The Pokémon makes no sense if you think about it. While there are probably an infinite about of odd things that don't make sense in this series. I've narrowed it down to 30 things that don't make sense in Pokémon in this video. Where looking at games like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Emerald, Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Fire Red and Leaf Green, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Sword and Shield.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (Nintendo Switch) is here! How is the latest open world Pokemon adventure? Let's talk.
Discovering and catching charming monsters across an enormous open world with an actually good story is really fun. But it is completely impossible to play Scarlet and Violet and not notice at least some performance issues, and not just framerate problems: these games actively crash, disconnect, and break in highly distracting ways basically all of the time.

The reason why Gastly can learn Sucker Punch is because the move's Japanese name is Surprise Attack.

Yeah, and prior to that, especially in the older 2d games, the graphics could be considered more of an abstraction. Meaning a battling at sea you could imagine them standing on a sandbar or rocky outcropping. Pretty much the inverse of when fish shaped Pokémon battle on land and you could just imagine they're being a conveniently nearby patch of water for them to use.

About self-destructing Moves, I believe in the Japanese versions of Pokemon, that the Move "Self-destruct" has in it's name, context of suicide bombing, which makes the Move even MORE makes no sense that you can get your Pokemon revived from Fainted status when they're literally suicide bombing themselves

But even then, you'd still have a few questions (at least), like . . .
      • What happens when you don't have any money?
      • Who pays, then, and from where?
      • Is there, like, a Universal Trainer Fund that pays on your behalf, in those circumstances?
      • Do you then owe them?
      • What happens if you just keep losing every battle you get into?
      • Do they then revoke your Trainer title/license and privileges?
      • If Team have to pay too, then how do they still have enough money to run the organisation, especially if a 10-year-old can bring the entire thing down, with just a few tens of hours of training?

Fainting and still being able to use HM moves is explained. Fainting means it can't battle anymore. Doesn't have the will to. However, it can still move around and help you out. It just doesn't have the strength to battle anymore. For catching fainted pokemon, the pokemon is supposed to choose whether or not it wants to go with you or not. If its knocked out, it can't make that decision

It's also explained in Legends Arceus that Pokémon can shrink out of sight at will, and that's what they're doing when the wild ones faint in battle...they're shrinking out of sight so they can run away...which is how they explain not being able to catch Pokémon AFTER they "faint".

That doesn’t make sense. U just contradicted yourself. Why would it work differently for wild Pokémon? If your Pokémon can still use hm moves cause they just can’t battle anymore then why can’t a wild Pokémon choose wether or not it goes with u? Cause it’s unconscious? Well then it should be the same for our Pokémon in our party.

@@InfiniteBits for the level 100 cap, as well as the elite four not having lv 100 pokemon: i assume that the system of overlord is in play. like, only the player has the talent to max out a pokemons level, due to being a prodigy or whatever. npcs have a much lower level cap, so they physically cant level them up further. as to what the level represents, is just a natural limit, like real life athletes, at some point, you just reach your peak, unless youre saitama. however, theres also an inverse of this, with npcs sometimes being able to do things you cant. like some trainers have evolved pokemon at a lower level than what should be possible, like theres a trainer with a lv 21 graveler, when geodude evolves at lv 25... or nidoqueen who cant breed in the daycare, but can breed in the wild, according to the pokedex.

as a matter of fact... the fact that even the crooks have to give you money from losing IS that deeply ingrained in the society of the Pokemon world. it's explained quite well in practice during Pokemon Legends: Arceus, as when you beat the Miss Fortunes, they'll all drop Nuggets, which as any Pokemon fan is aware, can be sold for quite a nice sum, and as we know, Pokemon battles weren't a huge thing during this time period, and any other Trainer battles in the game DON'T pay out, so we can assume that the practice started with the Miss Fortunes and their Nuggets.

Pokeballs are also confusing. In Pokémon Platinum, the professor hands you a PokeBall which has a button in the middle of it, which he asks you to press on using the touch screen, which raises a lot of questions. Most of the questions are stuff like: what if you're walking around in the grass and trip on a rock or something? Do all of your pokemon just release and get out of their pokeballs? Or if the button is hard to press and you need a lot of force to press it, which would solve the tripping issue, but then what would happen if you encounter a wild Pokemon which attacks you, and then the PokeBall you threw on the ground just doesn't click open? Do you just get mauled by the wild Pokemon or something? And what about trainer battles? What if you get challenged and you just can't get your main pokemon out of it's PokeBall?

Most of these have explanations, if you actually pay attention to all of the content and not just the games. Some simple things that explain a lot of these:
There are laws governing the Pokemon world, how battles work, etc, and clearly evil teams follow them too otherwise they would just have several Pokemon out attacking trainers all of the time instead of even having proper battles.
There's a notable difference between normal actions and attacks. This is made most evident in the Pokemon Origins series, where Red's Charmander bites another Pokemon instead of using the attack Bite. The details of these differences aren't completely clear, but it's also why Pokemon like Rhyhorn didn't go extinct because of some rain.
Some of the elements pointed out are specific to the games and are a matter of game limitations and such. They are not exactly as they seem, that's just the game's way of depicting how it actually is.
And specifically for the last one, if you play any of the more recent games, that hasn't been a thing for a while. I want to say ever since gen 6, X and Y, your Pokemon have stopped taking damage from Poison in the overworld...

My head canon for #9 is that the main character is essentially a child prodigy with insane Pokemon training abilities. Like, imagine you get 250 exp for defeating a Pokemon, but the average person would only get 1. What might take someone else years and decades of dedicated work to accomplish, you can do in weeks/months.
Much the same way that some people are just incredible at piano. It might take you or me years to master the most difficult pieces, but some six year old can play them by ear after hearing them once.
You clearly aren't the only one that is so talented at raising Pokemon, your rival usually matches your pace, and you occasionally find gym leaders or E4 members that are children as well, but the fact that people frequently remark on your bond with your Pokemon and how they quickly gain so much power has me believing you have some very above average abilities within that universe.

9:21... While you could say "oh well the pokemon isn't walking, you are, so your counter point is invalid" to that I can say "they are swaying on a ball as such they are being moved while you move so think of them like being on a boat when you move".... With that out of the way you can not tell me that never in your life have you been sick where if you remain motionless in one position you can feel okish but the second you start moving you feel queasy or in pain AF and need to stop moving or you will feel miserable. Think of poison like you just ate some bad food that is upsetting your stomach, when you are moving you feel nauseous and in pain but when you curl up in a ball and stop moving the pain and nausea subsides until you start moving again. So while all the others don't make sense, that poison one is one that can make sense depending on how you view the poison.

2 beefs I have with this video:
One: why, WHY do people keep calling the protagonist 10 years old when they're CLEARLY teenagers. Legends Arceus even flat out says you're 15!!
Two: those weird glitches in Scarlet/Violet are the extreme rare ones, not the norm. In fact, in my almost 300 hours in Violet, I never encountered any glitches. Those huge glitches must response to modded Switches or something.

This may sound stupid but I think that TMs are literal tiny screens designed to look like a CD and the Pokemon watch a very vague description of the move that is very easily forgettable. Also Alakazam might just try and even out the playing field by pretending to forget the moves. Just a thought

  • @lestradewilson2962

What bugs me the most is that Pokemon only have 4 maximum moves, like why can't you just pick 4 moves for your moveset from all the learnt moves. Just why can't you switch between them?

I saw it in the show once, TMs are put into a little macbook-like device that educates the Pokémon in a move. I don't remember for sure which generation I saw it, but I know it was Ash teaching Pikachu, and I believe it was Iron Tail. So maybe gen 4?
As for only knowing four moves at a time: I assume it's a legal thing. The Pokémon may not "forget" per se (even though those are the words chosen); just maybe it's a league rule that you can only use 4 different moves at a time, and have to register what moves you're using? I imagine Pokémon battling would be a lot more chaotic and dangerous if Pokémon could pull any move they'd ever learned- especially Pokémon with good move spreads, like Normal types.

You probably should've used a better reference for 11 than the Sw/Sh one you used because it's very obviously at about neck height compared to the player meaning you're not going to be able to just take one leg and put it above the ledge unless your legs were the majority of your body, like just legs and a head
