people cam back, as if it's some sort of weapon.
That shits hilarious
He just called news networks first amendment auditors lol.
"You can be confused, that's OK. Yeah, for sure!" Haha, I love the way you say stuff like that!
I find it funny that no one in the back area which is a hard hat area not a single one was wearing a hard hat
Love your word judo…. I’m not so calm with dumb.. Keep it up ✌️
Mr angry, tuff guy “I can’t deal with it”😭😂😱🤪🤡
Love it when the guy recording the auditor finds out he just made a total fool of himself on camera
Let's talk about Freedom and Constitutional Rights. Let's make a comparison between the behavior of a US citizen and a Chinese citizen. Okay? In China, more than a billion human beings live together. Some cities are overcrowded and yet there, chaos does not exist; all behave in an orderly manner, as public discipline is a valuable social virtue that is taught in schools. In the US, the INDIVIDUAL is privileged over society and the result, is conflict, aggression, everyday problems and stress. People in the US have many Rights, but few obligations. In China, GROUP Rights are privileged without paying much attention to Personal Rights. In the US, IF an individual has a "Right" he goes over the Group, and they call to that FREEDOM! And it is in this Freedom and Rights that the Civil Courts have to deal with thousands of lawsuits of all kinds. The individual has a Right, and if “HIS” Rights are violated, he demands and is compensated. This in China is unthinkable, given that a chinese citizen would not even dare to upload their music, so as not to annoy the GROUP. In US the all system is collapsing under the weight of "My Freedom”. For example, the Chinese are not free to provoke, insult or yell anyone. That "Freedom" does not exist. And yes: Exercise The Freedom of Expression or filming another person is NOT a illegal, and anyone has the “Right” to videotape what they want or say as much he want. Filming in public places is not a crime either. But, for the Chinese it is uncomprehensible to DISTURB another person, just cuz someone have the "Right" to do so. Yup... Only in America...! Where the word COURTESY should have more value than The Constitutional Rights. And by the way: This "Auditor" is just a Loco who doesn't have a job and who wants the money from RUclips. LOL
@@salvadorvizcarra769 Proud to be an American. Have no desire to go to China.
What's Salvador more full of assumptions or shit....both 😂
@@FirstAmendmentRights Like all cops their assumptions without any REAL investigation of the ACTUAL facts. This is what makes cops dangerous and subjects to lawsuits at tax payer expense
What's truly weird is that although we can film anywhere we're expected to walk miles to the nearest cross walk so that we don't break their ignorant jay walking laws. There should be a law that you can cross a road if the nearest cross walk is over 100 yards away.
Jaywalking is no longer illegal in California as long as not obstructing the flow of traffic . Freedom to walk act
12:14 Wow. In all my 73 years, I've never heard of 'freedom of the press'! "Is that a new 'thing', this freedom stuff?" 😂😂😂
Why do people feel entitled to know someone else's business? They expect answers to their questions as if they have some authority over others. It's really quite arrogant and self-centered. If you are curious and you ask a question, that's fine, natural curiosity but to expect immediate answers and explanations is ridiculous.
Right. In a PUBLIC setting, I cannot fathom walking up to a total stranger with a camera and saying "what are you doing?" or "what are you up to?" and thinking I actually had a right to know and get an answer! It's insane! The reason I would never do that is because it's NONE of my business. People really can be so stupid.
😂😂 the way she waddled over
It's always something illegal going on when they behave like this.
Fr
I think you are correct.
I think it's EGO & not being in control.
No, I don't think that's it, I think they just feel entitled to know why someone is filming.
@@Randysgirl yep that's ego and control
A chair lmao 🤣😂🤣 always ask for a chair when they ask you if you need help
Suspicion is "emotion without evidence". I can't believe how very thick some people are. It amazes me when they come up to a person with a camera and tells them they don't want videoing and to stop it!
Was it just me but did ' don't record me man' sort of 'Mince' back to the office😅😅😅
didn't he just
When people keep asking, "Can I help you," I would say yes, thank you, two cheeseburgers, large fries, and a coke, please. 😀
I didn't see anyone wearing hardhats in the restricted area 👷
It's funny how the recorded think that recording the recorder is as offensive to the recorder as it is to the recorded.
Tell them that what you are doing is your business, and if that building is their business why don't they go "mind it?"......................... (In other words, "Mind your own business!")
lol look at them, coming up one by one like headless chicken trying to find out why someone is recording in public 😁😂🤣🤪
do some jazz hands mate..... i like to think of them showing the cops a pic of the suspicious man..... doing jazz hands !
"I just think it's suspicious that you're recording me." Well then get your mug out of my friend FAR's camera lens!🙄
Claims to be a supporter but rats out who the auditor is to the inquiring company
Exactly! He was 100% a snitch! And I don't understand why this auditor was not upset about that, instead at the end of the video he says he hoped that guy put their minds at ease.
Theres nothing to snitch on, you dorks. You know what else is included in the 1st amendment, freedom of speech.
@@Wiskerbiscuiteasily triggered by a post huh?🤔😂
Shout out to the two guys who came up to you. nice to see people who aren't afraid of a stupid camera.
You mean the two guys that snitched?
Its the same reaction when people see a car accident. Many stop and block traffic. They mind is confused and curious
I would get a t-shirt printed up that says 'don't help me, I'm filming, and I don't answer questions.'
(have a nice day) "You as well... don't work too hard" Priceless entertainment.
You were absolutely right not to give any information to the guy across the street, and in my opinion if he was a true supporter of what you do he wouldn’t have said anything to those people. I was watching another auditor and a couple was walking by and asked him what he was doing, and he politely explained the whole situation to the “nice couple “ and they went right to the people in the church in this case and told them everything,so you guys are right to keep it anonymous as long as possible.
It just never occurs to them that if they left you alone you would soon go away.😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Grandpa McSassypants’s video was short huh? 😂. “I just can’t deal”
I love when they’re stumped from the lack of info you give 😂😂😂
There is cameras watching you all day... the moment you drive outside of your house. Your neighbors have camera doorbells, cars have dash cameras recording you and your license plate, libraries, etc. But, I think people forget that they are there. But, love the cam backs because they look ridiculous being mad at doing the same thing.
"I'm just confused." Note" Women are in a CONSTANT state of confusion.
Its always funny to me how, when the first person doesn't get an answer that they want to hear, that they send someone else - AS IF, that's going to make a difference and that a different person is going to break the dam of information flow. LOL
It’s a massive shame public photography laws weren’t taught in school. These people would probably have different attitudes towards you if they were educated on public photography laws.

Nobody has any obligation to have a sensible conversation with a complete stranger who approaches them in public.
I love the cams back .... sooooo mature
Those management types think everyone is under their thumb and must jump to the tune they put forth.
They always think they have a say where people can and can't film in public.

Astonishing the amount of people in the US that haven’t a clue about public recording

I always wonder why side walk monitors think they have a right to ask someone their business!
Maggie, I want to open a can of worms and the guys will come to rescue me.
Dude watches San Joaquin...! hell yeah!
Great as always.
Multiple levels of audacity in society today. Level ONE is the "nosy people" who think they are entitled to answers....but Level TWO is the people who think they can tell you to "turn it off" like they are somebody who people need to listen to. Those are the people who are usually trouble.
Can I get a chair, Lolololoolol. I love it
The blonde woman was great. I think it would be better, when people start off rude to you like the man in the black shirt did, to tell them that you won't say why you're filming BECAUSE they were rude to you at first. That might make them see a little better how their approach was wrong. It always surprises me when people start off rude and then act shocked when you won't tell them everything they want to know. There's this old saying about flies and honey that comes to mind...
Another great interaction. Thanks Chris. F.A.R. SUPPORTED
